I understand that this is not a buy and sell forum, but...
I have a Rogers HTC Dream.
I have searched hi and low to find a new/used/broken-phone motherboard to fix my brick. I have not been able to find anything or anyone who can help.
I tried to get rogers to fix it -- no go. No warranty, no repair, for any amount of money.
I called HTC. HTC said they cannot fix my phone based on my serial number -- it's a rogers phone.
Does any one know where I can get a motherboard?
ebay? Look for one with a cracked screen or something like that. As long as it will boot, it should be fine.
XDA does have a buy/sell section btw.
Thanks for the reply.
I haven't seen any broken rogers dream phones on ebay -- only good phones.
I will look for the buy/sell section.

iMod_954: I sent you PM to try to move this discussion out of this forum since it probably should not be here.

Hey there guys. Please don't be angry for making another ****ty "how to unlock G1" thread. I wanted to post in the recent one, but i guess it got closed.
Well here is my question. I'm about to trade my TyTn II for G1. The problem is that the G1 is bought in Austria(T-Mobile) and i live in Slovenia. If i'm gonna call T-Mobile what should i say? My english isn't all that great, but i think i can handle it. The only problem is, if they are gonna speak German...
Lets say, they speak english. What should i say? I don't think you just say:" hey could you give me the code to unlock my G1?"
Maybe i'm a little annoying, but if there is anyone who is willing to help, i will be very grateful.

Think the policy is a lil different in other countries other than the US. We would normally say we are going out of the country so we need to unlock it to use an alternate sim. But in the UK they charge a fee unless you have been a customer for over a certain amount of time. I know its alot longer than the 90 days we have.
So there is no way to unlock it?
Edit: This is legit right? http://www.unlock-tmobileg1.com/
Cause if there isn't other way i'll just pay those 19€. That isn't so expensive.

My advice is buy one off eBay. Reasoning being, any website like that can make all the fake testimonies they want, and you could get screwed very easily. If you go to ebay you can choose a seller with good feedback who is clearly legit. I think I got mine from GSMcredits or something...

Thanks for the advice! That really helped me. I went to search over Ebay and found some interesting offers. And they are actually cheaper then the site i gave you link before!
Anyway, i think this is 100% legit, since this seller is very popular.
Ebay G1 code for unlock seller
Is this gonna work on Europe G1, that was bought in Austria from T-Mobile(doh)?

Calling T-Mobile only works if you are a current customer. If you aren't (and I assume that is the case) then find someone who is to call for you.

As long as they give you the correct code it will work on any G1, so you should be fine. That seller looks legit, due to the high rating too.

Thanks for the answer! I'm getting my G1 on Monday then!
Yay. I got my white G1 today and i bought a code of ebay from the guy mentioned few posts above. Payed 10€ and got the code within 15min. Phone is now unlocked and i can't be more satisfied! G1 is awesome
Sweet, I had to unlock mine the first week cuz tmobile gets bad service here. The first site you posted is where I got my code, so they are legit. And don't worry about rooting and flashing roms because it wont mess up your unlocked status.

Cool. Thanks for the info!
Just thought I'd add that I've (just) used the guy mentioned above (ebay profile link) to have my UK G1 unlocked and it worked just fine.
The code came within 10 minutes, tested and works OK.
Cheers,
Smiffy.
I recently bricked my G1 and looking for someone to de-brick it. I looked at getting the tools to do the de-bricking but they are quite expensive. If I have the tools, I can do it myself.
I followed the instruction for rooting my G1 and applied the death spl after applying the radio but for some reason, after applying the spl it rebooted and got stucked in the G1 screen. I can't boot into the bootload/fastboot (power+camera) mode or recovery mode (power+home).
So if anyone can help de-debrick my G1 for a fee or tell me a cheaper way of acquiring the parts for the j-tag method, I'd appreciate. Thanks

I have searched the web several hours before posting this. The only way to unbrick your phone from a hard-spl is through JTAG. For the benefit of the doubt, I have googled what you suggested and found nothing of substance.
Put the links here if you have any...

Badboy68 does not know what he is talking about.
I am sure by now you already know that you will need JTAG equipment. Look around locally for people who do PC and electronics repair, specifically even XBOX 360 repairs. They often possess some form of JTAG equipment that may work for your G1. However, I doubt they will know how to repair your G1, so maybe you can see if you can borrow it from them, for a fee. I recommend looking around Craigslist by searching "JTAG".

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look around for the JTAG on craigslist and PC/Electronic techs...
Just looking to buy this phone off of eBay, and I found a listing, but the individual mentions that the phone has "a white screen with lines that displays, and nothing else" after powering on.
Any one know if this could be a possible fix, or if it means that I should avoid it and tell the guy he should try getting a replacement phone?
Also, I've already messaged him about if he's attempted rooting it (not sure if that's possible yet) or done any modification to it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this!
Had to edit the topic title, I don't think it actually offered any insight as to what's going on previously.
Sounds like some kind of hardware fault and i'd say the guy is only selling it on ebay for parts.

Alright, thanks!
If it isn't stolen why not just take it and get verizon to replace?

I'd have to mail it to them - and wouldn't it be odd that they're getting a repair request from Canada?
Does anyone here think that the super LCD found in the HD7S will work with the HD7 (Tmous)? Looking at the part, the flex cable looks exactly the same, and also very similar to the HTC EVO "wide cable" LCD.
Just wondering if anyone has tried this, searching yielded no results.
EDIT: Found a thread that the poster claimed their replacement HD7 from T-Mobile had a super LCD in it. I guess it's time to gamble!
I doubt if u can get the full advantage of slcd. Coz its not just the lcd which do things, its also the software and hardware of the mobile along with the slcd does the trick.
send from my hd2 @ miui 1.12.2
Moved to HD7 Q&A as this is device specific

The story is that my SIM/SD-CARD board went due to water damage some 8 months or so ago.
I sent it to a distributor that supports HTC products but they said the N1 was not a product on their list.
I am thinking rather than having this brick that can't read SIM or SD-Cards, I would prefer it working and give it to my child. I know both the mic and phone listening points work.
So I am wondering if I can tell the HTC distributors to replace the SIM/SD-CARD board on my N1 with an HTC Desire one (which they support) at my own risk if it does not work? I know the phones have similarities. But is this board one of them?
In the meanwhile I am getting myself ready for a DIY by looking at ifixit.com.
edit - that must be some of the worst threat title work
