I've recently installed metamorph, and installed the red theme, but some of the icons, signal bar, ev-do, etc are still gray, dunno if they werent themed or what, so i tried to install a different theme, and it goes through all the motions, but nothing happens, even after a reboot, still red theme. Also, metamorph pops up it needs to reboot dialog box, an i keep clicking yes an it says rebooting.. then pops back up an says the same thing, so i eventually just have to power the phone down myself.
Anyways, is there a stock htc hero theme file I can download to get back to normal or do I need to do a nandroid backup restore? Also I read somewhere that if you didn't have a enough room on your system partition a theme might not install properly? Thanks for the help.
i would uninstall metamorph, and then apply your update.zip again.
yeah i've done that a few times, same results.

sounds like you may have to wipe, and flash your current ROM again.

try rebooting before you install the theme.
Make sure the theme is compatible with the version of cyanogenmod. Different version of cyanogen require different versions of the theme.
Next time this happens do post a logcat, at it will be much easier to pinpoint the issue. Both of the above posts hint towards two very common causes of the black screen. Try what they suggested, and run a logcat while the phone is booting: Plug the phone into the computer, and assuming you have adb installed, enter the following into your phones terminal
Code:
adb logcat

i've tried also rebooting before i install the theme.. nothing changed
@cloverdale: ok im trying logcat, 1st with cyano and a 2nd with theme installed..
edit: i dont know why but after reinstalling the theme the phone doesnt start.. i've tried 3times.. the funny thing is that when i do fix_permissions there arent any errors.. insted i know that it must return some errors message like no such file or directory.. it doesnt happen..
yesterday when i tried it, i red this error and now no.. bha.. :/
guys i've installed the new cyano, 4.2.13 ..
im sorry but i cant upload file bigger than 19 kb.. so i should write it here..
but the text is too long so i cant..
when cyano starts normally i can see the desktop..
when i install every themes, i cant see the desktop -.-
yesterday, with old cyano (4.2.12.2), i tried to replace:
mms.apk contacts.apk launcher.apk phone.apk settings.apk HTC_ime.apk alarmclock.apk camera.apk music.apk
after rebooting there was that problem.. NO DESKTOP!!..
please help me i cant install any theme and i dont know why..
i've also tried to reinstall android 1.6 then cyano.. i still have changed the recovery from cyano to 'RA..
are you using a update.zip theme or metamorph? try wipe
i dont use metamorph, just put my zip in root of sd, then "apply any zip from sd".. i used cyano's recovery and amon ra.
yes i wipe.. everything!! also the dalvik cache.. reinstalled android 1.6 yet!
i think is fix_permission that doesnt work.. 'cos if i replace phone.apk and others with the one of the themes..
black screen!
but i use advanced launcher (the one black) and alarmclock of other themes and i havent any problem..
up..
does anybody know how to solve??
i was reading this:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=604294&page=1
the trouble is the same but he solved changing rom.. i dont want leave cyanogen's rom
Try this (This works for me when I'm having trouble):
Whenever you flash anything, boot into it, then reboot.
So flash CyanogenMOD, boot into it (meaning choose Reboot in recovery), everything looks good? reboot.
flash w/e theme you want, boot into it, if everything's fine, reboot.
flash stericson lock screen (if you want), boot, reboot.. etc etc.
So you flash your zips sequentially (ROM, then theme, then ALauncher/Stericson Lock), with a Reboot from Recovery between flashes.
You get the point. Hope this helps.

errr.. lol. You don't wipe after flashing cyanogenMOD successfully. After it boots correctly, and you're happy, you go back to the Recovery mode, and you flash the theme OVER cyanogenMOD without wiping (you already wiped once to flash cyanogenMOD, you don't wipe again to install a theme).

i've done it without wipe just like KratosAurion told me!!
thank youuuu!!!
ps, i will try again with other themes
Great, glad you're having fun . Don't forget to check out the Dark Star theme, it's win .
Author of Enoch here,
Just wanted to point out that there are a number of users having problems with this in my thread. Some have been using it for a while - but from what I can see here, it extends to other themes as well. From looking at the logcats I've been sent, it seems either a PUID mismatch issue, or a permissions issue.
However, a few users have tried that to no avail. Many other users seem to be able to install the theme with no problem, but a select few get this exact error. Something is not letting home load at all.
Everybody says this app is great but every time I try to do anything with it, it reboots my phone to a green progress bar but before it finished it switches to a picture of a phone with a red question mark on it....am I doing something wrong? I wrote the devs with no response

ROM Manager is for every device that can run clockworkmod recovery, not just the slide. The slide is the only one that can't get a recovery to stick as far as I am aware, so there's no reason for them to include a warning in an app used by tons of devices when only one of them has the issue.
True...didn't look at it that way

I have a stupid ROM Manager question... I remember trying to use a while back and hit a snag. When you open it, it first wants you to install Clockwork Recovery, and of course we cant make ours stick. When I tried this a while back, I remember it breaking my recovery and took some fiddling to fix it. Should I let it run this option, so I can then use it to manage my ROMs?

