QWERTY Keyboard Problem - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Is there a registry edit that can remap the keys?

Sounds like you have the wrong keyboard layout (perhaps running a regular Kaiser ROM on an AT&T tilt). Search for "tilt keyboard fix" and you should find a cab file to install and fix the mey mapping.

Alright I appreciate it, how about this one..

Fn - Space. Help needed!!

I have been looking in the forum for a solution for the Tilt keyboard. Everytime I ask, someone usually responds pointing me to the Tilt Keyboard Fix cab, that was posted by Taurus Bulba. Installing the cab results in the keyboard being mapped with the ATT layout (enables the CWS layout in the registry). This makes every fn key work as it should, but it kills the Fn+Space combination.
When you key Fn and Space after a character, the characters changes as per what is defined in sym049.txt (or whatever symxxx.txt file you have in the windows directory, depending on your language).
For example, if you type an "a", press Fn and Space, you get an á, then à, and â, etc. Same with other characters. This is important for those that write in foreign languages that require accents or special characters like ñ, ç, € (Euro currency sign), "£" (British pound sign), and any other letter with an accent.
I think the issue is with the CWS layout (CWS being Cingular/ATT). That layout doesn't have the Fn+Space in it; the Hermes keyboard had a blue "á" and "ü" written on the top left corner of the Space bar, indicating that Fn and Space will result in accentuated characters. The Tilt doesn't have those and in fact, when you install an original ATT Rom (no need for keyboard fix there), the Fn+Space combination doesn't work.
The only way I've seen to get Fn-Space back to life is NOT to use the CWS layout. Using any non ATT Rom will allow you to get Fn-Space working, but at the cost of getting many of the other Fn keys mapped wrong: for example, the "!" and the "@" are swapped, the ";" gives you a "%", and so on.
Sounds like the solution would be a keyboard layout that is 99% like the CWS layout, but that adds the Fn-Space combination.
Any suggestions?

Fixing "Fn Space" feature
This kills the word suggestion feature, but enables you to use the FN-Space function again:
SOLVED!!! - HTC WM6.1 ROM : Missing "Fn Space" function?
EDIT: Sorry, didn't see you responding there aswell

Remapping Right Soft Key in Touch-IT v3.01

I have tried searching for a long time on this because I know I've seen it before, but I can't find it anywhere.
Where is the mapping of the right soft key in the registry? I'm using itje's Touch-IT v3.01 and can't find it anywhere. I don't want the right soft key to be the "Today" screen, but any changes in settings do not "stick."
Hi
Use Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3
Remap softkeys
Dinesh
ADC doesn't change the TF3d right key very well..
It's better to change the registry keys.
Use a decent regeditor (I use fdc taskmanager)
go to HLKM/software/htc/manila
the right and left softkeys are there.
You need to put the complete path to whatever file you want to access and enclose it in ""

Ok, so I got there, but I really don't want to map it to a path. I just want it to function like the left soft key, but on the right. I looked at the values of the LSKpath, but it is blank too.
If I changed the registry value to "<Right Softkey>" like it is called in settings-buttons-left key, would it still work? I'm a rookie with the registry although I am trying.
And I have the fdc task manager now.
try this little app, works perfect
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505
Yeah, that tweak app lets me assign something else, but I want the right soft key to be context with what I'm running on the screen.
... but still good work! I love your ROM.
do you mean the right Hardware key then?
Yes. Sorry for any confusion... I am talking about the hardware key.
In that case again there's a reg key that you can change,
but have you tried it in the button settings control app? as I've just tried it and it works here using Itje's rom.
<Right Softkey> is one of the options and it sets it fine. Not tested to see if it sticks after soft reset but it works.
anyway reg key is HKLM/software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys/40C3
using the buttons settings control panel changes
Flags to 14 (decimal)
Default (blank as in nothing there)

Fuze - Fn+SPACE doesn't bring up symbols menu :\

i have a at&t fuze and on my stock rom and many other pressing Fn+Space would bring up the symbol menu.
however i am running Da_Gs latest 6.5 and Fn+Space does nothing.
any help?
hopefully a cab or regedit rather than reflashing
can anyone help? this is a problem as i use symbols heavily
try these cabs from shlomki http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474192
no, the problem is not my keyboard layout- the problem is the symbols menu just isn't on my phone. all other Fn commands work fine
did you disable xt9 to bring back the old word suggestion?
I've been searching all over the place with no satisfying result
i didn't cook in HTC eZ input keyboards, because i don't want them.
if i do cook them in however i get the symbols- it seems the symbols are a part of the HTC keyboards :\
i've been trying forever to find a way to get the symbols without the htc keyboards, can't seem to find answers
Can anyone tell me how to do this on the Sprint stock ROM? I've been trying to find the answer to this question as well, it "says" on the keyboard in yellow that SYM is the key to the left of the space bar but NO keyboard combination I've pressed invokes the symbols menu.
anyone help.

I've once lost symbols keypad when I've changed registry entry
"HKLM\System\currentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409\Ime File"
from "\windows\eT9ime.dll" to "\windows\compime.dll".
So you might try just to cook "eT9ime.dll" and verify that above entry
points this file, instead of cooking whole EzInput...
This worked for me : Edit the following registry key: HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CWSLayout - change the value from 1 to 0 and softreset.

yeah if you read earlier posts, the keyboard layout is not the problem
you only need to install the xt9 portion of the htc keyboards. the symbols menu is pulled from the xt9.
Just for the records

Need help in keyboard mapping!

Hi Guys,
i flashed NRGz EnergyROM on my Rhodium and got the wwe keyboard layout.
After remapping the software keyboard (worked just fine), i tried to remap my hardware keybord, to the german T-mo standard. But it just doesnt work
Since i tried it via the Rhodium Wiki and several threads here in the forum,
i'm now asking for help, but most of my hw keys won't work
For example the FN key or the ctrl key. But the most annoying thing is, that caps won't work anymore
Can anyone help me to remap those keys plz
Change Registry value
You can use PHM RegEdit program to change the value of the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD /CuRLang to the value corresponding to your language (409 in Hexadicimal for English, 407 for german)
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546131
IT WORKED NOW!!! Thx a lot
But my ctrl and FN key are still mixed up. How can i change this?
