Anyway to get the hero gallery to 1.6? - G1 Apps and Games

Lets be honest the gallery viewer for android pretty much sucks. I used a hero ROM for about a week and knew I didn't want it I love android but hero did a few things right.
The gallery and the music player both are stellar in comparison to that of stock.
Is there anyway we can get the hero galler or is there a gallery that will let us pinch zoom and swipe pics and maybe even pull facebook pictures as well?

I'll be glad to know too, that's exactly the 2 ergonomic problems of android according to me: stock gallery is so obsolete, and music player just standard as hell, looks like win95 :/
HTC really did good job reproducing a touch flo 3d-like gallery on sense, and i hope this get improved on stock roms

it honestly depends on the rom and if it has the htc framework. cyanogen used to have the frameworks needed for the music player but getting the gallery over wont really be possible because it is so tied in with the sence ui (facebook and flickr images) one thing to check out that has worked nicely for me is picture veiwer from the market it is free and does have the swipe. there isnt pinch zoom but you slide your finger up and down to zoom. the app doesnt come with a gallery function so i just use astro. hope that helps. good luck.

Possible to use Hero Albums app under Cyanogen?

Is there any way to run the Albums app from the Hero ROM under CM 4.0.4?
Maybe push some framework files in?
The stock Gallery thing SUCKS. (How could they not have implemented swiping between photos?)
I think 404 already has the hero camera and gallery in it

Cyanogen 4.04 based on cupcake has the HTC Camera and gallery found on the HTC Magic. HTC Made a new Camera + Gallery for Hero, the Hero cam + gallery has not been ported.
The gallery for hero is a photo of some hills and no sdcard/floppy disk thing.
So to answer the OP: No.
Photo Burst
Try this out. I use the trial version and it looks great. If I really used my photos much, I would buy the full version, but I don't really go through my pictures much.

[Q] Best camera app?

paid or free.
The built in camera app is actually one of the best I've ever seen on any phone. BUT, vignette's amount of options is incredible, if you play with the settings correctly you can literally take photos and automatically process them with effects etc that would require a copy of photoshop to recreate them with a standard digital camera. Interface on vignette bugs me though, they should take a hint from the camera on the galaxy.
I have a bunch of different ones installed on my phone, Camera Illusion is really fun because it applies the filter in the live view. I also have Retro Camera, Camera 360 and FxCamera.
They are fun to play with but I hardly ever use any of them.
Vignette and FxCamera
On a lighter side, sniper shot is a fun app.

[APP] [Gallery] Quick Pic Gallery

If you are wanting a gallery app that is smooth as homemade vanilla ice cream and as fast as a Shelby Cobra, give this one a shot. Free @ the app market. You won't be disappointed!
It mops the floor with the stock Android gallery or any other gallery that I have tried.

I've been using Quickpic on my DX for some time now. It is my go to image app. Loads so much quicker than gallery. Good call!

Just do a search on the market for Quick Pic. You'll find it. The link you supplied takes me to a redirect back tomy isp's search page @ Roadrunner.com

Awesome

Just found this today. Much faster than the stock gallery, and for some reason lately my stock gallery doesn't load all my images :/
I have one question though, can we install this and delete the stock gallery? Will that interfere with anything? Cuz I don't use the stock camera or gallery. Camera360 and QuickPic are what i'm using for my photos.
camera360 (found on Amazon, not Android market) and QuickPic are both nice finds, thanks!
Pretty darn quick. I like it! Thanks for posting.
Anyone knows if you can stream pics from your CIFS/NTFS shared folder on your home server?
I've been using Quick Pic on my phone for a while now. And it's just as great on the tablet.
Hi, can QuickPic totally replace the Gallery?
I don't understand how more people are not frustrated by the fact that picture can't be renamed after taking a shot..?
I would like to be able to rename the pictures as soon sa I take them, and from stock camera I can see the picture taken, but I can't rename it. Can QuickPic be accessed from camera (review of pic - right bottom corner)?
Thanks, Cheers,
Nenad

