Not sure when it started.. but for sometime now if i connect my phone active sync starts and looks like its going to sync my contacts.. and even after minutes and i mean more than 5 or 10 it still on the screen where its just thinking with the green icon spinning. Nothing ever happens, i lost my 300+ contacts during one of these attempts and dont ask how, but someone how it finally connected and i got them all back.. so im not looking to lose them again, since i cannt get it to sync..
Either way.. i have 2 issues..
#1 connecting the phone no longer syncs my contacts..
#2 when disconnecting the phone it will cause my pc to crash.. im sure this has something to do with maybe the USB driver.. but has anyone seen any of these issues and if so what suggestions do you have that i can try..
i have tried a few things to try and resolve my sync issue, but since i lost the 300 contacts and took me 3 days to get them back on the phone, im not looking to delete my partnership again so that i can lose them and run the risk of not getting them back on there..

Hi all,
Here's a strange one for you, my data connection on my phone was working fine since I've got it (since launch) but all of a sudden, over the last few days, it now can't stay alive for over a couple of hours. To be more precise, it does stay connected, but looses the ability to do anything, for example, active sync sits there "waiting for network" and opera sits there "looking for host" and I can't view anything. It works fine before then, then just suddenly stops. Anyone got any suggestions on what this could be? It's really annoying because it means that my emails suddenly don't get sent through, and I never know when it's stopped working unless I manually check.
Regards,
DragonStar
I got the exact same problem, the only thing I didn't do so far is a hard reset...
The weird thing is that it DOES WORK for lets say the weather plugin in the today screen, but IE, opera, nothing else works
I'm having this same issue with panosha's v2 rom. Weather works ok, but nothing else. I really need it for activesync, and that just comes back and tells me I have permission issues, yet when I soft reset, it works just fine.
Sounds like activesync is the culprit here. Are you using activesync when the data quits working? cause i've had lots of issues with activesync screwing up my data connection.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360268
that is my response to how i get activesync to work and keep my computer connection separate from my phone's connection. If the problem described isn't the exact same thing i'm guessing that it something similar. i would suspect that somehow the settings in your network selection drop downs have been changed.
hope this will help in some way.
my gmail worked fine until this morning when i plugged it into my pc using active sync, one thing i noticed at the time is that active sync didn't do anything, i didn't think anything of it because i was only on to charge my phone really quick, it's the fist time i've had my phone plugged into my pc in about 2 weeks, it worked fine before, but now active synt doesn't do anything every since this morning now my gmail doesn't send/receive, i looked at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357829&highlight=gmail+error and i get similar errors, "error syncronizing" and the pop up bubble that says cannot connect, and gives you the settings or dismiss options. i can't see were i can turn off active sync on the phone either, i'm using vista home and a tilt, any ideas on what this could be?
Not sure about Active Sync, but double check your gmail settings to be sure you didn't revert back to the standard ports.
I've been using BlackBerry Connect on my Tilt for a few weeks, and it's worked well. Then yesterday night, the Tilt suddently stopped being able to boot past the Windows Mobile screen. I did a hard reset and restored a backup, and reinstalled BlackBerry Connect. Everything seems to be working fine, EXCEPT:
Every time I receive a message when the phone is powered off, it turns on. I don't get a message, and notifications aren't set to do anything when I get a new email. It doesn't even go to Messaging if it's not there already. It just turns on. And I'm going bonkers trying to figure out how to fix it--in part because I'm not sure if this is a BB Connect problem or a Messaging one or what.
Any suggestions? I see another message from someone reporting something similar, but saying it's the new Tilt ROM--and I haven't updated my ROM, so that's not the case here. But I *did* redownload the BB Connect application, so perhaps the new version is flaky?
Hi there,
I'm using my own 6.5 (custom) Rom (Build 23004). I use an hosted exchange
server for Direct Push. Syncing is working well without any errors. But sometimes
it just looses the connection and Active Sync tells me: "Last synchronized: ...".
Then i hit Synchronize and it stays connected for some time again.
This happens to me since a long time, I can't remember if this happened to me
using 6.1 Builds. But as far as I know I didn't get this issue using the stock Rom.
This issue is really annoying as WiMo doesn't even notify me about loosing the
connection, and then even "check email every X minutes works better.
Does anyone know a solution? I don't like to get back the "ugly" stock Rom.
P.S: I read some guys using a Tilt had this issue as well, if not using the AT&T
stock Rom, but the HTC one.
Edit: In the Attachment is the Active Sync log. Disconnect was at 10:35. Don't know if this helps.

