Hello,
I can't seem to get my GPRS working with my xdaIIs. I am on the Rogers network. I have the AKU3.5v2 R5 Xplode Rom version and the 1.15 Radio Rom. I have tried all settings and a combination of the settings. I found CABs by a forum member named Lurch, and they didn't work. Everytime it just says "the answering modem has disconnected" I do see the little "G" with the signal bars but that goes away after a few seconds. My eyes have become buggy from reading forum post after forum post. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Does GPRS works for you with different phone? Have you activated GPRS at your OP's network? In short words: No letter G on top of the screen = no GPRS connection possbile (Op is not offering such service: at all or just for you).
I have a data plan with Rogers. My xda IIs shows the "G" at the top of the screen. Today i tried a new older radio rom just for fun and still no luck. I have a nokia phone that i can browse the internet with. ANy ideas???
well...i think u should look up your the website of ur SP...in my case there are standard gprs setting for the whole network...i mean, there is a gateway, pass, username etc...and it isn't much fuss with a common nokia, but with the BA, i had to define a new modem connection with all the parameters given...so check the Rogers website for more information...anyway in some cases they send such sms that will configure your phone, but i think only for nokia, ericcson etc...
Try the following, I had it working before with Rogers (but I didn't have data plan, so the GPRS ate up all my money in pay-as-you-go, so I removed the setting), those hourly weather update from SPB do add up on data transfer.
Name : Rogers
Homepage: www.mymobilehomepage.rogers.com
Service Type 1: WAP
Gateway IP 1: 208.200.067.150 OR 172.025.000.107
GPRS APN: GOAM.com
User Name: wapuser1
Password: wap
Where do i put that information in. I can't find any places to put in the gateway info.I made a cellular connection (GPRS) then added the APN internet.com. Then the user pass wapuser1 and wap. But it will connect with the "g" and show the bars. then it will say "the modem has disconnected" I don't know what can be going wrong.
If I am correct, tmobile US will release their version of the Kaiser in the future. Does anyone know if HTC will offer a fully functional (for lack of better terms) unlocked kaiser. By fully functional, I mean with all the hardware features like dual cameras along with the ability to handle the 1700 band for tmobiles 3g network.
i have an unlocked kaiser on tmobile and it works perfect. The hope is that t-mobile will purchase another frequency that works with the kaiser!!!
that's all fine and good but with the currently available kaiser (and also the TILT once released and unlocked) you will not be able to take full advantage of tmobiles 3G network once launched. I'd like to keep tmobile as my US provider while still having the front cam for video calls.
I would also like to change from ATT to T-mobile with my current unlocked Kaiser. I am hoping that the current kaiser is just a, "Rom change" away from picking up the 1700 Mghtz 3G frequency when T-Mobile brings it out.
Anybody here have any idea, if the Kaiser is hardware capable of picking up 1700? You would assume, that it would be easier and cheaper to put the hardware in there and just disable it with software.

I wouldn't worry to much. By the time tmob gets 3g maybe late 08 in some areas maybe 09 there will be another latest greatest phone

Good point...
I figure in on the 'newer phone' liklihood as well. I had a Wizard and thought the remaining feature differences (GPS, Tilt display, faster processer, double RAM, double storage, SDHC support, etc) were more than enough to justify an upgrade. I am using in on T-Mobile with the great data plan. I have access to WiFi when I need speed (Sling, Orb, etc), so EDGE is good enough for uses at other times (casual web browsing and push email).
I'm sure they will release their version of the Kaiser before 2008 if they want to reap the rewards...and, I don't think they will release it without the 3g network running as their version is supposed to support the 1700 band. Of course, their version will be lacking other features of the hardware like the front facing camera. In turn, my original question about wanted a fully featured unlocked Kaiser remains.
Additionally, to the person hoping thecurrent kaiser may have 1700 support through a rom update, from what I hear the answer is no. I am told it is a hardware issue and the hardware on the current kaiser model is not equipped to handle it.

