EDIT: It's here!
http://shop.htcpedia.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=819
It appears to be OEM, and is gonna be much cheaper than the crap out now.
My main issue, what cases are gonna fit around this nicely?
I don't want it to be a fatso.. Then theres also the issue of heat, considering the larger battery and a case on top.
Thoughts?
I see at the bottom of the page they are suggesting to buy the brackettron car mount.
Does that mean the official car dock won't fit with this higher back and battery?
I really want the bigger battery, seems i'll have to get a new dock too.
Correct, the phone will be too big to fit the official car dock with a extended battery on it.
What I recommend is buying the battery and holding off on the car dock. Is the battery gonna make THAT much of a difference? Really?
It comes out on July the 6th... your post says June... just fyi
They better make a rubberized case for that thing.
Thanks for the info, but think I'll wait for the Seidio 3500mAh
Changed the month, my mistake.

After reading the thorough comparisons of OEM and aftermarket batteries in the N1 forum (by user dougie i believe?)
I thought it would be a better idea to wait for an HTC extended battery.
Save money, and guaranteed quality.
I haven't tried seidio products so I can't say they are bad, but i'd trust HTC over them anyday.

I've used their cases and extended cap batts on BlackBerries and, now, on my DINC. Probably had 6 extended caps on BlackBerrys, and their holsters are the only ones I'll use - nothing but the best quality and design.
As for the extended cap batts, they perform the way I'd expect them to. I've had not difficulties with them, nor have I experienced anything that would keep me from continuing to buy their product in the future. The only "downside" is that yes, they tend to be on the pricier side but, again, worth it. Just my opinion and experience though.
i oredered the verizon 2150 battery wounder if anyone will make cases for this monster of a battery. currently i have body glove case would like another that will work with this battery
Now you tell me about the new 3500 Mah battery.
Just got the 2150 mah from Verizon. Not able to make it through a day. So yes, I am a heavy user. I have the shut down apps. done and the check for 7 different email set to much longer intervals. Video is where the draw back begins. I am going to try and return the 2150 battery. I don't mind opting for the bigger battery if it gets me through the day.

I already have this battery it 4 days now just a little bulky on the back but its easily lasting me 2 days. Last charge was @ 7:30am on the 17th its now 11:05am on the 18th and i have 54% battery still and i noticed while i was sleeping that wifi was left on

Like with any battery, you need to condition it first. It needs to go through 3 or so full battery cycles (completely charged to completely dead) to get to its full potential. If you did not do this, then you are not getting accurate results. I received this battery Monday, and its just now getting to its full potential. I've gone 2 full days without charging on normal use and one time I just laid it all out turning bluetooth on, GPS, leaving wifi tether on (even though I wasn't always using it), had all my accounts syncing every hour, and left an irc chat open in the background and still got well over a day of use.
Lithium ion batteries don't need to be cycled this will do nothing for battery life. Nickle cadmium on the other hand does need cycling.

Dozens of members and thread posts would disagree. And mine has increased every cycle since I've got it.
I don't know about conditioning.
My first charge I got over 28 hours out of it till 14% warning came on. Then 5 more hours till it came down to 10% battery left.
GPS, WiFi always on. and over 5 hours of talk time with that first charge. Something's wrong with your situation. Check all apps.
PS. I have Task Killer, but it ONLY runs when I tell it to kill apps manually. And I manually select the app to kill each time. (easier than going into settings>applications>yada yada). ATK does not run on its own on my phone.
---
2nd charge on my battery.
GPS, WiFi always on
Bluetooth Off
About 1.5 hours of total talk time today.
13:01 uptime
2:49 awake time
Voice Calls 27%
Cell Standby 21%
Phone Idle 19%
Wi-Fi 13%
Android System 12%
Dialer 4%
Display 4%
67% battery left
I'm on track to gettig another 28 hours of phone being "on" till next charge, if not more.
Well just ordered one since my 1750 is not holding up like when I first got it...
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Ordered the 3500 Mah today and found out that Verizon will take the 2150 back as long as it is within the 30 days. I am trying the cycling and what I see happening is that the longer I own the phone the less I am looking at every item and spending time looking for Apps. This in turn means the screen is on less time and so the battery life is becoming longer.
I am pretty impressed with the 2150. After 36 hours .. comprised of slightly above moderate usage during the day time.. I got about 21% left. GPS and Bluetooth were always left on.. used navigation for about 30 mins a day.

