HTC Diamond Warranty Touchscreen Repair - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello guys,
I've had this problem ever since I bought my Diamond last year where every now and then, the touchscreen suddenly becomes misaligned and the phone becomes unusable. Until now, I could always just apply pressure to the screen by rubbing it against my shirt and it got better within 1 or 2 minutes.
However, over the past few days, it's just suddenly gotten a lot worse. The phone's touchscreen suddenly stops responding for a long time, perhaps about an hour (i didnt time it but its bad) and this is a serious problem.
My phone is slightly past warranty and so I don't think HTC will repair it for free. Of course, I'm really regretting not having it repaired during warranty because now they are saying it will cost roughly £90 to get repaired.
My question is, are there any alternative routes I can take to get my phone working properly again? And, if I send my phone to HTC and they send it back unfixed, will they charge me another £90 if I send it back? (the person on the phone was useless at explaining). Also, does HTC still even manufacture Diamonds?

I need to damage my phone help!

Yes you read right. I been owning a Cingular 8125 since probably May. Ever since I got it the about 2x a month my power button decides not to work, all my phone calls goes automatically to voicemail, and my cell phone will automatically shut off from time to time. I even upgrade the rom and still no luck. So I finally got fed up after I miss 2 job interviews that I call Cingular and ask for a replacement. So I finally got the new device today but turns out my phone decides to start working again. And if Cingular sees that there's no problem they are going to charge me $400. So what can I do to disable the power button and messed up my phone even more then it is?
Just send it back to them, and tell them it's sporatic and that you want it replaced due to it not being reliable.
Hope that will work.[/quote]
honestly i don't think they'll care...
I think the main thing they look for when they receive the phone back is water damage, or damage in general...
they will take it, no need to damage your phone further... i have been through the replacement process many many many times with the 2125 and some other phones..
They don't charge you if you're phone appears to be working properly. They charge you if your phone is damaged by circumstances not covered in the warranty. You're totally fine.
Oh ok thanks. I'm going to ship my old phone tommorow.

Can Diamond take the heat? Repair Odyssey.

Hello all,
I bought a HTC Touch Diamond on August 13 because my
old smartphone (a HTC/Qtek S200 which I LOVED) was broken.
In the phone shop, I told the salesman that my main interests
were good WIFI (Wireless LAN) and navigation capabilities.
He recommended me the HTC Touch Diamond.
He said it had a built-in GPS and would be compatible with my
existing navigation software. Indeed it was.
Initially, the Diamond performed fine though it got noticeably
warm with an active WLAN connection. Also, when using it
in the car for navigation, it gets incredibly hot. Not just
warm, the lower half of the plastic back cover is almost
too hot to touch.
After a few days, the WLAN connection started dropping its
connection all the time, requiring a soft reset to get it going
again. Often, the Opera mobile browser would cause the
phone to lockup completely, also requiring a soft reset.
Over time, the WLAN stability deteriorated further and further
until it refused to initialize the WLAN chip at all. Clicking the
WLAN symbol in the Comms manager would briefly display the
"hourglass" symbol and subsequently nothing happens at all-
the WLAN just stays off. A hard reset didn't work either
(just killed all my data - otherwise no beneficial effect).
I can't say it really surprised me, given the extreme temperatures
this phone generates.
Because at this time my mum was hospitalized with cardiac
problems, I had no opportunity to return it to the phone
shop within the first few weeks.
Instead, I called HTC and they gave me a repair ticket and had
the phone collected from my home by UPS, sending it to the
"Eurotwice" repair centre in Belgium. I included a full error
description with the phone. Two weeks later I received the
phone back with a note that "no error had been found".
Bummer. I don't know what the heck these guys tested, but
a simple click on the WLAN symbol would have shown them
immediately that the WLAN is broken.
So, I called HTC again and was given another repair number
etc, and my phone was collected for the second time on
September 24 for yet another repair attempt. Today is
October 20, so I called HTC to inquire what's taking them
so long.
They called the repair centre and it turned out they're waiting for
replacement motherboards to arrive from Taiwan. It might take at
least another 10 days, they said, "with luck".
All in all, my brand new Diamond has been in repair for a
total of 6 weeks and I still haven't got it back. It remains
to be seen if it'll work as advertized after the repair. If so,
I guess it'll be "luck". I'm keeping my fingers crossed but
my gut feeling tells me that Diamonds aren't forever.
Hi,
i am in the same situation...
Also here in Italy there are no spare parts for the diamond (i am waiting for a new mainboard)
Mine is in the repair center from the first days of september....
Seems that they are waiting the same spare parts shipments from taiwan, but never arrives...
I had to send mine off to be fixed as well....twice.
I couldn't receive any signals on my phone so i sent it to be fixed. got it back after about 5days, and the phone was fine..........for a day. Sent it off the next day and this time it took just over a week. From the repair form it says they replaced the mainboard. It works perfectly fine now.
Hopefully i won't have to send it away again.