You might check this thread out. Dont know if it will work here.
I don't believe HTC will make a Kaiser for tmo here but this variation could come here. If you look at the phones released to ttmo and att most of the light and young peoples phones are released to tmo and the more work oriented are released to att (excluding the Iphone which should have went to tmo but was att shot to bring in some young blood. just my ho for what its worth

Thanks dwella,
However, i feel pretty confident that T-mobile US will release the Kaiser for many reasons. Mainly because they have already cleared their version of the device through the FCC and there is a Tmobile manual for the device that is clearly for the US market (as it mentions specifics exclusive to the T-mo US market such as My Favs, etc. They don't exist in UK). The FCC also list Tmobiles variant as having the 1700 band and as you may know, Tmobile US is setting up half of their 3g network on that band (upstream I believe). Since that band is not used in UK (or anywhere iirc) it's pretty certain that the documentation is for the US.
Then again, this is all speculation.
My problem however is that I want a fully featured unlocked Kaiser with all bands and all hardware options. I take residence in both US and abroad (Asia). Asia is no issue as the bands are common. Tmo US is my provider in the states though (and I have a really, really god data plan through them) and want 3g to work through them when in the US. Since the fact that they will use the 1700 band is my main hang up (otherwise, I probably would have had the Kaiser on day 1 )
The wait and uncertainty is killing me...I even emailed HTC some time ago about this but they have not responded.
hey guys, i'm also picking up the tilt and gonna use it on tmobile. just wondering, is anybody using the 5.99 proxy internet deal on the tilt? just making sure its gonna work, thanks

Can you give me instructions on the 5.99 workaround, I can't seem to get it to work with any of the settings here, nor the auto setting downloader.
start>settings>connections>connections
under proxy settings check: this network connects to the internet
check this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
proxy server should be :216.155.165.50
click advanced
http: 216.155.165.50:8080
wap: 216.155.165.50:9201
secure wap: 216.155.165.50:9201
socks (blank)
under modem, your access point name should be : wap.voicestream.com
name and password blank.
under advanced check use server assigned ip address
use software compression
use ip header compression.
Works great!!
The only thing i found I cant get to work is the MMS setting, though i did find the post for it, but did not work for me.. so if anyone has setting that work for Tmobile w/tilt, much appreciated..

Connect via: T-Mobile MMS
By the way, these are the default settings the "Auto Connection" tool gave me.
i am pretty sure i tried that myself, but it wont hurt to try again.. i did get it to work 1 time that was it.. now all it does is sit in either sent or draft folder w/ and red x next to the envelope.. thanks for the info!!
I just got the Kaiser for Christmas, and I got it working with the HTC rom on T-Mobiles network. My question is since my Kaiser was purchased on eBay and was for the Singapore/Vietnam market is there a US rom I can load that will better recognized T-Mobiles network. I have it working for normal phone calls and I am using BlackBerry Connect on it but every time I connect to the internet to use the browser it disconnects the BlackBerry Connect service. I would like both internet and BlackBerry to use the same connections. Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks in advances
I am brand new to this site and this is my first post so please bear with a newbie. Just got a great deal online for a new Rogers HTC Dream. I bought an unlock code in order to use the phone with Telus my current carrier. I bought a sim card and had my plan changed to a data plan. Now here's the part that is frustrating me, I can not access the Telus data network. The phone works fine for phoning and text messaging, wifi works great, but if I try to access mobile data network I get "No network Connection". I checked with Telus added the Telus APN settings and set as default and still no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Do you have a 3G or H icon in the Notification bar?
Unfortunately I have neither.
Try getting the Telus APN settings. Then go to APN settings and add it in. This SHOULD work.
APNhav
I called Telus tech support, HTC support and setup the Telus apn and it is set as the default all before posting here. However I still can't access the data network. Will I have to root the phone in order to access the data network?
As I know, android doesnt support WAP APN.
Does any body know can I configure APN to connect with WAP APN?
Maybe there is possible to write sth?
Reasone for this question: my mobile net. give access to some services only threw WAP protocol :/
I have the same question. I am trying to configure Vodafone Live for Greece which uses both http and wap protocol but no success so far. I can connect to the internet in general but not in live.vodafone.com, nor 0.facebook.com (here in greece the "zero facebook" requires vodafone live for vodafone customers)
I've just upgraded from 2.2, and now I can't seem to get 3G working with AT&T. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've tried fiddling with the Settings but nothing seems to work. Help is appreciated, thanks.
In the About Device, the Mobile network type listed is HSDPA, but the Mobile network state is Disconnected.
Have you checked your APN settings? Also what's your baseband version showing in 'About device'?
Please use WCDMA mode
Go to Settings, Wireless & Network, Mobile Networks, Access Point names and make sure you have one called Broadband (assuming you are on the ATT monthly data only plan)
If you dont, create a new APN and name it Broadband & make the APN Broadband as well. Just leave the other options and save it & select it.
I think by default it comes up with the ATT wap.cingular APN which doesnt work with the Tab Data plan.
Flash the bell modem then set the apn to get data and phone working after flashing stock 2.3.3?
