Wavesecure is offereing free lifetime membership to Andriod users who download it from the marketplace before January 31st. This is a great program that helps you secure and track down a lost or stolen phone.
Just download it from the Android Market.
Good thing, but Modaco already offers within his rom. It's pretty awesome uses SMS, so no internet connection required.
The application itself is free, however you have to pay 15 euro a year for the subscription.
If you download Wavesecure before the 31st of Jan the subscription will be free for the life of your phone number.
Sorry i should have made it a bit more clear.

not you're phone number, you're IMEI number ONLY. you can contact them to transfer the account when you get a new phone though.

I'm a loan officer, looking for a basic Mortgage Payment Calculator for my Tilt. I saw several software programs available after doing a google browse. Just wanted to get some input from other pocket pc users. I don't need anything fancy just some thing basic to calculate Rate/Term & Interest Only payments while away from my office. I don't mind paying for the software but of course would prefer a trial version first.
Any suggestions?
I know I'm not the only mortgage guy with a Kaiser/Tilt that's still afloat in this ugly market ; )

Hey Roadmenace...
I'm a loan officer cum realtor and have been using the best one that was ever created for pocket pc. How I know this is because I've tried pretty much each and every title thats available on handango/pocketgear.com over the past 4 or so years.. yup! that means from the days of WM2003. And its pretty ironic that having tried some costing as much as $50, the best one was and is totally free.
It was written by one Greg Fischer from Australia, a mortgage rep himself based down under. Its called mortgage calc and I believe it had over a million or so downloads to its name on the above sites back in the days.
However, the person stopped updating it beyond its 3.4 build for over a year and that too for just WM2003se. After a hiatus of over a year and my persistent googling I found his amateur site again and he had actually re-written the whole thing for WM5/6 and its now version 3.5
Sorry for the lesson in history.. I had to cuz if you'd known about it, the software was literally a "living legend" in its category.
Some of the fancy calculators built in it are no longer there for the WM5/6 versions but its still hands down the best you're gonna find hands down.
Here's the link to the website:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/~gm_fisher/Main.htm
and I'm attaching the .cab as well.
A great free option is Microsoft Excel. You can set it up to calculate any of the variables that you mention - rate, # of payments, necessary downpayment, etc. You can also use it for irregular mortgage terms as well. If you are not proficient in Excel, you can download templates directly from Microsoft or from www.vertex42.com (or just do a google search).
This is a great, free option (I think that Excel is the best software ever created, so I am a little bias) IMHO.
Excel is VERY useful. I don't know if it's the best though... I pick notepad.
I am wondering with the difference between a mortgage
Hi, I am wondering with the difference between a mortgage APR and Interest Rate? My mortgage interest rate is 6.875% and the APR is 7.504% does the APR of 7.504% sound right if the interest rate is 6.875%? My mom said that the 2 numbers should be closer together than that. Also, my mortgage banker never mentioned an APR, and since we are 1st time home buyer's, we were unaware of it. We only knew about the Interest rate. Can you please help me?
i called telenav and was able to get a copy of telenav, is there an interest id me linking to it ?
Wdum? Like posting the link? Idk if thats ok on these forums unless it's the trial.
its not the trial, its the full version. but you still have to have an account to use it. they will not give it to cingular users who use the g1, but i acquired a copy. and i am not sure if these forums allow that or not.
h. I'm guessing you pay for the account? I dont really know how the app works in terms of activating lol
It's $10 a month but I don't like pay monthly I don't understand why they just don't put a price to the software and that's it. Why they charge monthly?
http://www.telenav.com/gps-navigator/t-mobile-g1-phone/
Im trying out the demo version, do you wanna post a review and screenshot of it in paid apps or would you like me to?
I haven't installed it, I always forget to cancel autostart subscriptions. Although I guess I could put a reminder in my phone.
Haha ok ill put one up there, so far it works really good, a bit sluggish but i dont have the best signal right now!

OMG that is so (insert term applicable to aad4321, used in a derogatory manner) that you would think they would charge for a trial version. That's usually what a trial version IS.

Anyone and everyone requires a credit card, for auto renewal AFTER the 30-day trial.
It's almost a standard for most companies now-a-days.

Thank you. I wouldn't put my card information in a trial version of anything. That's very "uncool."
Most credit card companies will let you make a vitual card number that is only good once. I think PayPal was exploring the same option too. This way they can't make it recurring.
any idea if it'll work in UK? on US only?
TeleNav GPS Navigator problem
hey guys,
i am using telenav gps for 30 days trial. when i tried to type in an address then click ok, the display says "getting gps" 30....31...32...34...blah blah till 100 percents for 8 minutes. then it says "no gps, please move to open area".. i was in my car and been waiting till done before leave. my email is confirmed. i live in san diego.
I don't have any experience with telenav, but does the gps work normaly? Say for goggle maps?
Move to an area that you can pick up a signal, that might help.
Telenav GPS Navigation Update? How will we know?
Ok I got the Telenav GPS Navigation software and I am mostly pleased. However, My question is when and if they update the software how will I know there's a new update for the software since it isn't downloaded through the Android Market? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Well I'm not sure. See I called the customer service not too long ago and I got this guy that didn't seem like he knew much of what he was talking about. And I asked him and he told me you had to call and ask. But I think that's ridiculous. And I agree with you. You should be able to download it on the market. It is free. Its the service u have to pay for not the application. so I hope they eventually put it on there or send us emails or something. Its gonna bug me because come on, it works pretty good but it clearly needs some updates.

