Genuine HTC battery? - HD2 Accessories

Hi there,
I got my battery I ordered from a dealer on Ebay, supposed to be an original HTC battery. I'm not so sure though, and some other opinions would be appreciated. Attached are pics of the battery I got with my phone, and the battery I got off Ebay. The Ebay battery isn't as smooth as my original - lumpy on both sides, anf the build quality isn't as good. Also, while it fits ok in my phone, it rubs against the top edge of the battery spot when i put it in.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
David

Just two more pics for detail comparison.
David

Nobody have any opinions as to whether the new battery is fake or not? Sigh...

can you provide the link of the seller?
if the batteries he sells are of the same serial no. then it is a fake/imitation.

Here's the seller:
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/24_battery/
They've got several other HD2 batteries on sale, but all with the same pic. The serial number on my battery matches the pictures shown. ANy ideas?

Looking at several other batteries listed on Ebay, they all seem to share the same serial number as the one on the battery I received.

Lokking at those pics. I would say there one imitation of the original. Must be careful of ebay seller from China. I had quite a few thing off ebay. Even though they work. They did not last as long as the original.

DO you think I might have a case for claiming back my money? I did buy it under the assumption that it was a genuine battery, and given that it probably isn't, doesn't that constitute false advertising?

How much did you pay for it?

NOt that much - $8 if I remember right... To be honest, not worried so much about the money, more about others buying the battery under the same false pretenses as I did.

well i think its kind of common sense...
i would never buy a battery that is sold from htc around £35, $8 from a seller in china through ebay and expect to be the real deal....
or at least i would mail the seller to clarify if indeed the case is the original one and not one that looks like the original..
sometimes these people can hide behind words so u have to be careful and if sometimes something just doesnt feel right.. ask!
PS two famous quotations which i believe are very true.
"If something seems too good to be true, it probably isnt true!"
"you get what u paid for..."
Im sorry that this happened to you and i know it not about the money.
i get really pissed with sellers like this guy that are playing with our intelligence..

EDIT: Found one although expensive http://ucables.com/ref/BATTERY-COVER-SE-X1-P-R89657
have you check with sony support about a battery cover? or is it just that expensive. i dont think you will find anyone making a battery cover other than sony for the x1. i could be wrong tho.
if you cover is that badly scratched, why not just sand it, leave the metal bare or paint it. put a cover on it and it will not be noticeable.

How about I give you my account number and you can withdraw the money yourself . Get real.
My cover got scratched from using a PDAIR case that is leather on the inside as well. It started taking the paint off the edges. Hopefully somebody finds something for less than 40$, which is a little ridiculous.
@megacrazy,
I agree w/ you. Maybe on that ebay listing put a offer in. Ive bought from that seller before and Ive put in $7-$15 cheaper than what his asking prices is and he's has accepted everytime. Its worth a try...worst case senerio is he say no. But i definitely agree w/ you $40 is alittle steep.

costs to replace housing

Does anyone know how much HTC UK charge to replace the housing (not the screen or battery cover) of a HD2?
I would like to get mine changed but HTC UK want me to send in the phone before they will give an price!
Ouch! I hope you like the results... I'm curious about the price of that too. It's a bit early, but you might find a parts-only phone with a smashed screen or something and a suitable body.

Do a google search before you buy there. I've read they sell cheap/poor quality stuff.
Looking too now. Mine has developed a crack that has spread from the battery slot to the edge of the screen.
i rang htc uk last friday asking about this. they said they could pick up the device next day. repair time would be 10 days. cost to replace all plastics (by this i assume they mean the main housing/battery cover. possibly the main body of the phone as well) £65. probably best to call them yourself to check that price. they said they would be in touch to let me know the price when the damage had been assessed by an engineer.
i didnt bother with this as my housing only has superficial damage so went looking for a good replacement. got one on order now. when it comes i'll post up a pic. check my thread for updates. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851273

Genuine HD2 housing backplate spare parts

thought id post up on here as i have done on the hd2 forum as to where people out of warranty, not under contract or not wanting to risk some of the crap on ebay can find genuine spare parts for this phone?
i myself would like a battery cover and rear housing but cannot find anywhere that will sell one. are phone companies just making phones now and not parts to go with them and leaving it up to 3rd parties to make knock off goods?
others threads where people have tried htc directly have been unsuccessful. my provider doesnt want to help and i dont want to part with hard earned cash for ebay items or similar as they all say they are genuine items but have subtle differences each time.
anyone help?

I bought a replacement battery cover here: http://www.netimes.com/shop/original-htc-hd2-battery-cover-p-2564.html?cPath=80_731
It appeared to be a genuine part and worked well.
You can find the housing parts here:

Note that they also sell the battery cover but slightly dearer, the reason why I didn't purchase from them. However, I have purchased other products from them in the past and they are trustworthy.

Where to buy genuine HTC HD2 battery?

Anyone have any idea where I can order the genuine battery for the HD2? My stock battery is dying and it would be awesome if I can get a brand new one that performs well. So far, I ordered two of those Chinese imitation batteries from two different sellers and they have the same serial number haha. They don't hold nearly as much charge as they should. Any suggestions?

