I'm using the default Asus wall charger but my cable is breaking and going weird.
Are there any decent and cheap replacements on amazon/whatever available?
The few I've managed to find all have comments on how slow it made their Nexus 7 charge and they didn't recommend it
What should I be looking for to find a cable with decent charging rate?
The OEM HTC micro USB cables have worked great for my Nexus 7. I'm getting ready to order several more from online.

Authentic Logitech and Samsung usb cables work good.
Ditto for stock/OEM micro-usb cables from HTC, the ones that I owned have a sticker/label on the cable and the # DICMUSBT and Model DC1130 - OEM from Motorola from the pre-Android era worked just as good for me, YMMV.
Online vendors on eB*y such as eForcity dot com (NOT an endorsement, but has been buying from them for 10+ years) should net you quality items at a fair & competitive product and usually get them delivered w/ free shipping in 5 to 8 days, coast to coast.
Monoprice 24awg usb cables are the best I have found, when coupled with a quality ac adaper (or car charger).

these are micro USB sync cables. So is the Nokia N97 one.
why aren't they compatible? Is micro USB not a standard?
the old mini USB were all compatible with diff brands, devices, etc.
I'm glad you posted this because I had no idea all Micro-USB cables weren't compatible. I was going to go out tomorrow and pick up a couple for the Verizon BB Storm which is also Micro-USB. So these might not work?
Where can I pick up some HD2 Charge/Data cables locally? (I live in Seattle, have every major store.)
I think that cables should be compatable but some of them can be for chareging only.(lack of pins)
I bought this cable on eBay
It has good quality and works as sync cable.
the nokia cable looks like it has all pins in both ends, of course who really knows...
hope more can share their experiences
I have ordered two Nokia CA-101 (CA101) micro usb cables from 2 separate UK eBay shops and I can confirm that this cables allow ActiveSync & WMDC / Flash Storage mode / data thetering with my PC and of course, with the battery charging at all times.
These are good quality cables. They have that rubbery rubber feel as opposed to the PVC feel of standard cables. The newer versions have an integral plastic clip to store your cable neatly.
Best of all, its really cheap. Just eBay CA 101.
2 in 1(mini & micro to usb)
great i was also about to order a 2 in 1(mini & micro to usb) Cable Compatible For Blackberry from
http://www.ipmart.com/main/product/...d=151384&ref=ipmartforum_2in1cable_blackberry
so i will now probally only buy origional from HTC.
Nokia CA-101 do look nice, is it real, for $2?
I'm after some retractables, for travel too.

If you were referring to ebay prices, it is always advisable to check the seller profile and feedback. There are bargains to be had, but there are also cons out there. I can only testify for the UK prices.
now i see a converter from mini usb to micro usb
recon ill get and try as only $2.70au

Well I went to a local department store called Fred Meyer and purchased one of everything listed as Micro USB today. I bought a car charger, a wall charger and a data cable. All of them charged the phone just fine and the data cable also transmitted data just fine. They were $10-$15 each. So it seems that the HD2 does fit under the Generic heading.
And just for the record, the package listed the cables as working for the below;
Blackberry, Kyocera, LG, Motorala, Palm, Samsung and Sanyo.
Notice what's missing? Yet it still works fine on the HD2.
I also confirm that nokia ca-101 work fine. both third party and original.
I got a "compatible" CA-101 from ebay and the finishing is lousy.
Able to charge but cannot sync. Furthermore, I just discovered that charging is much slower than the original cable.
Tested with both wall charger and computer usb port.
Paid ~US$1.7 inclusive of shipping.
Hi folks. The Samsung OEM micro-USB cables fit great. But my LG brand cable and several from monoprice. com do not.
The usb connector itself slips in fine, but the rubber/plastic surround is a totally different shape such that it is too-easy for the cable to pop out.
Anyway, just thought I'd share this. Amazon.com has a vendor of genuine Samsung cables that only cost of few cents more than the generic monoprice ones. I would recommend getting those.
FWIW, my Nokia N97 and N900 charger and USB data cables fit fine w/ my Focus -- I use them daily. I haven't even used the Samsung cables yet.
Michael.
I have found that while the cheap USB cables don't work for sync they do work for charging the phone.
Any brand cable (Samsung, LG, Nokia, etc) will work and they're not that expensive.
Buy cheap ones => what you pay is what you get.
I spent 5 bucks on ebay for 3 mini to micro adapters (since everything I had was mini for my HTC devices) and they work great. They are even 90 degree left and to rear. They took about 2 weeks out of china but no problems yet.

