Windows Messenger - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, i kno this has been asked before. i've done searches but they all seem to go off topic and still havent found a solution yet. so bear with me
so the problem is, i have trouble staying connected on windows live messenger, every so often i get disconnected and it'll reconnect by itself, and when im chatting with someone a lot of messages cant get thru and i have to type again... which is getting very annoying
the thing is, i have only used the stock ROM on the x1 for abt a week, then i decided to flash it with the Touch-It rom... so this makes me wonder if the sony ericsson x1 has horrible reception, or is the the ROM thats causing the problem?
thanks!

problems w/ phone after installing faria

i've been having some problems w/ my phone ever since i installed the faria wm6 a few weeks ago. I've been having trouble sending texts/and making phone calls. And i noticed it is because the phone (in comm manager) is somehow just turning off on its own. I at first thought it was a problem w/ reception, but i doubted it because i used to have reception everywhere when using my old ROM. it happens all the time now, and idea what could be causing this? i really dont want to go back to wm5. any help?
You really should post this in several forums so that you can get the help you need.
tried...no one seems to respond anyways.

Try other WM6 ROMs and make tests before installing any other software, i.e. only with the programs that come with the ROM

messenger cant connect on tytn2..

hi guys, after i upgraded my tytn2 to ROM ver 3.29.707.0WWE, i can't connect to windows messenger. and it says that "There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in an area with good reception and try again".. i had already turned on my wifi and i can also open internet explorer.. what should i do?
help needed...
this problem happened to me when I first got my kaiser...
I could use Wifi with Live messenger - no problems, but when I turn into Data I get the same message
"There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in an area with good reception and try again"
the funny thing though is the problem was solved by itself
I used Parlingo messenger as a replacement....
I guess Windows Live is some kinda nuts... I had that problem for over 2 months and I never faced it after that!
Try - if you can- connecting from different places... I guess once the messenger is hooked, it'll continue to work properly....
this seems strange to say, but again most of M$ programs do the same
cheers
Without a solution right now you could install windows live and use the messenger via the internet connection you are getting?
Try to uncheck option under Settings/Connections/USB to PC
Check the date and time of your Kaiser, Messenger does not work if they are incorrect.

Windows Live Connection Problems

I've recently downloaded a live messenger cab from here after my palringo account seemed to go down the drain....
doing a search it seems there were a number of problems with bringing messenger in but i couldnt find a definitive answer to my problem.
It seems to sign in fine and i can chat away...however should i leave it for a little while the connection drops after a while. If i chat continuously this doesnt seem to happen.
I dont know if this is a setting issue, a program issue or a network issue (which is T-mobile)
I'm flashing the Dutty WM6.1 ROM tonight so i dont know if that will fix it.
Any help is appreciated!

TYTN 2 Freezing/ Scrambled screen

Ive had my tytn 2 for a little over a month now, and I've noticed something when I'm using the phone for heavy texting. After a while, the phone will more or less freeze. The chime stops sounding for a new text, however, the phone continues to operate, and will recieve calls. Also, when the alert stops sounding, if I close the text messaging and return to the today screen, the screen is all scrambled. I have done a few hard resets now to try and clear the problem. I am going to be unable to return the phone to the place I bought it from, as we had a disagreement over the last phone I purchased through them(long story). The touch screen still works on the today screen, and if you know where to push, it will still open programs, just everything looks like snow....
Now, I have WM 6.1 on it(factory rom) ROM version 3.29.422.1 WWE, the ROM date is 05/20/08. The radio version is 1.70.18.02. The phone is used on a T-mobile affiliate(IWireless) network. The techs there are idiots, and I don't think they could dial with this let alone tell me how to fix it....
My previous phone was a T-mobile MDA, which I did love. I know about using different ROMS, Im just not sure how/which one to use on my TYTN 2. HELP ME PLEASE!
anybody have this problem too? it is getting incredibly irritating. I called tech support last night, and the people that I talked to had no idea what I was even talking about. It almost seems as if there is a lag in the programs. I occasionaly get a screen that is telling me that tmail.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. i let it send the error report, but the text program stays open.
Any help would be appreciated!
have you tried to reflash to the factory rom?
Can you warranty it with HTC?
Sounds like a harware problem -- specifically the cable that connects the keyboard is either loosly connected or damaged.
Try to get service directly through HTC -- but if you can't you might want to open it up and see if the cable is seated properly
im not sure it it is a hardware problem, as the phone will go skitzo on me even if I open the keyboard and leave it open. it usually would only do it when im texting, but it did it today, when the phone was on silent, I switched it back to on, and read a text message(did not open it), and when I tried to close the text and return to the today screen, it froze up again, and I had to do a soft reset. im really thinking its a software issue...
I would try to reflash, I had a ROM on mine that had the same problem, I did a reflash and never had the problem again.
Is there any way that I can do the reflash and still have the pre-loaded settings from my carrier? I'm thinking that I can't, but is there a place that I can be pointed to to get a copy of how to do the re-flash? It's got WM 6.1 Professional on it, and it is a branded copy(maybe part of the problem?). Obviously, I need to take some time to write down all of the settings for internet and such...
Are you talking about the network settings or something else? Most ROM's have a connection wizard that will setup network and MMS settings.
mostly the settings for the mms messages, and the internet settings. when I flashed a new rom to my mda, I had to manually put them in, the auto wizards wouldn't work.

