Efbiaye's VGA Diamond Theme 1.0.2 (February, 2nd) - SPB MS 2.1 (not upscaled!)

Hello ev1,
Since I was not satisfied with any existing VGA themes (most of which were upscaled from QVGA) I decided to do my own Diamond theme.
I tried to be pretty accurate while doing this theme, all icons, backgrounds etc. were prepared from the scratch by me, basing on numerous screenshots from Diamond TF3D.
I tested it over a week before releasing it to the public now. However, since I'm pretty busy with my day-to-day life, I don't plan to make any major changes to this theme, unless you discover some bugs.
Over 5000 downloads later, finally long awaited update! Comments for 1.0.2 version begin here.
Changelog:
v1.0.2 (February, 2nd 2009):
- additional (optional) layout configuration:
Layout C1 (based on Greatball's Diamond 1.2 layout C) - one contact page (for three contact pages use Layout C3)
- additional Porgrams buttons - GAMES and ACTIVE TASKS (necessery reg files included, all layouts are updated for this feature)
v1.0.1 (July, 31st 2008):
- additional (optional) layout configuration:
Layout B (based on Greatball's Diamond 1.2 layout B) - includes: Most Recent Used (MRU) tab - gesture switchable with Programmes tab; 3 contact pages;
Layout C3 (based on Greatball's Diamond 1.2 layout C3 Contact Pages) - similar to above but has no MRU page.
v1.0.0 (July, 28th 2008):
- full portrait and landscape support,
- every graphic (except for big weather icons) prepared from scratch for native VGA resolution.
Additional credits:
- layout based on Greatball's Diamond 1.2 Layout B and C3 (3 contacts pages) theme,
- QVGA to VGA theme conversion method by Mtkates,
- big weather icons were fractally upscaled from Greatball's new weather icon set used in 1.1 version of his theme,
- HTC for creating TF3D GUI.
Installation notes:
- backup your device/SPB MS dir,
- select desired layout,
- replace all files in your SPB MS dir with the files from my theme archive,
- if you wish to have GAMES and ACTIVE TASKS buttons in Programs tab, edit, according to the included instructions, and import necessery reg files on your mobile device (reg files are included in the package),
- restart your device,
- enjoy the theme.
Additional notes:
- the "Bigger photos in contact page by markfdr" mod will probably not work with C1 layout, as I used my original files,
- please note, that I have not tested the theme with latest SPB MS 2.1.4 build, so it may not work 100% correctly with it,
- I have noticed one or two people in some other boards crediting them selves for my theme... I MEAN COME ON, YOU DON'T NEED TO PAY A FRACKING CENT FOR IT AND YET YOU CLAIM IT'S YOURS!?
- If anyone wants to post it somewhere else, please include original link to this post, the same goes for other elements from this theme,
- as soon as clean my source .PSD files, I will release a pack of those, for people who would like to use the elements for other themes.
Todo:
- different background alternatives,
- weather icons prepared from original diamond weather graphic elements (VGA)
If someone can help me with the two above, it would be nice

markfdr was so kind and prepared a mod of the contact page which enlarges the thumbnails of your favourite contacts. Perfect for people with smaller VGA screens.

fbifbi, Congrats with this TRUE VGA (?yes?)
You might make a link on the Diamond general thread as some people would certainlu like to switch (back) to SPB with a nice GUI as you made.
Looking forward for more releases. sorry - barely no time - so can't help..
Greaaaaaaaaaaat..this is what I want a real graphic..thanks for your work
wow , good work , keep them coming ..

Wow Great work! Thank you!
Just one tought folks: I thing it is better to change the weather shortcut to Marsware Weather Pannel and not use the SPB one. What is your opinion?