Mkk members may disagree but it is hard to disagree with facts which in this case full discharge and recharge is considered a placebo effect. Due to the fact that "lithium-ion is memory-free in terms of performance deterioration but many batteries have fuel gauges." Aka "digital memory" what this does is reports to your phone how much estimated charge you have left.

if you do find anything contradictory to this i would be interested in reading so shoot me a pm.
Thanks!!
added bulk doesnt bother me.......
but if i can find a nice oem 1500 or 1800mah battery id like comparisons as well
plus the 3500mah on ebay
I had the Acase 3500mah battery, and it was awful. I got much better life out of the stock 1300 that came with the dinc. I have a couple of the OEM 1800mah coming early this week. I'll post back with my impressions.
where did you order them
I have the 2150..1800 from chichitec on eBay and of course..the stock. The 1800 is nice but I can't go a whole day (I am somewhat of a heavy user). The 2150 is my everyday battery...I can easily go nearly 2 days and I like the added bulk! As for the stock battery...I don't even know where it is. Running Athena withstock kernal

IMO, don't buy no-name batteries, nothing good comes out of them 90% of the time. I would say get the OEM extended or a Seidio.

That's where I got my 1x1800 from.
Gives me SUPER battery life now.
It's like sex compared to stock.
bulk is one thing but actually looking ugly is another. I bought it about 5 months ago, used it for a few hours, and it sits in my closet in the exact same place i left it. Its just not a good design. I recommend the 1800mah INC/Evo battery, its $19.99. Im using this and Lou's #8 or #9 and am getting the best batt life ever.
Got my 1800's. Charging one in the wall charger that came with it, to make sure it gets a full charge. Then, I'll throw it in my dinc, clear the batt stats and condition it throughout the week. I'll have a final verdict by the weekend, I hope.
I just sold my Incredible but OEMs are always the best. I can send you mine $30 shipped. OEM 2150 from Verizon.
I use an 1800 and it increased my battery about 40% I'd say, which is what I was expecting. I can't really complain about it

I have the 2150 OEM battery and it's really great. I also like the extra bulk, and with a red hard rubber case from this place:
http://htcpedia.com/news/case-cover-htc-droid-incredible-extended-batteryc.html
It looks really nice with the case, I can hold it easier, still slides right into my pocket and have absolutely no complaints about the upgrade.
With the case I find myself not accidentally touching the volume buttons on the side also.
So far my best battery life has been 86 hours with this battery, but since then I've upgraded my ROM and Kernel, so I'm in the process of doing a another test without a charge until it dies.
So far: 2days, 19hours with 49% left - so things are looking good
3 days of idle time. That's not really a good judge of battery life.

not entirely. 3G, GPS and location are all on. I've spent a good 45 minutes texting, 30 for calls, 10 minutes playing angry birds and 15 on nav.
Not normal usage but I'm wanting to see how long it can go with light use.
Normal use I'll end the day with a good 50-60% left depending how long I run the GPS on My Tracks and Pandora streaming.
With screen off it's somewhere around 1-2 hours per %.
Battery life depends heavily on use. I get just about 24 hrs +/- on my 2150 on a normal day. The more I use the less it lasts. The less I use the longer it goes. That's whyI say its hard to judge battery life. So when I see you're getting 2+ days, I automatically think idle time. Same with my 1500. I can easily pull off 24 hrs with limited use and 2 nights of sleep in the equation.

