Hi all,
I'm finding an app that can use touchscreen to control some features (such as suspend, restart, ... like iHome on iPhone); do you know it?
Thank you
- mQuickDo is a virtual home and power button making use of gestures to easily operate your iPhone or iPod Touch.
- By making use of the (trigger function) of iPhone and iPod Touch, mQuickDo will help you operate iPhone and Touch easily, like exit a program, reboot or power off, switch or quit a task, mute or hang up the incoming call, etc. It will protect "Home"and "Power" button at a high degree, extend the life of your iPhone or Ipod Touch. It's surely worth a shot!

I don't know the apps for the iPhone. But if you want to do some remotejobs on your PC, then try gmote. Else maybe a vnc client would be good. Everything could be found on the market.
oh thank but i don't talk about remote
I just want to control features (such as reboot, suspend) by tapping the touchscreen, not press buttons

Try BetterCut. You can create custom shortcuts ("Make Your Own" option) that launch advanced activities, including rebooting the phone. Creating such shortcuts is not very user-friendly though. You will need advanced familiarity with Android OS. I recommend googling for a guide or how-to for creating the shortcuts you need.
quickboot. reboot, recovery, fastboot all with one touch.

Search Android Market.
oh, how to search it? No result for this query, if you know, please tell me its name
it is called Quick Boot.
search for it.
thank you very much, I install this app, but dont have the full features I need, just reboot
I need: reboot, sleep (screen), back, home only in one touch (gesture), like iHome (free) and mQuickDo (commercial) on iPhone, you can review some features, really it's very good (best) app on iPhone

Hi
Is there a task switcher software that allows to switch tasks by pressing a hardware key. I mean, that allows to map a hardware key so you can for example switch among taks by just pressing let's say the OK key?
I wonder if there is some solution so I don't have to go back all the time to the TODAY screem to the task drop down thing to switch programs, or that I dont have to open the SPB Mobile Shell task thing to do that.
Maybe is there also a task switcher software that could remain an icon on top of every application so it could be accessed quick as another quick solution to switch?
Thanks in advance for any help!
i use this little app for this. as usual, i don't know where i found it, so i'll just attach it here.
extract exe file to your device, create shortcut in start menu and then assign it to some hardware key
Hi antihrist
Thanks a lot for AltTab! I installed it already and its working nicely. It is great and light app. I also got info about VITO TaskSwitcher, wich comes included with VITO Buttonmapper installation. I'm testing it too and it looks good. Also a great sollution, and nice look, though not light as AltTap. So great I can switch now, it's time saving and so much confortable!
Again thanks for your help!
Try also the one attached here....

WkTask is the best task manager hands down... Launcher and other goods make it even better.
If you have Spb Pocket Plus, it also lets you assign a button to open task manager (the Spb TM). Then just tap on the app you want and bring it up. More steps then the AltTab app, but if you like to have many apps open, I find it better then cycling through them all.
I use pBar, lightweight easy to access from task bar and has lots of other useable goodies. And free

I want to know
How do it change function of left "OK" button?
Dynamo needs some developement as it's a bit thirsty but it's already my choice. Can be mapped to any button.
Check this link

Thanks to all!
Faviopac, thanks for the .cab file, I'll try WkTaskL too.
Guys, thanks a lot to all! Seems that I have now material to study and choose from. It's a fact that i did not know about aplications like this, till I felt the need and miss it and asked here. I got this HTC TyTN II since some months ago and was focused in other learnings since then and enjoying it. But was starting to miss this switching stuff, they are most have!
denco7, I'll have a look to pBar, thanks for the link! And, branball, will give a try to Dynamo, thanks! I'm glad I have more than I needed now, just have to choose... For the moment I definitely think that I'll go for the apps that display a list of open tasks where you can choose to bring it up, like the one gwnorth was telling about. I'm testing now, of that kind, TaskSwitcher 2.0 wich I found also as independent app (separated of Vito buttonmapper), it brings up also a list of open taks to choose from. I also will try the ones you posted here, wich I super appreciate.
Question appart: I am using Spb mobile shell, wich I find great and better everyday, what's the difference or adventage (if any) of Spb Pocket Plus vs Mobile shell, they are for similar uses at the end (?) I havent test Pocket plus...yet.
Hi Everyone,
I've been recently thinking a lot about multi touch and where it stands on Android. I know with some roms we're starting to get multi touch browsers although to me this... "apple's way" is pointless.
I'd rather press Zoom in or Zoom out or double tap on a section than use 2 fingers and drag them apart or "pinch". I fail to see how this is making things easier to do infact in my opinion it's making them more complicated.
Anyway, I thought I'd start this topic as a sort of "brainstorm" where we can all pitch in ideas and ways as to how multi touch can help or improve phone functions. Who knows maybe one of the many talented developers on here will adopt an idea and put it to work.
So far I've come up with:
- Multi touch Answer
When someone calls, you're presented with the incoming call screen. It would be a nice feature to be able to answer or reject using multitouch. This idea is incredibly simple, tap the screen with 1 finger to answer a call. Tap the screen with 2 fingers to reject a call. May not be that beneficial to android as it has a call and call reject button however on windows mobile devices it would be a nice addition.

well multitouch actually lets you choose your zoom in and out level. i.e. sometimes i just want to zoom in a little further on the hero rom i am running. or zoom out a little. multitouch is very useful.. letting me choose how i want to see things. in both emails and browser.
and i dont think the calling idea is good. some people may pull out their phones from the pocket or purse and touch the screen and accidently answer a call..or reject.
I saw an article on Engadget that was preceeded by this image:

The center image gives an idea of multitouch controls for an emulator.
Mulitouch on googlemaps would be sooooooo cooooool.
I would like to have multi touch for image browsing/zooming the way the iPhone does. Having it for emulators like the one mentioned above would be sweet too.
I'm not sure if this has been asked before, and if it has please forgive me, but are there any apps that can replicate, or resemble Palm Pres Card style multitasking? Is there a limitation with the Android Platform that means it couldnt work? Jailbroken iphones have this functionality too, and it seems like with the open nature of the Android Platform we should be able to have.
that would need an app that runs other apps "windowed"... i don't think that is gonna happen. opposing the iphone android already has true multitasking out of the box, just get a task manager if you need one.

