Has anyone noticed that games that previously ran fine on Cyanogen now run horrible on both the latest Cyanogen and Dwang roms?
The roms themselves run (nearly) flawlessly so I was curious how a game would run slower.
Thoughts?
I have not had this issue... all of my games run perfectly fine.
If it is a 3d game, you know those do not run on dwang right... they should work fine with cyan's rom though.
roms with ram hack have a decrease of 3d performance, is it correct?
^ correct.
I can't remember which game I initially tried, it was a space shooter. Not 3d. Next I tried iDracula (I loved it for the iPhone) and it ran about 1fps on Dwang and about 5fps on Cyanogen.
If possible you might want to use the Rom Im running/ See info on my signature. Everything is as good as it can get at the moment. Im pretty sure Cyanogen is probably going to make the next release like this Rom release to please us hopefully.
not 100 percent sure if you CAN downgrade however. Use the search feature...
Downgrading should be like flashing any other rom.
@OP
What games are running slow for you? I have noticed bad fps in Parallel Kingdom, but I thought that the game was normally like that.

I only began to care about this when iDracula ran horrible on both these roms. It saddened me greatly. Such a fun little game.

looks promising and dev is offering beta testing for those who donate over $3. I dont have a paypal account, anyone test this yet?
thanks
WOW!
from what i saw that looked great!
i love first person shooters and will sooooo drain a battery if they get games like this on our android os!
Just donated five dollars, I'll post up a quick run down once I get my grubby paws on an apk
I won't risk donating for this one
The guy is the infamous Valdimir Silva - with the worst and sloppiest ports of games like Doom and Quake. I seriously doubt this one will be an exception, but we'll see. Please give us feedback if you get the app. I hope he actually sends you an apk and doesn't take donations for some vaporware or a doom WAD for Quake 2, which I remember exists. I bet his next "port" will be CS 1.6 - there's a doom WAD for De dust too

i want quake3 arena so i can play some instaunlagged on my phone
Force closing after one one run, however, during that one run, it's pretty smooth.
where do i get the pak0.pak? i'm having trouble downloaing in my area and it tells me to get the pak0.pak and move it over using cpu?
Unreal Tournament being ported to Linux is almost impossible because it uses the Unreal Game Engine, which is created by Epic Games and is NOT open source... I mean, you could get the code off some shady torrent site, but there's no possible legal way of porting Unreal Engine to anything other than Windows, Mac OS X, PSP, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Gamecube, Wii, etc...
The Quake engine's source code was released, so it is possible to run Quake now on a PSP, iPhone, ANDROID, etc.
P.S.
If there was an HTC Android phone with a full keyboard, a VERY FAST CPU, a high-res display, 512 MB RAM and some really good GPU, we'd be running Quake 3 and going to WLAN parties by now
Back to evaluating the game.
Pretty choppy on my phone. Not surprised, though.

what ROM are you on? and what phone? i'm on the HTC dream xROM 1.5r4 with about 40 apps (apps2sd of course) and my sdcard specs are in my sig. things runs smooth as hell with NO sound. WITH sound it runs a bit choppy.
G1 with the latest CM rom. I'll try it with no sound and see if that helps.
Thanks.
How do you enable sound
How do you huys enable sound. I saw there was a setting toggle while you are in game and use the menu of the application - toggle sound and toggle onscreen controls and I toggle the sound but nothing happens. Do you have to restart the game to get sound to work? A pretty damn good port btw - I regret saying bad things about the dev...
I am trying to run this, keeps F/C on start though. It ran after I first installed it but seems to hate me now.

UT is probably not the best example for a difficult linux port. "Porting" Unreal Tournament to Linux consists of installing it with the Linux installer provided by Epic themselves.

Well, I was 'till recently.
Seems only to be F/Cing for CM Donut users. I've been using XRom for a while, works perfectly (excellent port, no lag with sound disabled)
OK, I posted this in the old Angry Birds thread, but it got no comments, so I'm not sure anyone is paying attention to it anymore. Anyways, I'm so excited to have Angry Birds working properly finally, so thought I'd try to share again.
See this thread for details and download:

It works great for me on Floyo 1.2 with the latest OpenGL patch.
EDIT: The above link no longer works. The apk can now be downloaded at the following two links although I haven't checked to see if they are the exact same version (there have been a couple patched versions of this game).

