oh yes I was still using the R3 barebone too
My approach to ROM cooking is different to other cookers:
While other cookers usually make a new release based on every new build available (making releases countless and flashing a weekly -or sometimes daily- task), my belief is to use a stable, bug-free ROM
MAIN REASON FOR AN UPGRADE from R3, FIVE MONTHS LATER:
This is basically the same concept, but over an "officialy released" WM6.5 build
("official" buiilds seen on Leo, rhodium and Topaz, but taken from another "pure" source without manila)
PS: THIS IS A TEST BUILD, SCREENSHOTS WILL BE UPLOADED WHEN FINAL ARRIVES (I think this one is gonna be final; so far so good )

No panel manager... What will the X panel button be used for?

ThanX, gtrap it's nice and good!!

Very nice, no problems encountered yet

Nice ROM - love the clean, lean and mean approach. Only issue I am experiencing (bit of a show stopper for me) is that on occassion the unit becomes unresponsive when I try to do the "slide unlock". Have to pull battery to get back in. happened on previous release as well but doesn't happen on other cooked rooms. Almost like the screen stops responding to touch input. Any suggestions?

Tested. Seems good. Though in my view it's a downgrade from the R3.61 Barebone, since there is no kinetic scrolling in file explorer (dealbreaker for me) and there are other main features lacking (such as panels, weather etc, things which I use often). Like the updated camera. The Build is 21874.5.0.83, and seems to offer no improvements over 21815 in the R3.61. So for now I will return to that release until something better emerges. Still, no actual problems found at all

read above, it not the new touchflo 3d 2, its the old one, since the new manila is only working correct in englisg version, and its to buggy, i will relase an 3.0 beta 2, if i can iron out the bugs.
This release is SUPER STABLE AND FAST. ive been runnig it for 7 days without soft, hardreset, or anything, its like the duracell bunny
its not 2.2 or 3.0 its a new base for my builds, i finally got the perfekt base to develot from.
its alredy finished, i just gotta come home to upload it, later tonight probebly...
this is the FINAL ROM i will make before the new manila 2 comes out in nordic languages, and that will be mid june.
nice nice nice can't wait! 2.2 is fast and good, but this seems to be better!

Smaberg: do you know if it's possible to fix this, when pressing phone and to call a number, it's white on your ROM, is it possible to get a black background instead of the white? for example when enter the PIN code it's black numbers thanks
Thank you very much Smaberg it is very fast and stable
Thanks smaberg! Will definitely try this one out!

With the Xion 2.2 I felt like the reception were weaker than with the 2.1. Was that just my subjective feeling, or were there different radio versions?
Is the radio version in Xion X1 different from the 2.2?
And as allways, I love your work!
when I install Spb Wireless Monitor (latest ver) TF3D won't launch any more.
Even an uninstall won't help. Reflash is the only way. Bug @ Xion or bug @ Spb?

Complete "Best of Roms" for xperia out yet? :P

Hi, it's just so manny posts about all Roms out there. Which one should I pick for best results? I want it to be the fastest *doh*.
anyhow, do you guys recommend me to install a new cab, since I am using the new firmware(or what's it called) that SE released earlier this year. Don't know what to call it. That one, and alot of panels and tweaks. It feels like my xperia is "too much random applications-installed" right now, and I'd like a new fresh one with everything pre-installed. No overflod of unnessesary appz.
But with all the good out there, yet released. Such as all the Panels and great appz of course.
So, which panel do you recommend and why? (Fast and with alot of pre-installed stuff, settings and tweaks..)
Thx all for a wonderful oppertunity to fix the Xperia, since SE don't want to =)
(edit: Swedish rom would be nice)
I've tried a lot of the roms on here and i'd say the current best are either:
norti's nX1i v1.02 [LiteSpeed][UC][WWE/SPA/GER][R2A] - Best lite build with no TouchFLO and good UC pack.
itje's [WWE] Touch-IT v4.0 "Landscape" RC1.1 - TouchFLO lots included in build but no UC.
However once you know how to flash your phone it's worth trying out a few and seeing which you like best.
okej, thanks for the advice! I've read a bit about flashing the phone. Just to be clear, everyting on it dissapear right? (contact and such) Maybe I can just make a backup =) (any good backup sync appz, or just the orginal SE?)

