i noticed whenever i push the apk it wont download properly it says theres a problem....is there a way to get the fave 5 apk to actually work any help is appreciated
No, the tmo app wont work with test keys..You need to have no-rooted phone in able to use that tmobile app...So no you cant use that and eclair is not out OTA from tmo so why would it work
Tmo servers will read the FW as 2.0 which isnt out on G1.

So I just rooted my G1 and installed Eclair 2.1.
For some reason I can't download anything from the market? Everything just sits at the 'installing' section of the app market and never really starts.
I would just install everything off the SD card but the ROM didnt even come w/ a file manager
Would I be better off installing a different rom or am I missing something? I am not recieving text messages either, but I was told that is because the G1 isnt compatible/working w/ the default message system and I would need to use a 3rd party app (Handcent, ChompSMS, etc)
Any help is appreciated
I have a retarded issue with it on my 1.5 Dream. Try signing into Google Talk. Not much of a fix... but if it works...

First, we need to know which rom you're using. Eclair is the version name of 2.1, not the rom. At that point, we might be able to help you. Also, roms generally dont come with file managers, you have to use your own. An alternate way to install your apps would be to install them through ADB.

Whomever told you that the G1 doesnt work with the default messaging app on 2.1 was lying. I can think of three roms off the top of my head that run it just fine. Hell, i've got it working on my G1 as I type this.
So once you get us some more information, perhaps we could help you out.
like the other guy said, i have heard that signing into google talk fixes the market download bug, also try rebooting, if i have this problem a reboot and about 5 minute wait will fix it.
whats the newest firmware? is it 1.6? and if it is, i cant find a link for it that works anywhere! can anybody help?

Depends. Do you want a rooted or non-rooted.
If you want rooted do you want stable or experimental?
If you want non-rooted then it's 1.6.
If you want a stable rooted then use CM-5.0.8.
If you want to try an experimental then try CM-6.0.0-RC2.
If you want a list of rooted roms look here.

Can't find the link? Try looking!
thank you very much, but ive found links to 1.6, but none of them work when trying to have them opened and flashed on my g1, i went to the newest rooted rom, but i think its rather slow, and would rather have the non rooted 1.6
Download DREAIMG.NBH from anywhere and wait for the phone to automatically say "an update is available" or you can download cupcake 1.5 then the 1.6 patch.
JUST GOOGLE IT!!!!!!
lol ive googled it! and have found liek 30 links of the 1.6 update, but they dont work!
What do you mean they don't work? Your phone is rooted, right? Then download any software from here (it does not have to be official 1.6 update, I suggest Dwang as a fastest G1 software I've seen) and flash it through recovery (remember to wipe first). It's really simple and I don't know how it might not work.
im saying, like if i unroot, and go back to stock and start from 1.0, and then i find one of the links on the internet that is the 1.6 donut update, while flashing, it will say theres a error and missing like x number of files and not work.
But i see what your saying thank you
Im extremly new at this. I have the cdma hero from sprint and i have looked everywhere on the internet for a way to root and cant really understand the answers. I have a build number of 2.31.651.7 and was wondering if anybody could give me the first steps to take in order to root. rooting for dummys u can call it. i just want froyo 2.2 if anybody could help me out i would appreciate it. I just want to get froyo on it the easiest way. then i wont have to mess with it anymore untill i can get the evo next year. right?
nobody has an answer?
I used an app called universal androot to root. Not sure if it works on that build though but there are a number of guides to root on this site.
i know, ive looked around and wasnt very clear on how to root and install 2.2 using my build
well try universal androot ,the worst that can happen is it doesnt work.Search for it by name and download using your phones browser. After root use rom manager from the market and install recovery image then your ready to go.

Are there any froyo roms that still have mobitv?....I cant find a apk that works with my att captivate....so i guess i need to go to a rom that still has it.
I have my Bionic rooted at stock 2.3.4 System Version 5.9.901. I am getting a bit board with the OS and want to screw around with the phone. But here is where i run into my wall.... I have the phone flashed on Cricket and in a while i will be moving over seas to the UK and i want to do the SIM card mod so i can use my phone out there. A few problems i have ran into with custom roms is some of the moto blu apps dont work like the faves widget i cant seen to get it running or like any of the ones on the app store. So any help would be great.
If I were in your position I'd grab the 5.9.905 FXZ, flash that into your phone, and then root it. The GSM mod works on 5.9.905, thankfully. You can then install other launchers that'll give you a lot of extra fun functions while letting you use Moto Widgets
