I decided to start this Thread because every "new cook" here is trying to cook a good wm6.5 rom. But there are still Bugs and Mistakes.
I solved some Problems and i still got ones.
maybe we can all share Solutions we found so we can cook a Rom with as less bugs as possible
My Question here:
In the new 21501 build there is the runcc package. I didnt want it so i deleted all the related files and initflashfiles-entries and coked in the checkautorun, autorun and sdautorun (for UC).
In the initflashfile i created the shortcut of checkautorun for the startup folder. But after flash i got : "Theres no Application associated with checkautorun" (or sth. like that) i recognized that my autorun file was deleted due to it was cooked in windows directory.
So my Question: How can i get the normal Autorun thing work?
/edit. because none reacted i tried myself in imitating god. i took a ridge from adam and created eva out of it. i.e. i took some files from the older build and put them in the newer one.... exactly all the OEMdriver files and some OperatorPKG files... will see it it helps

Runcc is needed by quite a lot of HTCs apps, as a background process.
it's also how they are starting to do the initial customizations..

It's also one of the reasons why roms are getting quicker..

Runcc is also in the X1 roms...
as I said some software needs it to be able to run, it appears to be a file parser.
WM6.5 bugs ???

I've been struggling the whole year with it
But now it is working fine, hard to domesticate *****, but finally ported to the xperia: all working fine
PS: may I suggest you to stick to the previous 2500 build, no big difference in SYS-XIP filez

What a pitty. Looks like no one is interested in sharing Solutions and asking for them.
Seems like all the newbie cooks stopped cooking (haha expected that).
I'm still cooking my little roms I deleted the cc thingy too and had the same error at startup. I just ignored it. Would also like to know how to start the autoinstall at startup, still learning.
Did you manage to assign the right softkey when you're on the clock to htc comm.manager? I got the standard winmo comm.manager right now.
I looked up the regkeys and there's only the left softkey assigned...

I dont work with Runcc anymore ^^ Changed back to 21500 because of that.
As I dont include the HTC Comm Manager in my ROMs that wasnt a bug for me. But i managed to get the Bubble with the Comm Manager Link working like i want --> it refers to winmo comm manager (wrlsmgr.exe)
This Button isnt assigned in registry because its changeable (with new titanium tab there comes a new link)
I think we have to look for the solution in titanium itself.
I've searched through the titanium 800x480.cpr but there was nothin about this

I just checked out the new, updated Chome editor and it seems that you can change the softkeys with the app now.

You should also check out the new fave people panel. Pretty awesome stuff.
Personally I use wm 6.5 as my main os now and it just rocks. Just love the new and lite home/titanium. Great job from microsofts side.
There's also the known weather panel and an opera panel.
Also looking forward to see new panels coming.

Yeah in my Full Rom (Medium id coming today ) I'll add all the Add-On's to Titanium so its get a very powerfull GUI

BETTER (and easy) SOLUTION FOR COMM MANAGER NOT BEING LAUNCHED FROM THE TASKBAR ICONS:
Drop this tweaked commmanagerlink.exe file into the OEM/OEMDrivers folder
That's all
How I did it ??
I noticed all REGs and DLLs were pointing to "commmanagerlink.exe" instead of "wrlsmgr.exe"
I rebuilded the wrlsmgr.exe file and renamed it to commmanagerlink.exe

1- Copy SEMC*.gif (from R2A) into OEM/OperatorPkg or OEM/OEMDrivers
Write a provxml file to associate it with the starupanimation engine
2- Add the StatupAnimatonEngine PACKAGE to your OEM folder
Piece of cake

hm... in my opinion my solution is cleaner and dont produce unneeded files but everyone can decide on their own ^^

For the amazing cooks on forum. the medical program "Uptodate" no longer works when the new IE 6 is implement.
From my research it is because the new IE from the ROMS are missing the "IE modules"
Can someone please make a cab file so it can be actually be used in the newr ROMs?
Would be glad to make another donation for this to happen

just out of curiosity, are you using custom rom?
Yes I am, like i said in the first post, the newer roms all use IE 6, which does not include the original IE module.
Can some expert make the module into a cab? I been looking around, there are many of us who use this program.
Does it not work in Opera or Skyfire?

Update
I dissected the differences between PIE 5 and 6 and made a TEST CAB with all the registry changes
I used my SEX1 W4X.23 ROM as test rat, in fact lost Opera as default browser, but couldn't get into UpToDate (I have no suscription currently...)
I am not sure if this is gonna work, but can you give it a try please ??
If this CAB attempt doesn't work, I can try to recmod the modules too, and add them into the CAB
(before having to cook that previous IE version into a ROM...)
PLEASE TEST and tell us what happens

it's just the old files isn't it..
i can cab it up if it helps, but i cant see many chefs wanting to ignore updates to pie found in 6.5 (especially) and instead use an older one..