KALI2000, you would need to edit your weather.xml file in order to center the big weather image, as you see currently it's more to the right, since my layout file is suited for the images 300px wide. I will find the exact place and will let you know where to edit.
EDIT:
Check the qa_layouts.dat file for MainWeather.xml, you need to find and edit two lines 115 and 172 (portrait mode / horizontal mode):
<LeftTop X="45" Y="80"/>
X marks the spot ;} err I mean is the space ammount in pixels measured from left margin
OK, short explanation where does the 45 come from.
My weather picture is 300px wide. Screen is 480px wide.
480px - 300px = 180px
180 / 2 (left and right margin) = 90px
However since this is a QVGA conversion of a theme, SPB doubles all the dimensions automatically, hence in order to achieve 90px margin in VGA you need to put half of the value - in my case 45px. Hope it's clear
At one moment I tried to convert BeyondInvisible's Diamond Enchanced icon set.
The icons are 240px wide (full screen), I have resized it to 480px, packed it in the theme, however, the bitmap was huuuge (if I remember correctly about 8MB), unfortunaltey SBP MS crashed when I tried to display weather page. So be careful guys while trying to convert other weather icon sets. Beside that, the memory consumtion grows rapidly if the images are large.
I checked yesterday, SPB MS uses ca. 11-12MB RAM with my theme - which already may be too much for some older VGA devices... But that's the price one has to pay for a good looking theme

[REF] Updated 2-OCT: Latest 6.5 and 6.5.x builds and Manila builds for Rom selection

For those like me that could be confused about the latest builds when searching for a new ROM, I’d like to share what I found after a long search.
There are several different branches of development. Higher number doesn't mean a newer version.
6.5 Builds:
These builds have the 'Start' and 'Ok' buttons on top.
a) 219xx = COM2, WM 6.5.0
The latest build is the 21916.
These builds don't include finger friendly buttons, but it's the most stable, less memory demanding, fast and the one which is giving no problems with WM6.1 software. All programs I works perfect (activesync, Tomtom, games, etc.) including those for older WM versions.
The development of the WM 6.5 is finished.
6.5.x builds:
These builds have big Start and Ok buttons at the bottom of screen, and much more finger friendly.
Main programs works work ok but some old programs have position problems.
b) 230xx = COM3, WM 6.5.3
The latest build I found is the 23153.
This is branch used by the 'official' 6.5.3 devices.
These builds include finger friendly buttons, start button at the bottom and eye candy appearance.
I'm using (cooking) these builds for everyday use and they are stable and showing very good performance.
Last build was just released by DFT.
c) 290xx,
New branch.
The latest build I found is the 29022
It has good Ram management, it's stable and quite fast.
IE has flash support.
I've been using this branch for a few weeks with good results.
This branch is the only one active recently.
d) 216xx
The latest build I found was 21690
HTC branch development.
Good Ram management, stable and very snappy.
e) 236xx
The latest build I found is the 23699.
It seems to be very fast and stable.
f) 282xx
Latest build found was 28245
Apparently the latest builds are very stable and faster than other 6.5.x builds.
g) 24xxx
Latest build found is the 24635.
Seems to be fast, stable & visually appealing. Battery consumption seems very good as well.
Possible HTC branch
h) 235xx = COM5 [Discontinued]
The latest ROM I found is the 23569.
This is a development branch, finger friendly with new Outlook Interface and threaded email. It's not as stable as the COM2/3 builds.
The development on this branch seems to be finished.
i) other branches 6.5.x:
I found the 22047, 25028
Manila 2.5 builds (HTC Sense):
The latest one found is the build 2.5.2021 with manila home 2022.
Sense 2.5 is really great, even if it consume a lot of resuorces from your phone.
When selecting a ROM you will find:
- LEO Manila 2.5: It include all tabs (ereader, docs, footprints), but it's very slow on the blackstone.
- Rodhium Manila 2.5: this one is optimized for our old (slow) processor, it works on landscape mode, but it does not include eReader, docs and Footrint tab and some of the animations have been removed (music and pictures tabs on landscape). (note: you will find some hybrid versions based on the Rodhium manila with the missing tabs added. E.G: NRGZ28)
For the differences between Manila 2.1 and 2.5 check this post.
Manila 2.1 builds (HTC Sense):
The latest one found is the build 2.1.38411.0
Not as nice as the 2.5, but it's much faster and uses less memory.
HTC Packages:
From LEO: 3.14 (From TMUS HD2 including Manila 2.5.2018) .
From Rhodium: 2.10 (From ATT Tilt 2 including Manila 2.5.2013) .
From Oboe (Com3): 1.18 including Manila 2021
From Huasan (com3): 1.27
Pls feel free to comment about your experiencies on the different branches, and we will update the post.
Also I had a few questions/answers:
a) Does anyone know which is the WM6.5 build that is included on the devices which appear on the 6-oct? and which is the one found in the latest LEO?
Reply post #8: in Austria Samsung OMNIA II with WM 6.5 build 21856.5.0.65
b) Seen a lot of discussion about ‘page pool’. Is it something that normal users have to know, or is it just for cookers?
Reply post #8: Yes, you can improve the speed of the rom you're about to flash, but it will reduce the program memory
c) Why Manila (HTC TouchFlo/ Sense) can not be found as a Cab?
There are some developers which have created some instalable CABs, but as a general rule if you want to update your manila you need to flash a new ROM with the Manila version you want.
Rgds
Thanks
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for info. Also looking for answers to your questions.
nice work
I wouldn't call those ugly fat buttons in the later versions "eye candy" though, seems people are split over how helpful they actually are, having tried them myself I found them to be unnecessarily large and wrecked the look of Manila. But each to his own I suppose, looks like that is the direction they are going with Windows 7
oh I believe the rtm version and the one on leo are the 218xx builds, they are far more stable and work well with Manila, you won't see any of the later fat button builds until next year at least.