it's because you bought a charging cable and not a sync cable.
I have a lot of HTC and samsung cables, the samsung cable are the same as the nokia, when you connect to the pc and connect up, it detects as nokia, the HTC one's looks the best.
they all fit the focus pretty well.
forgot to mention, i too have about 3-4 pieces of the non branded micro usb cable, they all work well.
I have the data cable from my LG Incite. While it charges the phone, it will not sync with my notebook.
I tried those after market chargers, blackberry and other micro usb chargers and they all seem to be ok. My only gripe was with the cheap after market chargers they eventually fall apart where the tip is lol.
The one I got from Monoprice works great...plug into every night.
Stock micro USB cable is the best :|
Working Charger
I bought a "BlackBerry Folding Blade Micro-USB Charger" from Amazon that I had good luck with. I've been using it to charge my Focus at work for about 1 year now, and it fits well.
Hi all, back from the note2>iphone 5> to note 2 again lol and i got my new one off of craigslist in a trade and the charge block appears to only be a 1.0V output when its supposed to be 2.0 correct? So i dont even know if the cable is OEM, i was wondering if anyone knew a reliable product whether it be OEM or not that will charge my note in a reasonable time as of right now its been charging for over 2 hours and only at 24%
I just saw some OEM Samsung wall chargers for around $10. The OEM charger has an output of 2.0A, most phone chargers are only 1.0A
EDIT: That includes the OEM wall charger and OEM USB cable.

I can recommend a couple of good options:
1. If you definitely prefer OEM, you can get one here, BUT, be sure to order specifically from the seller called AmazingSteals. Alot of other sellers are selling knockoffs. After reading a bunch of reviews on Amazon, I decided to order from AmazingSteals, and got a genuine OEM charger and cable. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009YDFX7Y/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
2. If you don't need OEM, check out this Anker. It's awesome. It has 2.0a and a 1.5a ports for simultaneous charging. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8L36A6/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
I have both. Either will work great.
Mediabridge makes excellent quality cables for cheap. They also have a 6ft cable if you need something longer than OEM. The wires are thick and well insulated and the plug tips are sturdy. Pair it with any decently rated 2amp wall charger on amazon and you should be set.

Hi all.
My original samsung charging cable has given up.
In fact it might have been a dud to start with as my phone took 6 hours ish to charge on a good day.
I am looking for a replacement but I understand that the note 2 uses a special cable and I can't buy a normal data cable.
Please could you recommend a good one that I could buy from the UK? Preferably from Amazon.
Thanks all.
You have a android phone not a crapple
You just need a micro usb cable
Should cost you around $1 on ebay
If you need the charger as well you want one with 2amps of output also very cheap on ebay

So the cable doesn't need to be a special 2 amp cable?
The charge itself is 2 amp and isn't faulty so doesn't need replacing.

There is a difference in the cables supplied by samsung or electronics that need Alot of mah. Get one on amazon that is for electronics that have big batteries. If you have a good charger with bad cable you get the lengthy chargers. Takes too long... Trust me

What about the blackberry cables?
I have a spare one but it doesnt say what it can carry.
The BB cable should be fine. The only way besides an ohm test is to just use it and monitor the charging behavior.

Considering my Kindle cable charges mine just fine, I would say you're golden as long as you buy a well built cable. (Kindle obviously doesn't need a lot of current and seems like it is 20 feet long)

Will test and see how it goes.
Samsung cable charged 17% per hour and the blackberry cable does closer to 40% per hour.
Bonus.
I just got the anker dual port chargers. One for the wall one for the car.
Any recommendations for cables?
I prefer amazon since I'm on prime and I get a lot of gift cards from my cc company.
I got tripp-lite cables which wouldn't charge more than .4... I got 6 cables so it's not just one or two defective ones.
On amazon I don't see a cable with clean reviews.
In fact most cables and chargers that say samsung oem have reviews saying they are counterfeit. One would think amazon.com would guard against that.

