HELP with Rom Flash & Customisation(NETCF35.cab) - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Hello there.
I tried to flash my x1 using several ROMs (Jack's & Energy). The customisation processs seems to be stalled at "Installing NETCF35.cab". This is really frustrating as I tried different roms and previously I was able to flash with no problem.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.

Is this during UC or general customisation?

Thanks for the reply. It happens during general customisation. I finally figured the problem out. There is a legacy SDConfig.txt file inside my SD card, which is causing the problem. Very stupid mistake though

The SDConfig.txt on your storage card invokes the User Customisation, if the UC can't find the files pointed to in the SDConfig.txt the process gives an error and freezes your phone.

Solution found, modify/delete SDConfig.txt file

Radio v. 1.10.0

I have O2 XDA III (german), with radio rom v.1.10.0.
I've tried to find the way how to backup that rom and upload it to FTP. Can someone tell me how to do that. I've searched the wiki, but I didn't found the real solution.
Do I need to use XDArit or XDAtools? Can I do it under Win98, or I need WinXP/2000?
I have SD card and SD card reader.
I've described the process here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18128#98117
You can do this under Win98.

I've tried this and it doesn't work. When I press ok, I don't get terminal window. I've also tried this using COM2 (thats my modem) and it works fine, but with usb I don't get nothing
you should terminate Activesync before running MTTY. Kill processes wcescomm.exe and wcesmgr.exe with task manager and enter bootloader on your device (press and hold power+camera buttons and reset). The screen would write "serial ...", insert it into cradle, screen would write "USB ...". Run MTTY, select "usb" or "\\.\wcescom01" port and everything should work.
And don.t forget to do a backup, this will hard reset your device.
Thanks in advance for sharing your Radio! I've asked in any Forum, i know, but nobody seemed to cooperate. So it is great hearing somebody helps us.

The problem was in win98, in WinXP everything worked fine. So, this stuff doesn't work with win98. When I backuped it, I couldn't transfer the backup on my computer (ntrw transfers 256Mbytes and says that something is wrong with the image). I think the problem is that I have MMC card, not SD card. I should get SD card today, and I hope that everything will work then.
Hope the upload will work, just put it in the root dir, as you can not put it in any of the folders.
Curious to see if this further improves GSM/GPRS etc...cheers!
Can't wait to hear the feedback on the 1.10 radio. I was going to go 1.08 but seems like a waste when this one is so close.
Ok, HappyGoat, do you have the path you saved too for this magic Radio?
1.08 is nice, works fine. Of course I must upgrade for no reason other than insanity, hence Im looking for the file.
Thanks
Rich
Is it also possible to extract the whole ROM from your device, so that I can update my SPV M2000 with your O2 ROM?
Any news about this new radio rom?

The Radio 1.08.00 is available again on the ftp server. Have a look in the BlueAngel folder, it's in there.
Any progress on getting the radio 1.10.00 version...?
I've borrowed SD card from a friend, and I have to bring it back until saturday. So, I need some quick answers.
It is 256Mbyte SD card. I've done the procedure of backup like instructed. You can see my log in attachment.
After that I put the card in Transcend 7 in 1 card reader. I've used ntrw to backup the SD on my computer, but something is wrong. It creates 256MByte file on my computer. The picture of console window is in attachment. I did like I was instructed, and i've also tried "d2s" (to backup only WinCE) and all combinations (only Radio Rom etc.), but the result is the same.
Any suggestions? I really need to do this quickly.
Try this command in DOS:
Code:
C:\ntrw read XDAIIs.nb1 i:
Just might work, not sure. In either case, thanks alot for trying and sharing this with us...
No ideas?

DreamerNS,
it is normal that you get a 256MB file, because your card has this kind of size!
The ntrw tool makes a full copy of your SD card it don't know how much data on your card is stored.
So make a full backup of your XDA, zip the 256MB file and upload the file to the ftp site.
Greetings
osch

No. It is just filename, you can put anything you like there. it can be xdaIIs.nb1 or xdaIII.nb1 or IdontKnow.nb1 it doesnt change things, but thanks anyway.
It's too much for me to upload 256Mbytes. I have only dialup connection. Is there any way to extract radio rom from 256Mbyte file? If everything is allright, why is it says "ReadFile(): xdaIII.nb1 -- parameter is incorect"?
DreamerNS,
The unused bytes in the 256MB file will probably be zeros, and should compress to just a few kb.
Back in the days when mp3 FTP sites were all the rage (before P2P) I used to take advantage of highly compressable data like that. Sometimes you'd get a site where you'd have to upload a certain amount of MP3s before you could download. All you'd have to do is create a huge black .BMP file and rename it .mp3. Thanks to dial up modems automatic compression, you could upload a 10MB "mp3" in seconds! Hehehe

