My shift can't see SD card in WM6 but in Vista it work. Can someone help me, please. I shared card on Vista , on network but not happen anything . Format , I did it too.
I don't know what happen on shifts' . My card it work in other , camera, cell phone, PC and notebook but it not work in HTC Shift . Please e e e e e...
thanks a lot
The Windows Mobile side cannot see your SD card unless you make a network connection to it. How that is done blows my mind, after two years of trying still not working. But others report it can be done with resco file explorer or network tools.
Anyway, your shift Vista has to be ON, if you think you can do it while vista is OFF, then you are out of luck like all of us.

Has anyone seen heard of a program like WM5 Storage that works in the reverse ie can use a PC Connected to active sync as a storage card
Why you ask
Well I nearly always have phone connected to laptop and it would be good to have mega storage availible 75% of the time my phone is in use and this would also get all my tomtom stuff of my sd card and give me more room for games and non gps apps (I use laptop for charging at work while driving and tomtom is 1000 times better than autoroute)
I dont think you can, the most approaching thing a see would be to use the laptop as a mapped drive but I have no idea on how to do that with wm5/6, I used to do it on my long lost ipaq hx2210 ..... Try to set up a bluetooth network between the laptop and the phone or use a wifi ad-hoc connection...
Ayle has got an excellent idea, i used to do the same thing some time ago and after reading his post i tried to set up this kind of connection - it took 5 minutes.
i cant promise it will work for you cause i don't know what else can be wrong with windows ;]
so i just used right click on a folder i want to share, and turned network sharing on (simple sharing, not the advanced sharing wizard or osme other stuff windows offers), then you just give a name to a folder and thats it.
i use usb cable to connect through activesync with a reg hack on my pc that provides network acces to a connected pda (not sure it;s required for you but here it is)
LSPvalue.reg
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
then using total commander i go to \\lan
and create new connection: \\your laptop name\shared folder\
eventually you can use resco file explorer - its quite easy with it.
ok, i know i'm no good at writing tutorials but hope it helps, good luck ;]
I tried many different versions of wm5torage on my wings, and I can't get one to work I was wondering if it was working for you, S730 owners?
I tried with a 1GB microSD, and a 8GB SDHC with no success at all...even Softick Card Export trial can't give me access to my card
XP recognizes a USB peripheral in the tray, I can even see a removable drive with a letter ( G: ) , but my data isn't there (it's empty) and I can't write on it
I would be glad if someone could help me out...
Tried on mine, I have windows Vista and its working for Me, all directories and files are accesible for Me. I can make a new directory on the card.
Thank you for trying ! I guess the only thing I can do now is a hard reset of my device..... It was very tweaked to save RAM
EDIT:: I really can't get it to work Please, which version of wm5torage did you use ?
I'd also like to get WM5torage working on the S730 with WM6.1. I'm trying v1.80. A Removable Disk (G appears in Vista but if I click it I get an error message saying that it needs to be formatted.
So what's the secret mykie?
You know, I think mykie has a T-Mobile Wing and not an HTC Wings.
The Wings has a bad USB driver that can't properly be used by WM5torage, if I understood it correctly.
On the Kaiser (which has the same chipset as the Wings and surely the same drivers), they managed to make wm5torage work by installing Softick CardExport too (which installs his own USB driver, that wm5torage can use afterwards).
I couldn't reproduce it on the Wings with the SP version of CardExport
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?
WMStorage WORKING
You must cancel at setup->connection->USB to PC
Enabled advanced network functionality.
Do you know anybody, what means allow it?
frem, I did not find a solution to this problem yet. I'm using an USB stick where you can put your sdcard in.
jivo, it's the wingS we're speaking about.
I won't think wm5torage works for anything anymore :-/ At least on my kaiser it fails all of the time. I just plugged it into a Vista machine and I love how easy it is to just access the storage card. Vista would get rid of any desire for WM5torage other than the fact that everyone doesn't run Vista.