That's true. Services like 3G, GPS as well as ROM type and especially Kernel type impact battery life pretty hard too as I'm sure you know.
It's hard to judge life off of other peoples estimates, I always take other peoples estimate on battery life lightly because of all the variables included, not to mention they could have left out a few major details that impacted the life of the charge.
I'm just putting my results out there though, it's nice to know if I get stuck somewhere without a charger that my phone will be able to last that long if I can remind myself not to constantly use it to stream music or watch videos lol

Yeah it does. I always keep WiFi on (whether it's connected or not) GPS, and location settings. Data sync I toggle manually because that can shorten your battery even more.
Kernel settings are the most important. I have my phone set to 128MHz when the screen is off and a min of 245MHz when it's on (Smartass settings).
Anyone heard anything about these batteries? They are only about $24 dollars shipped from Amazon. Are they worth it? Here is the link to Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Naztech-11650-Extended-Battery-Samsung/dp/B005A2RLWS.
Thanks for all the help.
Edit: I decided to take the leap and purchase it. If anyone wants to know how it runs, let me know and I will put a review out there.
I was actually thinking of getting one of these.
Saw a simillar one on eBay last night. Is it any good. I mean in comparison with the stock one. How is the performance overall?

I picked up a very simliar one (likely the same item?) from a US seller on eBay this week. The battery life has been GREAT on this thing so far!
The cover is not too bad at all. For reference, I compared it to my old Treo 650 I had laying around, and the Nexus is still SLIGHTLY thinner than the Treo. The extra bulge actually makes the phone MUCH easier to hold.
I debated the Seidio and really expected to regret not going there, but I'm totally satisfied with this one and the extra 40 bucks in my pocket.
I bought two of them. A+ batteries...I use Pandora about 10 hours a day, every day and when I go to bed (17 hours unplugged) the phone still has about
40 % left

I just bought it too off Amazon, it's going to get here tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how it is and what I think of it...hopefully it's great, I can really use it. Stock battery just doesn't cut it, battery life is terrible. I just take a spare battery with me to school everyday, I also have a battery charger that plugs into a wall outlet so that helps.

Naztech 3000 mAh Review
I apologize for the delay in getting this review posted, but I wanted to make sure that I had fully tested this battery. I have attached my most recent screenshots for this battery. I have had this unplugged for a little over 24 hours and as you can see it still has 66% battery life. This is an awesome extended battery. I have used this for streaming music, tracking my runs, a couple hours of calls, and playing some Madden 12. On average, I am having to plug it in after about 36-40 hours with heavy usage. When I say heavy usage, that means 2 hours of GPS use, 2-3 hours of streaming, 3-4 hours of gaming , and background sync turned on. This is per day usage, so you can double those numbers. The most recent test is just after some moderate usage. Overnight from 12pm to 7am, it only dropped 2%. I am quite impressed by this battery and I, like many others, find that the bulk it adds is better for holding on to the phone. If you have any other questions regarding this battery, let me know. I can run it through any tests that you would like.
Thanks.