Going back to the problem, is I: the correct drive letter for your card reader's SD slot?

do we have a ROM in the ftp that i can flush to?

do we have a ROM in the ftp that i can flush to? thats working? just wondered if that could fix my storage folder missing problem.
a link to the directory would do it. thanks in advance!
we have lots, check wiki
i mean is with an SD Card..the following doesnt work:
O2 Asia xdaiisradio10200.zip
O2 Asia xdaiiscerom11262.zip
XDA 2s HK Eng 1.31
Would answer the question then of why they were never posted in wiki!
The radio 1.10.00 you can install as per wiki
Extneded roms you can get all applications and patches form those roms that have been cooked of wiki
The operator customization is in the kitchen on wiki
As for the 02 asian rom, well nobody has uploaded a ship.exe
that was quick.
thanks for the fast reply MDAIIIUser!
last question MDAIIIUser..do we have a solution for my Storage folder missing problem?(please!) this the problem why i wanna try to flash a ROM with an SD Card..
I dont like flashing from sd, to much work!
I still think the i-mate 162 rom of wiki is good, used it untill I had to reflash my device with all the passed Type I and Type II versions on wiki.
Then went with the 1.31 arabic and cooked my exteneded rom, added the 1.10 radio and the BT 3900.
Both of these roms work with the old tool.
ive almost tried all the ROM on the ftp..but still Storage Folder disappears after my first reset. ow yea on the my first boot i can see the storage folder and on the settings in memory i can also see the storage..its full..i guess thats one of the reason why im having this problem. any suggestions on why did this happend and afcorse a solution on how to fix this would be the nice.
thanks again MDAIIIUser!
Hmmm...first time I see this problem...
What is in the Storage Folder?
ow yea also the Extended_ROM doesnt load(ive tried all the unlock cabs doesnt work..and also flash manager errors! task manager error connection manager error all of the permanent save options..i guess cause windows cant save it or find the Storage Folder..and after first soft reset as ive said it disappears..
please anybody..there must be a solution on this?!
Looks like something is seriously messed up.
I suggest as a last resort to reinstall a complete new SHIP ROM that is closest to your original configuration...you can always upgrade later.
Look here to find the version you want and download it:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Upgrades
Upload the ROM to your PDA in the cradle, not via SD card. Hard reset and tell us if that is better...?
i have this problem for a long time now..so thats why ive almost tried all of them..can you imagine how much this problem is really been a pain for me? DAMN!
ow yea in order for my IIs to work..i figure the reason why i always hang is because some folders are missing..like the extended_ROM and storage folder so i made a folder with the same FileName..after ive created the Folders it almost instantly stabled(doesnt lag when i press a button or somthin) and files already in them. like on the Storage folder the PerSaveBackup Folder is instantly created.
so i guess my problem is why is it when i hardreset some folders that are really important for windows to function are missing on my phone? how can this happen?

ARGH! Extended rom access - can it be turned OFF...

... WITHOUT a hard reset?
I enabled it, and got a surprise - the Storage Card disappeared from the phone's idea of where it could put things! That immediately voided my custom ring tones and about half of my installed apps, plus I can't install anything NEW on the storage card (as the phone now sees the extended ROM as the only other place!)
Is this reversable or do I have to do a hard reset (and reload EVERYTHINg again!)
Try REMOVING the SD Card, then do a SOFT reset, then reinstert the card. Worked for me.
there is a file here somewhere that disables it again.

I've searched for this but unless you can give us an idea of what it's called or who posted it this could take a while. Anyone got more info than "it's here somewhere" ?
Hide Extended ROM again
What you are looking for, can be found in the WIKI-Pages!
The program is named EXTENDED ROM UNLOCKER and here is the link:
http://nah6.com/~itsme/cvs-xdadevtools/itsutils/extrom/
You can lock/unlock and unhide/hide the Extended ROM with this tool.
Hope this fits your expectations!
That's nice - its source. No compiler, no go.
Extended ROM UNLOCKER
Don´t know exactly where I found the download.
But the WIKI-pages have been the first station.
After grabbing my harddisk I can attach the file here.
The CAB-file has to be copied to the device and run. The links are placed under Programs/Extrom Tools.
If your folder is not ´Program Files´ (in Germany it´s called PROGRAMMME) you need to change the links or move the folder to the right place.
Sorry - but I didn´t proof the formerly mentioned link.
Or try this one I got from the WM2005 Upgrade forums...
Simplest solution....
Folks, it's only two registry keys.
Thanks to "Button" I have the answer:
To hide your Ext.Rom2 change these two keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001

is it editable? or does this just show it? cuz i'm sick of downgrading, editing the rom then upgrading, finding an error, downgrading-edit ext rom - upgrade bla bla bla!

poutlook.exe & tmail.exe not opening...