Hmm... although the buttons at the bottom often don't look very nice - if they're skinned the right way, the do look great. And using MaxTTM to make the top and bottom bars transparent, it looks even better! And I just love that I no longer have to stretch my small hands all the way across the screen just to open the start menu or tap X ...
Interesting info, should shed some light for noobs and junior members alike.

c) 230xx = COM3, continuing development of 6.5.0.60
The latest one I found is the 23064.
These builds include finger friendly buttons, start button at the bottom and eye candy appearance, but seems that the Roms cooked with this build still have bugs.
We can find a few Roms form PhamQuang of on this branch and also Miri has posted some test versions. Hellonasty too: Maryone V0.01, V0.02 and V0.03 (coming soon with "Manila 1920xx" according to his last post edit)
Also I have a few questions:
a) Does anyone know which is the WM6.5 build that is included on the devices which appear on the 6-oct? Here in Austria I bought a Samsung OMNIA II with WM 6.5 build 21856.5.0.65

I skinned the buttons too, (or just use the htc black theme) but still think they are needlessly too big and push the rest of the screen up, and having start at the bottom just doesn't look as smart and spoils the symmetry, it's seems tacky and clumsy in my opinion since it was designed with Titanium in mind and not htc sense .
Personally I think they should put an option to have the large buttons in the "accessibility" or "ease of access" section in settings along with the large font size and text to speech options....
Just an update (if you want to insert it in the firt post): Manila 2.5 1920 is out.

thanks...useful info in a single post...
pls keep it updated if you can
23016 and previous were not finger friendly ...
Nominated for a sticky if you ask me.

Hey!
The way the buttons look is part of the WM-theme you choose. The one I use is called "htc black theme" (someone else here already mentioned that theme). With it, the buttons are no longer buttons but only the symbols - which already looks alot better to me.
And for the background including the bars you have to use MaxTTM (search for it in the theme section). It has a WM 6.5 option to get the background image to stretch behind the top and bottom bars as well: You have to open MaxTTM, head to the WM 6.5 tab and check a few boxes there. Since my HD is broken, I can't check the correct settings atm, but I'm sure someone else can help you with that! Also, there is a manual for MaxTTM which should include some useful information!
Thank you very much for your info. It is very useful for the junior like me.
Just some info to update the first post with: The screenshot attached is taken from Hellonasty's MaryOne v0.03 (which is bloody excellent by the way).
Good idea this thread. Hopefully, the OP will keep it updated.

