I messed up my 8 gig last night and I am on the search for a new one
I am looking at this one.
Anyone use TOPRAM? Anyone use something different?

Nope is was a class 2. It was weird, I went into recovery and wiped it from there and reset my partition sizes to play with the new kernel and when I booted back it said it was damaged.

Yeah no dice. Tried 3 OS's and a few utils to no avail. Gets almost to the end and blows up.
i think it may have something to do with the slower card!
like the transfer speed is too slow!
I got this one...didn't see any 16gb cards that had a ton of reviews. I am going to wait until more come out or there are enough users who have bought them.

I've never had a Kingston do me wrong.
Except for when they kept getting solen...

I already searched on this and the only thing i've found was you either had to know at time of purchase, or it would say on the sd card itself (a number with a circle around it). My mini SDHC Card nor the packaging it came in had neither of these, and i basically bought it at the store so i couldnt check any model numbers online.
Any other way to tell? I'm not having problems with it, I just want to know if im getting the most out of my G1. In my sig ive just assumed i had a class 2 card (I read somewhere that if it doesn't say anything, it's probably class 2)

You are right. If it doesn't say anything most likely it is a class 2, but if you want to be sure there is software out there that will test the read/write speeds to let you know what class it is.

Thanks for the advice, sir. Do you, by chance, have the name of that software?
Just go to google and type "sd card speed test software". It will pull up multiple results with different programs and from there you can see which one suites you best. Majority of those programs are free so you'll be straight.
There is a FREE USB Benchmark program you can download from this link

its called Crystal Disk Mark. Enjoy!
Hey i recently purchased a 16GB Mini SD. As soon as i got it i formatted it to FAT32 then tried loading Android onto it. Went to file explorer on my phone and the SD didnt show up. So i plugged my phone back into the comp (i dont have an SD reader on my comp) and it showed the SD's storage to have 707GB! Yes 707GB! lol Unless this is a super magic card, something is wrong lol.
I Have tried formatting it again but under windows the only options are exFAT and NTFS. Im not to sure what exFAT is?
Any light shed on this is appreciated
how much did you pay?
i guess its one of these cheaper ones which are only shown with a higher capacity but are in reality a 2gb card or something like that.
DN41
$40 Australian dollars. Thing is when i first put in the phone it read 16GB but when i tried putting Android on it it wasnt read by the phone. And now its 707GB, i wish it was really haha
try to format it as ntfs or exfat and back to fat32...
does this help?
DN41
I tried formatting to NTFS and a window pops up 'windows was unable to complete the format'
And thats all hmmm.. maybe a dodgy card?
Did you not mean microSD? I'd love to see how you can fit a miniSD (larger than microSD) into the microSD slot of HD2.
Where did you purchase your card from, mate? If the answer is eBay then there's a good chance it's fake.
I bought a 32GB micro SD (Kingston) off ebay... It showed up as a 32GB sd card on my laptop, and tried to work on my phone, but every time would try to run android I had problems... I thought I was just a noob doing something wrong, and honestly wasn't gettin a lot of help from others on the forum. Tried new builds, new ROMs, nothing.. Bought a new 8GB card, Perfect! Everything works! The questionable cards seem to lead to questionable results. I would buy one from a brick & morter store and try it. If it works, great, if not, take it back. Good luck!

...and I beg you could probably read/write 32GB of data on your laptop.
However, a common hack used by fake cards is to only store indexes of files beyond its real capacity on the card and store the actual data on your hard disk. Once you take the card to other host (i.e. HD2) then it would all fall apart...
As far as i know its a legitimate card. Came fully sealed in the original packaging. And yes it is a microSD, im sure you know what i mean.
Question i ask now is it possible to bring back a corrupt card to life. I downloaded this tool to re-format but no luck. It says 'this format is not recognized' i even read somewhere else putting it in the freezer might give it a kick start haha

You must got a good deal if you bought locally then. www.staticice.com.au tells me the cheapest 16GB microSD is $41 plus delivery and it's only class 2.

Depends. IF you bought a fake it could be well packed as real. Then again, I don't know where you bought yours from.

I replaced my hd2 SD card 3 times all of them are SanDisk 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB.
And every time it works for 2 weeks or 3 then it get corrupted so I’m sick of buying SD cards for this device.
I have no idea why it's getting corrupted even the tech support says my device is ok no problems found.
So I decided to save my money and wait for HTC Windows Phone 7
i had nothing but problems with android on the hd2 and micro sd's all are genuine cards too, managed to recover the files and format the cards luckily otherwise i'd be buying two new micro sd cards, leave android for android devices lol, windows phone 7 out soon no doubt there'll be some new roms out for us happy HD2 owners then.....