It now has a recovery for the slide and it works great. It is the only I use to get in recovery.
So to be clear, I can use the Install CWR option from ROM Manager? I cannot do anything else in ROM manager without it wanting to "install" it.
on mine it is the first option "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery", pop-up will show up and it only has the choice of "MyTouch Slide" after tapping that you are good-to-go for rebooting into recovery and flashing ROM's
Yeah I went ahead and did it. I get a lot of Superuser FCs still with it. I even hit the Fix Permissions, which says may fix FCs, and it FCs on me
that's odd I am running it on both of our phones without issue, didn't even have any issues running dumfuq's experimental dopio 960 oc kernel.
I see what happened. Cyans latest ROM comes with a different/newer SU app. When Rom Manager flashed recovery, it downgraded SU. I just grabbed the SU out of the latest CM6 ROM and pushed it to system in recovery and all is good. Running Fix Permissions now to see if it stops the FC I get on some uploader service upon each boot.
oh I forgot, unless you have already figured it out, the power button is NOT used for selecting in cwm anymore... volume still does "up" and "down", track-pad is now "select" and the back button works as "back page"
hopefully all is good.
So, Rom Manager can get you directly to Clockworkmod?
I just got a new Slide, rooted it, and immediately flashed the ENG build.
I then flashed MyFroYo6 with Rom Manager. No dice. What the hell am I doing wrong?
mkay o i'm kind of new to android and tonight i wet my pants cause i thoughy i bricked the optimus. I wanted to install CM7 but something went horribly wrong.
After I rooted and installed ROM manager I copied CM7 to my SD and installed. After it was done the CM7 boot screen kept looping. No way the phone was doing anything more than that.
The only other thing it would do was to sho a 'waiting for update' screen. After a lot of searching I mangaged to get stock ROM back by using smartflash, praise be...
Now that I know I can rescue the phone I'd like to know what whent wrong..any clues? Did I use the wrong build of CM7? I just used the latest of the 4th of july.
I want to try again but maybe some insight would be helpful, thanks...
Did you remember to tick the wipe data box in ROM Manager?
Well it would not install from rom
Manager (installation canceled by itself and ennded up with fresh install of LG rom...) so after that i did it from recovery. cant remember if i got the option to wjpe in there...
So when i installed from ROM manager i did xheck the wipe boxes. Then started installing from SD. The installation stopped, i have seen some sort of warning exclamation but i could not read what was wrong the message disappeared too fast. I think the 'wipe' was sucssesful though because all my apps and settings for stock LG firmaware were back to factory.
Ah ha.
ROM Manager and the stock ROM don't get on too well. Boot to recovery, wipe and install from there.
Assume you are using CWM recovery? It has the option to wipe on there if you look carefully so you can wipe it manually before flashing.
I tried again and it seems GB is now running cause I can see the battery icon on a different angle but it keeps givin me LG installation error messages after boot which i may ' forrxe close' but basicly nothing happens. Did i forget to wipe somerhing or forget to do smth else?
What recovery are you using? If it's 4.0.0.5, you might want to update to the newest 4.0.0.5, as the original one I built had some problems formatting.
The error messagel all seem to refer to LG apps or services. Device wont go beyond these messages.
I know, if it's what I'm thinking, they will have been left behind during the CM install, which shouldn't happen.
Ok so what do you think i should do? thanks for the snappy replies rusty.
Fyi, behind the error messages i can see a black background. The top bar with battery indicator is present, it charging. Signal indicator is there but has no signal.
Change recovery and flash again, either to 3.2.0.0 or the newest 4.0.0.5
this is what it looks like now. When i switch off and do volume down+ power its says waiting for S/W upgrade.
First i need to re-install syock again i guess? Wont do much else..
If you're getting software upgrade, you're letting go of power to early, keep em both held.
Edit: Or use 'adb reboot recovery'
hmkay im in recovery now thanks for that. It says 3.0.2.8
Signarure check enabled
Signature check disabled
Script asserts eneabled
Im not quite sure what you want me to do now. Thanks for your patience
Oh, 3.0.2.8 shouldn't have had any problems then, annoying.
Still, pik the wipe data/cache option, then install CM7
Im there thanks so much Rusty.
I downloaded and installed a theme from the THEME CHOOSER (theme of Real Madrid) and the theme has a bug.
The theme brings me to the loading screen (the screen that after you turn on the phone and before he goes up).
How can I change th theme and fix the problem?
Or can I delete the theme or change a theme in another way (through the recovery or computer).
Please help me, my phone is now stuck and i can do nothing.

They worked (in the past).
Now i cant get in to the phone, if i only could get in and switch to another theme it will be great. But how?
You could restore a CWM-backup (if you made a backup ) or do a factory reset.
No i dont have any CWM backup
I guess I'll have to do a Factory Reset.
Anyway I'll wait a few more hours maybe there is a solution, thank you for trying to help.
No problem.
But if your phone is in a bootloop there are only the mentioned 2 possibilities.
Whenever a CM 12 theme misbehaves after installing where you cant access other things on the phone apart from constant popups of applications closing and misbehaving, what is the right solution in such a scenario to get back to normal working of phone ,
I have read something regarding deleting a folder from TWRP which resets the theme,
If anybody knows any solution apart from installing the ROM again.
Thank you in advance..

That actually won't help as the theme would still be installed and applied. You should be able to delete the theme apk from the file manager in TWRP though. Haven't tried it myself but that should make the theme engine default back to system theme.
Reboot to safe mode.. Atleast you can do that as the reboot menu appears on top of everything regardless what's going on the inside..
Just reapply stock theme..
And reboot..