Its designed for WVGA, but it is mostly operable on VGA. There's a pic a few posts ago that shows one of the issues. Another bug I found was after you would view a photo, the slider would be inaccessible.
Try it out though, it is able to be uninstalled via "Remove Programs".
Next time I install it, I'll post some pics.
All in all it is a great app/hack. Definitely helps cleanup your homescreen. Thanks Steve0007
Here are some screenshots of my VGA screen w/the mod.
I don't like how, in landscape, it moves the slider to the right side of the screen versus the far left where it was. As someone pointed out before, for VGA, the slider icon images are too high on the screen.
There is also a quick one second glitch in the slider bar (a white bar flashed on the screen for a sec.) when I open the keyboard on my Touch Pro and it turns to landscape.
I did not experience a loss of the slider after having viewed a photo through the Photos tab.
It is really cool looking though. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before someone makes a true VGA version.
+1 for a VGA version!
Love this mod!
How can I make mine transparant though?

[PRJ] [THEME] [GTX Flavours Released] [2016 Compatible] GTX Sense 1.8.5 Theme [W/VGA]

Head to post 3 for GTX Flavours
A New sense project i MIGHT be working on Here! Would love some feedback and suggestions.
Metro (WP7) Sense Theme Cancelled, More info Here
Manila 2016 Core Fixes can be found Here (WIlliam archbell Text, Empty Mail tab, Empty Calendar)
As you all may know already, after the awsome work ElCondor and Kamill put to the theme further development was cancelled. Therefore i'm starting this new thread which will carry on development of GTX and help maintain the theme.
WARNING: Please Backup your device before installing. Also before uninstalling remove all quicklinks etc, these seem to conflict with uninstallation. We will not be responsible for any problems you may have with this theme, but were always there to help.
Just wanna add that please use the search function as most of the issues you face may have already been asked before and may be solved. Also if you wish to look through the attachments of this thread, go to the WM themes section and click the paperclip next to this threads name.
Also, just wanna give out this warning, if you install ANY MOD's which are in form of a cab, it will make GTX uninstallable. So any of you who are having problems uninstalling, reinstall the theme then uninstall.
Remember, Stock Rom = Uncompressed
The GTX theme is originally made by ElCondor & Kamill.. Thanks for all their work they originally put in..
To continue to downloads Look at Post 2
All Addons & Fixes will be placed in Post 3, Check them out! Thanks to dandnj71 for keeping it up. (these will still work, although they may be outdated)
Head to Post 4 for ElCondor's references and help on keeping the theme running. (PSD's, Fonts etc.)
There is obviously a lot of work needed and i dont think anyone would be able to handle it on their own. Therefore we have put together a team for the later releases of the GTX theme.

By downloading, you agree that the members that released this are not responsible for any problems you might get by this theme.
You may not upload the theme to another server. You may also not use the graphics without permission.
I'd like to thank everyone here who supported us, especially the guys that have now taken over the project.
It was a great project to work on, it was nice to learn more and more, and working with Kamill was a real pleasure.
I'm glad that there's such an interest in our very first Sense theme, I've never made another Sense theme before this one.
Remember that this is but the beginning of new themes to come. I'm looking forward to skin future interfaces from HTC or from other manufacturers.
Thanks for all your help guys, the pressure was tough, but I'm glad we made the decision to give this project to someone else.
Regards,
EC
Guide for Creating GTX Styled Skins
Here's a little guide for creating GTX skins. Sometimes I see that the GTX style is being modified to fit one's own need, but I think this standard is a must to create the original look.
Let me draw some guidlines:
There are 2 main colors: Dark grey and a gradient from white (up) to light-grey (down).
Download the PSD attachment package which includes some high res buttons, arrows, checkers, etc.
Make sure that there are no sharp edges, everything needs to be rounded, but not too much.
Boxes, so selector grapics and more, that are white-grey, need to have a 1px stroke which you can see clearly in my graphics in the thread, and an outer glow, which is dark grey.
Again, you can find the PSD in the attached Zip, from that PSD you can copy the layer style.
Apart from the outer glow mentioned in #3, shadows should be removed from the design.
Absolutely no glow/reflection. I know that it's inviting to do it, because many people think that it looks good, but it will break the design.
There should be more white than grey.
For arrows, use the dotted arrows found in the original design. These arrows can also be found in the PSD attachment.
Use the "Helvetica Neue LT" font for optimal look. It's included in the attachment.
Finally, I would like to ask you this:
----------Search before posting!-----------
Glad to see the work put into this won't be wasted. Keep it up ElCondor, Kamill and Dark Ninja !
EDIT: Here is a small possible improvement, with a preview and the PSD. For details see this post.
thx to you
i'm happy to see someone continus this very nice project.
Thank you DN!!
right on!!! Can't wait to see where else this theme can go. Kamil and ElCondor came up with a beautiful concept and starting point. Love the "clean" and "pure" white look.
Great! I'm happy that there's a team in place to continue this great work.
Let me know if you need some help with images. Also, I was wondering if this theme can be converted for a QVGA phone for manila 2.0.
Do you need a beta tester?
Awesome. Hopefully NRG will have an updated ROM with this as soon as its available. Thanks for keeping it going. Also thanks to the original developers for being willing to let it keep going.
glad to see this continued
i'm curious
yay =D
Woop woop!
Not GTXed yet, but plan on trying out the old version, and then keeping an eye on this baby!

