So if I have the new radio (2.22.19.26I) and the PVT board. Do I still need to do a wipe then flash the SPL then reflash my rom? I have looked around but can't seem to find some concrete clarification on this.
Yeah, that sounds fine.
wipe
flash the spl
wipe
flash the new rom
if your on cyan's recovery, make sure you press alt&s on the keyboard then when it asks you to reboot press home and back, don't use the trackball at all.
Thank you very much I appreciate the help

It's a bug in Cyan's recovery when flashing the radio or spl. Basically, when you use the trackball to aply the update and reboot, it wont actually have been flashed. Physically pressing the keys does, though. It's only for SPLs and radios, it's fine for ROMs. This is what other people have reported, no idea if it's fixed in 1.4.

I call it a feature. It means noobs have to research before potentially bricking
After I've reflashed my rom after applyin the spl update could I use a nandroid backup? Or does the back up affect the spl? I've had the radio for awhile now and just never did the spl. I have a backup from before I did the spl that is using the newest radio.
So if that's confusing sorry. I want to know if I can use a nandroid backup with the new spl after I reflash my rom after a wipe.

do you mean you want to use nandroid to back up or do you mean restore that backup?
I dont believe the nandroid restore affects the radio (if it does i would be scared to restore lmao)

haha thats how i learn. i just read, read and more read
I got everything running by myself w/o posting any questions
If i didnt understand something, i would spend hours and visit multiple sites to learn what the hell i was doing.
i know what its like being a noob, not everything is clear cut, and sometimes people just want to do something and not get involved in the community, which is why there are so many hit-n-run people. I loved this community though because of all the help, and im hoping to get more people to stay by helping them out
(some people just annoy me though haha)
EDIT: Nandroid doesnt touch the radio. the radio is 91mb. the biggest files in the nandroid flash are the data and system partitions (about 50-60mb each)
I wouldnt recommend restoring a nandroid back up because the dangerspl repartitions the flash memory. However, it could still work. someone with more experience please answer the man
@AdrainK
Ah well since I have had 1.4 I haven't had to flash the spl or radio so no issues here just wondering. Thanx for clearing that up for me

Guys, I don't have the original image and the only image I have on my SDcard is eclair 2.0-1.2
I am just upset with the OP for providing insufficient instructions and I am very unaware of the previous setup required before doing it so.
I am in recovery mode and my G1 keeps rebooting over and over since I wipe the factory default.
I apologize for not using the search button because I don't see any answers, or maybe I just want direct answer.
Sorry, I have to ask this, how do I recover the image on my G1? I have it connected to my PC but it's currently in recovery mode right now.
Please provide me detailed step to step what I need to do. Thank you for your time and effort, this is upsetting me big time.

Don't blame them for the fact you didn't read THIS :
first you will need these things haykuro spl,ext3/linux-swap if you dont have it and if you do wipe them clean
The please provide links for those kinds of software.

If u r using stock recovery u should b serching for something like Fastboot or adb, if u using cyan's or RA's recovery that just find different room to flash. It would b nice to know Phones specs...SPL, Radio, REcovery etc. just like what i got in my sig.
For future references post in Q&A thread or where is the ROM u flashed is, Provide some info if u need help.
I am using standard recovery. I tried Droid Explorer and no luck.

Since you're too cocky and too ignorant to do most of the things on here, I suggest you put your phone back to stock as soon as you figure out how to flash images. Get the "recovery image" from here http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html, then go ahead and get a card reader, drop the file on the reader, rename it update.zip, boot into recovery, alt+s to flash it, alt+w to wipe, then reboot.

ok then go here and set up adb after u done follow the link in my sig to flash RA 1.5.2 recovery. After u get RA recovery find the rom u need to flash id suggest Cyans rom or WG and make sure ur SPL and RAdio is uptodate.
Good luck.

Me and Ace42 spent around 2 pages in manups thread trying to help only to be told '**** You' we have given him all the links to help him yet still he does not listen and proceeds to be rude and obvoxious.
I think he is looking more for someone to do it all for him rather than using the information already given out to help himself.
All I can say is good luck, your gonna need it!
I did everything right and after I reboot when in safe mode, it loads the "tmobile G1 screen but the 2nd load screen loads forever and does not change. I waited over an hour last night and it did not finish loading.
Should be in Q&A mate.
What rom ? what version ? what does it say if you run a logcat.
Try reflashing it via the recovery console.
safe mode refers to windows and recovery mode is the one your talking about. You should at least give other info like your SPL,radio,ROM,recovery,etc..

