Diamond Protection and anti finger print - invisibleSHIELD

invisibleSHIELD - Look it up for the Diamond my mate got it and it hardly shows any finger prints even after a days use and smudges whilst retaining the sheen of the device, also your back and front will be fully protected whilst keeping its form factor... if you have microscopic scratches like mine on screen that are obvious in well light conditions they will also disappear after application- ordered mine already...

They are available on ebay in most countries for Diamond - make sure you get the legit one as I am sure there are **** counterfits...

The ones for the iPhone are very hard to install and keep all of the little bubbles out, have plenty of patience when installing.

Although it is tough, the appearance after installation is extremely ugly.
Esp the screen.( no more grossy). I finally uninstalled it ( my wife said that my diamond is very ugly after the invisible shield, looks like an old PPC) and use other anti scratch screen protector and silicon case for body protection.

I have invisible shield for both 3g iphone and touch diamond...installation was easy actually but it doesnt look nice....u can tell theres something on the screen.

I've already ordered one but couldn't installed it properly. It was very very hard and although I tried to be very carefully, still a lot of bubbles remained under the iShield. I put it off again and now I've got no screen protector anymore. Instead I use the original pocket case to wear the Diamond in my pocket. I think my fingers won't be able to scratch the display when touching it

My friend's iPhone 3G looks MINT with it, literally can't tell it's there... But it was a ***** to install, especially around the corners.

I got one the other day and i'm sending it back, it looks apawling, far from invisible. I followed the instructions to the letter but couldn't get all of the little bubbles out, plus it just generally makes an expensive phone look like a piece of plastic junk.
Another thing is it doesn't actually cover the corners of the front of the phone so when i dropped mine the other day the corner got scratched.
Personally I wont use InvisibleSheild again as I believe their claims do not live up to the actual real world application.

Might make it look plastic, but I really can't say since my friend's iPhone IS plastic. Heh hopefully yours works out better, OP.

Mixed Views
Such mixed views - I have a feeling its down to having the patience to do the install properly - same my mates Diamond looks mint... hmmm

I had one of these for my Diamond and wasn't happy at all. I'm a very patient person but after a while it was just getting on my nerves. Trying to get it to bend around the case without leaving any air bubbles was just impossible. The parts that did stick down OK didn't look that nice either. It has a strange rubbery feel to it that I just don't like at all. I ended up ripping it off in frustration. Looked at their site and you can get your money back but you have to send it off to the states and I can't be bothered with the hassle or cost so I've just chalked it up as experience and will not recommend the product to anyone at all.

Flimsy back cover

i just bought the diamond 2 today.. i must say, the out-of-the-box speeed is fantastic! but has anyone encountered the same problem as me : i feel that the back cover is a tad bit 'loose'. you can move it from left to right when u place 2 fingers at the sides of the back cover.
is it me or is it the phone?

No, i agree, my back cover it slightly loose, it moves slightly, but just enough to be noticeable...

hmm i wonder if it might be because the backcover is too light?

My cover is on quite tightly. No movement at all.. May be I am one of the lucky one this time. Try puting a small piece of paper to see if it stops the movement. If it does, then yours is loose alright. I had to do that for my xperia ...

will they do a replacement for a flimsy back cover? the movement is very slight though.

mine is tight. I expect back covers will be the first things that become available from the like of cnn.cn, mobilefunshop.co.uk, etc.
I noticed that the locking mechanism is at the bottom. Maybe a sharp of paper will make it tight ??

Mine is tight as hell, too: I even have great difficulty removing it: the shiny finish makes it quite slippy and a lot of force has to be exerted to disengage the locking mechanism. I even installed a software reset, to much hassle to acces the little red button ;-)
Maybe the build tolerance is a little bit variable and you were unlucky? where was your D2 build? Taiwan, or China?

The back cover is very bad for everyone!
I hope that will be available soon to buy an alternative cover!
It would be nice to have it in metal or black leather.
I have no problem now with it but open the phone often for the SD card and soft reset I expect widening!

just got it like 3 days ago! im just worried that the problem might worsen over time?

I put a folded strip of paper between the battery and the backcover and it feels much sturdier now. Nevertheless the back cover is really ****ty, I swear I never seen such soft, thin and ugly piece of plastic before. Fortunately I like everything else on my D2.

