Hi everybody!!
Before I tell you my question I want to say that I'm totally new to Android and ofcourse theming it.
This morning I was trying to modify the GenieWidget.apk to make the background transparant. After reading a few topics I was able to change the background. But now I'm a bit stuck...
My question is, is it possible to change the widgets alignment? The GenieWidget is normally on the left of the screen (the content) and what I want is to center the content of the Weather part of this widget. So the weather has to be on the center of te screen... (the whole widget has to be centered...)
Is that possible? I attached my GenieWidget.apk
Kind regards,
Stylooo
Good question.
(BUMP)
- You could always resize the widget with LauncherPro Plus. But that doesn't really fix the 'problem'.

That won't work like you said. What I need is just a few padding at the left of the widget... And my guess you have to edit a .XML file, but I don't know how to edit them.

I guess, yes, it´s possible...if you edit the values in the right xml.file.

Okay but how do you edit the files? The xml files in the apk's are not standard xml files right?
Do a search of these forums for APKManager. It is a really fantastic script/tool that consolidates and utilizes a number of other useful tools created by XDA members.
Specifically, it will decompile the apk you want to modify (GenieWidget) and convert the XMLs into a format you can view and edit as you would any other XML. And, once you are finished your changes it will recompile the apk, converting the xmls back into the otherwise unreadable format, and even sign and install if needed.
It is probably the most useful tool I've yet to come across.
I am looking for the latest version of the transparent or no baxkground geniewidget for my Samsung vibrant as i am using the version 1.17 rc6

You have to uninstall the one you have on your phone before installing the 'newer version' (Excuse my lolz).
If not you can push it through adb. Works aswell.
is it not possible to install geniewidget with a transparent background on a non-rooted phone??
I can use calwidget with a transparent background, battstatt with a transparent background and tajm with a transparent background.
is there no crisp looking weather widget with options for a transparent background or resizable features???

Uninstalled but doesn't help
Actually is my version the latest?
There's no "newer" version.
People modify widgets to their liking.
You need basic ADB knowledge to replace applications on your phone.
1) Get the Android SDK
2) Install it to C:\ and rename the folder Android
3) ADB-debugging on your phone = YES
4) Start CMD and type cd C:\android\tools
5) Type adb devices (See your device?)
6) Type adb remount (Read/Write privliges)
7) Type adb pull system/app app (Makes a new folder in /tools named app)
8) Put your GenieWidget in the App-folder, overwrite the old one
9) Type adb push app system/app
Done.

Why would you want to add apks to the system? not like you'll be distrubuting the rom is it? so the answer to that may be pointless...
The wifi thing - hmm, possibly unless the rom specifies that it has N enabled..
Fonts - I don't believe you can, I think you have to use an app from the market like FontChanger to change fonts.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong,

well i want to remove some coz i dont use them and add those i use.
and yes i manualy correct wifi setings and is working ok
fonts <- by the way question
Well you can certainly remove some from your system folder and add apks no problem, sorry, I misunderstood, that is fine, you can remove specific ones, taking care to not remove any "core" apks... dialer.apk for example..
For fonts you can download an application called FontChanger from the market, that allows you to use different fonts you can download from websites (www.dafont.com for example) and use these as your standard font

Yes he is right. You can not install new fonts by copying them into font folder. Have to install Font changer.
I made a fixed port of Xperia PLAY's launcher from 2.3.2 because I loved its blue and glossy dock, what is changed in update 2.3.4. My question is can anyone sign this for me because I can't. There are two launchers. My port, and an Xperia Home launcher 2.1.0.A.7 mod, they're in the attachments.
Use ZipSigner2 from the market to sign them.
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
Tried it, but still cannot install. I tried to move the APK to system/app and changed t
he permissions to rw-r--r-- but no success. I also tried to flash it via update.zip but same result.
How can I get my launchers working? Its ok if my port is not working because maybe I messed something up, but the arc home mod? Any help?
Try One Click Apk Signer or search for APKtool or APK Manager and see if they do the job for you.
Sadly still not working, launchers not installed even if i move them to system/app and change permissions.

Hi Friends
Could anybody please tell how to make status bar transparent in Nokia X2.
Currently I am using xblast tools for that purpose but the bar becomes black after I receive or make a call.
Gravity box does not work.
Please suggest me any other modules or app for this.
Thanks in advance!
Here you go...I ur firmware is odexed then go to /system/app and delete systemui.odex and replace your systemui.apk with this one and if your firmware is deodexed then just replace the apk
I have to restart my phone after doing that? Will it make status bar transparent? Thankyu very much!!
I am seeing file systemui.odex I have to delete this one?
I have done that but it keeps on showing message 'cant do this 'com.systemui.apk' at the movement'
Thank god i have made backup of default system ui.apk qnd i have replaced it.
Any other idea?
Thnqs in Advance
Yes bro its transparent...and u will have to delete odex file and then replace it...after replacing you will get a series of force closes but dont worry jst pull you battery out and put it in and turn on the mobile...but remember first delete odex file then replace
