Hello all,
I need to send in my (Dutch) HTC Touch Diamond for warranty. It had reception problems which I tried to fix by installing a new radio rom and hardspl, but unfortunately the problems persisted.
Now I have restored the latest original ROM (2.03.404.3). Only, I never wrote down which bootloader (SPL) was originally on the phone. I bought it brand new in August 2008. Any idea which SPL version would be most likely to be on a phone that old? I installed V1.93, would that be OK?
from my understanding there is only one stock spl, all the others are modified ones maybe im wrong i usually am lol
i sent a diamond in a few weeks ago that was bought brand new in may 2008, i put version 1.35 on it and flashed with the same official rom as you; my device was repaired without problems.
You've restored the stock OS and stock radio already i presume, after restoring the stock SPL you can flash the latest original rom again, cuz as far as i remember the official2.03.404.3 rom also upgrades the SPL to the latest official one (don't shoot me if i'm wrong )

Ok guys... at the risk of sounding like a noob, I'm seeking some clarification on the Greenscreen issue in relation to my experience this morning...
New Oz Telstra Touch HD (SPL 1.15) received last night... downloaded latest EnergyROM this morning and used latest USPL (2.5) to flash ROM (via Windows Seven x64 with reverted drivers).
I wasn't expecting to see the greenscreen issue but alas it booted with ugly g/screen... I just turned off the screen and did a little research, got confused, turned screen back on and all was good (colour had returned to normal).
It appears that the colour is only screwed up during the boot cycle... once finished everything returns to normal.
So, what I'm asking is can someone advise me what I've done wrong and how I rectify the g/screen... I don't wish to use HSPL and I'd prefer to keep the original SPL if possible.
I couldn't find what ROM version the EnergyRom is - maybe that's where I've come unstuck??
Your help is always appreciated,
Cheers...
Well I gave up on using USPL and flashed the latest HSPL and all appears ok at this stage (at least no further g/screen).
Hope this helps another Telstra HD user...
I think it was because you went straight from 1.15 to a 1.54+ ROM, and because you used USPL it didn't update your SPL.
By using HSPL the SPL was obviously updated to a newer version, if you want to use USPL I advise updating to an official 1.54+ ROM and then flash to a custom ROM.
I'd say you're right... I wanted to use USPL primarily for warranty purposes but I'm not sure what the implications are for flashing a later official SPL with the Telstra THD anyway so I figured I'd just bite the bullet and use HSPL (and hope that if I need warranty I can still access the bootloader to revert to stock!!)
Any Oz Telstra users out there who know if using a stock SPL other than Telstra can void warranty?

ive got a telstra HD, u cannot use the original SPL on new roms whether they are wm6.1 or wm6.5. this will give you the green screen issue and no reception (ie your radio is disabled)
flashing a newer SPL will void your warranty as there isnt one available from telstra. flashing HSPL will also void it. double edged sword really.
Crackwhores guide to flashing 1.56+ roms is a sticky at the top of this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
Any different SPL or ROM will be used as an excuse to void your warranty. If there was an issue I'm sure you could fight it in a court, but at the end of the day it would be many times cheaper to pay for repairs or get a new phone if they wouldn't fix it under warranty.

Bugger... but you're 100% certain on this?
can anyone give me a step by step on how to flash my ROM back to STOCK?
if you want it for warranty reasons then you will need to flash the SPL also to stock. you can just download the latest ROM from HTC website and flash it. it will give you the stock ROM on the existing SPL.
End of the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2710548&postcount=1.
Remember you will also need to go back to stock spl if for warranty purposes.
i have another problem, when in bootloader it wont change from serial to usb but was a week ago

nevermind what i said there, for sum reason it works again now
I've kinda got thesame question. I flashed a stock rom (latest EU rom from HTC site), then stock SPL (1.14) and then the stock rom again. Is this enough to be able to claim warranty without HTC finding out about custom roms/boatloaders?
Thanks