download ppcpimbackup... do a search... itll backup sms/contact/appoiintments etc
btw, what's UC?
Tried the secound one you recommended, TouchIT. Sure, it's nice but damn slow.. :/ and no tweaks!
i think that jack 2.6 the best is.... totally bug free (except the known limitation on HD camera and TF3D 2) fast, stable, battery life is ok! youtube works, footprints works... tom tom works fine.. great rom!!
itje's [WWE] Touch-IT v4.0 "Landscape" RC1.1
Nothing Better for x1 developed yet...
UC = User Customization. It's a program that automaticaly installs progams / copies files when you first boot the new rom. You can tell it what to install etc by editing the config file.
Touch-IT v4.0 B3 was one of the best TouchFLO impementations i've tried but a little slow running panels. I also tried an older version of Jacks Rom but had a few crashes and found some apps needed registering.
I prefer to use the sbp panel rather than TouchFLO so I'm now using nX1i v1.02 [LiteSpeed] which is a very lite ROM with UC that allows you to pick and choose what addtional stuff you want installing.
It's so easy to flash the rom using the SD card method its worth trying a few to see what you like. I found a few nice features on different roms then applied my favorite bits from all of them to nX1i v1.02 [LiteSpeed].

your right and it is fast and stable
I use Jack's V2.1 Light, great base ROM to start from if you don't like Touchflo! I've kept it pretty light, installed a few tweaks and added PointUI 2 (Black Theme with a custom X1 wallpaper, starting work on an X1 theme now). Runs like a dream!
Before that i was running the base cMEX ROM, but i changed when the new firmware came out (there was no Touchflo-free version of cMEX running that firmware at the time). Also tried itje's ROMs, but they're not really my cup of tea. Very complete and stable, but not as fast as what i'm running now.
I just tried the Lite-rom, didnt like it at all. Going back to TouchIT. it's a shame that none of above recommended has Swedish as a alternative
Thx all for comments! Still looking for the ultimate one!

I think there is no best rom.
Everyone's work is perfect.

[ROM][WM6.5] Very light 23409 + Kitchen

This is a WM6.5.1 ROM, based on the latest WM6.5.1 OEM ROM and 23037 XIP/SYS from Da_G.
All it has got is the bare minimum OEMDrivers, plus a fully featured SYS (some of the SYS applications have been tweaked: removed extra screen layouts for LockScreen, removed SampleMusic etc, UPXed a few things).
The XIP has been tweaked quite heavily to get the best performance, and you should be able to add whatever you like to this ROM and it should remain stable.
Try it and see (and install whatever keyboard you feel like using).
This will probably act as the basis for some "full" ROMs afterwards.

Hi Please can I have this rom!!
Have been wondering why everyone is stuck on 23016 or lower!
Did you build it using ervius kitchen?
Would love this ROM with:
Manilla 2.6
Opera Latest Non 9.7 version
Default HTC apps that ship with the Rhodium - That's it!
And all default WM Apps including RDP Client, Office Mobile, OneNote,
Don't really have much on the suggestion side of things, I actually prefer the standard 6.5 interface over the manila. So maybe an option without manila would be good? Default apps only would be good too .
Anywho, I'm very interested in helping out. I've been lurking these forums for a long time now, time to help a bit.
Hi DOS - do you have the resources to build this ROM.
i.e. ervius and 800x480 res, xips, oem drivers for RHodium?
Let me know if you need any testing done! I am running this build on my fuze (cooked it myself) and I love it! Rhodium is much harder to cook for though, still working on my kitchen! LOL
Unfortunatly no, hadn't really got that far. I could just see what was available wasn't for me.

Everyone's "stuck" on 23016 because it's STABLE.
These new builds won't even work with many programs, so yea.
Hi Ace,
Didn't know that - what features or programs are incompatible with build 23022 upwards?

Idk, I've just been following the thread for the new 6.5 leaks. There's LOTS of problems that they have to iron out.
Manila doesn't work...Many programs have been reported to not work.
This is all due to the new bars that they made. The bottom bar is larger, which will overlap with programs, and causes problems.
But make this ROM, because it'll be fun to PLAY with. It won't be for primetime use, exactly. But it'll be interesting to see what MS is working on.
oh, I see!
So those new bars with the new icons break existing programs...
Thanks for the heads up!
Still want to have a play though - curiosity and all!

