Hi, I have recently acquired (mid Sept. 2007) a TyTN II device: really a very good and nice device ... till yesterday.
Maybe my experience could be shared with some of you...
Yesterday my device suddenly turned off apparently because battery very low (i.e. less than 5% according to the manual): this is strange because as far as I remember my battery was charged enough to survive more than one day considering that I did not use Wifi/Bluetooth or many phone calls.
By the way, the problem occurred when I attempted to recharge the device: it spent hours under recharge but the power led never become green, but remained orange. I attempted anyway to startup the device, but as soon as the Windows OS started it automatically shutdown because battery too low was detected.
I performed several software reset and finally an hardware reset, while attempting also to recharge it also via USB but without any positive effect.
I contacted HTC which suggested me ... to provide back the device most likely for being replaced according to the DOA (Dead On Arrival) policy.
Please note that according to some tests I performed on the battery, this seems to be charged and the problem relying on the device or OS which do not recognize it as charged but so low that no operations are permitted.
Has some one experienced a similar issue with this new HTC device ?

GF's 8125 did almost the same thing; wouldnt charge past 10% and kept sending notification after notification; this was literally right out of the box. Cingular/AT&T suspected the battery but replaced the 8125 as well.
So far I have not seen other reports of this for TyTn II. It is however a reasonably common problem with many different brands of phone.

Could be a Power managment issue its not uncommen at all. things go wrong in all electronic devices think of the millions of Kaisers that will be sold in the coming months a few are bound to messed up from the factory. Its like buying a car you know ****s guna happen but you buy it anyway since it looks really nice that first day!

Make your kaiser power off, and use wallcharger. If it still doesn't work, call for HTC..
Some problems are solved by letting the internal battery drain, by leaving the device without the battery for a couple of days.
That issue can happen if you (almost) run out of battery.
Best practice: NEVER EVER run down your battery below 5% ! As soon as it reach 10%, switch off if you dont have charger at that time.
You might go below 10%, but take the risk .... !
It is known to us that the new Windows Mobile 5.0 supports persistant memory (your data will not lost when the battery runs out 0%), but it does not say that you will not be able to charge the battery!

ey man, i followed the recommended procedure for the three firsts battery charges. First i plug the PDA and let charge at 100%, then i let the battery goes to 0% (yes, the PDA goes off, of course) and then plugin onto the wall charger, and let charge to the 100%, repeating this procedure three times.
I do this also with my previous PDA, Hermes. And no problem leting the PDA going to 0%...never see this problem before.
What is the supossed problem leting the battery goes to 0%?

Maybe this is not 100% the case, but as I said "best practice" ... something that it is better to follow to avoid this issue as you should read already that quite a lot of people affected by this very low depleted battery.

The modaco thread talks about Wizard, i think it's not 100% the same as Kaiser, cause is not the same battery, and the hard charge interface on the PDA can be different. I'm going to make a deep research about model and manufacturer for the Kaiser Battery, to see what can be the issue.
Anyway, i let my Kaiser goes 0% three times and charge fine for the three times. So i beleave the issue is not related with the battery itself. Can be the charger? don't know...
What is the model and manufacturer for your Kaiser battery, please?
Mine is Samsung model KAIS160.
Just checked and I have the same battery, SAMSUNG KAIS160.
I have now seen another report on another forum with this problem (Kaiser). I suggested the standard method as used when the refusing to charge issue arose with the Hermes (TyTn).
(It worked by the way!)
i.e.
1
Remove the battery for half an hour or so
2
With the battery still removed connect and switch ON the official (1000mA) MAINS charger (Not other brands that deliver only 500mA)
3
Now insert the battery
4
Wait for up to 5 mins for the Red LED to change to Orange
Repeat steps 3 and 4 if you have no success after waiting for a reasonable time.
(If that fails then elsewhere I have reported the technique of delivering a charge to the battery using a couple of AA batteries)
My view for what it's worth:
Although in rare cases there may be a faulty battery, in the main the problem is not caused by the battery. The likely explanation is that the circuit that detects the battery's presence, fails to detect the battery when the battery charge is very low. In other words there is no problem with battery but the battery charge detection circuit is either frozen or does not switch on when the battery charge is too low.
This issue I see reported across many brands of phone and is not a WM specific problem.

