Hey Everyone,
I just got my Xperia T & I know it has enough memory of 16gb on the phone but I just wanted to slap in a Class 10 8gb card that I had as well & my card doesn't click into the slot. Man I don't want to be opening a new phone to fix this. Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix?
Thanks
Moe

The card should go in with the writting towards the back of the phone and and the wobbly edge towards the bottom of the phone.
I have a samsung 32gb class 10 and it fits in fine. With this card the writting is upsaide when i put it in
That's how it is dude, like I said the card goes into the slot but just doesn't stay it pushes out. The micro sim clicks in fine?

Nope is was a class 2. It was weird, I went into recovery and wiped it from there and reset my partition sizes to play with the new kernel and when I booted back it said it was damaged.

Yeah no dice. Tried 3 OS's and a few utils to no avail. Gets almost to the end and blows up.
i think it may have something to do with the slower card!
like the transfer speed is too slow!
I got this one...didn't see any 16gb cards that had a ton of reviews. I am going to wait until more come out or there are enough users who have bought them.

But why do you need to replace it?
To get more memory! why else? lol
I dont anyone has had a problem with the san disk class 2 cards, I might try the mymemory own branded class 4 card and see if it works though.

What homer.web said. I had a 32GB Sandisk card ready and waiting for my HD7, but I tried living with the inbuilt 16GB, found that I could very easily, and returned the 32GB card to Amazon.
Trust us, you don't need 32GB. Just use the phone and you'll see what we mean.

Have you already ran out of free space? I am just trying to find out, what is the reason, that drives you to dismantle your phone, void your warranty and spend cuple hundreds of bucks for the SD Card. I just don't get it... As you said, lol...
Yeh, I have 26gb of music, I dont want to have to sift through and decide what I want, I want all of it.
And it you dont have to void to warrenty to do it, so why not.

Well, I have about 50GB of music and I have bought 160GB iPod to have everything with me in my BMW with iPod connector. Its for nothing. I have foud myself listen only to a fraction of the music. And it just slows down the iDrive control and makes it difficult to find something. So with the WP7 I was not lazy and picked up just the selection of my favorite music and synchronized it with the HD7. Its easy and if I want to add something I just drag and drop it on the phone icon.
As Jim Colleman said: Just use your phone, and time will show, if its necessary to do it...

actually, if you have to send your phone in, it will void the warranty unless you put the stock card back in. That means opening your phone twice, which doubles the chance of breaking something.
To the OP: I haven't read a single story of someone successfully using a kingston card in a hd7.
Some people dont want to carry a seperate iPod, why do you need to say something everytime someone wants to upgrade the memory, he didnt ask why he shouldnt do it.
It can be done, and when it works its fine and you have more space for videos and music, why is this a bad thing, there are no draw backs to everyday usage if it works. Let people get on with doing it.
Arrrrgggghhhhh . . . micro SD card won't stay in. I know I'm pushing it in far enough and it feels like it's locking in place. I had NO problem ejecting it so it just doesn't make sense.
I've tried 2 different cards and neither will stay in. I search XDA and internet for solution but the only thing that I find is to return it because it appears the SD card slot is broken. I bought my NC used on eBay over 2 months ago and everything has been working fine, so returning it is NOT solution for me.
Any suggestions are very, very much appreciated!!
By the way, this is my first post . . . so, please be gentle!!!
Can you get it to boot from it if you hold it in with your finger?

The same thing happened to me, I also couldn't return it. I bought it from eBay and I live in Europe.
I couldn't fix the SD slot, but I noticed that if I force the card to stay in it connects. In the end I pushed a folded piece of thin cardboard between the card and the plastic, which forced the card to stay in. It has worked ok for the last 4 months or so. I cannot remove the sd-card though, but since I have a 32gb one, it doesn't really matter.
Could it be out of spec cards and not the nook that is causing the problems? Have you tried other cards or brand of card to see if they might stay in place?