For some time now I use 6.5 ROMs together with hosted Exchange and the problem you discribe hasn't occured to me once (been using 6.5 builds for about 3 months now).
Have you contacted your hosting provider? Maybe it's a setting in Exchange that causes the disconnect.
Not yet, I didn't think it was related to them. I'll write them a mail tomorrow, too late right now. A good input.
At least I know right now the problem isn't related to wm6.5 custom Roms.
Thanks for your answer.
Alright, I'm getting closer now.
Just taping "Synchronize" doesn't reestablish the connection. The last time the
error was probably related to bad signal (more later).
Yesterday evening the connection was lost again. It happened at 20:40. I
noticed it at about eleven o'clock and see there was no data connection. I
told active sync to synchronize, but it took twice until it finally established a
data connection. Syncing didn't work either. So I tried to access the web using
Opera, but no page was loaded, it just showed me the white screen, no error
message.
So, I turned the Phone on and off in Comm Manger, then it was working again.
I checked the log and it gave this line:
#2009-07-18 21:02:26.0000 AutdPing Ping received. HR = 85020003
At 21:02, there was the first sync attemp after the sync at 20:40.
The error code 85020003 tells me there is something wrong with the data
connection (conn mgr).
In Active Sync I get the error code 0x80072efd which is also related to
network problems.
So the problem is more complex I originally thought.
I'm really confused right now. Please, somebody got an advice?
Googled a bit trying to figure out what the error code means, some state you need to uncheck the proxyserver checkbox in your advanced connection settings. Others say uncheck the use SSL connection in your activesync settings. But none seem to be a conclusive solutions for everyone, so you can a least try.
Will try to find more....

Thanks for your commitment Lokatho.
I've been searching a lot, but didn't find anything that seems to be related to my problem.
I think this behaviour isn't related to Active Sync actually. It rather seems to be a
problem with the connection. All articles I found only describe errors coming from Active
Sync itself.
The weired thing is that toggling the Data Connection on/off doesn't help. My device
won't connect to the Internet any more (using 3G/GPRS). Only disabling and reenabling
the phone makes it work again. The error only appears after hours of usage up to a day
or more.
Seems like I need to return to stock rom for further investigation soon.
PS: Didn't contact my hosting provider as I'm moving to a better (cheaper, more storage, exchange 2007 instead of 2003) one right now, let's see.
Alright, I think I found the solution. I disabled HSDPA/HSUPA as my phone
only wanted to connect to my carrier data connection if this option was unused.
Now I turned it on again, my data connection was still working, and the issue
seems to be gone! Now I have to wait further (working for 2 days now). I'm
really happy now it's gone. Remember this if your running into strange
problems with your data connection
I've never had any problems syncing my Calendar and Address Book with my HTC Vivid. Now, all of a sudden, my desk top will no longer recognize that the phone is connected via USB; even though I can see that it is charging, so it must have a connection.
The only change was an HTC security update to the phone a couple of weeks ago.
Any thoughts on how to get this thing to Sync again? TIA!

in settings hit "pc connection" or something like that and make sure usb charging isnt default
Check that you have your mobile drivers on your PC! If you have drivers delete them and reinstall! Then try to shove in your usb to another port! If it isn't work get another usb and try to sync!