Hate to quote myself but this link is valid. I ordered one the other day and it arrived today. It does have the HTC branding and is the exact same battery (P/N also) as my HD2 battery.
A reviewer on the site said they got one without the branding. I read that after I had ordered. Doh! But I got a genuine battery.

is the mould 100% same on this battery & the wrapping cut & folded the same.
Also look at print for matching size & quality.
Most batteries at that price will not be original but if lucky it will be quite good battery in a HTC copy wrapper.
Another way to tell is get other buyers to forward the serial of battery, copies only have a few differing serials at best & normally just one.

Haha... now I'm worried about copy wrappers.
Original battery on the left and new one from Amazon link on the right. (I'm pretty sure... could have gotten them backwards). I'll go dig around for their serial numbers online and see what I find.
Hard to tell from that image. compare moulding on edges & how wrapper is folded around. Also look at water label & contacts. Original battery contacts are quality copper & look a bit satin if look at an angle but look shiny when view straight, copy batteries normally have a cheaper coated contact which is shiny at all viewing angles.
If it performs ok & charges without getting over hot don't worry about it too much.

They look exactly identical in every single aspect. So much so that I wouldn't know which was the originial if I hadn't taken a pic. No heat issues and I've been abusing the Netflix app testing both batteries.

You got a battery with the correct markings; at that price point, it is almost certainly a Chinese relacement. Be sure and report back after three charge cycles with the measured capacity.

We usually get what we pay for... so I wouldn't bet against you. I do plan on testing it under my normal usage after a few charge cycles and see how it does. I'm a medium to heavy user of batteries.
Just found that on ebay Germany, it has overheat protection aswell the CE quality sign.

I'm a little leary; the photo says 1500, but the description says 1300...
Original batteries are heavier than these cheap rip-offs. They use the copy wrapper to mask their lesser capacity.
Some copy HTC batteries will be same weight or even heavier.
I have a fake HTC battery that I picked up for my Touch Pro, slightly heavier & performs as good as original but probably not for as long as original cell.
problem with copies is quality goes from trash to almost on par with original but with not much way of telling what you are going to get.
I went for a compact USB power pack as got bored of looking at fake HTC batteries & official HTC retail outlet prices can be ridiculous, plus swapping, booting & charging 2 cells is a pain at times.

Replacement Parts for Back Cover

In a nutshell I have this today:
It's my first day with my phone. I cannot use any case because in my country (Turkey) it's impossible to find any cases. I bought some but they will be delivered at least 1 month ago.
So is there any-where to find a replacement part for my back cover? I asked it to Oneplus itself but they told me that they don't sell spare parts. I looked into ebay but there's not any of it.
I know it's not a big thing but I have a big OCD problem. And it looks like a disaster to me.
ANy help will be appreciated.
I've seen many parts on eBay for OnePlus 3 but no replacement back cover yet. They have everything else though like front glass, vibration motor, battery, antenna, speaker, camera cable.

Ouch, I feel your pain dude.. I would suggest maybe covering it up with a skin for the time being and when they do start making replacement backings eventually, get one then..
two months ago, seen at Aliexpress, price was around 70$, but now item is not available. Just contact with CS and ask how much they will charge for back housing replacement at RMA.

Try one of these in the meanwhile. I'm sure you'll find a combination that suits your style!

Im sure trying to replace it on your own will cause more damage to the device because you can mess up adhesives, screen, other internals & etc
And when they say they dont sell parts it means you will endup with a cheaper manufactured backcover that is not even original. Just keep the device as it is those two dots shouldnt bother you
I'll bough 2 original cases. I think it will be ok when I get them.
By the way on the teardown videos of OnePLus 3 it looks pretty easy to remove the back cover. No adhesive or something. Just removing the bottom screws will do the job.
Man, i had the absolute same problem. When i unpacked my OP3, the charger fell out of the xox and hit the phone on the absolute same place on the bezel
I sold mine on ebay the other day and ordered a new one.
it's really simple to disassemble op3. two screws, and back cover is removed. no glue, ect.

I know I'm late here but how do you guys suggest it would be possible to produce fake back housings at the price they are charging for them? I mean how many people would realistically buy parts exclusively made for one device, and an oneplus 3 at that? A few thousand people at most? If this is the case I don't think it would be financially viable to make any sort of production line for these parts. Aside from stealing original ones from the factory, or mabye defective ones I don't see how they would produce such a limited quantity for so cheap unless they are originals? Any insight?
There are many options for the back cover. The back on my Oneplus 3 was damaged but not as bad as yours. I was planning to replace my back but all i had was a tiny scratch so it wasn't worth it. I will change it when my back is really messed up. When you search for the cover on ebay just search for battery cover You can tell most fakes as they don't have the oneplus logo and for a different colour, try to get one with the sim card tray. Try to get a cover near Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangdong that's where the Oneplus headquaters is. There's also a midnight black cover as well!