Ext2 errm 512mb is good
rest is fat32
now, put your ROM on the sd card , and flash it
...
next time Wipe Data/cache , Dalvik-cache, sd:ext before you flash the ROM
Oh and do a nandriod back up BEFORE you wipe Data/cache , Dalvik-cache, sd:ext, before you flash the ROM and might be a good idea to read up next time before you Wipe Data/cache , Dalvik-cache, sd:ext before you flash the ROM Oh and do a nandriod back up BEFORE you wipe Data/cache , Dalvik-cache, sd:ext, before you flash the ROM

Please bear with me. I tried posting questions about this in the Q/A forum and received no real help.
I recently went from FRF50 to FRF83 and started getting random reboots. I'm on the 4.06.00.12_07 radio with the stock kernel. I wiped everything before flashing.
Today I wiped again and reflashed FRF50 and everything seemed to be okay aside from maybe 1 reboot.
I just flashed the stock FRF85B and rooted it and I'm back to rebooting. It's even worse now. It reboots the instant everything loads.
I got the last_kmsg:

Please let me know what's wrong. I'm dying to know. Is it hardware? Is it the battery? Am I going to have to pay a buttload of cash for HTC to fix it?

Is it the wrong forum? Do people at the Q/A or general forum know about kernels/deeper info and do the people who know about that stuff venture over to those forums?
I tried getting info there, and I got none. This is the last place to turn.
What would wiping and starting from stock achieve?

How will this help me? Okay if stock works, but what about the update?
Why not maybe looking at using one of the moded versions of the Rom. If those dont work then maybe you need to think of going back to the Stock 2.1 and waiting for OTA to hit your phone. Going back to 2.1 will fix the problem and getting the OTA should work. Other wise wiping and reflashing is all that someone can tell you to do since I know i am using FRF83 right now with no reboots.
Just wipe everything inc dalvik-cache
Stock kernel keeps rooting so I guess its a framework issue

if you have an ext partition.. wipe that as well..
might be a battery issue. my battery had been overheated during navigation and right after boot it would give out turn off and boot again. just replaced it and worked fine.

What do you mean by this?
I'm pretty sure it is the battery. Been keeping minimal use today without USB charging and haven't had a reboot.
Any other ways I can confirm a bad battery?

If you can successfully boot and use the phone heavily while connected to a charger (preferrably AC charger - it can provide twice the current of USB cable), and you see no reboots - I believe that would point to your battery with a very high probability.
Hey guys, I had dug out my old HTC G1 and was trying out the new roms. I was running on 2.3.4 I believe and before flashing anything I had made a Nandroid backup. After flashing couple of Roms i didn't like them and I tried to flash a specific one recommended by someone and after flashing my phone was stuck on the G1 screen and nothing after that.
So I went back into recovery and tried to flash the rom again and it didn't work, then I tried another rom which had previously worked and that one didn't boot up either and finally I tried to restore from Nandroid and that didn't work either, phone is still stuck on G1 screen as of right now.
I am attaching a picture of the Hboot and SPL etc if thats any help, but if someone could help me out it would be great I would hate to have this phone just be a paper weight.
Thanks again!
EDIT*
Guys the two posts that are in reply to this thread by me are from a different thread where I had originally reported my concerns, I have included them in this thread so in case anyone else is running into similar issues they can possibly obtain something useful from them.

Re: [ROM][4.0.4][29.01.13] BananaSandwich v0.2 - first smooth & fast ICS ROM (CM9 bas
If you were following the full directions in the banana bread thread then you would be at least attempting to use cmtd, but not a requirement. Yes you should update radio and SPL, as well as flash amonra recovery, no need to unroot. Just search out ezterrys thread in the developers section titled 2708+ update, and follow all steps there, even will find a link for amonra.
Search out cmtd if you want to learn more, not required hardly ever but can be nice. Also you can repartition SD when ever you want, no unroot needed for that, if you have further questions I suggest not leaving them in this unrelated thread as respect to developer
Edit, I see you already have another thread in the works, post any question there and someone will help, chances are the cmtd did work when flashing bannanabread which would make sense if you cant restore nandroid as partitions changed. Also note you need to do a full wipe, preferably a super wipe or fast boot -w in between ROM flashes, and yes even when restoring a nandroid

3. flash hboot0013d, reboot
4. flash recovery-ra-dream-v1.7.0-automtd.zip reboot
make sure you have partitioned sdcard (swap, sd-ext - I recommend ext4)
then follow instructions from ROM topic
I'm sure it will work