XDAers,
You see the title. I've search these keywords every which way and I've only found 2 post on it in other sections on this. One doesn't help, the other says the problem is that my attachments are on my SD card, but I've had it that way since I flashed.
So I ask you all, what could cause pocket outlook & sms/mms to not open at all?
ROM: NoThrills 3.14 WWE
Radio: 1.65.14.06
Am I alone in this endeavor?
Did you try a soft reset? , my device does this once in a while but that always fixes it.
You could also try memaid, just search google
The new version of pocket mechanic diagnoses outlook problems. Might be worth a try.
Same issue
I also have the same issue and when I taken that to dealer they just flashed the ROM. Again I am facing the same problem from yesterday but till now no luck...
Help much appreciated. I don't want to flash it once more.
i want to know why i lost my ability to change mms settings. i tried installing every version of arcsoft and tried extracting oem and still no luck.
It is probably due to SD card folder used for attachments getting corrupted which crashes tmail.exe (the messaging application) on startup. Rename/Delete the said folder on SD Card.

Same problem today. Deleting the attachment worked for me.

ADP builds of Android do not have TMobile apps such as Amazon MP3. This has been discussed ad nauseum if you had bothered to search.

It's a protected app. If you need it that bad that I suggest you go back to an RC build and do research before blindly flashing whatever build of Android is at the top of the forum.

If you still have the RC firmware you can just unzip it copy the amazon apk out and install it into the adp the amazon works. I dont think anyone has the IM app working though
We should have an official rc update from tmobile real soon, which will have amazon mp3, myfavs, etc...
Just open a RC33 update.zip and extract the file from /system/app. Then you can install it by adb push.
Verified as working. I just added it to the app folder of Dudes 1.1 build and then did the update and it works just great. Purchased and downloaded a song to verify.
Here it Is
http://droiddeveloper.com/com.amazon.mp3.zip
enjoy it works for me...
Really Bad,
In Germany it cannot charge my creditcard... It has enough money on it.
I have the dude's 1.5 version, and cant seem to get it running. It forces closed upon trying to open. Any thought? It is saved to my SD in the app folder.
TIA
Read my guide

TY SolemnWishing, this is how I got the app on my SD card to begin with - yours is a very helpful thread for a n00b like me. Unfortunately, I was never able to get the app to open. I am not sure how I could have messed it up - pretty simple, I navigate to the app folder on my SD and click the apk file which proceeds to install Amazon MP3. No go.
If you have any ideas on what the problem might be I would appreciate the input.
Thanks again for your great tutorial
Hmm... I assume you deleted the .zip and renamed it to .apk, what firmware are you using?
I am using firmware 1.5. Yes I renamed to apk. I wants to work, just force closes before it fully loads. I also have this problem with oi music player. It used to work, now no longer loads. I wonder if my SD card is the problem. It is 8 gb, but I am sure only like a class 2 card.
Strange. I have JF 1.5 and installed the Amazon app the normal way for any app on the G1 and have rebooted several times. The app still works. I thought if you did not push the app to the G1 it would need to be reinstalled each time you reboot the device?
Well, I am pretty positive it was my SD card - after writing my post this morning I pulled the SD card and have not been anble to get the phone back since. This thread pretty accuratly describes what is going on...long story short, i think I fried my SD card and as a result am stuck on Splash 2. I have wiped several times...

uggg...all for mp3's!!!! any thoughts and lots of luck would be appreciated.

Ahh I did the same thing. Here is what you need to do, you will need to force format it. Windows will NOT detect the card, and it may even freeze your computer. Put the phone into another device, such as a palm pilot or another cell phone and format it from there. It shouldn't take very long, and when it is completed, it will likely say the memory card only has 5Kb or so of memory on it. NOW insert the card into your computer and reformat it into a FAT32 format (+Ex2 for apps to SD) and you should be good! Of course, you will need to reload all your files though. That will fix your SD card. As for your phone... you will need to completely reflash a new firmware onto it, as right now starting up your phone is looking for items on your SD card which it may need, which no longer exist.
edit: if that doesn't work, completely start from the beginning by flashing the dreamimg.nbh file for rooting.
I was able to reformat the SD card, lost all my backups of course, and had to reflash dreaming.nbh and start from scratch. No biggy, at least i still have my phone.
thanks for all the tips...once i get my card re-partioned, I will try the Amazon.apk again.
K
I got it to load - thanks for all your help.
K
No problem at all, glad I could help.