Hi,
In which country?
thanks
Mine was in repartion too... They had to change the mainboard because the device didn't start anymore... It did only the boot up sound, but no screen, no lights....
But I don't think it is the heat! Else much more people would have the same problems... I think we had the "bad" model. Mine works fine now too, had some problems to get a signal with the GPS, but it works noch really fine!
Do you think that the replacement motherboards are technically different/more reliable than the "originals"?
Today I had the opportunity to play with an Iphone 3G.
It's cool (I mean, it doesn't get warm).

htc tytn ii touchscreen

I have Alex's Rom on my htc. It fell off my hand and broke the lcd, tried to replace it myself could not so took it to the local shop in Houston. They charged me $100 and replaced it with a new one. It was working fine for 2wks then i started having touch screen sometimes works sometimes does not issue. Could not even do ALIGN. The shop said that the screen and the flex card is fine but motherboard is messed up since he replaced it with his new one and it works.
I have already spent money on it and wondering is there any way to fix the touch screen without replacing motherboard. After he put it back I do not have any touch screen capability at all. He said he cannot do anything about it.
Need your suggestions what would you do with the device since without touchscreen it is very hard even to make a phone call with Alex's Rom since i cannot press any keys when the contact shows on the screen?
There is no way I would have spent $100 on this old phone. Get a new phone .
Yeap, too much money. With that you can get a cheap old and good kaiser in ebay if lucky.

Z3C temporary dead?

So I got my Z3C about a month now. 6 weeks ago I thoughed my phone broke, suddenly it was dead. It looked like it was bricked, but I didn't do anything with it. There was no charging light, no fibrating on a hard reset, nothing. There was not even a connection with the adb.
So I send it to a repair point and they fixed it for me. I had no idea what that do, but I was happy with it.
Yesterday it happend again and I was pretty angry. A 3 month phone broke twice! I contacted the store, because I want a new one and not another repair, because i have no faith in another repair.
Now here comes the thing. Today I tried my phone again and suddenly it was working again.
You might think I should be happy, but I'm absolulty not, because now it is hard to prove there is something wrong with my device.
I suspect the repairpoint didn't fix anything, because it was working again at that point. So they just did a factoryreset
Has anyone experienced something like this or has any clue what the problem is?
Thanking in advance.

