Has anyone tried flashing using JumpSPL. I suppose in thoery you should be able to use it on any device, and was wondering if it working for Imagio.
PS: Dump your orginal ROM before you flash a cooked one.
What are they chances it could brick my phone?
we would need a cooked rom first no?
It wont brick your device, as long as you dont flash not compatible SPL, Radio or OS. Need to cook an OS for Whitestone first and then flash. I can try it in my Rhodium, but it has HSPL already.
I am guessing it should work, as I do remember using this to flash HSPL on Kaiser.
It doesnt need to be cooked it. Just put in the device using activesync or file explorer after connecting to PC. Then u run JSPL. Flash the cooked ROM.
Once I've made sure I have insurence on my phone I'll cook up a rom and try this. If it works it would be a great hold off till a HSPL is made.

Yup thats what I am thinking. HSPL would be great, but until then we all need a good cooked ROM. If JSPL works it will be awesome. Maybe Cmonex would be able to tell us if it will work...
I realized after googling a little. That I have no idea how to cook a rom. If someone can give me a stock WinMo 6.5 with Leo SenseUI rom, preferably with the compatible SPL and Radio. I'll be happy to try the JumpSPL. Or at least point me in the right direction.
if only more cdma windows 6.5 roms were out there. could you the tp2 rom be used as a starter?

You cant interchange ROM between devices. It might cause to brick. So NEVER flash anything other Whitestone cooked ROM.
As a first step, you need to learn how to dump your phone and reconstruct it to a ROM just in case.
I am assuming VZW does not have an official ROM out yet!
The above link is for Rhodium, but not sure what will be different for Whitestone.
Then you take that reconstructed ROM, create your own kitchen with EV kitchen, and then start cooking!
But if VZW has released an official ROM, then cooking is real easy. Just get that ROM, dump and create a kitchen. Start cooking.
If you dont know what you are doing, then dont attempt this at all!

I already downloaded the rom dump and I've for the offical install from HTC. I just can't find where to download the EV kitchen.
I've got a rom dump and the offical install ship install from htc. I just can't find where to download EV kitchen.
Well that makes it real easy...here is the Kitchen tool that I use for TP2. Use that and dump the official ROM. Then, cook it again with your flavor, and try to flash using JSPL.
exciting times
I'll try building a rom tonight/tomorrow. I'll let you know. PS. Can you shot me a like to the Leo SenseUI. So I can add it to the rom. I just wanna change something so I know it's my rom not the OEM.

can you get what you need out of here?
No I don't think I can use it. It's a rom not a dump. I also download the stock Leo dump and don't know how to take the Manila files from that dump and use it on the Whitestone dump. Is there a wiki for this kitchen or something? ai6908 you seem to be on top of this any help?
Imagio(whitestone) rom dump here..http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=89422
Yeah, thats the dump I have. But sadly I don't know enought to make that dump into a rom. Adding Leo's Manila to it is simply to know its the new rom and not the stock one.

It has to be an official ROM. I know there was a link for official ROM posted before. Download that, dump it with Ervius Kitchen, then cook it again. Flash that and see if it can be flashed. I will see if I can do that when I get time.