All programs "work" you just have scroll bars at the side. Hopefully, the change in the top bar will make the screen area available for applications about the same as before.
Everyone stuck on 23016 because it's the latest without the newest UI changes.

The smaller top bar of 23034 should make up for that a little.

Stable ROM with Win 6.5.1 and Manila 2.5

So....
I have a TP2 ( RHO100 ) and I have the stock WWE rom from HTC with WM6.5 installed but now the the HD2 is out I've seen videos of it with the new Manila 2.5.
And I have fallen in love with the wdiget home screen and new fully screen weather animations. I am also very interested in the ability to have threaded SMS.
I have tried doing some searches for ROMs that contain the new manila 2.5 but I am not sure which one would be best. A lot of them seem to make their own preferential upgrades, or they removed parts to make them faster, but I am a little wary they may cut out things that I want.
Can anyone recommend a ROM that is as close to the stock as possible, whilst just upgrading to WM6.5.1 and Manila 2.5, with all the original stuff. I'd like to customise my taskbar etc myself rather than have it chosen for me...
What can you guys recommend?
That's a good question. I don't know if a total stock ROM exist with 6.5.1/3 and Manila 2.5.
Give it a try

Can I also back this question, that is exactly what I am looking for.
Hi,
My experience...
I have tried many roms (energy, athineos, josh's, fusion...) and first, I think, you have to decide if you want:
- windows mobile 6.1(very old), 6.5, 6.5.1 or 6.5.3. There are separates into 2 categories (6.1 and 6.5 / 6.5.1 and 6.5.3). The most difference I have noticed is that the button "Start" is on the top left corner or at the bottom of the screen.
- manila 2.1 or 2.5. The version 2.5 is most recent but there are many bugs for the landscape mode. It doesn't work for many tabs. But it is the best of both version. The version 2.1 is working fine.
After, for all roms I have tried, every times I have some bugs. Often there are very very minor problems (example: bugs with the lock screen, freeze, slow performance...) and to solve them I just have to soft reset the phone. I think it depend of your provider, rom radio, utilization of your phone: bluetooth with headset, software you use...
You must also choose the design you prefer.
Testing is the best way to find your best rom.
Very big thinks to all chief who work hardto create these roms.
I hope it can help you and you can read my bad english;-).
Bye.

Bye.

Vinsyl, thanks very much yes, elab is right, you make some good points.
However, may I digress...
I have already done a lot of investigating into the differences between the builds....
- I mentioned that I want to see 6.5.1 because it's more stable and more importantly has threaded SMS, which is what I'm after more than anything.
- It's only 6.5.3 from what I can tell which has moved the start menu to those silly blobs at the bottom.
- After research I also came to the conclusion that it Manila 2.5 was heavily buggy in pre-release, especially in landscape mode..... however, having now seen a full release on the HD2 and I'm guessing working in full landscape mode with all it's own apps, I was guessing that one of the CHEF's will have had a chance to rip Manila 2.5 out of the HD2 and whack it in a TP2 rom.
So Remember, I'm not looking for a STOCK rom, that comes from HTC. I'm looking for a Stock ROM base, cooked up to WM 6.5.1 with a seasoning of Manila 2.5 and no further additives. Is there a chef willing to try something so CRAZY?!

6.5 does threaded SMS. (it's the first thing I turn off though, I hate it) You will need a tweak program to enable / disable, sometimes the cook will provide something built in. (sometimes in Start -> Settings -> System menu there is a "Threaded SMS" icon, otherwise use Rhodium Tweak Tool or HD Tweak one of those will do it)
And 6.5.1 has the "silly blobs at the bottom" same as 6.5.3
If you want start menu at the top you want 6.5 (or 6.1 I suppose). Also if you are looking for STABLE you want 6.5.
6.5.1 / 6.5.3 are from leaked Microsoft BETA code and therefore aren't really designed to be stable, of course you may find they are stable for you, I used to run a 23064 (one of last 23xxx builds with start menu at top) EnergyROM and it was awesome. Also with the build numbers, a general rule is 21xxx is 6.5, 23xxx is 6.5.1 and 28xxx is 6.5.3. But there is a better post you may want to search for regarding this, goes into more detail if you are interested.
Good luck in your quest

[ROM] [WWE] Typako v1.0 [WM6.1] [Lite] [no-panel] [no-manila]

