Okay so there seems to be a good amount of people here with Sprint and Verizon as their carrier, but there is not that much support for MetroPCS, which is a growing CDMA provider. I thought this would be a good place to gather information as far as what can work with the network concerning the HTC Vogue, MetroPCS, and Android.
So far this is what I have:
Data is for sure working on Donut AOSP, but I did have some issues when trying to connect with facebook and google sync, but I was successfully able to access the internet. I will come back to this build later but am currently downloading this in the themed version and I will report back on how it goes.
Using this Hero build I can once again get data, text, and calls, but I cannot get any data apps to work, therefore rendering GPS useless, which I currently can't even check to see if it works.
So the only thing that seems to work with Android with MetroPcs is Data (browser only), Text, and Calls. Not bad if that is all you need but in this case I prefer WM. But I will continue to fiddle with it. Hopefully some more builds will be pushed out that will hopefully resolve this. And using the SD card method is the only method in which I have successfully gotten data to work. Data is a no-go for me with the NAND flashing.
To set up your data the easiest way is as follows:
-Activate voice dialer
-Say "Open APN"
-hit okay okay to open the APN
-Click on your current APN to edit the settings or activate the menu and create a new one
-Enter in these settings
Proxy: wap.metropcs.net
Port: 3128
Username: your [email protected]
Password: metropcs
The other settings dont really matter. I always just left them how they were.
Credit for the initial data settings goes to L0GiC4L 3ViL.

No I never did try it. I will have to look into it though. Was everything that required data working (maps, apps, and weather?) or just the browser?
NAND method works on Android using MetroPCS APN. I have one running, but only WAP, marketplace doesn't work, youtube doesn't work, googlemaps doesn't work, etc etc.
I believe the reason for these not working is they have their own way of communicating with network, so they don't use the APN settings, maybe this is wrong and they (google) should fix it (their libraries) to use APN information?

If you work for Metro, can you find out how to get the google apps to work? I can browse the web, but that is about it. I am not certain if these apps are trying to go in through a restricted port, but if you could find that out I am certain that a lot of people would be more than grateful.
Did anyone get any of the apps to work via Metropcs? I have data working, but would love to sync to google for contacts, calender etc...
Thanks.

Nothing yet and patiently awaiting for a solution on this. I am pretty sure that it has to do with the APN info, but... I am not completely sure.

No market and no gapps as of yet. It could be Metro itself blocking the ports...

I don't believe that there is any way to unlock the phone via Android. It has to be done from WM. Check out my signature on how to do this.

I have a US Cellular HTC 6900 -- running Incubus26Jc's Super Eclair Lite 2.1 [RLS5] installed on the NAND. I'm having a hard time programming my phone number into it (US Cellular does not have OTA programming so I need to manually program it). I got the APN setup and was able to run the USCC PRL update, but just can't figure out how to program my phone number. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

This should be able to do what you want:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6097236&postcount=30
I've never actually used it to program a number and you'll have to figure out the hex format but it should work. In any case write down any settings you change so you can get things back to where you started.

Thanks for this. Although, I ended up flashing back to WinMo, programmed my MDN and MSID and then flashed back to Android again using Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo RLS10 Themed.
Sorry I couldn't test out your app.
Getting it activated tomorrow. Hoping the data will work.
Just as an update -- I got it activated. Everything is working great so far. Voice, 3G data, SMS, camera, Exchange email, etc.
Thanks again.
I know some have discovered how to access this menu on a WP7 device or two by dialing ##634# on the dialpad. We know this does not work on the HD7.
Has it been discovered for this phone yet? I'm in a bind where Wind Mobile has issues with WP7 devices and MMS messaging and read a few got it working by performing some changes within this menu.
No idea if this helps, but there's an HTC app called Connection Setup. It detects the carrier you're on and applies apn settings. Really not sure, but maybe it applies an apn for mms as well?

Actually that was my last resort and I tried that already. Sure it gave me a list of carriers to choose from but did not help even when selecting "Wind" in the end. I got excited for about 20 seconds.
People with Samsungs were able to resolve their issues by accessing this menu. So I have to rely on either someone getting the codes for the HD7 or if MS releases some kind of fix in their big update next month.
hi guy's long time lurker first time poster...
i'm having a problem with all sms sending 'failing' when ever i've got packet data turned on. its not something i've ever come across on any of my previous devices... any nudge in the right direction will be very welcomed.
p.s i'm on t-mobile uk if that make any difference.
Thanks in advance

check your APN settings and MMS settings.
They are sharing the same apn, but i've been playing with the setting (all know variations) but still every time i use packet data it will always fail to send any sms's.
It's becoming very annoying to have to manually connect every time i want to use some data.

Hey!
Just ask from you mobile provider, what must be your APN settings. In 2.3.4 you must ALWAYS put the APN settings manually. If you added them, save and pick it. ALL DONE!

