these are micro USB sync cables. So is the Nokia N97 one.
why aren't they compatible? Is micro USB not a standard?
the old mini USB were all compatible with diff brands, devices, etc.
I'm glad you posted this because I had no idea all Micro-USB cables weren't compatible. I was going to go out tomorrow and pick up a couple for the Verizon BB Storm which is also Micro-USB. So these might not work?
Where can I pick up some HD2 Charge/Data cables locally? (I live in Seattle, have every major store.)
I think that cables should be compatable but some of them can be for chareging only.(lack of pins)
I bought this cable on eBay
It has good quality and works as sync cable.
the nokia cable looks like it has all pins in both ends, of course who really knows...
hope more can share their experiences
I have ordered two Nokia CA-101 (CA101) micro usb cables from 2 separate UK eBay shops and I can confirm that this cables allow ActiveSync & WMDC / Flash Storage mode / data thetering with my PC and of course, with the battery charging at all times.
These are good quality cables. They have that rubbery rubber feel as opposed to the PVC feel of standard cables. The newer versions have an integral plastic clip to store your cable neatly.
Best of all, its really cheap. Just eBay CA 101.
2 in 1(mini & micro to usb)
great i was also about to order a 2 in 1(mini & micro to usb) Cable Compatible For Blackberry from
http://www.ipmart.com/main/product/...d=151384&ref=ipmartforum_2in1cable_blackberry
so i will now probally only buy origional from HTC.
Nokia CA-101 do look nice, is it real, for $2?
I'm after some retractables, for travel too.

If you were referring to ebay prices, it is always advisable to check the seller profile and feedback. There are bargains to be had, but there are also cons out there. I can only testify for the UK prices.
now i see a converter from mini usb to micro usb
recon ill get and try as only $2.70au

Well I went to a local department store called Fred Meyer and purchased one of everything listed as Micro USB today. I bought a car charger, a wall charger and a data cable. All of them charged the phone just fine and the data cable also transmitted data just fine. They were $10-$15 each. So it seems that the HD2 does fit under the Generic heading.
And just for the record, the package listed the cables as working for the below;
Blackberry, Kyocera, LG, Motorala, Palm, Samsung and Sanyo.
Notice what's missing? Yet it still works fine on the HD2.
I also confirm that nokia ca-101 work fine. both third party and original.
I got a "compatible" CA-101 from ebay and the finishing is lousy.
Able to charge but cannot sync. Furthermore, I just discovered that charging is much slower than the original cable.
Tested with both wall charger and computer usb port.
Paid ~US$1.7 inclusive of shipping.

I ordered a couple of these cables and can confirm they work with the HD2. Only $3.10 each, free shipping
Nice, do they have a strap that ties the cables together attached? It appears they do, which would be handy when wound up to put them away.

Nice !
I've ordered 3 of them too and 3 miniUSB/microUSB Adapters here : http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Motorola-Mi...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item5d27226e8a
Radio Shack sells standard black 6' gold plated usb-micro charge/sync cables as one of their stock items, GigaWare 26-1416 is Shack #. Called PC > Mac cable.
amazon.co.uk have ca 101 for 1.59 GBP and free shipping.
The cables you ordered are nice. I have one from my Nokia N810 Exactly the same
HD2 Sync Cable
Nokia cable model: CA-101 confirmed working

weird
I bought two genuine nokia cables, and they only work on usb drive mode, won't connect via activesync at all.
EDIT
Update..
I've just tested the ca-101 with my laptop and they are working fine, so there's something odd with my desktop machine at work.
Still don't understand why they nokia cable doesn't work with that one, but the HTC cable does..
Hi folks. The Samsung OEM micro-USB cables fit great. But my LG brand cable and several from monoprice. com do not.
The usb connector itself slips in fine, but the rubber/plastic surround is a totally different shape such that it is too-easy for the cable to pop out.
Anyway, just thought I'd share this. Amazon.com has a vendor of genuine Samsung cables that only cost of few cents more than the generic monoprice ones. I would recommend getting those.
FWIW, my Nokia N97 and N900 charger and USB data cables fit fine w/ my Focus -- I use them daily. I haven't even used the Samsung cables yet.
Michael.
I have found that while the cheap USB cables don't work for sync they do work for charging the phone.
Any brand cable (Samsung, LG, Nokia, etc) will work and they're not that expensive.
Buy cheap ones => what you pay is what you get.
I spent 5 bucks on ebay for 3 mini to micro adapters (since everything I had was mini for my HTC devices) and they work great. They are even 90 degree left and to rear. They took about 2 weeks out of china but no problems yet.