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5115431/com.rovio.angrybirds-1.apk This is the apk pulled off my phone and uploaded to my personal Dropbox. It should be a faster download, but I'll probably only leave it up for a week or so.
EDIT
Sent from my HTC Hero using Tapatalk
Downloading it and will have a try
It works great with VR12 Flykernel 11c OC:710Mhz
Thanks.
? What patch? Using 1.1 and have still white textures....
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
The thread I linked to in the first post has a patched version of Angry Birds with the missing textures added back in, but somehow optimized to still run at decent speeds. So you'll need download and install the apk from that thread.
The newest version of OpenGL may or may not have any effect on gameplay. I just mentioned that I was using it in case it does make a difference for some.
yep working really well on elelinux 6.2
White
I still see some white textures but for the rest it works awsome
Thx
Not working on cronos gb

The ground texture is missing, is that normal?
Thanks.
I'm using FroydVillain 1.7.2 with OpenGL 1.1 patch and it still lags like hell for me.
working very good on my stock Tmobile G2 Touch 2.1
thank you

It is missing (the ground like a horizontal strip under the catapult) but I was assuming that since I am using an ad blocker and that's where the ads would go.... right?
Nope, it only happens on the Hero, tryed it on a Lg and the ground texture is there.
Angry birds will never run on the Hero
Without the textures, i.e. "fixed" version, even I get lag, and I have a processor that will happily sit at 748 when needed...

So they've been saying ever since the beta came out. then the full version came out and it was a little better. Then it was updated and made it 10x worse and then they got bored and released seasons...
Still though. Lets hope! Ive gone off angry birds lately anyway, Ive completed it (even with a tiny bit of lag on this version) so unless there are new levels in the reworked official release then I wont be needing it.
Shame really that xda members can crack on at it faster
Thread above is down - any possibility to get a patched Version of it?
Rovio has said that they will be releasing a Hero friendly version of Angry Birds shortly, so be patient and hopefully an official working version will be available in the Market soon.
I seem to have deleted the apk for the patched version anyways, so I can't post it up. Sorry.
Hey all.
So I'm running kabaldan's CM7. Bought N64oid and it keeps crashing a few seconds in. Thing is, it runs at fullspeed in games I've tried but it quickly crashes.
Anyone's running it successfully?
i´ve got my hands on a downloaded version since i would like to buy it but cant find it on market, if the market version runs like this one i won´t buy it, most games have problems, framerate wobbles a lot, either too fast either too slow ...
i have faith in the developper since i own snesoid, gensoid and nesoid and they run great
i just hope this isn´t another psx4droid scheme ....
It runs pretty well with some older games like SM64 and banjo kazooie,
But new games wont probably run smooth or even run at all... Well, atleast its a start.

I just got psx4droid working on my epic on Sunday. Then I switch to nexus and see around that the psx4droid app doesn't work on gingerbread. Upset. I got like 15 games on my phone. Before I download. Does fpse work on gingerbread?
Or is there something else?
Thanks.
Yes FPSE is better than psx4droid and he got very good performance
Sorry for my english
FPSE is much better than psx4droid. Highly recommended.
Psx4droid ran fine on my Nexus running 2.3.3. Just make sure you're downloading the latest version. I actually found it to outperform Fpse out of the box when playing Final Fantasy 7. I guess it really depends on the game.
Well after having some market troubles with the authorizing purchase loop for 3 hours finally got fpse. Works great. Love it.
Psx4droid didn't worm for me on 2.3.4. I thought I had the newest update I dont have it anymore to confirm. I got it straight fom the site.
Psx4droid works fine for me, make sure you're using good bios files, maybe try downloading another bios file and see if that fixes things. Roms run without a quirk as well!
Do you know how to adjust the sensetivity of the controlls? There's no over shoot for the buttons and sometimes it doesn't register the press. Very annoying.
Here is a gallery and video of my nook running a PSX emulator quite well. With NoRefresh and multi-touch, I can play these games.

Any ideas what is the problem?
Pretty sure it was @Deafcyclist comment that had the version number of the newest version of Fpse that worked with the NST.
My SD card got corrupted and I lost the version of Fpse that worked. Anyone remember or knows the version that works?

I never did mention which version worked. Didn't even try it out yet so I have no idea how to investigate this at the moment. Was planning on doing that around the time I recently lost my NST. So I'm now unable to even test this.

Sorry my bad. I know I found the working version number somewhere on this forum and as your comment was the only one that was deleted I thought it might of been you that posted it.
I've no experience with Ps or the emulator (not really a gamer) but a little poking around reveals that the initial flurry of posts on the subject occurred in Aug-Sep. 2012.
At that time the version of FPSe out was 0.11.25 so that narrows it down a little to that one--or earlier. It's possible, of course, that a somewhat later version might still work. The current PlayStore version claims to function with Android 2.1 and up but Google doesn't think the current app is compatible with the NST.
If I knew how the whole thing was supposed to work I'd try it out, but you might want to start with those older versions first.

Thanks for the info. But the version I had was newer. It downloaded plugins and showed game covers.
The version you posted isn't any better than psx4droid v2 1.1.2 what runs fine on the Nook.
The version I had ran PSX games on the Nook at full speed without any hiccups. psx4droid v2 1.1.2 is fine but very sluggish. The version I had of FPSe ran PSX games at full speed even with all the graphic tweaks turned on.
I am starting to think FPSe won't run because I have got rid of the PlayStore. Pretty sure it calls home to see if you have bought it.
When I was running it before on the Nook I had the PlayStore installed.