My cover is completely firm, and my screen has no light leaks or gaps. I hope these are isolated issues being reported here. If your battery back is really nasty, then just swap it for another one, as it will reduce your enjoyment. Another advantage of this is that HTC monitors returns and will make changes to the manufacturing process based on issues. If there are no returns it will think everything is perfect!
In the UK we all get 14 days for returns.
I think the TD2 is the best non-keyboard phone at the moment, hopefully these are isolated incidents and will disappear over time!

I'm not sure what everyone is talking about and hope it's just a little movement you all are speaking of. Because if it is movemen like mine it is nothing really to complain about. The back to me feels solid and strong. The plastic is not flimsy. At the bottom the back moves a very little if you try to move it side to side. Mine moves less than, 1/4cm, a hair, an ants leg..... uhhh yeah. Pretty much nothing and you have to try to move it. Durring normal usage it is not noticable at all for me and doesn't move. The phone itself still feels solid despite having dust under the screen . I kinda wish it had a little bit more weight to it.

Case-Mate Barely There Review

Hi, first of all this is my first review at all
I´ve to say that this is in my opinion the best way to protect the camera and so save the smart design of the beloved hd2.
but ... there are some bad points I wanne mention,
if you want a case that you put on once and never/only a few times pull off, this is your way,
but if you do it like me peal off every day to put in a cradle you have to face some scratches on the original rubber on the hd2.
For me it was clear that i´ve to protect the camera and still have a sleak design.
The Case itselve comes in a plastic box with some micro fiber cleaning cloth and a screen protector.
There are no edges or bur that could hurt the hd2.
The whole case is covered with a rubber finish just like the hd, but i dont think so resistant (no scratches jet).
The screen protection is not so good, after two days there are a lot of scratches on it, so maybe I´ll peal it off.
It fits the screen nicely and there are no issues with the aproximate sensor

yea ... thats the big question.. I´m writing with my fingers and this protector get scratched, many many little ones, but there are even big scratches on it, think my pocket does this.... by the way only the phone in pocket... I´ll take a picture for u

That scratch on the corner of your HD2, is it from pulling the case off and on multiple times? It looks pretty ugly that scratch, but case looks very nice.
I think many of us have a need sometimes to pull it down becose sometimes we must reset it by pulling the battery out :\

yes its from pulling on and off, but i think its not soooo ugly cause you dont see it if case is on
for me its more important to cover the camera

I've got the Silver mirror-finish version of this case - it's very nice
Might add however that it's ridiculously snug - just got it today and now having trouble trying to get the case off

Is there a reason as to why Case-Mate states it will only fit the International version? Not the soon to be released Tmobile version?

I believe the intl version is a tad taller if I'm not mistaken...

I have the case as well (silver version). The case looks really sleek on the HD2. Nice and slim just what I want.
However I find it extremely difficult to take it off. It's just too tight. Any tips to take it off?

Oh, Im having trouble to remove this case off also. For the 1st time, it already scratch the rubber on my HD2. Really looks ugly. I love the look of this case, but I dont want my HD2 to have scratch. Should I return it?

Actually it is the t-mobile version that is about 1/4 " taller and maybe even a hair thicker at the top.

Yup, its a bummer I had ordered my case before getting the phone. O well, same exact thing happened when tmobile released the touch pro2. I order my protection before the phone because I dont want anything to happen to it, but then my protection ends up not fitting : (

T-Mobile HD2 is 1.5mm taller. Seems to be because of the logo on top. For gel/silicone cases it might not be a problem, but for hard cases and fitted cases - it is. It does not fit.

Barely any fingernails left!
I purchased the black rubber version and it is very unobtrusive and tight fitting - but that's my problem - it's too tight. I feel I am in more danger of damaging my phone trying to remove this case than actually dropping it! I am considering cutting slits in the four corners of this case to make removal easier.It's a pity because I really like the look of the case itself.

I bought a blue hard case made by HTC at radioshack. It is nice but it makes the keyboard hard as heck to slide out.

I got it too, seems like the keyboard is equally hard to slide out either way(with or without the case) for me, just a thought. I like the case though.

I've got it too. I like it a lot. I've never been a fan of cases on sliders, but this works pretty good.

The back is like my favorite part of it. Makes setting it down very nice and secure.

Does it protect the camera lens well? My only complaints so far are the volume rocker and when I put the phone down face up, the camera lens rubs up against whatever surface I put it on.

