Hi guys.
I am looking for a way to increase the font size of the message (SMS) tab in manila 2.1.
I vaguely remember seeing a fix for this a while ago but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Just replace the 47dd6acd_manila file in the windows folder with the enclosed one.
Make a copy of the replaced file just in case you want to go back to the original SMS size...

Hello,
I've read that this file stores contacts, notes, calendar, and the like. In earlier OS versions, it used to be rather small. in the WM6 Tilt, its 16MB. The properties show it as READ ONLY and in ROM. How can it store and info if it is READ only? It would be great to get this thing reduced in a new cooked ROM. Any comments or suggestions on making the file size smaller? Thanks, MWP.

I also got this file under my Kaiser \Windows directory !

mxip_initdb.vol questions
I've been doing some reading about this file. This file is really large and I want to do something to make sure I have no problems with this file. I removed this file from my OEM_Lang_0409 folder and I'm not sure if I'm having any problems. I seem to be able to connect to activesync okay. Although, it seems like it takes me couple unplug and plug with the USB to connect. Can I be okay with erasing this file?

Well,i think now you can forget about this file!
First i cheked it with sktool,it sad than this db is unused
Then i copied it to my card and created an emty txt file with name "mxip_initdb.vol" and readonly attribs and put it in root directory. Reboot- everything works fine And my 16mb returns to me!
P.S.: my device is diamond with 1.93 rom

Interesting.. I suspect there's some very good reason for this file, as many cooks remove everything possible from their ROMs, and my ROMeOS 4.6 has this file.

i've the same problem with ROM coocked (Dib Diamond 1.9 - based on 1.93)
I've tried with your trick, but after each soft reset "mxip_initdb.vol" returns to 16Mb!
I've tried also to delete it, but again, after each soft reset "mxip_initdb.vol" reappears...

Main storage has only 15 MB free.
So it is inconvenient and laborious to put every file with file manager in the internal storage!
Try using a cab named 'hc4_obex_inbox' from http://rapidshare.com/files/133639584/_ROMeOS_v4_EXTENDED.ZIP, which is a zip file containing a few cabs that hang.tuah provides with his Kaiser ROMS [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411692]. It allows you to specify the folder to which files are saved.
I would have suggested 'Dr. Yar Bluetooth' but you can't see the home screen icon on the Diamond.

The file named hc4_obex_inbox.cab. Install it and you'll find a new menu item under Start --> Settings --> Connections.

I have tried several ROMs from here but eventually I decieded to install an original Dutch WM 6.1 ROM.
Now I discovered that in the original ROM I cant see the whole filenames in the standard file explorer.
In some custom ROMs I could, just like in Windows on my pc, make the collums wider so I could see the whole filename instead of ie: Backup_200..., where it should be: Backup_2009-01-10.
Does anyone know the tweak for that? Or the fix?
When I try to update with Windows Update on my HTC Kaiser there are no updates found, so I presume that its fully updated. Is it not?

But i made a mistake, i use to double-clic on the vertical limit of the name, in the table header and now i can only see the first column witch is file name (it takes all the horizontal space).
How can i now reduce the size of the first column (i can't access to the headEr column separator).

ok i have the manilla editor, and i know how to use it but, i dont understand how to edit the images and get them back to the format they need to be. i was told to export the icons from my phone for backup.which i dont know how to do..so i decided to skip it and try on a ready-made set. I opened in manilla editor then export to PNG and edit in Photoshop but now how do i get them back in the manilla editor? and i need to know how to backup my originals?..i have a sprint htc touch pro rom ver. 1.03 which i think is irrelevant but whatever..Thanks for the help in advance!

first if your manila is cooked in your original files will be there on the device if you delete the modified file, but if you want copy all files in windows with manila ext. to a folder on pc to back up. Next, just go to the original file you modded using manila editor and choose to replace it, choose directory your modded image is in and replace. beware though some images in sprint and att tf3d are a little tricky.

cooked? what does this mean? and i kind of understand what your saying but where are the manilla files? i have the stock rom with no programs really yet. when i search the phone through activesync i cant see the windows folder, i thought about copying to my pc using that method until they didnt show. Ok i just figured out the icon replacment in manilla editor.. Thanks for the help! now i just need to know how to back-up my originals????

on your computer, goto control panel, folder options, from there unselect "hide operating system files" or "hide protected files" and you will be able to see the windows folder on your phone

I wonder if anyone has figured out how to display foreign language font on ATT Fuze? I've understand that it has something to do with unicode. I was able to do that with the ATT Tilt by installing the tahoma fonts but no luck with the ATT Fuze.

attached is unicode-tahoma. you need to copy the files to both \windows directory and \windows\fonts directory. hope this will work. good luck

i am using the files on my att-fuze. i can read/write my phone book, compose text in ms-office (word, ppt and excel) and typing sms. all in vn with no problem. you need to copy the files to both windows\ and windows\fonts directories. btw, i am using rom from master NRGZ28 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536751). this is the best rom out there.

Hello: I just copy those 2 files to the fonts folder and the windows folders but still nothing change. I am using the ATT stock rom. Could it be the reason the Tahoma fonts can't display properly?

you may try to use Total Commander instead of win-explorer to perform copy and paste. win-explorer is useless.

Hi I am looking to solve the same issue. I have the FUZE but I am in China right now and my phone cannot read chinese characters. I dled the tahoma fonts and pasted them into the windows directory and the fonts directory but it did not work. I used Total commander. I also am not clear on whether to the folder vn_tahoma or the files themselves into the directory? I did both but it did not work. Thanks.
