So, I went through the guide here to install HardSPL and a custom ROM (djkoa's 6.5) on my Tilt, mostly in preparation for wanting to give Android a shot.
It mostly went alright, I hit a snag with CID/SIM unlocking, in that I'm not sure whether it worked or not. The first time it ran it did some thing at least, popped up a program on my Tilt which I allowed to run, but I think there was an error or something, and since then attempts to re-run the unlocker just give me an "incompatible device" error.
But I considered it not worth much worry since I can't get a decent plan for this thing around here anyway. AT&T doesn't sell here, Sprint's too expensive, US cellular doesn't use SIMs, and I'm not sure T-Mobile's 3G is compatible with it anyway, unlocked or not. I just use it as a Wi-fi PDA basically.
What is worrying me though is that somewhere in the process I seem to have broken my 4GB SDHC card. Despite doing my best to follow the instructions in the guide on when to take out and put back the SD card, it got corrupted somehow in the process, with everything showing up as gibberish broken files that couldn't be removed.
I downloaded StorageTools, looking for a way to format the card without a card reader. I ran the Verify first and it did tell me there were errors, but rather than tell it to repair, I figured it be safer to just format the thing and start fresh.
So I formatted it, which took a while, but then when I went to copy over the android files, I got an error telling me the device was unavailable in the middle of copying one of the files.
So I decide to run another verify and repair, to make sure the install went OK. The same scan that had taken me a minute before took over an hour. It didn't throw up any errors, but since then everything I do with the SD card takes for goddamn ever.
Did I break my SD card somehow? Is the ROM/Radio(1.70.19.09) I'm using just have terrible/broken SD support?
How do I fix this, or do I just need to get another card?
OK, I seem to have solved my SD card issue. I think it was just a poor ROM, as I switched to another 6.1 ROM and now it runs fine.
I still have no idea if I successfully unlocked it though, nor do I know how to check.
Read the stickies.