Lol, the thread was created earlier today silly.
Good stuff, glad to see this going somewhere. Good luck!
If some hosting space/bandwidth is required for more reliable file hosting/updating. for this project I have a idle personal server not doing much at a datacenter.
I've been working on layout for a wiki/blog/cms for my touch pro 2 and tweaks and android development.
always thought that some kind of CMS for rom/theme/UI development would be more effective than something that would be more conducive than having to search through some long threads of the same questions over and over for tweaks and such.
Look at the number of threads) 666636

[July 2011] [Theme] Sense Win 7 for WVGA 480x800/ Complete Theme

My Win 7 Theme was made for the HD2. I don´t know about the compatibilty to other devices. But i want to post it here after some questions and you can try it. I can´t give support, but there were so many downloads, that other users can help you, if you have some questions. I have no wm device at this time.
I think, many of the files will run also on other devices with resolution 480x800
Download of the attachement in this thread:

My Windows7 Theme
with many new icons - also in the most sub menus. Only tested with manila 2012!!!
I changed more than 500 icons, all are coming with transparent background. Some golden icons are implemented. It was the work of two weeks and many hours in the evenings and nights.
Don´t worry...your language won´t change after installation of the theme.
Many of the files you will see first time after using it a while.

Download here as a cab (Many thanks to Steve0007).
More of Steve0007: Here, here and here.
Please, post a feedback for the other users. It´s not much work and the thread is refreshed. Also take a look to the keyboard at the end of this post.
EDIT: One bug is in the theme-please copy the attached 695552fb_manila (compressed or uncompressed) AFTER installing the theme cab with Total Commander to windows of your HD2 and overwrite the existing file, because the integrated is not transparent. Then your 2nd slider looks golden like in the preview. Thanks to hatori for his information.
If you have the problem with 6.5.x, that the slider icons are a little bit to high, look at the posts 208 and 209, there´s a mod from Dioky (many thx to him) and all is presented well.
My used graphical tweaks: Look here

Don´t worry...all will be in your language.
It would be good to get a feedback.

Win7 Icons for your start menu
Here are 108 high resolution vista icons, 50% are "handmade". The rest is collected. All are coming with transparent background.
You need JWMD Icon Changer or hcomber to integrate them. The icons are named in english. Much fun

Thank you ...
Hi. Beautiful stuff ;-).
I've installed the theme, comm manager & keyboard on my Touch Pro2 - perfect.
And the sms in conversation mode just blew me away ....
The Droid Sans font complements this theme very well.
Only the dialer is giving me grief - I think 'coz of the BIG difference between the Rhodium & Leo dialers ;-(
Only the numbers show correctly.
Well ....
Good Job Guys & Thanx!
I'm sorry, but the Dialer Skin, Version Europe WM 6.5 ONLY does not work.
I try it in my Topaz, and the screen is fully messed up.
I get back to the Spigot BlackCanvas version working great.
Could this be fixed? Your version is very pretty.
Thanks.
Good job!! Hi, is it useable on the EnergyROM for Samsung Onmia 2?
I cannot give support for these files, you just can try them. I hope someone here, who own a wm6.5 device and has the knowledge,is able to change the necessary files, that the dialer runs also on other devices. I have since 3 month a DHD and cannot work with these things. I offered them here in this section after some questions and i´m pleased, that some of this theme files are running.