I'm quite the newbie when it comes to ROM cooking, quite lucky to have a P4350 so I can mess around a bit w/o worrying about bricking the phone. I was able to flash the t-mobile dump using this method:
xander803 said:
I'll try to detail out exactly what I did. The rom kitchen was used for every single step. The directions provided with the program are not comprehensive but done well enough that you can figure most of it out.
1). Use the extract tool and choose "dump from bin" and dump the wing os bin posted on the first page. This dumped the contents to a directory in xdump.
2). After this "pkgtool" will run to separate out the sys and oem folders.
3). Move the contents of "xdump" (which should be the sys and oem folders and maybe a couple other files) into the "kitchen" folder.
4). Place the XIP folder and Aserg's os.nb, both of which are found in this thread, into the "ROM" folder. Aserg's os.nb will have to be renamed, check for details in the rom kitchen help file.
5). This is the step where cooks can delete/add stuff but I wouldn't recommend it your first time through.
6). Run "Build" and it should automatically create your new os.nb. We don't need to do any of the conversion afterwards because we can just put this os.nb in place of Aserg's os.nb and use his method to flash.
Please read through the rom kitchen's help manual as well as Aserg's help file for flashing the herald and make sure you understand exactly what you have to do. If you don't have an unbranded Herald it may be difficult to recover from a bricked device. I bricked my device several times before getting it but luckily I have an unbranded Herald so I could just flash an official WM5 WWE back on. Lastly, do this at your own risk, this worked for me but may not work for others.

What I wanted to know is what I would have to do to switch the T-Mobile rom with the PdaViet rom in this process of cooking. I have tried various methods, but have had no luck right now. The ROM image I create hangs at the initial bootscreen.
Also on another note, not sure why this is but when I extract the PdaViet rom and then compile it back together using the Pro Kitchen, the new image is always a bit smaller (like I missed something.)
Question: How did you CID unlock your device?
I didn't have to CID Unlock to upgrade.
Well I found out that its normal for the rom size to shrink using the Core Pro Kitchen, this is because of Tadzio's program. What I can't seem to figure out is why I can't flash the new build of the PdaViet rom without it freezing at the first splash screen. At first I thought it was the missing .rgu files found by , but I have found out that those were taken out for a reason, so that cancels out one potential problem.
We just have to wait a little more. Anichillus is trying to creat the Kitchen for the herald as he promised it. But now after exams he is in holiday. But after that he will present a new kitchen. Just wait a little.
And yes - his kitchen compresses the files more than other.
Keep on working and cooking. The Heraldforum needs it really...
I never liked PDAViet roms - so let´s creat own ones...
Thanks
Thanks for the update, and only reason I wanted to use the PdaViet rom is cuz it has the newest build. Guess I'll just work with k0ster's release.
Yeah man, i'll beta test any roms you create, I just paid to have my Wing CID Unlocked and i'm trying out PDAVIET's rom's now.

^^imei-check. It worked so far. No other wing user has tried, I don't believe, i'm the first guinea pig.
So I just started to cook ROMs for the herald and I have to say it is a long and enduring process, but simple enough that anyone who wants to learn is able to do so.
For anyone else who is interested I am using the Core Pro Kitchen to build the roms, using this rom as my base (very clean-also good rom to load to your phone directly. Doesnt have missing files unlike PdaViet rom when running PkgTool.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319142
I also found a very useful selection of OEM cab packages that work with the herald for the most part. If they dont a simple edit will do the trick.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319970&highlight=rom+kitchen+guide
Even a newb can cook up a rom using this method so there ain't no excuses.\
Cheers
So by all means all P4350 users start experimenting and cooking up ROMS so that Terra and Wing users have something to look forward to when they have an RUU.

anichillus told me that the artemis version should work.
BUT write an pm to him and he will give you a link to his "Hyper Core Kitchen" the complete new one!!!!!!!!!
Give it a try
im going to try this out again and see if I can cook something up. I tried and actually created a rom be4 but was too scared to try it out. ill see if I can have a release by the end of the week but my computers been acting up. imma try to get the touchFLO working also.
neptune, post your cooked rom up or post some pics. did u do a traditional rom or one with the Touch home plugin and stuff?

Would you be able to add that into your rom? It's a button free activation of the 3D Cube!
i'm currently cooking a rom using the Artemis kitchen, i'll post up how it goes, main issue for me is trying to make sure i'm putting packages in the right folder. I downloaded a .rar full of pre-mad packages so all I gotta do is drag and drop. i'm using k0ster's rom as a base but would love to use the official wm6 that was just released as a base as its newer and cleaner i'm guessing. we'll see, maybe we'll see some cooked roms from me soon!