Well, Amazon opened a door to any "merchant" so you can list anything you want under existing legitimate product
For cables, use only Monoprice stuff - http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Plated-24AWG-micro-B-Ferrite/dp/B003L18S0E/ - this cable has 24AWG rated wires which handle up to 3A of current and will charge Note 2 at full 2A speed. Plus, they have gold plated connector and ferrite filter bead. 6ft cable for $3.28 shipped - YOU CAN NOT BEAT THAT!!! That what I use at home and in the car for years now.
I also noticed there are some Monoprice with 28AWG only, those can handle max 1.4A so more appropriate for 1A charging. Also, be careful the seller is actually Monoprice because I noticed a bunch of shady vendors listed under that Monoprice cable listing.
Does monoprice ship overseas?

Not from US Amazon, you probably need to go to their www.monoprice.com website or see if Amazon in your country has Monoprice guys listed.
I would recommend the monoprice ferrite micro usb cables too. I bought 3 (6ft cables) and it charges all the gadgets at full speed (note 2, S3, tablets). It works so good people keep on taking mine. I had to buy 6 more. Also if you order from Monoprice directly it comes out to less than $8 for 3 6ft cables.

I've had very poor luck with these Monoprice cables ordered directly from them. They work great, for a short time. I ordered a dozen in both 6 foot and 10 foot length this summer. Since then, every single one has crapped out. They develop shorts or the connectors become weak and won't stay in the phone. It's a real disappointment as they work great initially and are a great price. My OEM cables are still going strong and get the majority of use. The monoprice cables lasted anywhere from 1 to 5 months. None longer. If it had just been one cable, I'd chalk it up to bad luck. But 12 cables is too many.
Note 2 cable repair
Samsung Note 2 charger is of 5 Volt 2 Amp and the data + charging cable is shielded cable, not the ordinary one. It takes lots of time if you charge through other cable or charger. One good thing about this USB cable, it is not soldered, it is crimped. So, you can repair it with little efforts.
There is a video on youtube for the same, As I am new in this community, can't post the link. You can copy the above text and search in google.

Has anyone tried this usb type c to micro usb adapter? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rue&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=AG8AYSVS7E5IO After reading about the usb type c cable that fried a $1500 laptop I'm worried that something might happen. I at least hope that BLU shipped it with a decent usb type c cable.

I bought these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B018MQE2HA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Supposedly meet spec. Haven't had chance to use them yet, my phone arrives tomorrow.
I purchased the techmate usb-c cables when they were on sale a couple days ago.. Were like $6 a piece.
I ordered this one http://www.amazon.com/Cambond-Braid...hromeBook/dp/B0119QMKC4/?tag=androidpolice-20
with coupon code from android police http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...om-6-99-to-8-99-on-amazon-after-coupon-codes/ not sure if the coupons still work.
it's been reviewed by Benson Leung at 5*
I got this 1M/3.3ft one for $6 (which is the everyday price, no code necessary): http://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-TeckNetĀ®-Charging-Chromebook-Supported/dp/B014DPXLEY/
Definitely look for reviews by Benson Leung and buy only those cables he scores highly if you don't want to risk it. The one I linked to also got 5/5 stars. I'm sure there are other cables he has never and will never review that are just fine, but he's reviewed so many USB-C cables and adapters that I can't think of a good reason not to find one that suits your needs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A25GROL6KJV3QG/
Great topic!
Type-C new to me and all my co-workers. We all just bought and LOVE the BLU Vivo XL, and were surprised about the Type-C...
Checked Benson's reviews. The 1st two cables on his site look good. Great prices! $12 and $11 US. Like most great deals on Amazon.com, they will not ship to Canada. Same 2 cables on Amazon.ca cost over $80 Canadian each! NO THANKS!!!
Can anyone recommend a trustworthy Type-C-to-Type-A cable (nicely priced) from Amazon.ca?
Thanks