I do know that after installing QuickPic, I went into File Explorer and navigated to my DCIM folder where my pics are stored and clicked on a .jpg file, then the box popped up asking me which app I wanted to open the file in, Gallery or QuickPic. I set the check mark to "Always use this selection" and then tapped on QuickPic and made it the default .jpg viewer. You will need to do this for each graphics format type; .png, .tif, etc.
I do not know about the camera preview because I am running CM7 at the moment on my tablet. Anyone whom has used CM7 knows the downfall of the camera quality and I try to steer clear of even using the camera with this rom.
You can do as I have stated above, setting the file associations, and see what your camera app uses for the preview when you take a pic with your tablet. Then report back to us and let us know if this, in fact, does actually replace the default preview app for photos from the camera app.
[EDIT] I have just confirmed that if you install QuickPic, when you take a shot with your camera app and tap on the preview selection, it does give you the option of setting QuickPic as the default preview app from the camera.
Nope.
I made a QuickPic a default app to preview Jpegs (and other formats), but the problem is stil there:
From Camera app, when I hit a "image viewer" button, it opens a Galery-like 1 picture screen (on back, the Camera app is shown for taking more pictures).
Is there a way to tweak Android to use QuickPic instead (like "Registry" in Win?)
Cheers
Loving this app
Great app, I've been using it for a while. Was really happy when I found it, the stock Gallery appy is garbage compared to this app.
The pics and icons load right away, instead of sitting there waiting for no reason.

I was using Serendipity 6.3 and now Darky 10.1 rom, and I never got the option to choose - it always shows the preview in stock gallery... Can I remove the it (the stock gallery)?
BTW - I just left a "review" at "App Brain":
The best gallery app (IMHO)! Let me put out the facts others didn't: I just love the "rename" option - one can take a look at the picture, and directly rename it if you want (when the picture is in full screen. It would be nice though if one could do the same from a thumbnail preview - with a long press menu - the option lacks there...). One more minor issue makes me have another picture viewer installed: - if you open a hidden (.name) picture from a folder that has more then one hidden pics, it will show this one, but will not show any oteher by sliding, as would for non-hidden pics. It would be nice to have an option "show/ hidden files", and if the option is on, it would show all the hidden pics, and if it is off, it would show none. If this issue was not present, I would have had just QuickPic installed of all the pic viewers! Once again - thanks for the best gallery app - please make it even better!
Anyone having issues with date sorting? Looking at the details of each photo, the date is right but QuickPic seems to put them in a different order

Gallery app replacement?

Does anyone know of a good gallery app replacement? Both free and paid apps are fine, just after being used to the sense gallery on my EVO I despise the stock android gallery the Galaxy tab has, basically i'm looking for a gallery app that like the sense one can properly view high res photo's instead of scaling up and making them look blurry like the default one, can view Facebook albums like sense, can view videos and properly shows thumbnails for the video's and can share photo's directly to Facebook, I tried Just Pictures which I've seen a lot of people recommend, but like it's name says it's just pictures, no videos, and it can't share to Facebook.
Quickpic is a good gallery replacement. It fixed the problem of blurry jpg images that the stock gallery app causes. It is also free!

replace gallery in camera preview?

I want to use quickpic as my default gallery and it now is, but the default gallery still launches when in the camera app. Stock galley is nice but don't like the social and dlna integration because they do not work anymore since the apps are frozen. So any way to get it to launch quickpic with the default camera app?
If not what are some good camera apps your recommend?
Ye I wanted this and searched for it..seems it's hardcoded into camera and someone would have to modify it
yup its kinda annoying, maybe if i rename quickpic.apk to gallery.apk it might work.
I also tried a few camera app which all sucked.

No I tried that. It gives you something like application not installed.
Probably because it tries to call a function from quickpic that doesn't exist
QuickSnap is an alright camera app replacement. Made by the devs who made Lightbox (sorta like Instagram), but it's a standalone app. Problem is it has its own preview function that is not tied to the gallery at all, so sharing, uploading, etc. requires actually navigating to your gallery of choice. That part sucks, but otherwise it's better than the stock app (simpler, faster, looks nicer).
hmm its not bad and has a simple UI but does not do video