I am using Touch X. On 6.12C at the moment.
Any later version I tried does not work with uptodate.
Touch IT stopped working with Uptodate ages ago.
As for FixIE, it does not appear to work if the custom ROM has the latest IE imbedded into it.
I am overseas at the moment, will try your cab as soon as I get back.
Looks really hopeful with u experts studying it.
To answer Fard's question. It is Java based, it installs via a cab after the data are loaded onto SD card. The whole program itself is nearly 800MB or 1G i believe.
As for myself, TBH i never use IE, i always use opera anyways.
I will upload the cab for UpToDate as soon as I get back to the country.

just tested the cab with no luck. (tried it on touch X v10)
installed both gtrab's cab and fix IE, and soft reset - no luck still.
from the post I researched, it seems that the files from the modules must be included in ROM.
I am hoping this can be done via a cab? maybe a cab with the files?
Will try rec-moding the modules to files, and add them to the CAB

GReat well I think it only needs a couple of dlls from PIE..
I'll zip them up if anyone wants to test it...
[edit] on further testing I can only see two files in that package that uptodate depends on..
SHLWAPI.dll and it's mui file..
so here's one to test
Unip to /windows using a proper file program not the standard winmo one..
using gtrabs cab will probably help..
if this works it'll obviously be easy to cab the entire lot..

because opening a topic points to PIE 5, andd we have PIE 6...
well at least we are making some progresses, I'm glad to see more people helping
mm well running the exe through dependency walker just gives me a couple of DLLs
that was the only one that was in that package that's claimed to work..
I guess I can play with ida pro a bit later on.

yes you can help:
you linked the working modules, so you have access to them
use a tool called "recmod" and convert all the DLL modules (folders) into real DLLs (files), then post the DLLs here and I will add them into the CAB I previously made

Further noob question: How do I create a useable .exe file from a directory in this kitchen (e.g. sqmevent.exe). Is there a compiler of some sort included in the kitchen?
My ROM has lost this file and I am getting annoying errors, so I want to regenerate and replace it...

I rebuilt a Kaiser ROM in the past (which took me ages), and spent a while trying to do this for my Rhodium ROM with no luck.
I was attempting to reconstruct a Vodafone ROM, which can now be downloaded from Vodafone, so I don't have much need to continue with it.
However I can see that a simple step by step tutorial would be very useful, and possibly a 'rebuilding' kitchen set up specifically for this task, ideally with a folder to put in the part.raws + base ROM, and then a script that did the rest would be marvellous!
Sadly I'm not clever enough to do this, but if you're reading this and it'd be easy for you to do, please share it
I was too deconstucting the vodafone rom that i downloaded, its quite lightweight compared to some other OEM roms but theres still room to strip some stuff out of it, i did try and use the packages i.e. OEM SYS and ROM with the Visual Kitchen along side the EXT folder from my extracted voda rom but that didnt work, all i want to do is get rid of packages haha,
That said i think i managed to get rid of goodle maps, deleted the folder in EXP for the package and used visual kitchen, searched all modules for google and removed any entries for google maps, it doesnt show up anymore, whether or not this means its is not installed im not sure but i cut 2MB off the rom size by getting rid of it...

Id say if your learning then go for the Visual Kitchen, thats what i use as im just trying to understand how the file system etc works

I don't have a rhodium myself but recently was contacted by two close friends that are familier with my works in kaiser, hermes, and now fuze.
Basically Long story short, They asked if it was possible for me to port my kitchen over to Rhodium.. Too which i have!!
It has taken hours and is now complete!!
It contains, SYS,XIP,and OEM from latest Rhodium. But in toolset folder you will find oemxip if you feel like upgrading to the latest 6.5
also on the next post i plan on detailing how i did this manually
trust me it was painstaking and needs to be documented.

Rom Basics "well sorta"
To dump a OEM rom:
1: Download the oem rom.
2 Extract the ruu.nbh out of the .exe file it comes in using 7zip
3: open nbhutil.exe and extract the os.nb out of the ruu.nbh
4 drag the os.nb onto DumpTools\imgfs tools\dump_800.bat
5 drag new imgfs folder onto DumpTools\Packagebuilder.exe "this will create your basic file structure"
6 Drag os.nb.payload onto the DumpTools\Dump xip\dumpxip.bat "this will dump xip section of the rom"
7 in xip folder now drag each dsm file onto the DumpTools\Packagebuilder.exe "this will create your new xip folder structure"
8 to create your ext packages you will need to go through the newly dumped oem folder and pick packages you want and drag then onto the DumpTools\EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe "evirus Thanks"

To edit shortcuts in the rom:
1 open oem\oem_lang_0409\initflash.dat with notepad and edit paths as you want.
2 in each ext package you will find app.dat, open these with notepad and edit.
3 in oem packages you will find initflash.txt, open these with notepad and edit.