What battery program is that?
It seems good..
I agree, this battery is awesome, it really does work even with heavy usage. Had to calibrate it though, took me like 3 cycles of letting it die and then fully charging. I unplugged my phone today at 8:51 AM and my battery is at 55% right now, was chatting a ton via messaging and AIM on my phone during the NFL and MLB games, browsing some boards on it during them, checking scores using the browser, and I've had AIM running all day. I was at work from 9 to 1 and I had AIM running the whole time then too which I've noticed on all my previous phones(N1 and MT4G) is a HUGE battery hog, probably the biggest I've encountered aside from playing games, and even the battery usage in the OS shows AIM at 70%. I was chatting using messaging and AIM while I was at work, not much but a good amount. Oh and I was on mobile data all day long(T-Mo), never used Wi-Fi even when I was in my house.
This battery is pretty awesome but I feel like it could be even better but I think it'll MORE than do because the amount of time/usage I spent on it today probably will exceed my longest day of school so I'm guaranteed to get home from school with probably at least 30% so I'm happy. On the old battery it was near dying when I was about to get home or near the way home, and I commute an hour and 20 mins every day to school in the city so that's why it matters so much to me...and I have an hour break sometimes in school so it matters then too. I mean I read on my breaks(my textbooks) but you need your phone to keep entertained and stay sane lol, can't read nonstop forever.
This battery is more than good for me, I feel like it'll last a whole day and usually you're never away from a charger in the course of a whole day so it shouldn't be a problem for any of us. If you are you must like in the middle of nowhere lol.
And about the grip and holding with the bulky battery cover, I agree that it makes the phone a lot easier to hold actually. They made the battery cover perfect with it's hump and all. The hump fits perfectly into your bottom 3 fingers with your thumb on the phone and your index finger goes right above the hump near the camera. The holding position is FANTASTIC and SO NATURAL and AWESOME, it's sweet. Feels like you can't even drop your phone cause of that and makes it super easy and nice to hold, feels great and comfortable holding it. It's so natural, A LOT better than the stock OEM battery cover which I would never use the phone with without a friggin case, it's a slipping nightmare without a case in that situation.
Overall, total frickin steal for only $30 after shipping. And it's on Amazon, it can't get any better! I'll post some more tests/runthroughs and trials on my school days too to get a better idea of it.

Oh and I'm running Peter Alfonso or GPA 17 for the Nexus S. Didn't flash any other kernels though like Netarchy or Trinity, just using his ROM with whatever kernel it came with. Wonder if it would be different with Trinity as in better...it's probably too late to flash the kernel anyway right, I flashed GPA 17 like a week ago and have been using the phone, would the kernel interfere with the ROM or mess it up in any way after already putting a good amount of data in the phone? Or is it safe to flash a new kernel whenever and not necessary only when you've just flashed a clean new ROM?

You can flash a kernel at anytime and not loose anything. Just make sure you clear dalvik after the flash and you're all good. Just for good measure, I usually clear system cache along with dalvik, but you probably don't need to. Once you clear the dalvik, first boot will take a minute or so, so don't freak out. After that, it's back to the speedy boot GPA17 is known for.
What is dalvik cache anyway?

If you have a Revolution you must get the 2900 mAh Lithium Battery.
I am a moderate low user running GingerVolt V1.2. I unplug my phone at 6AM and go to work. I talk for about an 1hr/day, surf the net, email, game for 1hr/day. I pass a 4G area on the way to work but for the most part I am strictly 3G with LTE on. I used to get 9-10 HRs before my phone would die.
I bought my 2900 mAh battery from the verizon store. My phone has been unplugged for 1 Day 15 Hrs with 25% battery left!!! I could go 2 Days but that would be pushing it.
The extended battery is bulky and does make the phone a bit heavier but I think I have a better grip of it now. The protrusion seems to be a good finger wedge. Furthermore, I really didn't feel a difference while my phone was in my pocket.
Overall I fell in love with my phone again. I can be free of the power cord longer than you.

Downside is that my case doesn't fit anymore. But, the battery makes the phone fit the holster without the case. Sure do miss the protection the case would give though... One drop that breaks the phone would make me regret having the battery instead of the case...

Agreed.. It fits in the holster but does not fit well and has a tendency to fall out. I saw at a VZW store that they had the same holster/case I use (with the kickstand) for the Bionic, and it says it fit with extended battery. Dang it. I want that for our Revo!!

I got the same discount in a VZW corporate store when it rang up. Despite the size and weight, it's nice not worrying about power all day.

I've had the extended battery 3 days longer than I've had the phone. I used to keep it and a standard battery fully charged but the extended worked so well I put the standard away. When I have strong a strong signal I can use the internet for hours and see only a minimal decrease. Its well worth the money.