Same issue
I have the same problem, bud.
Updated my Ace to Gingerbread and found I couldn't send SMS with Packet Data turned on. Turn it off and SMS sends OK. I'm with Virgin (UK) which I believe is the same network as T-Mobile.
Re-flashed Froyo and all works as it used to. After that, I fired up Kies as I hoped to get an official version that way and sure enough it said there was a firmware update available so I installed that. Turned out to be the official Samsung Gingerbread and yet again i broke SMS when Packet Data was turned on.
I'm back to Froyo once more and have emailed Virgin to ask if they can offer any advice. I notice another report of this issue on another forum where the guy called Virgin and was apparently told the fault seemed to be with VM.
Sorry this doesn't provide an answer but thought it worth corroborating your symptoms.
Cheers!
Use fla.sh rom instead. Its very stable and fast . Multi csc too.

I am having this same issue using stock 2.3.3.
I bought my ace factory unlocked using it on orange. Sometimes sms will send, but majority of time it will fail until I disable packet data.
I tend to email or use gtalk/kik for messages but the odd time I want sms this gets annoying.
Oddly I never had this problem on the 2.3.4 I tried from samsfirmware.
Got the same problem. Using 3, and they just gave me a new SIM-card. Gotta finde some clever way of disabling data every time I open Messaging
yeah im looking for a way of re enabling the option in the extended power menu but with out much luck, all the modded ones seem to leave it out.

Okay, gonna try to explain it.
1. Go to /system/app and rename Mms.apk to Mms.apk.bak
2. Install the attached Mms.apk (It's from CM6)
3. Download AutomateIt from the Android Market (Just the free one)
4. Open it and add a rule. Trigger should be "Application Status Trigger" and the app is Messaging. Make sure "Application Adtivated" is marked. And the action should be "Set Mobile Data" and "Mobile Data Enabled" should not be marked.
5. Save it and add a new rule. Trigger should be "Application Status Trigger" and the app is Messaging. Make sure "Application Adtivated" is NOT marked. And the action should be "Set Mobile Data" and "Mobile Data Enabled" should BE marked. Save this one, and you are done!
This will disable Mobile Data every time you open your Texts, and enable it then you exit your texts. The reason you need the CM6 Messaging-app, is that this tricks doesn't work with the original Samsung-app

Is there any way to install carrier exclusive apps on non-carrier phones? I'm not talking about OEM exclusive apps, but carrier exclusive ones.
For example I want to install AT&T Locker on my Lumia, but I'm not in the US, let alone on AT&T.
Can this be done?
Yeah, same proxy technique as for OEM apps...
I tried Reker's proxy: 117.135.139.179, and also another one: 103.13.29.118.
I could freely install OEM apps, but not that AT&T Locker one.
What else can I try?
You have to actually create your own proxy rules. It should be pretty obvious what part of the URL specified from your phone is the MO identifier; you just have to change that to another MO. (For example, T-Mobile USA uses "TMO-US" and Rogers Canada uses "ROG-CA"; I think AT&T uses "ATT-US".) Those "public" proxies are only aimed at the OEM apps, since normally the MO apps aren't worth anything to people who don't use that MO.

Yeah, I can understand that Fiddler isn't the easiest thing to run... Are you using my app to install AT&T Locker or are you using the direct URL? Also after you got it installed, is it requiring an AT&T SIM or something?
Oh, another thought... What device are you using? This app actually has some provxml stuff that gets deployed on Lumia devices.

I have a Lumia (1020). So what I did was using the Auto-responder function to capture the URL then redirect it. I changed product code to a 1020 AT&T (dm=RM-877_nam_att_205), change carrier to AT&T (moId=ATT-US). I accessed it with IE using the direct URL (bookmarked in advance). I think it worked fine, since it did display the install button.
When I opened the app, it displayed a signup/login window. After enter my credentials and hit login, it crashed, and kept crashing when I tried to access back to the app. Had to remove and reinstall. Then I tried to signup for a new account, it still crashed and crashed. From my laptop, I can login fine.
I didn't see anything on the app that said it requires an AT&T sim. But since I'd changed moID to AT&T, it should be tricked into thinking my sim is AT&T isn't it? And I did keep the proxy on all the time. If you can install and run it fine, could you give me some instructions about how you did it? Like what and how parameters should be changed?
I actually have only ran it on my 520, not even on my 928 yet... I just know it needs extra privileges once installed, as it shows up inside the Tier3 list. Check on your phone if its in that list if you can.

I'm a little confused here. It sure requires an OEM level restricted capability, which is ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_PHOTO_FULL, I think, so we cannot sideload it. But since I'm installing it from the store, it should be okay, isn't it? Like we can use proxy method to install Nokia Camera which obviously has this capability.

The app installs from the store, but the provxml that's inside might not be executed. Usually you can launch Tier3 using the dial string to check if it's fully installed. You can find the code in the WP8 Diagnostics thread in my sig.
EDIT: Never mind... I thought this app had one and it doesn't. I'll need to look at the xap to investigate...

I just acquired a stock Sprint Z2 Force on Oreo 8.0 and the usual Airplane / Quick Hotspot tap fix isn't working like it did on the E5 Plus and Z3 Play, both of which were also running Oreo - the hotspot never activates on the Z2. APN's are all greyed out and locked and there's no way to add another one as of now. I need Hotspot in emergencies only, but I do need it for those occasional situations. Any other workarounds? Thanks!
Update - APN's can be added (not edited or removed) when the phone first reboots, but adding the dun command to the default "internet x.ispsn" APN - under a new APN with all other settings duplicated (as was suggested) - doesn't enable the hotspot as of now.