Ok i have a problem.
i have a rooted sprint htc hero with modaco 1.1
i went to do a weekly nandroid backup and i restarted and after my phone says it no longer recognizes my sd or any sd card.
it says blank sd card when anything nothing is in the slot.
i can no longer go back to the sprint the sprint
does anyone know how i can get my phone back to normal so i can take it to sprint
thank you for helping
I inserted an NTFS card in mine the first time I tried to use it. Make absolutly sure that your card is Fat and NOT NTFS.
you can check it by (on windows) inserting the card into a reader and then right click the disc in my computer and looking at the Format:
ok i went to sprint a little while ago and took my rooted hero back and they took it to look at it no questions asked.
i will post back when i get it and what happens.
They'll usually take it back as long as you aren't running anything that requires root that is obvious. I wouldn't go in with a terminal open on the screen thats for sure.
ok got my phone back and its fixed
they didn't care that it was rooted h even made a joke about it
and that is another reason why i love sprint
SD cards are working again?
I had this G1 around and I want to root it. I'm currenting using my HD2, so this was sitting in the draw. Now I read alot of the threads on how to root it. First I believe you have to downgrade to RC29 build. The phone had DMD64. That may have been the first mistake. I read on The unlockr site that they had a procedure that may work with DMD64. TOO LATE!
I borrowed a sim card from a family member and went through the steps and had it at the point that the RC29 was in the phone. I never had a chance to finish rooting it, because I had to give back their sim. I used mine, and all I get is that the phone can't connect to the google servers, and E:can't open/cache/recovery/command" is at the top of the screen. I use my HD2 everyday, so the sim is good.
Since I can get into the bootloader and the recovery screen, I would think the phone is noy a brick yet. My sim card works fine in my HD2. I already flashed a custom rom in that.
I read the threads about rooting without a sim card and data plan, I think shouldn't have to, since I have a working sim.
The last thing I did try was the ALL-IN ONE-ROOTING KIT BY Abosutex3.
Is it the radio?
Recovery img not loaded?
Any help would be great. If not, I'll just toss it. I would like to see if I can fix it.
Thanks
This Bell I9000m that this wonderful place helped me figure out how to toss CM7 Nightly into Just had a melt down this past week I need to figure out if I'm boned or not.
I was pulling my media off the internal SD card with Teracopy the night before it all happened in usb mass storage mode and ever since the data was pulled. Icons on my desktop would only start displaying AndroidMarket like logo's and not launching anything. So i would reboot the phone to see if it was just acting silly and it would only get worse.
So I tried factory resetting and clearing all the cache's via CWM bootloader than load the OS to no avail the system simply stopped booting so I tried installing via zip the original nightly that I had left on the internal SD that was a signed release... The install didnt pass the signature check.
At this point I've just put trying on hold to come and ask around here. Am i screwed or am I just around the corner from having my damn phone back.... again .... I need ideas or solutions to this problem.
***UPDATE***
Bell has sent the phone back with the note on the file, "Replaced Major Component" I cant even begin to imagine what that means. Besides everything is apparently less broken? Although i was recording a meeting in full 720P and it decided to randomly stop recording at 47 minutes without any apparent reason.
If anyone reads this and comes up with any ideas as to what may be able to be done let me know please.
I'm trying EZOdin and easybase but the format does not like to work regardless of the PIT file i use it never seems to play well. But im guessing its probably a good idea to start fresh.
Try regular Odin and see what it says but if you internal SD is hooped it will still flash but it won't boot. You are trying the EZbase Froyo 3 part file with pit?
You could try a stock rom also but note you may need to add a DBdata file to the stock rom if you repartition as you need a db data file and it is not included in jl2 or kc1. I guess kies used the existing one from eclair and that is why it is not there.
It sounds like it could be a dying SD card (especially the heavy file use just before issues started). Have you ever had to replace your handset yet?
G
Bell has had my phone for service twice the first time they charged me 60$ for some reason and the second time they did not.
But both times they just reloaded the phone and returned it to me even though both times were similar problems its like they're just trying to avoid having to deal with giving me a replacement.
Hello everyone, i just got the nexus one just to mess around with, its already rooted but no rom installed. My problem is that when I put my SD card in the phone and boot up the phone I get the message "SD card blank or has unsupported file system". I know theres threads on the topic but they seem not to work, I've also reformatted thesd card and nothing. Its a 32gb
Not sure of the brand, ill look and post it.
Try using a program like sdformatter and did you format to FAT32?
Try a different sd card to see if maybe it's the card itself that's bad
Yeah I tried sdformatter, yeah I tried formatting to Fat32, no the SD isn't bad,the computer recognizes it. Idk what's wrong
with sdformatter did you use full erase and size adjustment ON
i am not sure but a card may be able to be recognized and still can't be formatted or may be bad--again, not sure
Yeah I tried full erase but not with size adjustment on though, ill give it a try though. I know the SD card isnt bad because after trying to have the nexus read it, and I get the blank SD card error, I plug it into my computer and it will automatically ask me if I want to format the SD card because its corrupt, after I select yes the computer reads it just fine. I think it just might be the phone itself, I've tried countless solutions people have posted in other threads, and the phone is what, about 2 years old, it just might be slowly dying
understand--good luck