Ive had my X2 for a few days now, still cant figure out WM

Alright, so Ive kinda gotten over the fact that my fingers are way too big for this phone and Ive began to be a little bit more nimble...lol...but I have some questions about windows mobile...this is my first WM device...Im worried that symbian is the only one my brain can work with because I did switch one time a few years ago to the LG Viewty but I never really felt comfortable with it...
So heres my first and probably most important question, how do I get my computer to recognize it? I have Windows Vista...I have googled everything and all I have came up with is that I am suppose to use Windows Mobile Device Center...I downloaded drvupdate-x86 and installed it but nothing happened after the install was complete...when I connect the phone it tries to install the drivers(i guess)but then it says something failed with WM Remote Adapter...I then updated windows and tried it again...nothing still...I have also tried to sync it with wmplayer but still nothing...Any ideas?
Also, in the communications manager what should I turn on? Like if I turn on Edge or Wifi does that mean they will be running all the time? That seems like a waste of battery but at the same time when I get on the internet it doesnt ask me what connection I wanna use...and if I have to go to the connection manager every time before I get on the internet that could get annoying...
How do I turn off the SMS sent notification? its so annoying...
Heres my device info so I can make sure everything is right

As for connection - you connect and disconnect through Comm Manager.
It doesn't turn off by itself what is quite handy if
you rely on constant connection.
Just disconnect when you want to stop it..
Thanks...anybody know of a good, I guess, WM tutorial video for me? lol...I guess I just need to learn the basics or something...
Hi have you loaded the software that came with your phone ? everything that you should need to connect to your pc is on the disc, i think the only other file you might need is if i am right windows net work, there is some instructions in the connect programe to get your setup up and running, i hope this helps i am new to the x1 aswell and i am still learning, only had the phone 2 weeks but liked it so much i bought another one, so i have one on each major network here in New Zealand, also where else can you buy a phone at a decent price and have, a differnt theme on your phone everyday of the week, these cooks are awsome and create some awsome programmes.
there is tons of information here if you cant find it by searching then ask i am sure that no one will bite your head off as most are good guys/gals, i have not had as much fun with anything since my Amiga days, but now i am showing my age lol but what the hell have fun with it and you will only learn by trying and playing with the phone, you can allways return it back original factory settings and you lose nothing apart from your contacts which will be on your sim card and emails will be lost or you can use SPBackup to backup any thing that is important.
i had better shut up as im rambling lol
If you want to connect your phone to your computer using activesync, start up 'Windows Mobile Device Center'
you can do so by going to start > and typing windows mobile device center. The shortcut will show up by itself.

WinMo is so easy. In fact any OS is easy. Just play with your phone and mess with the settings now and then.
Sorry I don't think anyone has answered even one of your questions.
If you keep WiFi on, it is as left on and thus consuming battery life as long as the phone is not sleeping (i.e. screen off), and it is the preferred connection used when there is a WiFi signal available. WiFi will never turn on by itself if left on the off position however.
If you turn off the 3G or EDGE data connection, they will reactivate automatically when needed. It doesn't take much battery life to keep the Internet connection running though, and it is necessary if you are pushing email to your device.
As for Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC), Windows Update will not automatically download the software on its own, and I'm sure the majority of us don't remember the file name of WMDC. So did you download the file you are specifying from this portal? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