Yeah the camera is back from the case so when you set it down its completely off the ground.

That's the case my g/f got for her Shift. I actually don't like how the rubber provides a little bit of resistance when you pull it out of your pocket. Do you notice that? Or am I making that up?
I'm holding out for an offering from either Otterbox (Commuter or Impact) or Seidio (Active or Surface).

Funny you post this actually. Ordered this same exact thing from un-heard of website. It was on back order though, and sadly sprint didnt have this listed when the phone first came out. Wish I ordered it from them. Would have been tons faster.

got my wife this case and hers slides out fine.

got two of these (wife and I) I'm really liking these cases, nice and snug, and I like that it holds the kb firm without stressing it (don't really use it anyway) most of the slider cases have those flimsy clips that hold it on, but these are nice and wide so they don't look like they'll crack any time soon. And yes the rubbery part on the back is very nice, gives it a solid grippy feel.

Possible fix for scratched bezel

I saw a few guys complaining about the scratched/bumped bezel which looks ugly because the paint will reveal the metal underneath.
Well, I also damaged my watch by accidentally hitting it . Permanent markers are not a good solution because they do not last.
Apparently the bezel is made out of aluminium and only the watch body is made out of steel, that why, maybe, the bezel is less resistant.
Last evening though, an idea came to my mind, which I also applied on the watch. The result is promising .
Using some fine sandpaper (600) and some real paper after that, I completely removed the paint from the top of the bezel.
As a technique, I laid the sandpaper on a flat surface (table) and then I pressed the watch on it while rubbing it. After the paint was completely removed, I did the same operation but using a regular sheet of paper (to add a nice finish on the metal surface).
Please be careful: you have to press the watch against the sandpaper (laid on a flat, hard surface), not the other way around. In this way you leave no room for mistakes and the revealed metal will be uniform and nice, w/o weird edges.

That looks great! I know it's just a matter of time before I will need to do this. I have sanded/polished like this before and may I warn everyone:
Make sure you keep the sandpaper flat. If it rolls up under the face it will scratch the screen.​Better yet, only do this with a screen protector.

Really nice. You should offer your services for a fee, to do this for others afraid to do it themselves. Not that you'd offer any guarantees, but you have proof you know how to do it right .

Wow that's a great fix for this. Showed the scratches on my bezel to the lg team at ces and they were surprised and would follow up with me after the show. They said they hadn't come across this issue (which I find hard to believe). Like you mentioned OP the bezel is aluminum and the lower parts are steel and seem to be much more durable paint wise.
I'm hoping they might send me a new watch with some better paint but if not I'm definitely going to use this method!

it does look good, however once you do this there is no going back ........
if you want a better finish you may want to try crocus paper after you have removed the paint on the bezel, crocus paper is very fine and may give a smoother finish.

I personally think that looks fantastic and a milliion times better than a scratched bezel. Mine hasn't recieved any scratches yet, but seeing your results, I'm no longer panicked about that happening.

I did the operation on January 2nd (when I posted on the forum ). One full week passed since then .. no signs on the metal surface whatsoever (expected, it's aluminum and this does not corrode).
Here is a photo from today.

I've had my watch for a little over a week and don't recall hitting it against anything but this morning noticed my bezel has a scratch longer than half an inch. Doing a Google search brought me here.
I was going to try your method today. I understand using the 600 grit sandpaper to remove the rest of the paint from the bezel but how does the regular paper help the finish? My uneducated guess would have been to try a finer grit sandpaper such as 1200 instead of the paper.

You can use whatever finer than 600 you have (even coarser but you may risk it going coarser that that).
Unfortunately, 600 was the finest I had in house at the moment that why I used id. After that though, the metal finish was matte, missing that fine polishing .... there is where the regular paper got into action. If you use a regular laser printer paper sheet, it will act as a very very fine sandpaper, enough to give that fine polishing on the pure metal (aluminium in this case - soft metal, no other reason.

The entire process that I used is described in detail in the first post of this thread.
There is also the possibility to use a nail file (there are some guys who did that and the results are quite nice as well).

I should probably post this here also. I managed to ding up my watch pretty badly crashing my skateboard, and a user suggested I try this method. I did it a little differently by finishing with a 3000 grit and using metal polish cream on the exposed metal to give it a nice shine. Here are before and after pictures.

The metal polish is definitely adding a nice touch. Thanks for the info.