first of all you should make it clear If it s software problem (which level of software) or hardware
to get this u can Repair Xperia firmware by PCC to install fresh firmware
after that if problem remains u can be sure that problem is in hardware and ask for replace
in repair center they may just install new rom and return it so just ask for replacement
:good:
I k now this post is a little old but I have the same problem. After 6 weeks of flawless use my Z3C suddenly died. Nothing would bring it back to life. I spent several hours on the phone to sony support to no avail. We tried numerous manual and computer related fixes to no avail (including flashing a new stock rom which didn't work because no phone could be detected). Finally the tech gave up and said to return to return it to where I bought it. I was in the process of doing that when suddenly the phone worked again when I pressed the power button. battery charge was showing as 74%. Unfortunately I didn't do a factory reset while I had the chance.
This afternoon I didn't use the phone for 3 hours and now it's dead again. Nothing will wake it up again.
To me it sounds like a hardware fault, not software. This is a near new phone. This shouldn't be happening. I've searched the net and found numerous others having the same problem and in every case it has resulted in a replacement phone. Unfortunately my phone seller is a long way away. I guess that will teach me to buy local and pay and bit more.
Any suggestions please as I'm desperate.
I'm also in the same boat where my g/f Xperia Z3C just died and unfortunately the phone is out of warranty as it was a grey import and not local Aussie stock.
I have tried everything to get it working. When it does switch on it doesn't last more than a few hours before it goes back to a permanent coma.
I've wiped the rom and started from scratch when it was working with the Sony Xperia Repair centre but with little success.
I was left with little choice but to take it to a repair centre to find any faults with the hardware but I'm not feeling that confident they can fix the phone without replacing the whole board which isn't worth it.
Same thing.
Hello,
Today my phone shut downs itself and i realized it after 2-3 hours. Can't force reboot with volume up + power or the yellow button near the sim slot. Also no leds working to confirm if it takes electricity or not.My phones screen changed about a month ago due to having volume changes in 3.5 mm jack while listening music.Funny thing is i gave my phone for that same reason 8 months ago and they did not changed the screen and when i asked why you changed the screen, the lady said because 3.5mm jack is together with the screen(which i do not believe).I am hoping for device to wake up like jesus...
Edit: Does android have a log that reports every incident like windows does?If so how can i access it to see why my phone decided to die and ressurected by itself?I can't get this device to technical service cause it is fine now but i want to make sure it does not happen again.

[Q] I have replaced my screen twice but the touch screen stops working after 24h

Hi friends,
A week ago I decided to finally replace the cracked screen of my phone. The phone was perfectly working, with the exception of the annoying lines everywhere around the broken glass.
I went to a repair service (not official) to have it changed for a new one (glass+lcd) and got it back repaired after few days.
During the first hours the phone was working just fine, but I noticed that the touch screen was slowly getting erratic. After few hours it was just a bit erratic but ok. 10 hours later it was almost impossible to use already. 24 later it didn't respond anymore to the touch.
I went back to the repair service and asked for a new screen that I got for free because we assumed it was a problem of the new screen. Problem is, it happened exactly the same with the second one!! And now, 24 hours later, it doesn't work anymore.
I have done a factory reset. I have flashed new ROMs, I have flashed back to the stock ROM, updated it, nothing has changed so it totally looks like a hardware issue.
My question is:
What may be causing my new screens to go mad after working perfectly fine during the first hours?
Summary:
My Moto G 2014 works perfectly, but it has a crack in the screen
Decide to go to a non official repair service to have it changed for a new one (LCD + Glass)
First hours with the new screen: All works fine
Slowly, the touch screen becomes more and more erratic
24 hours later the touch screen is useless (it still reacts to touch but totally mad and weak)
Decide to have it replaced again (this time for free)
With the second new screen, we test that works fine, and to confirm that is not the phone, we install back again the first new screen, verifying that it doesn't work.
Finally install the second new screen. All seems to be perfect!
Experience again all the previous points
What should I do lads? Did the repair service **** my phone? ;^(
It could be that water somehow got in (speaking from experience).

How would that explain that the newly replaced screens work fine for the first hours and then gradually stop working?. Also , I can't imagine how water got in the phone for the last weeks, besides, it works perfectly, is just the touch screen.Water would most likely **** more things. no?
Has anyone experienced the same problem as me?
thanks!
Is it genuine?

The screen? I don't actually know. But after changing twice the LCD seems unlikely that the LCD was defective. It may be more related to my phone (although I can't understand what) and something the guy of the repair service ****ed.
Any thoughts?
thanks for the help
