I just bought a TD2. Questions - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1) Landscape isnt working in HTC's threaded messaging, notes, microsoft word, event input, etc. I tilt my phone and nothing. The only landscape that seems to be working is when i create a new text message with WM's SMS.
How do i fix this?
2) The phone feels sluggish. I just got it out of the box. So i want to upgrade it/flash a rom?? (im new to this thing). I want the new manilla (with the contacts tab in grid form), I'm interested in Dutty's rom thing,
what do I do, or what do you recommend me do?
Is it possible to screw up my phone?
Thanks

Help with Manilla version explanation please

Hi,
I am a pretty basic user and way back when there was a change to Manilla that i really didn't like, and all newer versions seem to have this one annoying feature that almost kills all newer ROMS for me. It's in the messaging, specifically SMS, where (i believe) if u enter a message thread by clicking the message, there's a centered text box now and the soft keys have changed. Where "send" used to be, now there is "back." I can't tell you how many mssgs i've lost because i accidentilly hit the back button.
I think this happened from one version of Manilla to the next? If so can anyone tell me which version incorporated the change so i can look for the older versions, or if there is a fix out there to get back to simple threaded sms
TIA!
Thing you are describing is feature of manila 2.0 and higher. There is simply solution thanks to user CMYLXGO. Try google for "cmylxgo rhodium sms app disable". Install the cab and next time you tap the message you get the well known windows SMS application
oh awesome! thanks....maybe now i can get into 6.5

Recommend fast and simple ROM

Hi, I convinced my wife to get another winmo phone and she hates it! whoops. she was complaining that with the default ROM the calendar wouldn't show the way she wanted it and it was laggy, and the predictive text was mental.
Anyway I put the Gen Y D2 Rom on and she deson;t like that, mainly as the phone doesn't seem to be able to ring without soft reseting after each phone call.
So I just need a ROM which retains touch-flo but keeps the original wm6 style calendar, messaging, or at the very least keeps things simple without loads of extra stuff. The predictive text thing is the biggest complaint with both ROMS s far.
Is it jut a case of going to a better HTC Rom or is there a decent cooked ROM which keeps things fast and simple?
Thanks,
Ezman

TF3D and Mobile Shell

I keep going back and forth between the two on my Imagio, but I think once we get TF3D 2.5 I'll be able to stick with HTC's software. Question is: Will the Imagio handle it well?
BTW thanks for the resource here!
me too, I have been going back in forth between the current touchflo version on the Imagio and SPB Mobile Shell.
Has anyone come up with a tweak yet for touch flo 3d 2.5 for the Imagio.
SPB MS 3.5 for me
I have been playing with TouchFlo since the first version on the HTC Touch and it is just too much work. I downloaded MS3.5 and I couldn't be happier. It takes up fewer resources and the customization is as easy as dragging and dropping. I use the leisure theme with a five panel widget home screen. You can add picture frames as widgets among other cool items. The contact management is integrated with Facebook automatically and the smart dial is awesome. If I decide I want to do custom icons later, I can get as deep into the xml component as I want.

See, now, I get the whole "pretty" thing with this shell, but I found it to be just too confusing because it has a lot of redundancies. On the other hand, TouchFlo by HTC is really powerful, but it needs more "clues" to find all of its functionality. Idunno..I just wish we could get this thing hspl unlocked so that the gurus can start cooking up some new roms..
TF3D does not work for me. I need to quickly check email and delete tehm on the fly and access many parts of the phone. Why cant we load the new Sense UIon the Imagio. MS 3.5 is great but the contacts and dialer are badly broken. I cant search for contacts easily by typing parts of the name (only searches file as field) and from the dialer screen you cannot get into the details of a contact to E.G. select an alternate number to dial.
I have been trying both on my new imagio, and am currently sticking with SPBMS3.5. The main reason is that for some reason, the text messaging interface with TF3D messes up my ability to rotate to landscape when replying to a message. I am not sure why...
I have hard reset, and it works for a short period of time, because it seems to be using the standard Winmo texting interface. After receiving a message from a contact, the interface seems to switch to a custom TF3D version, and I can no longer use the landscape keyboard.
Plus I like that I can have virtually all the things I need on a sweetly configured main screen at one tap.
My two cents...

The folks over at PPCGeeks have unlocked the Imagio! And there are a number of ROMs already ready for flashing. As for TF3D and Mobile Shell, I have found no issues with TF, and with the new Cookies home tabs, its even easier for me. I tried that mobile shell, and there were too many reduntant applications, and by the time I got what I wanted set up, it was several pages between what I really needed and what I needed to go through. That, and after a couple days, my phone started to really get buggy. I finally gave up and went back to TF.
Now, that was before flashing to an Energy ROM. Things are much better now! Check out PPCGeeks HTC Imagio section, several ROMS there waiting for you!
You know I just saw those this weekend and they look very promising! Especially the MaxManilla on the horizon. I am not sure whether to go with Manilla or Cookies...Any thoughts?
As for the TF3D and texting, I did some googling and found the fix. Sorry, but I can't remember, but I think it was on PPCGeeks. Had to add some manilla reg values and change one other and voila! It works now. Still not sure if I like TF3D better than SPB, but I am giving it a shot. What I do like is that SPB can have multiple weather cities. I don't think that I like the 3D mail reader on either app.
Thanks again for the tips.

Replacing the original Contacts and SMS interface

I just got a second hand Touch Pro and flashed an official 6.1 ROM obtained from htc.com on it. I managed to change a lot of the disgusting interfaces, but I couldn't find a solution for SMS and Contacts.
I was wondering, are there ways to somehow change the interface of those without flashing my ROM? I know apps like Easy Contact and stuff, but they don't seem to be fully replaceable (as in, Easy Contact will show up in the "Contacts" button in TF3D instead of the original Windows Contacts)
I know I'm asking for a question that I'm pretty sure everybody would ask. I swear though, I searched for the whole day but I could sadly find nothing related, so... help me out a little bit here?
Thanks in advanced!

Are there any Contact skins?

backup + cooked rom

hi guys, I have 2 questions:
1) I'm thinking of upgrading to wm 6.5. I didn't install them till now cause didn't like their look, but after seeing Cookie's Home Tab, i'm all out for them .
My question though is how i backup the Contacts' photos. I have already the contacts in Outlook, and the photos appear fine along with the rest contact info. Is this enough? I mean after the “format”, I will connect the td2 to the pc, syncronise and all the contacts will be loaded (with their photos) back in the phone?
2) I also thought of installing Leo's cooked rom NRG, since i see very good comments about it and appears to be the most popular. It's also compatible with Cookie's Home Tab.
I don't mind English Windows, but will i be able to write Greek in sms and rest applications? How can i enable a Greek keyboard like HTC's default (that comes with official greek roms)?
Thanks in advance
1. yes, contacts should be fine (u can also use PPCPIM backup)
2. just search or ask in NRG's thread.