Hello there
As this is my first post here, allow me to thank you all for a great forum, with loads of help and interesting applications. You've certanly made my life better
I've searched for this but had no luck in finding anything similar, so please excuse me if there is an old thread outthere, and help me find it.
My problem is that I've primarily used Active sync to connect to my PC and have transferred much music, programs and other stuff through this channel.
Now I have become interested in using my Diamond as a usb pen drive for my car radio etc. and also want to use it to move files from place to place.
I change the usb connection type to Disk Drive, and connect the wire to the PC, and let it install drivers so that I can access the disk drive it detects.
But then I loose access to the 4 GB memory, and can only access the internal memory of the device. Neither from the phone itself, or from the PC.
I know it have worked previously, because I have tried it some time ago. But now it seems like it's broken down.
When I look at fileexplorer on the phone, the name of the folder just disappears as soon as the cable is attached!
What is wrong, and how do I fix it?
Needless to say the phone freaks out after this, since all my applications are installed on the extended memory, so nothing works anymore, but a soft reset and it's all back to normal. Untill I try the connection again :-/
As mentioned, there is no problem with Active sync connections.
I really hope you can help me with this, because it would make the phone even more useful to me.
That being said I DO love the phone, it really has the ability to do almost anything I'd like it to. Incredible!
Thank you in advance for your help, and for at great source of knowledge.
Best regards
Thomas Hansen
It's normal, the phones switchs the memory readable directly from PC, as a pen drive to gain more speed.
If u are using the USB Disk function, u can't read the memory in the phone, bcuz u don't have "inserted" into it...
Bye!

Thank you for you answer, but I probably wasn't clear enough about the problem:
The 4 GB flash memory is inaccessable from both PC and phone after I plug in the usb cable (it disappears), but I CAN access the "system memory" (where windows is installed) from both ends.
So no, I dont think that is what I am experiencing. I hope this made it more clear.
How do I fix my problem?
Thank you for your help though.
Best regards

sounds like the 1st free drive letter on your system is reserved for a network path.
try to disconnect the network drive or map the USB Drive manually.
regards
Draque
ps: Try it on a complete different system if this doesnt work.
I had tried it on 4 different PCs, all running XP.
Have no network drives on this one.
But, I'm confused now...
Because now it works correctly...
It opens the correct folder, for the 4 GB storage card...
And the phone doesnt crash afterwards...
I suspect an "Insufficient User IQ" kind of error... I just don't know what I did wrong?
If I learn more about this wierd issue I will post it here, and if you have any info, please post it, because I dont know what went wrong...
But right now my problem is solved! Hope it stays like this!
Well, Thank you for your advise everybody.
Best regards

is it possible when working to with wm6 to actually plug a sd card and see it?i have already tried and pluged a 2gb sd ram but when i use file explorer i cant find nowhere at all....but with vista i see it...is it a general problem with all the shift with wm6 or my wm6 rom is a buggie one?pls show me your lights here...
I shouldn't answer this.
But still I do.
If you open up your Shift manual, or the search function of this forum,
you will see that the HTC Shift just...
DOES NOT SUPPORT WiFi,BT, or SD on the WinMo side.
You are out of luck, except for this answer
Guys and Gurus,
i have an old iPAQ 6515 and my friend just gave me a Sandisk SD Wifi 256mb.
but i don't have any manuals for the wifi card, i already installed the driver, but still. it's not working.
and also, the memory inside the Wifi card is not readable thru mobile file explorer or resco file explorer.
if i slide in the wifi card to the slot, some wifi symbol is shown, but nothing happens.
after i search over the internet, i found that someone already fix this issues, but the thread that showing step-by-step is unavailable (i don't know for how long). maybe someone here has a personal note about that information.
i intend to give this ipaq for my daughter, so she can learning about internet in early age.
i hope someone has the solution for this issues.
many thanks