If programmed to do so the app you close will remain open and working in the background. Then you can re open it and you will be where you were when you closed it.

You could just use the built in multitasking. Hold Down The home button until the little window pops up.

I'll post recent screenshots but at the beginning, the app was like that:
Now it has a lot of customization features.

I am not able to develop the screenshot now, it show only the icon. I strongly believe that i wiill be able to implement the screen capture feature soon...!
Report me any bug/suggestion/remark.
Features:
Launch it with a long press on search button ( camera button will come for devices without search button)
1) See all running app in an endless horizontal scroll
2) icons ( not screenshots) are displayed like palm pre
3) kill an app by dragging it to the top of the screen
4) Drag down an app to ignore it
5) icons ( not screenshots) are displayed like palm pre
6) icon size / space beetween icon fully customizable
7) Graphic png fully customizable
look in the preferences for all features
Thanks for that App, I like it alot. One minor aesthetic thing I wouldn't mind seeing in future versions is kinetic scrolling, although that's really not important. Good luck implementing screenshots, too!

That list just shows the last 6 programmes you have used so you can shortcut to them. It does not necessarily mean they will be running in the background.
Multitasking on the Pre is the best multitasking there is. Hands down. If someone made a "cards" application for android it would sell a ton...
Hi, just thought this was an interesting bug to come across knowing that the Hero doesn't natively support landscape home in Sense or the default android home.
When playing Raging Thunder 2 (Lite in my case), let the phone sleep (press end call), now wake the phone and unlock the screen. The phone is forced into landscape home until you correct it (hold phone portrait). This happens in both sense and the default android home, however Sense forcecloses.

Yep indeed,... tested what you said and you are indeed correct,... I tried this with the full paid version and had the same issue.
It is not an issue if just left idle on the game as the game does not allow the phone to go into into sleep mode,...
FIX: Download and install spare parts (it is free),... This is an excellent app which gives access to settings not available as standard.
Once installed, open app, go to "End button behavior",... select "Home, then sleep". Now if you are ever in an app (not on any one of your homescreens), when you press end, it will first take you home, then you have to press it again to put the phone in sleep mode.
I know its an extra button press but I do like to have it sleep only on the homescreen.
Peace.
Good solution. I have spare parts set to sleep on end button by preference, but I see that would be a good solution. Plus yeah, how many people are going to press end to put phone to sleep whilst playing a game.
And this bug doesn't really bother me, just thought I'd share it.
Adam
Its a good spot,... maybe worth letting the guys at Polarbit know.
I posted a comment on the market. Hopefully they'll spot it.

No worries. It's agenda widget, free from the market. My favourite out of all the ones I've tried.
Thx Adam,
Nice widg. allready downloaded =]
I'm using (i was ) CalWidget (egg'n stones) - also nice looking.
Will compare those two - i thikn they are the best?!
Oh! And SlideScreen [larvalabs] too
After much hesitation I've finally abandoned HC for mad-murdock's tablet-friendly CM7, and it's looking great. Was just wondering if you guys have any suggestions for apps that can further enhance the user experience. Thinking about things along the lines of WaveLauncher and Perfect Task Switcher, for that slightly Palm-y feel
How 'bout it? How d'you take your nook?
elixir - which creates a mini app tray of sorts you can place on your home screen - i created one for each of my screen - home screen had quick access to commonly used items - pulse, usatoday, tapatalk, second screen contained my utilities - titanium backup, ROM manager, Root Explorer etc..
TV Shows Stream - great paid app lets you stream past and current TV shows - while not comprehensive it does capture some of my favorites - outer limits, spartacus, fringe
NookPowerColor Button - really handy power button to turn off screen
CoPilot - navigation software i use with BT GPS
textfree/pinger - send/recieve text
Smart Taskbar:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.smart.taskbar&feature=search_result
Hands-down the absolute best app for app switching. One swipe, regardless of where you are in any app, and you have access to all your apps. A single swipe and tap and I can switch apps in half a second, even if the app wasn't already running.

why do you need a on screen button to turn off the screen? I don't get it, its the same as hitting the power button on the nook, right?
with textfree/pinger, can you send texts to anyone? like any phone?
I second TV Shows Stream!
It is the same as using the power button. However, for me, i like having an icon to just tap for screen off. Use this on my Evo too as it's so much easier to tap and turn off than feel for the power button. For me, it's a matter of convenience, that's all.
because i can place it anywhere in the screen and much more convenient not to mention reduce wear and tear to the power button - god knows we use it often enough when flashing
and yes you can text to mobile phones and not only that, text free gives you a phone number that people can respond and send text to

This is an old screenshot, since I can't take one with CM7 now... but I use extended controls (as seen at the top) and have the following buttons:
Power | Wifi Toggle | Screen Timeout Toggle | Screen-Off | Brightness | Reboot
You can also save your settings to the SD card, so whenever I flash a new ROM, all I have to do is import the profile and apply to the widget.
It works great, well worth the (current) $1.13 price.

Interesting, but it doesn't have a preferences link in the typical place, so I can't get into its settings.
I'm not using VTL anymore, but if I remember correctly you hit MENU and then MORE to access the launcher's settings.