That depends. What was your original rom and spl? Are you entitled (via location) to use the new EU rom, eg if you live in America then this may not be acceptable to HTC.
When you boot up the new rom, are the screen colours ok as this will tell you if you have the right spl for your rom? If you have the latest EU rom, I doubt that 1.14 spl would be the right one, but it could be I guess. With the stock rom, you should also get the stock radio. So provided you have the stock rom available to your area, with the correct matching spl and the radio, there is no way to tell of your exploits
Thanks for your reply
The problem is that the screen of my device won't turn on anymore (Device powers on, I can connect with activesync, digitizer works fine) so i have no way of checking if I have the right SPL or not...
I also have no idea what my stock rom/spl/radio version was.. I live in the Netherlands, and through the official HTC site i flashed the latest rom, which included a radio (a radio version was part of the filename). What I'm trying to find out is:
Could 1.14 have been my stock SPL, or was that version never used on any Dutch Blackstone?
If the spl doesn't match the rom (wrong colours) that isn't much of a problem; I can tell them I tried to update my rom because I thought maybe my screen would work again after I installed the latest ROM... But if I have a SPL that was never even used I don't think they will buy that
According to the wiki there are 2 Dutch roms - one would require a 1.14.0000 spl and the other a 1.54.0000 spl. So I guess either of those would do.
When you flashed the rom from the website, where you still using hspl or uspl? Depending on the rom you flashed you will need to flash the matching spl. Do you have the full notation/naming of the rom you flashed. This should give an indication of which spl you will need.
As much as I appreciate ClydeB1 for assisting you, I fail to see a reason for this thread. A thread already exists for flashing advice, i.e. the dummies guide. Also the HardSPL thread exists and has advice on how to flash back to stock. So depending on your query post in either of these.
The initial query and reason this thread was created has been answered, so no need for this thread to remain open. Thread closed
Hi there,
I want to recover my device to the stock SPL. I have tried to download the stock ROM from the HTC site but it says "Sorry this software is not suitable for the device." Is every WWE ROM the same? If so can I use a WWE ROM from any region?
Thanks
Hey,
What is your device model? It should look like "DIAM100", a 7 letter code. You can see it by removing the battery and looking somewhere near the type.
If you have a DIAM110, then you're pretty much screwed as HTC provides no ROMs for them. You might be able to find the original ROM somewhere here, but I'd be careful or you might end up like me - during the restore of my original ROM I got a "corrupted" error and am now stuck in a stalemate.
If you have warranty though, I would look for your original SPL (hopefully you recorded the version). For DIAM110 it was 1.93. Just make sure you DO NOT restore the SPL until everything else works well. If you screw up your OS and you have the stock SPL installed then you're stuck.

My one is a DIAM100 and I'm running Olinex 1.40 unsigned with SatusROM 2.6. My original SPL is 1.93.
That is strange. So you went to the HTC Worldwide website and chose Touch Diamond? It should work... anyways I've seen a Hong Kong stock ROM here somewhere. But you can try checking here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_Upgrades. If you need to return it for warranty though, you need to find the original SPL (hopefully you remember version). To install SPL, you need to use Jump SPL (on this site).

A few questions:
my diamond (mda compact iv) is hard resetting everytime i soft reset after installing the gen.y r5.5 sense 2.1 rom. i have hardspl 1.4.
i've spent all day today ****ing around with the phone. i think my next step is to try flashing an official phone, hard reset, then reflash a different rom, then hard reset again.
1: since it was originally a t-mobile branded mda compact iv, do i need to find the original t-mobile rom or can i just flash any official htc 6.1 rom?
2: do i need return all the spl, radio to the original as well before i flash to an official rom?
thanks.
Hi, since you have hard spl, you can flash any official diamond rom. You don't need to revert spl, or to change the radio. If the official rom has radio inside it will be flashed.

I have a problem with my Diamond, HTC USB Sync Drivers which i downloaded
wouldn't work, i can't extracted them. No archives found????
Hi and welcome to xda , what is the os on your pc. From what I remember the hotsync drivers were installed automatically. Try to download the rom again, maybe the RUU was toasted.
I have a Bell Mobility HD7 but it's stuck thinking it's a Telstra HD7 T9296 rather than a Bell HD7 T9295...
Because of this, I believe, I haven't received an update from Bell for the "disappearing keyboard" thing.
Any idea how I can make it a "fully bell" rom? Do I need to do the "GoldCard" method?
sounds like you are running a custom rom. Is the spl an hspl or original spl (the tricolor screen seen when booting with vol-and power at the same time)? It should say the SPL v1.x.x or whatever version of it is the ospl, meaning the rom is stock and can only be flashed with another stock (i.e. Signed) rom, although for this you shouldn't need gold card, any rom updater should be able to flash provided it is a signed rom you try to flash. You will need to find the rom that came with your device originally, and the rom update package, should be easily available here though. If your SPL screen says HSPL Cortulla then you have a custom spl and can flash any rom you like if it is compatible, i.e. custom roms. That is as much as i can help you there, all the info is in the q&a stickies
Good luck with the hd7, i found it a pain in my butt..lol
(just stay away from the schudiag.img utility!)
Yeah, it's actually a legitimate signed ROM. If I try to flash a BellMo RUU it fails. One of Ansar's ROMs changed my device id and whatnot. So strange.
For some reason, some ROMs flash over others better..when I half-bricked my HD7 into a USB host bootloop, the only ROM that would take it out was an O2 UK signed ROM, and the phone is TMOBUS all the way..once I got 02 to work, then it seemed the ROMs that were failing previously suddenly worked..strange, I didn't investigate to determine a cause or way of deciding which one goes on top of which- I just flashed with trial and error since my phone was already half-bricked and useless already
By the way did you try to install a HSPL via the DFT XSPL installer? I would try and see if it would install the HSPL then try to flash another signed (or custom) ROM on top, that should fix the problem..