For me at least the sd card slot was definitely broken, I tried at least three different cards from different brands that were official ones/not counterfeit.
Similar happened here. In this case, after about 8 months the 2 retaining springs fell out, so the card wouldn't "latch" in place. At least I could put the card in and have it work but had to use a dental tool to rescue it.
It was still under the original warranty (and I did buy the 1yr extended as well-I think I'm going to be glad that I did).
B+N CS was slow and slightly clueless- but unfailingly nice. Had a "new" refurb in 5 working days.
Even if you're the second owner, you might want to call CS and run the serial # to see if there's still any warranty left. Couldn't hurt.....
Otherwise, if you're brave enough, you can try to get in there and remove the springs entirely. The card will stay in place but you will need a tool of some sort to remove it when needed.
I had the same issue, called B&N and they wanted to to take it to the closest B&N to me which is like an hour away. I kinda did something that was bad for me to do but I erased everything before attempting to install a ROM. I was able to boot into recovery but I can install stuff from the uSD. i ended up erasing the entire nook to where it boots to a screen that says
Code:
A N D R O I D _
and said something had happened and the CS finally sent me a new nook.
Thanks for all of the feedback. The Nook boots up just fine. I needed to install the old version of Marketplace so that's when I discovered that the sd card won't stay in. I had JUST used it to restore a backup and I had no problems ejecting it nor to I recall hearing anything weird or seeing anything fall out (other than the sd card). I'll try rantak's sugguestion of a piece of cardboard.
I spent 45 minutes at B&N when I first bought the NC as I wanted to register it in my name but because I couldn't contact the previous owner to deregister, B&N basically refused to help me with anything! And I felt they were looking down on me because I bought a used NC on eBay. It wasn't like I would NOT be a customer but after that . . . I'm NOT a customer any longer!!!
Mine now does this to, but if I push hard it will finally stay in place, but I'm afraid that will sooner or later cease working as a solution.
And I've rarely removed the sd card.
Mine did this in the middle of a nightly update. I had to physically hold the card in while I wiped it and restored to stock so that I could get it replaced under warranty. Called B&N on a Monday night a new refurb by Wednesday night. Great customer service!
This is why I do not recommend people put CM7 on the card and then keep swapping between stock and CM7. Eventually the slot will fail. Mine failed and I never remove the card.

I know it's an option but it would be great if you can write up a little up-to-date instructions and post in one of those HOW_TO thread such this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303843
It would be great help for others.
I thought about that, but the how to restore to stock thread pretty well covers it other than you have to physically hold the card in during the entire process....

What do you mean by this? At first I thought you meant swapping as in taking out/putting in the sdcard all the time, but then you say mine failed and I never remove the card.
I have been running off the sdcard for a long time and only just recently (to update to 7.1) had a need to remove the card.
I could see constantly swapping the card out, but I don't see the effect of simply running off it.

I meant swapping the card in and out. In my case, it was more severe as the slot failed and I never touch the card. Just trying to emphasize the point that the slot is fragile.
Hey has anyone else noticed that when a ad card is inserted and you close the flap that it doesn't close properly like when there isnt a card? Its maybe nothing but little things like this really bother me lol

Yup, its very minor but just enough to give the flap a curve and springiness - thought it was the sim card because I cut full sized sim myself with bluntish scissors. Took SD card out just now to confirm and it does stop the flap closing completely... might back up the card then trim it

Yeah it is very minor but I'm a detail freak and it was driving me nuts at least if I know its normal and not just me thats fine! Yeah I was up for ages taking in and out the sim and trying different sd cards thinking id put it in wrong. Poor design testing other than that cannot fault the device as of yet
Hell of an upgrade to my desire S!
But yeah it needs a trim I didnt think of that al though I think you should try it and report back if it works before I completely **** my phone up !
I don't have a spare sd card right now, when I get home I'll test it on an old one

my micro sim fits in fine did you use the sim eject tool to push it in as I had your problem before as hadn't pushed all the way in but it still worked and read SD card for some reason.
Hope this helps
You mentioned sim and sd card, just to clarify its sd card and distortion is less than a millimetre.

I mentioned the 'Sim eject tool' to use to insert the SD card..... I was not talking about the actual sim card just the tool provided.
Hope this helps clarify things for you if your comment was in responce to mine :0)

You should be able to format an ad card with a Chromebook.
Link to the card you bought? I'm in the market for a new one....
:good:
Is it possible that the SD Card is partitioned strange?
If so a format wouldn't fix that. You would probably need to use DiskPart
could also be a fake. 200GB sold as 400GB.

I doubt it's fake cuz I used it in my Switch and it was list as just under 400gb. I bought it on Amazon on Black Friday 2 years ago when I bought the Switch.
Have you tried reformatting it in ex-FAT using the default allocation size?
No I haven't had access to a computer recently. Will try when I can. Thanks

IIRC most fakes will display the size as listed on the box but will destroy data as the real capacity is reached