Good work, maybe best ToDo app for Android!
$25 for a todo app? are you kidding me?!
it might be the best but for 25 dollars and it's still in beta, that just insane.. there are plenty others that does just as well and some for free!

Agreed. It's a nice app, but there are already free to-do lists WITH RTM INTEGRATION. Not saying that RTM should give away a free app, but $25 -- especially annually -- is a lot for a simple to-do list.
Well, it's not $25 just for that app, but for the complete Pro account, which doesn't include only access to this new Android client. I pay it each year anyway as a donation to this great tasks organizer, so this is for me just only another reason to do it next year again.
Btw, have it already downloaded and tested and for RTM users this is currently IMO the really best usable client available.

That may be a role in it but I don't see it as a bad thing. It has its pro and cons:
Pros:
- Google sees this as a threat and significantly improves their app market. (Competition... something that AT&T / T-Mobile doesn't value -_-; incoming Market War? In the end it'll cause the two companies to improve their market/app store whatever you want to call it)
- 15 Minute Trial? Nawww.
Google's Android Market lets you return apps for a full refund within the first 15 minutes after you buy. Apple, by comparison, does not allow for trial periods on iOS devices. Amazon is taking a similar approach to Google by letting you test drive apps on your PC. "You control the app with your mouse and experience it like you would on your phone," Amazon's Test Drive Apps page reads. The feature lets you try the app within your browser before you decide to buy. This feature appears to be reserved for some of the more popular titles and may not be available for all apps.

^^ winner?
- Some apps are cheaper on Amazon App Store than the Market.
- Free Paid App of the Day (free paid apps? with permanent updates? huge winner -- at least i believe its permanent updates)
- Countries that don't have access to the Android Market are able to buy apps and get free apps.
Cons:
- Possible that more companies will start their own "App Store" and Android will be more spreaded out in terms of App Markets.
just some of the things on top of my head.
And the worst part is that it's unavailable in several countries.
I couldn't care less about Amazon, but I do want Angry Birds Rio.

Microsoft has already started appealing the term "app store" awhile back. So Amazon would be on Microsoft's side. And I would agree with Microsoft that the term "app store" is too generalized.
http://www.xconomy.com/seattle/2011...tore-a-trademark-that-microsoft-also-opposes/
The Seattle area’s two tech giants, Amazon.com and Microsoft, find themselves on the same side today—battling a trademark claim by Apple. As expected, Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) said Tuesday that it was indeed opening its new Appstore for Android, despite a recent federal lawsuit by Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) claiming trademark infringement of that company’s App Store brand.
Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) has been opposing Apple’s attempt to secure the App Store brand name for a while now, but in a different venue—an appeal with federal trademark regulators.

And since we're on Android... I'm going to go ahead and assume that we all want Amazon/Microsoft to win this lawsuit. Not being a fan boy or anything, but I hate Apple's guts when it comes to making lawsuits on patents/etc.
Besides, in most court cases.. even if they lose. So what? it would either end up in the following ways:
A) Amazon pays money to Apple and continues using 'App Store.'
B) Renames it to something else.
@AllGamer: You don't have to use Amazon App Store to make purchases. You could just simply use it to get 'Free Paid Apps of the Day'
But Amazon is pretty trustworthy. Huge successful corporations. I personally just did it to get Angry Birds Rio and gotta say... the graphics in Rio are much more superb than the original Angry Birds & Angry Birds Seasons.
In the end, the developer of the app/game is still getting paid. Thats what really matters.... isn't it?
For some reason it won't let me get Rio. It says I need to add a payment method to my one-click settings, which I checked and there is a payment method...

I figured this out in case anyone runs into the same issue. Apparently you can't use your Amazon store card (the non-Visa card) as a payment option for the app store. I put in one of my credit cards and it works now.

Well.. it's a very good one Hopefully we'll see some significant changes from Google to their market. Maybe incorporate some of their ideas into the official market.
Today's free paid app, the poker game didn't really appeal to me so I didn't bother with getting it.
Really liking the changes done in Angry Birds Rio.

I found many Rio May 2011 announcements on the Web but no link to an apk file accessible from an unrooted tablet and no Android phone for a (silly) market account access. It took me a while with some specially-worded searches but I found it. For those of you who are also looking for the latest Angry Birds Rio May update, I put it into a Dropbox account:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22653286/Angry_Birds_Rio_1.1.0.apk
I'll leave it on line through July 4, 2011. Hope this helps.
By the way, I found I had to uninstall Rio 1.0.0 first. The 1.1.0 update failed on overwriting. The new 1.1.0 install took out the scores from the first two levels. Your mileage may vary.

Bah! Open your mouth and put your foot in it. The app I am making available is the free advertising-supported version. So far as Dropbox is concerned, tiny type and I could care less. Have you criticized the more-than-a-few other posters who post the link? I don't program any more, just a very satisfied user of the gTab that was at the right price point. The developers on xda should be commended for all the good work they do, and I try to help in my own way. If you want to ***** at someone, go complain to those running the Android "markets" that won't allow Froyo/2.x access without a silly Android cell number. Enuf said.
On second thought, I don't need this kind of (fill in the blank). The Rio app is gone. I will go back to making some money in the stock market, a more productive use of my time.
No need for anger. If you are providing a link to the ad-supported version of the app there shouldn't be any issue. Maybe just make that clear in the OP.