Does N1 support 32 gb cards?
The N1 does support 32gb SD cards, I've gotten lucky and it read it, but after booting the phone up again I got the same message in the status bar, I think the problem might be with the rom on phone I don't know what rom its running but it looks like its a completely stock rom, or it could be the way the way the person rooted the phone, and I don't have a clue on how to unroot the phone. Yes I know its rooted I'm able to get superuser permissions.
you didn't say, unless i missed it, did you try another card
if so, and it is rooted can you tell what recovery is on phone clockwork or amonra
Sorry about that, yeah I tried and still am trying a 4gb SD card, I didn't root the phone, but when I got the memory card to work I flashed clockworkmod, I was going to reboot into recovey but when I pressed powered button I could only power off the phone, so I did and was going to boot into recovery through hboot, but when I selected recovery it just showed the picture of the android with the black background, so I rebooted the phone and kept on getting the error message, idk what I did to get the phone to read the SD card, I guess just luck.
Do you have the android sdk installed on pc do fastboot flash amonra 2.2.1 or maybe clockwork has that option. If it it the first time you may need to delete a couple files to have amonra stick. Clockwork 3+ did have some issues for some. Or you can check wiki and flash the correct passimg and go back to stock and start over. If you have means back up what you can. Not sure of your problem--sorry
Well it looks like the N1 is done, it won't even boot any more, looks like I'll be phone less for a while...the problem wasn't because it was rooted, I got it unrooted back on 2.2.1 then it updated to 2.3.? And it still had the sd card problem, I guess it was a sign that the phone was dying...r.i.p. n1 lol
Thank you ruggmankc for trying to help save my n1
sorry to hear that--
bright side is great phones are coming out this year and N1's can be bought at good prices if interested

i snuck my post in ahead of yours--but you are welcome--
Basically anything I can make calls and text on will do until I can afford and high end android phone
good luck on it--
I recently bought a HD7 in pretty bad shape, with no SIM or SD card reader, and lots of cracks and scratches as a project, after a bit of work and a few replacement parts, its working perfectly apart from the fact it wont get signal at all.
During fixing it i had to put a SD card in it because there wasnt one in it before, i followed all the steps in a guide for upgrading the SD card and it works fine for storage but bootloader says 'SD Unknown 12'
The SD card is a 16GB class 6 card.
Hardware wise i dont see what could be causing the signal issues so im trying to flash an RUU to see if that helps at all, BUT the RUU keeps giving an Error message saying File Write Error. And when i look at any details about the phone in bootloader or 'about' in settings the only thing i see out of place is the SD card details saying SD Unknown 12 in the bootloader.
Could this SD Unknown message be causing my RUU issues?
And how do i sort this out if its going to cause any issues aswell as this?
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated

I would say it's a possibility that one problem is causing the other. So eliminate one problem at a time.
Is the SD card new? Depending on the brand of card, like Samsung it could be locked... If the card came out of a WP7 device then it's probably locked too! WP7 devices seem to lock the cards and will only work in the device it was originally installed in, until its unlocked and wiped clean. Which can be done with a HD7, XBmod rom with cab, cab sender... but you can't flash, so you would need a Nokia device, Symbian or it can possibly be done on a pc, but would take some work and digging to get that figured out!
File write error usually indicates that remote access control has failed and to check the ActiveSync connection and try running RUU again.
Try unistalling and reinstalling ActiveSync and drivers or try a different pc completely! I had to use a different pc to get my HD7 to connect properly and run the RUUwrapper.

One other thing I would suggest too is... if replacing the SD card and your buying a new one, you might as well upgrade it to the 32gb for the extra memory. I just did mine yesterday and it seems to be faster and more responsive now too!
Thanks for the suggestions, I can't get ActiveSync to work so im going to try it in a virtual machine on XP to see if that works, the SD card is definitely locked because I can't access it through my card reader, might just try downgrade the bootloader and install RSPL and flash a new radio or nbh from the RUU. Hopefuly they won't conflict with the SD Unknown. I don't see why it should but time will tell. Just got to wait for a Y cable now. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah I had nothing but problems with ActiveSync on my laptop! I spent half a day trying to get the RUUwrapper to work. I switched to anoher laptop that I never hooked my HD7 too and it didn't even have Zune installed on it... within 20 mins I flashed HSPL and Deepshining!
Yeah goldcard/ Y cable should work for you.
I'm not sure why but I don't think it will work on a virtual machine. You can try it and if it does then great, if not then try it on a regular OS.