=====================================================
*** UPDATE 13 APR Ultralite Version uploaded ***
*** ATTENTION THE ULTRALITE ROM IS UNTESTED ***
Apologies, I really don't have spare time to flash and test this ROM. Normally, it should work fine, because I just removed some packages and files.
For the same reason (sort of time) I cannot provide any CABs. Everything you might need is here in XDA. Just search for it.
=====================================================
This is a simple, lite, WM6.1, build 21051 ROM, no manila, no panels, with few extra apps that has been used for long by me.
I created this ROM for my personal use, but I have now decided to share it for people having the same taste as mine.
I am not a chef and I don’t have much spare time, so I might not be in position to give support, answer questions, make changes, new releases etc. Normally it wouldn’t be necessary. If you like it, most probably you’ll keep it for long. If you don’t, I can’t do anything for you.
My recipe:
Removed
Panels
Opera
Google earth
Trial games
Handagoo
Sample videos
SE Comm-manager
Added
HTC Comm-manager
HTC FM-Radio (**)
HTC Voice Rec (**)
HTC Enlarge Start Menu
HTC MP3trim (**)
HTC volume control (**)
HTC Youtube app (**)
HTC SMS threaded mode on-off (**)
HTC GPS tool (**)
SD User Customization
Advance Configuration Tool 3.3 (**)
Htorch (**)
PIM Backup (**)
No Data (**)
Pocket RAR (**)
Softreset
Synchrotime (**)
FDC Taskmanager (**)
Total Commander (**)
UCWEB6-63 (**)
R3A camera with autoflash
Tweaks for speed and stability
Packages marked with (**) are removed from Ultra-lite version along with pics, most ringtones and some themes.
Big thanks to all people who created all these crazy tools allowing us to build our own ROMs.
Special thanks to Jerpelea for providing the kitchen and sharing all his knowledge.

Downloading this now, will test this one next time I feel like a re-flash
Seems like quite the ultimate non-manila build with all one might need, will surely enjoy this one
Thanks for your work!

I had tried jack's 3.3 myself and it's excelent rom. I just wanted newer WM build and different mix of apps. I am not sure which one is performing better.

No sorry. Just the stock office that comes with WM-21051. Version 6.1 or so.
i'm using your rom right now (flash it last night)
it's not as lite as i thought, but it's okay, i'll use many of the pre-install application anyway.
i'm still not encounter any error with this rom yet
the performance is good, not as fast as norti nX1i 1.04 (my previous rom)
btw, how can you determine the page pool size of your rom? because i see that you use 12MB (half the nX1i's)
--edited--
i found a problem with hTorch.
As you know there 4 option on hTorch, LED on, LED on (very bright), LCD off, quit. option 3 very bright LED is not working.

Thanks for the feedback.
After some experiments I decided to set the PP size to 12 as a decent compromise between speed and available RAM.
You may change it with the "PagePoolChanger.exe" tool from this site, BEFORE flashing.
I know the htorch issue but I was thinking it's a sort of h/w incompatibility. It was the same with a cabed version I had tried. Have you ever seen this bright led working normally on xperia? If yes I will try updating this package and produce a new ROM next week.

i think i've seen it working on one of the roms i've try, but maybe it's just my imagination.
if you plan to cook a new version, could you making it smaller? maybe remove some themes or sounds?
also, i think your rom drain batt faster than nXi (sorry if i always compare yours with norti's, it's one of my favourite )
---edited---
1 what do think is the best keyboard? could you cook it in your rom and remove the default one? i don't think anybody use that small little kbd
2 could you assign the X panel button to something? as you remove the panel
I personally like the small stock keyboard. I find it very useful when I write with stylus cause all symbols are accessible without changing layouts.
For finger operation, I prefer fingerkeyb 2.1. There are many customized cabs for specific layouts, skins and languages. Most probably you wouldn't like my choice.
I assign the X-Pabel button with AE Button Plus, again from cab installer.
I have made SDConfig.txt file on my SDCard and I install all my cabs after flash or hard reset. You could possibly do the same if you flash your phone frequently. No, I cannot provide my own, cause it contains personal settings and files, commercial s/w cabs and licenses etc.
I could possibly build an ultra-lite version next week. No apps, no sounds, no themes no nothing. It would be easy for me and maybe useful for some people.
that would be nice. but please provide cabs for some of the apps
Sounds really useful, that would be great of you Running your Rom now, works like a charm
Thank you!
