Will a radio installation cause IMEI corruption?? - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Sorry experts this might be a dumb question, but actually can it happen???
I haven't flashed any radio yet and I wish to flash one for more signal reception...Moreover will there be any problems if I flash a Radio of a Non-X1 device (like blackstone or diamond,etc.). Will this affect IMEI???
Thanks in advance.

No. The IMEI is in essence, burned into the device and cannot be changed by ROM flashing, Radio flashing or any other process.
It's technically possible to change a phone's IMEI, but in the UK, it's not only highly illegal (up to 10 year prison term), it's highly illegal to possess equipment to do so.

Thanks flashpanda, my cousin's Samsung mobile(I dont remember the model, its a windows mobile 5) IMEI got corrupted automatically, the last 4 digits became 0's. When I took it to the Samsung service center they told me that its a Radio issue, and it can happen sometimes. They dint give me a detailed description about the issue. I dont know whether its a manufacturing defect of Samsung, but can it happen on our Xperia??? And will there be any problems if I flash a non-Xperia Radio (like diamond or blackstone) in my X1?? Moreover is there any IMEI corruption issues reported with Xperia???

Yes it can and does!
A necro post but it seems that it can happen, it could be a combination of radio spl and rom that causes it, it happened to me when I did my kaiser, thankfully I still have my hermes that I use for BBC but BAS only runs on the kaiser or better

I have to use my Hermes for that now and Blackberry Application Suite *yes, I have it!* won't run on the Hermes only the Kaiser, now you understand my predicament a bit better, would you say I am lucky...?

AT&T tilt camera fix?

Whats the lastest way to fix the camera and video camera on this phone. The picture is like very choppy and unclear. I saw another tilt camera and it does the same thing. Any solutions.
Bonus Question Whats a ROM?
Don't laugh too hard. I'm just a freshman at this.
what ROM are you using? I have no problems at all with my camera on my Tilt.
I guess the Att rom. i havn't really changed that much on my phone just added some apps.

Read sticky threads at the top about flashing HardSPL to your device, then you can choose a ROM to reflash.
ROM is like... mmm like package: OS + lots of different software.
I'd recommend Dutty's v4 ROM for Tilt.
ALso, make sure that you understand the risks of flashing. This may void your warranty with AT&T (not like they really give one, though..) or even brick your device (make it totaly useless) it you're not doing it right.
Read, read, read. It's fun stuff, really.
Do i lose my info on my phone and all my apps and settings when I flash?
Got a link for Dutty's v4 ROM

Go read some more stuff on flashing as well as the camera (drivers, etc)
You seem to be seeking basic knowledge which is available around here by just searching.

Previous poster is right - go read up on it. It's a commitment you want to be ready for. Or you gonna flash Dutty's v4, see "TV static" screen, freak out and pass out. Or something.
But yes, you will lose everything. So sync up with outlook and make backups (hint: use PIM backup (google it)).
Software-wise - you can get everything here. If you have software you paid for, then save install packages someone in safe place (NOT ON PHONE) along with serial #s. You can reinstall after reflash.

very first hit on Google
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Read-only_memory
Read-only memory (usually known by its acronym, ROM) is a class of storage media used in computers and other electronic devices. Because data stored in ROM cannot be modified (at least not very quickly or easily), it is mainly used to distribute firmware (software that is very closely tied to specific hardware, and unlikely to require frequent updates).
Google is very powerful tool, just need to use it often.....

Just a note (and a plug), Best Buy's service plan will cover you bricking your phone
Note: I work for Best Buy Mobile (Partnership of Best Buy & Carphone Warehouse), and my statement might be biased.. however, AT&T doesn't insure it, and I wouldn't trust them on manufacturer warranties for the tilt. However, I know there are other options available for protecting your device

Never actually had to use my warranty service, but square trade guarantees 5 day turnaround or they pay you your purchase price and warrant is I think 10% of your purchase price. I believe that it includes user stupidity; but, I can't be sure on that one.
Please hook up the camera fix. I tested out the nokia 5800 expressmusic vid at night in a parking lot in my car and man it was like a damn camcorder. Hook it up mah friend.
know of a good rom for my mom? Something simple? User friendly...? pm me ok.
This thread still poses NO solution to tilt camera problem
There are several things out there that I have tried and both of them caused me to not see anything before a picture was taken. In other words the viewer was black until I took a picture and it actually took the picture but I could not see anything in the viewer before pushing the button. Neither of the cab files I found solved this problem. After removing the programs, my camera was back to the sorry state it was in when it came out of the box. It's hard to believe that a PDA with as much going for it as the Tilt, has such a crumby camera. SOMEBODY FIND A WAY TO FIX THIS PLEASE

Radio version question

I want to install WM 6.5 on my ATT tilt 8925. I just want to know what ROM and what Radio Version I can use, because the radio version is 1.65.21.18. I live in Puerto Rico and I don't know if I change the radio he can still work.
You can use any ROM as long as you are Hard-SPL'd and regards Radio it will come down to many variables and only you will be able to find best ROM/Radio combo..

Wouldn't it be great if one could just indicate where they need the phone to work, and a list of radios could be listed for that location?
I know it is simplistic. Getting tired as I age!

Ain't that the truth, funny thing is that all of the radios I have flashed work in my area. Even the japanese one, just some better than others.
Hi
I try to unlock the phone with JumpSPL 1.56, 1.93, and 1.94, and Kaiser-HardSPL-3.56 and 3.29, and the phone don't install anything. It could be that my phone is refurbish?? What other options do I have?
I here you. Just so you know and are prepared. I have been flashing for 1 month straight and I cant get my phone to stay connected with anything other than the stock ROM. Not sure why but be prepared for a long battle. I have almost every radio available. Works for a day then dropped calls and network over and over.
I have a refurb and flash all the time. Follow instructions carefully and refer to sticky and wicki for help.