I have the extended life battery from Verizon. Says 3000mAh and I can proudly say that with moderate/heavy use, I get about 12-14 hours. Less that moderate/light use and I get about 25-27 hours.
for those still wanting this battery, I got one from Verizon at Half off due to a promotion. Apparently all batteries for 4G devices are 50% of until the end of march.
I got the extended battery and I'm getting about 7-8 hr of use.. but I'm using very heavy use. Like wifi tether. Texting all day. YouTube. Internet. Extended battery is awesome

You won't be disappointed!
I got this about a week ago and I absolutely love it, but has anyone noticed it takes like 6-7 hours to recharge from dead. It seems extraordinarily long.
Also it charges really slow, before you could see it charge 20% in like 45-60 minutes, now it does like 7% in an hour.
Still totally worth it as long as you have a plug in each night, you'll never go dead.
I also have the extended battery. Despite popular opinion I like the shape of it better! It actually fits in my hand now lol.
Anyway so far my battery lifetime hasn't seen a significant improvement, (went to sleep last night with it at 62% and this morning it was dead and didn't wake me up)!
It's only been a few days though maybe it will improve with time...
Edit: Mine also takes FOREVER to charge up... Once it got stuck at 75% and would charge no further, but unplugging and re-plugging it made it charge the rest of the way.

I turn off data and wifi and that seems to take care of it.

Mine takes a while to charge too, if I charge it from about 5-10%, 5 hours still won't charge it to 100%

I agree, airplane mode and make sure the screen is off(I have mine on at all times when plugged in, mainly for work), and it'll charge much faster, plus your alarm will still work.
Just got the extended battery an it lasted 23hrs.
I've been Supercharged and Gingervolted!
Day 1 With extended battery!!!
Hey just got my battery yesterday and am going to see how well it holds up I am a heavy user. Stock I only got about 3hrs out of original battery! Lets see how it goes!!
(cross posted to Nexus 5 subreddit)
So I've had my N5 since it was first available (ordered it the first day it was on Google Play). Over the last 6 months or so, I've had absolutely atrocious battery life, which I attributed to the upgrade to Android 5. Most recently, the battery life has been so bad that I could be at 98% and after 10 or 15 minutes of playing a game with GPU usage, the phone just shut down. After a reboot, the phone said my battery was at 1%. Then I'd keep the phone off, leave it for 20 or 30 minutes and when I turned it on again, it told me the battery was at 40%. Super strange.
Long story short, I decided that my battery had some real problems. So I took a chance and ordered what looked like an ok battery replacement off of Amazon (link below) as well as some tools from iFixit.com (link below) and decided I was going to try to install a new battery.
Well, it's been about a week since I did the battery replacement (link below to the YouTube video that was helpful) and my phone feels like a brand new device. I get a real, full-day use of the phone now, which for me is having it on and using maps, Gmail, texting, Chrome, Facebook, Play Music, and a few other key apps. Some games here and there. I also obviously have the phone off during the day when I don't need it. Before the battery replacement, my phone could easily be dead with a mix of screen on and off time in 2 hours or less. Now I'm getting 13-14 hours easily. Really amazing.
So I thought this was important enough to share with everyone. If you're in the same boat that I was, you might give this a shot too. Here's everything you need to do what I did:
BATTERY (ships from Chicago, NOT China! this was key!): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LD7S6YQ
iFIXIT TOOLS (if you don't already have these): https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Plastic-Opening-Tools/IF145-000-1
YOUTUBE TUTORIAL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlmKLfgUtBQ
Here's some additional info about my setup that may be helpful: ROM: Cataclysm latest stable build (built off 5.1) KERNEL: Elemental X 2.11. Also using Greenify to hibernate unnecessary background apps
Feel free to ask any other questions. I'm really pleased with how things have gone with this new battery (at least for this first week, which I know is not tons of time). For the moment, it feels like I have a brand new phone!
I was just starting to look for a replacement for my N5. This one doesn't get the greatest of reviews. I've wasted $13.50 on worse though. You still recommend it?