It should be better to extract the REAL WM6 rom with nbhextract and then start cooking the rom with the kitchen for Artemis (anichillus Core Kitchen??).
ANd be sure - in about one week there will be a new kitchen from him
But please use the real OS. Not a ported one!!
^Alright, i'll try that tonight. What is the major files that people remove? (Transcriber, etc.)

Must be alot missing from that ROM.. only 41,5 MB
it would be really nice if smone like gonzo will take care of wings software like hes doing on vox..
Okey. I flashed this OS to my wings.. cant realy see any difference?
Windows Mobile 6 Standard
CE OS 5.2.16.22 build: 18128.0.4.4
Does not look like 6.1 to me? strange..
Gonzo released several updates, for example here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1997049&postcount=142. I would be nice if you could try to flash this one.
//edit: This post is more recent: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1997049&postcount=142

I cant figure out why.. I extracted the .nbh file, recompiled it to wing220.
But still, no go... strange...

guys, just wanted to say you should rather start from the source instead of starting from my rom which is still buggy and already a bit customised for the Vox.
You can download the original moto q update from my server here : http://ostiedbrosse.free.fr/Xda-Dev...GSZDRWNAPCNCMNSL003_secure_2803416007_1FF.rar
I found it on a chinese site.
BTW if you know of any other wm 6.1 standard version PM me.
Good luck on porting it to the Wings. It's not particularly difficultbut sometimes things don't work and you just can't locate the problem. + it takes a looot of time
Hi Dr. Martin Gonzo!
Thank you . Can you give us a short description which steps we have to do in order to port it?
Thanks,

Finaly getting somewere here now.. But a big puzzle sorting out all the files..
Made some attemptes flashing the 6.1 version over. But the unit does not boot like it should..
Anyway, moving in the right direction at least
you have to at least replace coredll.dll in the xip and you can get rid of hd.dll, osaxst0.dll and initflashfiles.dat
Also don't forget to replace \.VM in \SYS with .VM from an original s730 rom.
If you have questions PM me, give a quick smmary of all you have done me and I'll try to help you.

No, sorry. Just havent had the time..
Flash Hard SPL before you try to flash any new OS to your device..
Hard SPL, USPL, SSPL, SPL.....
As far as I know I have to run a file on my phone to unlock the phone so I can install cooked Roms. The phone is then unlocked until you do a hard reset.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm really new to this and everywhere it says: ROMs and Kitchen and also ROM Kitchen and I can never find what a kitchen really is. If search Kitchen I find all these kitchen files which people created, but is it something where you flash your mobile with? Like my Xperia I flashed from version 1 to version 2 (RCAA2 or something).
But I don't know all these terms and maybe they are so easy that if you don't know it you can't find it anywhere. For example when I want to download WinMO 6.5 it says: Kitchen and ROM, but I don't know the difference and just wanted to flash my mobile (which is rather easy i thought)
So can someone tell me the difference?
in the kitchen developers cook the rom's
a rom is the program you flash to your phone to update it
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kovsky&redirectfrom=HTC_Venus
a rom is more a image that you flash to your device than a program
kitchen is the programm you need to cook a rom...
to cook a rom mean to create your own image for your device
Ah I see, thanks for the answers. I just updated mine to WM 6.5 looks good, but as my endless GPRS is starting in may I know still want to use NoData, which is not working, so i'm going back to generic.
Thanks for the answers I know have more of an idea of the meanings
Hi, been looking through the various sections of ROM development forum, and have a couple of questions. I am new to this Windows based phones.
1) When I dump the ROM, does this Backup the ROM, radio and Protocol, or do you have to do them individually? Basically can I put the MDA Compact V back into its complete original state if I dont like the new ROMS?
2) Has anyone tried Flashing the Compact V, if so, any improvements?
Hoping some of you experts can help out a noob!
2) You need HARDSPL installed. Then you can flash any topaz rom on it. Trust me, you don't want to go back to the t-mobile rom.
Let us know how you get on, i'm thinking of doing the same thing
I dumped my rom from the mda compact v but I havent put it back together as nbh yet. Downloading the topaz kitchen to do so.
It is always a good idea to dump your rom before flashing a new one. If your phone develops a fault t-mobile will not accept responsibility if there is a custom rom on there and they will likely tell you that your warranty has been invalidated. Although the t-mobile rom is awful is always good to have it backup up just in case of the worst.
Saying that I didnt backup the radio though and I updated that to the latest last week
EDIT: To answer the question yes there are improvements with running custom roms. I have not moved to 6.5 yet as I have a heavily customised uDK 6.1 rom and cannot be bothered to move to 6.5 and do all the customisations again. There 6.5 rom appear to be slightly buggier from what I read but it does have its advantages over 6.1.
Backup the t-mobile rom and move to the custom roms just make sure you follow the instructions carefully
Thanks for the replys.
Pauloke: I have backed up the ROM (parts.raw) and I have also got the kitchen, but I really have no idea what I'm doing. Worst case, I have a copy anyway. The kitchen instructions get quite techy very quickly and they soon lose me. Is there any way of getting a copy of the shipped ROM online?

