[help] Deleting ALL messages? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. Thought the message service was getting a little slow, so I set out to empty my inbox. Easy right, just go to "all messages" and delete the conversations?
Well yes, that removes them from "all messages", and deletes about 10 days worth or 100 messages from each contact.
But then, when you go in TouchFlo to SMS-tab, or you're in a contact and go to the sms-tab, there's still a ****load of messages! Then I have to click "delete" in the contact's sms-tab, check of EACH message individually, and click "done". If there's a thousand messages, this is helluva lot of work!
..Any help?

Looks like the 'select all' or 'select multiple' is completly gone in WM 6.5?

yeah. stupid.

Text messages gone!`

I just rebooted, and now my text messages are gone! There's no "text messages" tab under messaging, and if I select a number and hit "send text message" nothing happens. Now there's an "IPM.root" folder in outlook express instead. Everything else seems fine. Any ideas?
What other software do you have installed out of curiousity?
I had a similar issue except that i didn't lose my text messaging, i lost ALL messaging. As in, I hit the button, clicked the icon, nothing happened. I ended up installing Pocket Informant as my default PIM and for messaging I installed Flexmail 2007. They are not free, but I like them a lot. One of the things I like about Flexmail is the pop/imap only works if the program is running. So if I'm sitting at my computer at work I can close Flexmail and not get redundant emails. Text messaging works as normal.
I never figured out why my messaging disappeared and found no explaination from anyone here. I've tried different ROM's, different software.

Do you have the option "store mail attachments on memory card" ticked?
If so, that's the problem.
It happened to me few times while using two memory cards, all you have to do is delete the folder with mail attachments on the card, uncheck the box, soft reset and check the box again( if you want), problem solved.
I did a hard reset last week and decided to give the standard messaging a shot. So far so good, and now that you mention it, I don't have the "Store attachments on memory card" option checked. It's been almost a week and I haven't lost my messaging.
Thanks for the heads up. Now it just pisses me off that I spend $45 on flexmail and pocketinformant when i really didn't need to.
So if it will happen again try to take out the memory card, soft reset, and put it back AFTER IT STARTED - that also worked
I really don't see a need for third party messaging application, the original is good enough.
The only thing that annoys me is unablity to copy-paste text between Messaging and any other programs, for example writing an email in Pocket Word then copying it and pasting to blank email to send it as a text, not word doc.
Does not work for hermes 200

I tried what you recommended but I still do not have text messaging as an option under my message selections. I only have outlook email, MMS, IMAP4 and yahoo. Somehow I have managed to loose the text message selection folder. Do you know of anything else that I can do? Thanks

Palm Threaded Messaging

Is there any way to get Palm's threaded messaging to work on the Tilt?
I tried the cab from the Hermes forum, which sorta worked, but it removed "Text Messages" from the main Messaging app. On the home screen, there were two lines that both said "No new text messages", one would bring me to the main Messaging app and one would bring me to the threaded view.
Also, I could not use the dpad to flick between the three. I could only choose "Email" or "MMS".
I was able to uninstall with no issue, but I would really like to see this work.

It does work. The other messaging is for the EMAIL. You should of just left it on and tried to get a txt message.
You got a quick link to the one on Hermes? I had a Palm 750 and kind of liked that feature. Would like to try it on the Tilt.
Found it....

I did leave it on and sent several text messages to myself to enable the threading.
The "Text Messages" option disappeared from "Messaging". They were no longer linked. Messaging ONLY showed MMS, Outlook Email and New E-Mail Account. I would have to leave Messaging to get to the home screen and pick the other text message option.
Once I uninstalled it, "Text Messages" was back in place under Messaging.
If you don't believe me, I can get a few screenshots to show you...
I've installed (on Tilt w/Kaiser ROM) from link above without any problems. Works like a charm!

i had the same result. i rely on the HTC Touch quicklink to get me to the text messaging now. its still better than clicking twice to get where i need to go but you're right it removes it from the messaging page. the hard button also takes me directly to my outlook email box which i dont use either which is unfortunate. like i said i rely on the Touch interface to get me to the txt msging.
fortunately i dont need any of that other crap - just txt messaging.

Sure it works... but does it remove "Text Messages" from the Messaging app like quazimoto have described?

yes thats how it works!!!! you dont need to have that option there. it makes its own text messaging program. Why do you need it to be there on messaging thats what I dont understand ?
because the other messaging buttons take you there by default -so when the other buttons take you there you're at a dead end.
thats why
So change the buttons in setting --- buttons
I like it.... BUT, I keep getting the "Out of Memory" error when I try to send a pic. I don't know if it happened to others, but my MMS feature along WITH my messaging feature went away when I installed the program. Does anyone know if a fix for this? I NEED the MMS feature to work.

messaging (1) try that !

more than 25 SMS messages ?

hi guys
is there a way to keep more than 25 SMS messages ? it appears that the phone always deletes the oldest one and only keeps 25 SMS messages ... I'd like to keep all of them ...
any tweaks to fix that ?
cheers
Are you sure they are deleted?
When I go into messages and select all messages, then select a person/conversation, if I scroll to the top there is another link saying 'older' and the previous messages are there.
wierd.... they are in "older" section ... why does it then show only 25 ? to preserve memory ?
I think I understand your comment:
in the SMS tab just 25 messages can be displayed
(Also) in the emails tab it only shows a maximum of 99 emails
to veiw any more you have to click "all message" and you get the standard WM6.1 message indox, sent, drafts etc...
Maybe its just a built in limmitation of Manilla as all your messages are still there its just they are not shown in the TouchFlo application?
It's in a conversation style ... Threaded.
If you want all to sms's to appear, like in your PREVIOUS PHONES (perhaps), you can remove the threaded style of sms's and they will no longer appear as conversations, and you will not have OLDER mentioned anywher
hope this helps
To disable Threaded view, there is a registry entry you will have to CREATE
In your registry editor - go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM
Create Regitry entry
SMSInboxThreadingDisabled
Set Value to 1
Restart the phone
That's it.
The sms tab still shows only 25 elements, also if in "all" there's no more the "older" thread... No solution for this?
hi solved your problem?
Ive got the same problem...
Is it in WM6.5 you're talking about? Whose ROM are you using? I always get to display more than 25 SMS or 1000s of emails too.
Regards,
Carty..

Possible to delete Outlook email directly from TF3D?

Is there away to delete emails without having to go into the account, and delete the message from there?
I can see the message is junk mail and would really rather just have a quick delete button!
also, is there a way to turn off Delete confirmation on SMS messages?
To delete a mail you have to open it and then Menu \ Delete. I'm agree with you than a direct option to delete it was very good
I would also like to be able to mark them as read... the same way it happens with text messages
Totally agree! I would like to see one of the soft-keys have a 'delete' function...

Deleted text messages still show up

A lot of the time when I clear my text messages (by going to the SMS tab > All Messages > then deleting them all from the inbox as well as clearing the sent/drafts/outbox/deleted folders), when I X out the window to go back to the TouchFlo I get a "tmail.exe error" and then I click "don't send" and it goes back to TF like normal. This happens A LOT, anyone else have this problem?
Also, just today, I deleted all my messages but when I scroll to the SMS tab, they're still there and I can flick them up and down to see the past 5 messages. Although when I go to "all messages" there's nothing there because I already deleted them all. What's going on?