Camera is only Black

I changed to WM 6.5 last night. I had the AT&T 6.1 rom before.
With both ROMs, my camera is just black. Doesn't show anything at all (not even darkly.
Any ideas? It's probably not software if it doesn't change when I update the ROM right?
I don't care for 6.5 much, so I'm going to try another 6.1 rom in a minute...
Thanks
Your radio ROM is incorrect for whatever hardware/ROM revision you are using. Experiment around with different radios until you get one that allows your camera to work.
Nice of you to search for the oldest problem out there.

Thanks for the advice. I'll just assume in the future that if I search and find nothing, that I must have used the wrong terms, and shouldn't bother asking in the future. Glad you saved me.
I did search. Now, when I searched "radio rom camera problem" (after the 1st response) I got tons of hits. When I searched "8925 camera is black only" I got nothing relevant. It's new to me.
Well, oddly enough, I encountered a much more serious problem with the ROM I was using, so I went back to 6.1 (I don't like 6.5 for some reason)
After loading the AT&T 6.1 rom, the camera works...
Thats because the ATT ROM has an included radio, which evidentally is one that works with your hardware revision and enables the camera.

Ok- So Radio rom can be flashed with or without the OS rom? Good to know.
The radio rom has to match the hardware? Or the OS?
I'd like to give the WM6.5 rom another try, if I can get everything to work

A couple years late to the Kaiser party, but I still love my Kaiser and it my not be as flashy and my be a tick slower and may not have the spacious screen that the HD2 has, but with a custom rom and a little tweaking, it does everything An HD2 does, and I love my keyboard.
Windows Mobile isn't dead, it was just taking a long vacation while Steve and Bill and the others were playing the " fat cat " billionaire roles to the hilt while the company went down the toilet.
Hopefully Windows Phone 7 series is the start of a resurgence that will integrate Windows, Windows Mobile, Zune OS and XBox into a fully integrated powerhouse, before it is too late.
Maybe Apple overtaking them is exactly what they need.

It was also on the rom flashing tutorial
7. After I flash a Rom I dont have any sound in calls and the camera is black
The Radio has to match the version of Rom you flash i.e. WM6.1, an incorrect Radio will give sound and camera problems. Read The Ultimate Radio Thread to find a Radio that matches the Rom there are lots to try on there if one doesnt work then try another.

[Q] Wrong band frequency, software or hardware?

So, I got my SE Xperia X10 stolen... and I went for my first choice which was this here Google Nexus One... this thing has wings, and with 2.3.4 it is flying ever higher... BUUUUT (there is always a but!) I am on "E", so I went to my carrier (Cable & Wireless Panama), and everything was A-OK, no restriction, nada... went to the place I bought it from, and they say the GN1 was doing ok, just that the bands were not for use here in this region (Panama). My question, hope it is not dumb, can I flash the FW to be able to use my 3.5G here, or I am just S.O.L., and have to settle with having an awesome phone with a 2G connection only?
You can't change the bands. It is hardware based, not software based.

this gave me hope, and not at the same time... bummer! But thanks!

Either way, the radio image is the same for both sets of phones out there. The only differing thing is the hardware.
Now, if you flash a radio that isn't designed for you phone (if it even lets you), then yeah, consider your phone a nice big paperweight.

HTC one enigma that every geek would like to solve

Hi guys,
After a couple of weeks trying to solve my problem, I couldn't help but submit it to you all. What a shame!
I received an old HTC one m7 by a friend who is so rich he can afford to give away such a smartphone he gave up using it since he has a problem a few months since he bought it. The phone stopped working, so he asked a friend to repair it so he could use it again. Well, the guy who modded the phone (I don't know who he is) said the phone could not be reset, and he should have modded it with a cooked ROM.
And here we are. He flashed a ROM I still can't identify, with an improbable CWM recovery in Thai language. This ROM is jelly bean based, it's widely bugged and speakers don't work. Since my friend couldn't use the phone to make calls anymore, he switched to an iPhone (heart attack!) and abandoned this amazing phone.
Now I have the phone, and I'm going crazy trying to find a solution to bring the phone back to it's old glory. Since I'm a poor owner of Sony devices, I have no idea of how to mod an HTC, and unfortunately many guides on the internet expect that every single person on this planet knows what they're talking about.
Here are my troubles: I don't know how to check if the phone is S-off (and I have no idea of what it means) or what is its CID (what's that?!). I can't flash a twrp recovery, and I can't speak Thai, so I can't use the current recovery. I don't know if the phone is branded. Bootloader is different from the ones whom I find the screenshots on the internet.
Can anyone solve this enigma?
Here are some screenshots.

everyone on here is going to ask you this question, and so am I, we need your fastboot getvar all without the IEMI and serial number, but as you probably don't know how to use that, then do this for now:
hold down the power button and select restart, whilst the phone is shutting down, hold down the volume down button, don't let go until the phone comes back on, should come back on to what is known as the bootloader screen, please take a picture of this and post it.

Also tell us what your phone's original Model ID is. It will be written on the back end, at the lower side.
That way we will get the idea of your query from which region the phone was made to work and on which network.
Because seems like it's firmware was converted.
Here it is! Does anyone know Thai? Or Chinese? Or whatever the hell is this?

That's Chinese. And does not look like the HTC One M7 bootloader screen. The ROM also did not look like stock Sense 5 (bits of it did, but that might just be HTC apps installed from the Play Store). Get the fastboot getvar all results, but for now my suspicion is that it might be a very nice looking clone.

I'm wondering if there is any chance either to flash a ROM or to update it, because speakers and Bluetooth don't work.
It's an HDC clone.