it's because you bought a charging cable and not a sync cable.
I have a lot of HTC and samsung cables, the samsung cable are the same as the nokia, when you connect to the pc and connect up, it detects as nokia, the HTC one's looks the best.
they all fit the focus pretty well.
forgot to mention, i too have about 3-4 pieces of the non branded micro usb cable, they all work well.
I have the data cable from my LG Incite. While it charges the phone, it will not sync with my notebook.
I tried those after market chargers, blackberry and other micro usb chargers and they all seem to be ok. My only gripe was with the cheap after market chargers they eventually fall apart where the tip is lol.
The one I got from Monoprice works great...plug into every night.
Stock micro USB cable is the best :|
Working Charger
I bought a "BlackBerry Folding Blade Micro-USB Charger" from Amazon that I had good luck with. I've been using it to charge my Focus at work for about 1 year now, and it fits well.
I went on a trip to a friends place, 400 miles away, and I seem to have left my charge cable behind when I departed. (Grabbed the wall wart, but forgot the cable. Still kicking myself) Getting it shipped will be a major pain, so I come here asking for some help clearing up what I dont understand after searching.
What types of cable will allow USB interaction between my PC and my phone and which ones will not?
When I use my girl friends charger, which is mini usb but not intended for a smart phone, it charges fine, but if I use that cable between the computer and the phone I cannot get it to interact.
Sorry for being noobish, but I really did search. Just found a lot of conflicting info...
I (also) don't understand why there's a difference in micro-USB cables.
Micro-usb = micro-usb, right??
Don't these have requirements like HDMI cables?
I find any brand name cable works fine. I've had bad luck with the really cheap generic ones. I have successfully used my HP Touchpad cable and a blackberry branded cable. The connections fit fine and data transferred fine.
The reason your mini (micro?) USB charges and doesn't transfer data could be because it it a charge only cable and if you look in the USB-A end (large end) you may find it only has 2 contacts instead of 4.
As far as I know, any micro USB should work. I use cables from Moto, LG, Samsung, HP (touchpad), and generic at home and all work fine. A lot of the generic ones do die, or develop a defect where they charge only from a particular angle.
When I need a new cable, I hit up monoprice.com for some of the highest quality generic USB cables I have ever used, they have good cables for everything, they are cheap too (lots of places like big box stores re-brand the Monoprice cables and charge WAY more)
your favorite auction site is also a good place to look. I check the "used" box when searching for cell phone accessories to find cables and wall worts people no longer need, that usually still work great.
I have a nokia one that works perfectly if you want it. Just pay $3 for shipping to my paypal. Let me know.

Generally speaking any mUsb cable will work with minor exceptions such as the one that comes with the car dock which is charge only. But no need to guess and no need to bid on an auction and no need to pay big bucks at the Verizon store. Just go here:
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-SPN5...7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1330014705&sr=1-7
and for $4.79 and free shipping you get the cable and the power brick and its even a Motorola branded one if you care about that.
I'm using the default Asus wall charger but my cable is breaking and going weird.
Are there any decent and cheap replacements on amazon/whatever available?
The few I've managed to find all have comments on how slow it made their Nexus 7 charge and they didn't recommend it
What should I be looking for to find a cable with decent charging rate?
The OEM HTC micro USB cables have worked great for my Nexus 7. I'm getting ready to order several more from online.
Sent from my DNA... S-Off like a baws
Authentic Logitech and Samsung usb cables work good.
Ditto for stock/OEM micro-usb cables from HTC, the ones that I owned have a sticker/label on the cable and the # DICMUSBT and Model DC1130 - OEM from Motorola from the pre-Android era worked just as good for me, YMMV.
Online vendors on eB*y such as eForcity dot com (NOT an endorsement, but has been buying from them for 10+ years) should net you quality items at a fair & competitive product and usually get them delivered w/ free shipping in 5 to 8 days, coast to coast.
Monoprice 24awg usb cables are the best I have found, when coupled with a quality ac adaper (or car charger).
hello!
As we all know usb type-c cable that we have in our phones is really messed up standard that even if on paper is made to "rule them all", in reality most of companies use their own standards and Quality Check, so we can sometimes end up with cable that dont charge, dont send data or even brick phone(it is possible and really common).
So I have few questions for you all.
1. Do you use only cable that was in box of P9?
2. If no, do you got cheaper cable from china, or you got more expensive ones from branded stores(eg MediaMarkt)?
3. Did you had any problems with cables in P9(normal USB or OTG)?
4. Any visible transfer speed changes over older standard and other cables?
Im asking because even if type-C is almost 3 years old, I still finding out that that standard have really bad design flaws that are really visible when you buy cheaper cables.
P9 is my second device with usb-c, and recently I though that "Chinese market should already learn how to make them" and I bought cheaper cable... that bricked my phone for few minutes... Thanks God is working now without a problem but it just show again that times where cable was just few smaller cables inside plastic wrap is long gone, and now we need to really keep an eye on quality of components THAT ARE INSIDE of cable(+ info of power draw that it can take/send)...
With microUSB I could get even crappiest cable on market for 50cents and it would work perfectly for years, and now Im forced to spend more on such simple thing as cable that can cost even 20EURO for damn 1.5m phone cable....
So what is your thoughts about that standard and quality of cables that you use with your p9?
I use the supplied charger and cable for at home, as may 'main' charger, at work or out and about i use an old usb cable with an adaptor like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/231784587260?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=33676502101&rlsatarget=pla-270397369803&adtype=pla&poi=&googleloc=1006849&device=c&campaignid=707291931&crdt=0
Hi mate. To be honest, both my charger and cable are still boxed, I've been using a 2.0A Samsung charger since I bought this phone. And considering I have dozens of micro USB cables from old Nokia and Samsung phones I simply bought these Type C adapters:
https://www.amazon.it/dp/B01AU5PEZA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.h8yybFFD2XCH
No issue with charging and data transfer. Can't help you with data speed transfer though.
Here's my reply:
Ad1: No. I use my old Nokia cable with USBC adapter, I bought three cables (see at Ad2), everything working...
Ad2: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/201...3-1-USB-C-Type-C-Data-Charge/32676548325.html
Ad3: No, working like a charm...
Ad4: No, the same...
