android notification bar on hero - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

I think the white stock notification bar on the g1, droid, and my touch look better than the plain black one on the hero. Is their anyway to download something to change it.

mhm look in this section lol anything with [theme] in the name
this is if you have the custum recovery image which is another topic on its own
and when grabbing a theme make sure its for your rom!

Metamorph on rooted stock rom

Without loading a custom rom can someone point me to a metamorph theme for a dark or translucent notification bar? I took a look at the forums but they all seem to need custom roms.
I want to use this method to get a rooted phone just for the purpose of changing the notification bar so I avoid burning the screen in any more.
Burn in?
The framework needs to be de-odex'ed before themes can happen. Which means custom rom.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for when that happens.
If you look at the the area where notification bar is when it's hidden or when you're in a dark fullscreen app you can still see it ghosted on the screen since it's constantly bright white. Quite annoying. I've already got some - hoping to avoid more.
Don't have anything like that on mine...
Many of us have the burn in, me too. Black bar eliminates it.
You should look into modaco ROMs. Modaco ROMs are designed to be close as possible to stock ROM, with the ability to theme and customize them if you wish. Just install r20 modaco and metamorph the bar you want.
A tip is search the forum for black matte theme. That's what I use to combat my screen burn in. It's an amazing looking theme, you won't be disappointed.
since you rooted the phone, you could install the custom RA recovery and then flash a stock rooted Froyo ROM which has been deodexed and then you can go on from there

date in status bar not showing/change caption on lockscreen?

I updated to Cyanogen 6 RC2 and noticed my task bar reverted back to white. I tried to use my morph to use the desire taskbar but it didnt work (due to metamorph not working for some reason). I then ran a diff black bar which did work with the updated version of metamorph and noticed the date in the taskbar was no longer present.
Is this due to the morph or is this due to cyanogen 6? can someone tell me? Also, is there a way to get it back?
Also i believe i was able to change my lockscreen caption with cyanogen 6 RC1 but i cant seem to find the option in RC2. did some searching and i see some .apk that need to be custom built in order to change it....is this true? or am i some how overlooking the option with cyanogen 6 RC2?
anyone have any light to shed?
Maybe I am missing something
You have changed settings->CyanogenMod settings->User interface settings so that nothing is showing up black right? I had the problem when I first morphed to the black desire bar. And you have to reboot the phone for the changes to take effect. I hope it's that simple.

thanks for the tip, but i did check that and thats not the problem...ive even gone as far as making everysingle color something non black so that way i can see which color represented what portion of the task bar. I think what happened was i flash a diff bar than the desire bar first but used the updated version of metamorph which doesnt work...i think that bar f'd with it to be honest.

a cyan theme for CM6 RC1?

I want a theme that's black/cyan for my aria. It's running RC1 [from the RC1 thread], and I've already changed all the text colors to a cyan that matches the original cyano mod power strip/bar. but there are plenty other colors floating around (lockscreen, incoming call, battery icon, etc).
I'm a noob at fiddling around with actual the actual files (apks, jars), and I'm scared of installing a theme that's not meant for this rom (will it even boot? i got stuck in boot loop when i tried a cm6 theme >.<). I like a clean look like the glass themes (can't post links.. urg) but in cyan (and able to run on this rom/phone). Metamorph won't run on this phone. Is there a way to flash a MM theme without it (guess not?)?
..is there a black/cyan theme floating around that'll work for the aria rc1?
Im not sure if its exactly what you're looking for but if you search "CyanogenMod ADW Theme" in the market place there is a theme that sounds like what you're looking for. And its meant to work with ADW which is the launcher that comes preinstalled with CM6.
lol I remember seeing that one, but it looks like someone puked cyan all over the screen >_<
Also, I'm looking for more of a simple rom theme, and not so much actually changing icons/buttons.
In fact, if anyone can teach me how to change colors (lock screen, battery icon--so it's cyan and not green, incoming/ongoing call screen, other notification bar icons--alarm/wifi/mobile network/signal strength/etc, menu/setting font colors, icon highlight color, etc) manually, I'd be just as happy to go through the labor myself (..i think). A point to a tutorial would help too
EDIT: nevermind. I found some tutorials and stuff in the theme forums. I'll just read up there and figure it out.

[THEME] Kalagas Mixed theme for CM 6.1.2

All credit goes to Kalagas.
I only ported some of icons from original Milestone theme and mixed some of sense icon. Enjoy!
To get screen like shown in first picture, check the following menu option:
Settings->CyanogenMod settings->Input Settings->Phone and Messaging
Get modded LauncherPro from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=889036
Changes:
1. Browser tweaked for more icons.
2. Added some more tweaked apps.
3. Battery icon changed to BlueBattery.
Guys, can I have some feedback?
Your pictures really don't do it justice.
I thought it looked pretty awful from the pics but actually looks pretty good in the flesh. I like all blue icons, not a huge fan of the data icon though. I really like the menu themeing, xda app looks much better and the color icons when you push menu in homescreen are a good touch.
Why didn't you theme the new market blue? I don't like the buttons on the dialer either, doesn't look right with numbers but no buttons. Browser looks really smart I'm blue. Circular battery mod would have been good too

Find blue market (not modded by me) in first post. For phone I will post link in a day or two.
How do I apply this theme? I tried using metamorph to do it and it didnt work? Do i just place it on the sd card and flash it like a normal rom? Im really confused and i cant find any help anywhere. The theme looks sick, but i cant figure it out...

Yes, you need to flash it like a normal ROM. By looking at screen shots (I am lazy to post several screen shots) it may look sick but believe me it is fantastic from inside.

Help creating a pure white theme

My idea is to create a high contrast white theme, with pure white notification bar and pure white menu popup, and all pure black icons. (i got inspired by HerrKuk's screenshot)
The reason for this is that we're on an lcd device (and black doesn't get black).
When being on the amoled nexus one, there was a strong urge to get everything as black as possible, where as on the O2x, white would be the most battery friendly..
Stock android 2.2 is leaning towards that, but i just do not like the greyishness of stock.
Try SiMi clock with black text and white background and you'll get an idea of the final look that I'm after..
But, the framework needs black text on notification bar to get this theme on stock or paul's rom. I do not know how to do that.
I guess from vanilla rom it would be a walk in the park because it would only need the gray png's tweaked to white, but the handy power widget control for the notification area is not in vanilla android, and I cannot live without it.
Can anybody help me out by either porting power control to vanilla rom, or by changing the framework text on paul's rom to black?
That would be awesome

lol, 18 months ago we were working out how to change the text to white to use with black notification bars on stock Android...
It can be done, you need to make changes in framework-res.apk xml and services.jar code.
Know how to use apktool (here and here) and smali/baksmali (here)? That's where you need to start.
Once you've got that I can show you where... you'll need these skills if you want to do deep theming anyway.
Sounds great!

Cheers mate, I'll look into it and see if I can get my head around it..
I would like those skills, I just need the time to learn them..
Since I'm impatient I will do up an simple version based off the vanilla rom to start with, and then see if I can do the xml and jar edits for the black bar later