To create a ext package from a cab:
1 drag the target .cab file onto the DumpTools\cab2oem.exe and this will create a oem package.
2 drag the new oem package onto DumpTools\EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe, this will create your new ext package.
3 now you can place your new ext package in the Kitch_Rhode\ext\all\*.* for it to be in the rom.

1 open Kitch_Rhodium\Tools\Rhode.htcproj in notepad and edit your rom name in.

How to make kitchen compatible for 6.5:
1 edit build_rom.bat
2 on this link : set OLDKERNEL=1
3 remove the 1 so it looks like this: set OLDKERNEL=
now you can use real nk.exe for 6.5
4 in toolset2 folder you will find oemxipkernal for 6.5 you will need to copy this into your rom\xip folder "delete the one in there currently" NOW you can **** a decent 6.5 rom

to use real nk.exe for 6.5 you can edit build_rom.bat
on this link :
set OLDKERNEL=1
remove the 1 so it looks like this
set OLDKERNEL=
now you can use real nk.exe for 6.5

Thx for the kitchen. I tried to cook a 23409 ROM, but after flashing the TP2 stops at bootscreen (the one with all the red version information)
I replaced the 409 and the OEM part with the ones from the 0407-Lang-File from here and the OEM from a dump of my german TP2.
I followed your instructions at the 2nd post here.
Does anyone have any ideas what goes wrong?
PS: maybe let the kitchen creating a logfile could be a good idea

stopped at splash screen could be missing wincles module.. or corrupt xip.. did you replace xip for that also...
for 6.5 replace oemxip in rom folder with the one in toolset2 folder then use the new msxipkernal from dag

edit: I'm going to create a separate 6.5 kitchen for you guys and i'll put it on post 1 for you this evening.

Ok, got it working with your oemxipkernel. My own didn't work, don't know why. Now it boots, but with the start of every exe-file which does not com from MS or HTC i get a question if i really want to start it. My sdkcerts and policies from xperia seems to don't work. Will wait now for your 6.5-kitchen

The best news recently!
I have "tasted" the 6.5.2 update of X2 in some phase, I really liked it. I'm sure the 6.5.3 update combined with manila will make X2 to become the most comfortable gadget for my personal needs.

Im using a nb-NO lang ( Norwegian Bokmål ) , so that the dialer will display stuff. Or is there a way to force it to use the English one ?

for any other file than english you need to rename all 409 files to your country code
this will display english mesages !!!
if you want native language you have to translate yourself
I don't know if my problem has anything to do with FW revision (R1AD006).
First of all somehow registry import didn't work for me, only some registries were imported out of all I can see in the reg files. Then I made cabs of them and installed and all of them seemed to appear.
After this I was very happy when sence appeared on my X2! But then the problem came: in every 1-2 seconds the empty today screen blinked in.
I did a soft reset, then a hard reset and installed it right after again. But didn't solve the problem. And noticed that after maybe one minute the blinking turned into pulsating, empty today appeared more frequently but for lot shorter times.
I don't know what can cause this, any idea?
As much I was able to test it it seems to be quite fast!

1.backup HKLM\Init
2.delete lines with xkey,panelmanager,SlideView
i am using it on 006 for 2 days without any glitch

Try to install these.
The bkinking still occurs after pushing slide view key once or twice.
I have other issues also but before sharing them maybe I should try patch.reg but it doesn't work.
Error message comes "line 302 - unsupported DirID 1" (HKCR) and line 234 in HKLM.
Besides it's very good feeling to have manila on X2. Now I won't feel to change back to X1 every now and then.

First I had to uninstall some apps when i tried it before hard reset. I don't know if you use SE User Guide (it's 4-5MB) or pixel city panels.
I am not an expert at all either, only trying to discover registry things, just managed to make the attached 2 cabs of jerpelea's all.reg and manila.reg and manila works after installing them.
I encountered some problems in the People tab.
When I click the All People button Manila restarts, the same thing happened when I click Updates & Events in a contact...
Is there any way to solve this?
Same here. i have problems with people tab, media tab, music tab.
Manila resets every time i try to change something + i cant import pictures or music files.
how to fix this unstable state of otherwise great MANILA!!!