I have the same prblm with the 2gb and 4gb microsds. The 2gb one got corrupted till the extent I can't format it nor recover the files from it.
The same happened to the 4gb except that the format on my hd2 seems to be working but not helping much, it's taking too much time and yet the storage card folder still didn't appear.
The formatting prgms on my computer gave me errors when i tried formatting the microsd. So in the end, the microsd is corrupted badly as the first one.
I realized that it been a while since your last post, so any luck in fixing ur prblm?
Hey ppl's, this has just happened to me a second time today. I happend once before when I was traveling. Though I think I have quite possibly found a link. While I was traveling i was useing the Win mobile app for facebook to upload photos (which i hardly use) Then today I was using it (randomly) again and shortly after the micro SD card was unreadable. Could it be something to do with the app / the way it creates multiple subfolders to cache photos from facebook profiles?
I just bought a kingston 32gb class 6 micro sdhc but when ever i put it in my hd2 it just freezes up and as soon as I remove the card it works fine again. At first i though that it was a fake so I:
1)performed multiple tests,
2)reformated a 1000 times,
3)even putting 20gb of data just to make sure.
Turns out that it is authentic and it works perfectly on my girlfriend's htc BalckStone it also worked when I installed NAND (which i later removed due to insufficient memory).Ive been searching for days, I think its a windows mobile issue, any tips??
I was wondering which sdhc card I should replace the 16 GB with the class 2 from SanDisk or class 4 from Kingston

I dont anyone has had a problem with the san disk class 2 cards, I might try the mymemory own branded class 4 card and see if it works though.

What homer.web said. I had a 32GB Sandisk card ready and waiting for my HD7, but I tried living with the inbuilt 16GB, found that I could very easily, and returned the 32GB card to Amazon.
Trust us, you don't need 32GB. Just use the phone and you'll see what we mean.

Have you already ran out of free space? I am just trying to find out, what is the reason, that drives you to dismantle your phone, void your warranty and spend cuple hundreds of bucks for the SD Card. I just don't get it... As you said, lol...
Yeh, I have 26gb of music, I dont want to have to sift through and decide what I want, I want all of it.
And it you dont have to void to warrenty to do it, so why not.

Well, I have about 50GB of music and I have bought 160GB iPod to have everything with me in my BMW with iPod connector. Its for nothing. I have foud myself listen only to a fraction of the music. And it just slows down the iDrive control and makes it difficult to find something. So with the WP7 I was not lazy and picked up just the selection of my favorite music and synchronized it with the HD7. Its easy and if I want to add something I just drag and drop it on the phone icon.
As Jim Colleman said: Just use your phone, and time will show, if its necessary to do it...

actually, if you have to send your phone in, it will void the warranty unless you put the stock card back in. That means opening your phone twice, which doubles the chance of breaking something.
To the OP: I haven't read a single story of someone successfully using a kingston card in a hd7.
Some people dont want to carry a seperate iPod, why do you need to say something everytime someone wants to upgrade the memory, he didnt ask why he shouldnt do it.
It can be done, and when it works its fine and you have more space for videos and music, why is this a bad thing, there are no draw backs to everyday usage if it works. Let people get on with doing it.
Hey Everyone,
I just got my Xperia T & I know it has enough memory of 16gb on the phone but I just wanted to slap in a Class 10 8gb card that I had as well & my card doesn't click into the slot. Man I don't want to be opening a new phone to fix this. Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix?
Thanks
Moe

The card should go in with the writting towards the back of the phone and and the wobbly edge towards the bottom of the phone.
I have a samsung 32gb class 10 and it fits in fine. With this card the writting is upsaide when i put it in
That's how it is dude, like I said the card goes into the slot but just doesn't stay it pushes out. The micro sim clicks in fine?

tried that dude & it still didn't work so didn't want to break anything inside by putting more force into it. Anyway thanks for your help will try getting it checked out and if it won't get fixed last option is to sell this one and i guess get another one.

You should be able to format an ad card with a Chromebook.
Link to the card you bought? I'm in the market for a new one....
:good:
Is it possible that the SD Card is partitioned strange?
If so a format wouldn't fix that. You would probably need to use DiskPart
could also be a fake. 200GB sold as 400GB.

I doubt it's fake cuz I used it in my Switch and it was list as just under 400gb. I bought it on Amazon on Black Friday 2 years ago when I bought the Switch.
Have you tried reformatting it in ex-FAT using the default allocation size?
No I haven't had access to a computer recently. Will try when I can. Thanks

IIRC most fakes will display the size as listed on the box but will destroy data as the real capacity is reached