I do! Granted, I've had this for just about a week so it's not the best assessment of long term performance but the difference between the dead stock battery I had and this new one is night and day. I can go all day with this new one. I could barely go an hour with the old one before it shut off. Worth a shot -- and to your point it's only $13.50.
Great thread!
But I think my battery still no dead, can get 3.5 hours of SOT with like near to 2 hours gaming, and it can still standby for at most whole days with such usage
Now in stock 5.1 with elementalX kernel
ONLY fresh year battery to buy
I hope for a long battery manufacturing. Unfortunately, the design of batteries is that they are prone to aging. Even if they are in a store, they begin to lose capacitance over time. It is necessary to carefully examine what year battery you want to buy
Hmm, also considering replacing my battery...
One day my phone was going haywire and I took it apart (easier than I thought) replugged the battery cord and worked fine after that.
Probably anal but right when I unplugged my phone from the charger just now it went from 100% -> 99% instantly.. dun dun dun! lol I've had my phone since December 2013 so yeah you can tell how long I've had my phone for! haha
I ordered one from etradesupply that will arrive tomorrow. I hope it has a fairly recent manufacturing date and isn't some extra stock from 2013. I know I am paying more due to shipping but buying batteries on ebay makes me so nervous about fakes and the quality. At least it looks super easy to swap out.
Coincidentally, I came to the same conclusion yesterday and ordered a new battery. It appears to be something of a minefield and you can pay between £8 and £30 for what seems to be the same battery!
In the end, I went with a mid-price battery from a reputable seller and hopefully all will be well...quite excited for it to arrive
My new battery just arrived today! I'll get it fitted and update with how it is. I've got some screens of battery life at the moment. Hopefully it improves

My etradesupply battery arrived yesterday. It looks exactly like the stock battery and shipped from Texas. Manufacture date is September of 2014... Can't remember the exact date but it for sure september of 2014 which is older than I'd like but we'll see. It was at 47% charge which is about what it should be for storage.
I haven't had a chance to do a full cycle yet. I just charged it to 100% once so far. My screen on time is 2 hours 15 minutes with 34% battery left. I don't do anything special to conserve battery and use automatic brightness set to 50% or whatever stock is. That's a mix of games and browsing.
I am not sure if a new battery has to go through a full cycle to get calibrated or anything like that. I've read laptops should be drained completely once in awhile (not often) to recalibrate something with how the battery life is measured. I feel battery life is better than the battery it replaced so far which is what matters to me. If I can get 3+ hours SOT consistently I'll be happy. I was getting down to around 2 hours SOT on my old battery.
I've been contemplating getting a new battery for a while. I have a launch week device so my battery is sitting around 18 months old. I'm not getting terrible battery life but it's not as good as it was either. My usage patterns have changed since then and I also keep a lot of apps installed and have everything turned on as opposed to when I first had the device I had a script remove most everything from the phone and kept most things turned off. I'd say an average work day I'll see 2-2 1/2 hours screen on time with about 1 1/2-2hours bluetooth music playback. I'm looking for a charger around 6pm when I get home.

i see you're in the US so not sure if I'll be of much help. I ordered off ebay, just checked to make sure there was plenty of feedback for the battery. Just using up the battery of my current one so will change tonight and hopefully update tomorrow!
Good to hear OP! I always look forma back up bstteryied con amsozn
Just my luck. I get the one battery that doesn't charge ? have to wait on a replacement now
Every one knows batteries need to empty and fill a good few times to reach peak holding. I replaced mine with a genuine OEM, from Amazon, and it took a good few days then it made a huge difference longevity. Never buy cheap batteries. They are fake and can't be told from the real thing until you use it AND findout. Go by the reviews and who is selling

Battery Replacement in India
Where can I get the battery in India. My battery too draining like hell..
Can anyone suggest where I can get battery in India.. Online website is fine
I have my old battery replace at the official LG service center here in Manila and all i can say is that my 5's battery life is just like brand new. After a year with the old battery, sot max is just 1.5 hours, after the replacement, 4.5 hours.