One way is to check the website of your provider. Sometimes you find the ROM (as an update) there.
Another way is to check the WIKI TOPAZ cooked ROMs page. By chance you find your ROM there.
Ohh man i must be rly stupid, why i cant figure out how the @#% i can dump my rom :S This dumprom tool is supposed to extract an already backed up rom right? i'm really confused :/
I'm interested in starting to cook, but as far as I know I need to have a stock ROM. Is this true, and if it is, why cant I cook on already cooked ROMs?
Where do I find stock ROMs? I want a swedish one, any 6.5-version and an english one, 6.5.5.
I have downloaded a swedish stock ROM from htc.com but that one is a .exe and I assume I need .nbh. Can I convert it?

You don't have to have a stock ROM but in some cases, it does help make it easier if you have one for your device.
You can open the .exe file with winrar and extract the files. The .nbh file should be in there.
Also, one of the new Kitchens I think will open up the .exe file and extract what it needs. Look through this Kitchen thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948

I'm using that kitchen and when I try to open the few cooked ROMs I already have I get this message: "Can't extract files or build packages from IMGFS structure. Please make sure the ROM is not corrupted and that it's an original ROM update released by the manufacturer."
WinRAR worked. Thanks. Now I need to find an english 6.5.5 whick can be opened in osKitchen.
You will not be able to dump most cooked ROM because of the way that the Kitchen put them together originally.
You should be able to download a source from the first post of that thread, and they have some updated system packages as well like 23541. You can also find the EXT packages there as well.
Found it now, thanks
Ok, I dont know if this cooking stuff really is for me. I dont understand what I'm doing. I managed to strip all HTC stuff from the stock ROM (a bit too much, a few things doesnt work) but that's pretty much it.
Maybe I'm trying to do stuff that cant be done.
My main goal is to get a clean WM 6.5.3/6.5.5 swedish ROM.
Should I get an english 6.5.3/6.5.5 ROM and change the language to swedish or get a swedish 6.5 ROM and upgrade it to 6.5.3/6.5.5 or do I have to find a swedish ROM which already is 6.5.3/6.5.5?

After you have dumped the Stock, you have the drivers, then go to the link and download a build, copy this into the folder sources, so OEM into OEM, sys into sys ETC... then launch the kitchen, select build and language. DO NOT DISABLE ANYTHING IN OEM AND BE CAREFUL WITH SYS!!! disable everything in EXT and you have a clean ROM
It worked! Not a very good ROM yet, but it starts at least
I've tried to change the welcome screen in the tweak settings but I cant see any difference. Where is that supposed to show?