Many thanks for the information, this confirms my suspects about the interface to the battery, and not the battery itself... i see this issue time ago with one Nokia 6100, and solve it with the same procedure you write. Sometimes LiIon battery gain some charge if you place in the refrigerator for a while (cool helps LiIon batterys, and warm hurts).

Seems there is no need to make three charge/discharge cycle before use the LiIon battery. Simply you can use and charge in any moment. Really is better sorts and many charges rather than less and longs charges/discharges.

Well the USB did the trick.
Don't forget the Red Wire is the + (Positive)
and
the black Wire is the - (Negative).
A few minutes holding in place did the trick.

what USB trick? what wires, and where do you put them in the phone? thanks!
nevermind, just tried it and it definitely charged the phone, but when i then plugged it into the charger it the battery just decreased like before

Hello,
Take a USB cable (the one like you use to sync your pda) cut it in the middle, expose the wires inside.
The red wire (+) is to be attached to the PLUS of the battery, and the balck wire (-) is to be attached to the minus of the battery.
About one minute and fater re-install the battery and try charging again, this should do the trick.
You can also use 2 AA batteries in the same manner.

just happened to mine after only a month. Contacted att and the forum and had to get it replaced. So far nothing wrong with this one!

Had my Kaiser sent to a lab, they are checking it but they are saying it is a faulty board.
The battery is ok although I bought a new one and tested it to find still the same problem.

battery is Full, yet PDA not working

I have Himalaya Pocket-PC, and since few days, it stopped working although the battery is full, when connected to charger, it starts showing 100% and charging... yet when disconnected from AC charger, it shots down..
I measured the voltage of the battery, was around 4volts..
I even discharged one battery, when installed to PDA, it showed 0% and charging, but it is not charging...
I have 3 batteries, all new...
can anyone help me, or guide me on how to solve this matter.

How can I know that, I have WMv6.5 and with only main battery indicator, the backup battery does not have an indicator..

I have searched the Internet and forums for days and can't find a solution to my problem. I have found a few with the same problem, but no solutions. Please help!
I have a Sprint HTC Touch Diamond 6950SP (DIAM500) running the original ROM. A few months ago and for no apparent reason, it stopped recognizing the battery and stopped accepting a charge. I haven't messed with the phone in any way or attempted to load a new ROM. The Power Status screen simply shows, "Main battery: Unknown". Plugging the phone in with the supplied charger will actually discharge the battery and the circular LED does not come on. I tried several soft and hard resets; then I downloaded and flashed the ROM with the one from the Sprint web site (WM 6.1 Professional 5.2.20764/Build 20764.1.4.3), but nothing seemed to help. I found that I could get the battery to charge by removing the battery (with the phone plugged into the charger) and then putting it back in. When the circular LED flashes twice, I remove the battery and wait till it flashes two more times, and then put the battery back in. This takes many attempts, and eventually the LED continues to flash and will charge the battery. I did this for a long time while I searched for a solution, and one day, it just started working again!!! The phone worked great for several months and suddenly, it has started doing the same thing again.
I decided to upgrade to WM 6.5 and downloaded all the necessary applications, (many thanks to XDA and friends). But, when I attempted to flash my ROM, it stopped and indicated that my battery was too weak - even though I new it had a full charge, (see battery status, above). I've checked the battery with a multimeter, therefore, I know it has a full charge. I don't have any other problems with the phone, nor do I have any problems with it sincing to my computer. I have since ordered a new battery, but it hasn't arrived yet. Someone please help.

I have read at other posts that the Diamond's battery has a recognition chip in it. Also, without the battery, it will not run from the charger. Could the chip in the battery be bad? Has anyone else had this problem?
Is there a registry fix (or tweak) for the battery status? Please, one of you must know something about this.
Got my new battery - the phone does not power up, charge or anything else with the new battery. I tried charging the new battery with the method I've tried before, (see above), but it won't even light the circular LED. I checked the new battery with a multimeter, and it shows it has 3.7 volts. that happened to me for a little while. idont know what it was but it wouldnt charge using the usb cable to any computer or even the a/c adapter but it would charge with another wall charger i had. after a couple days a friend had his psp over and i charged my phone with his cable on my computer like nothing and after wards it all worked again

I have tried other cables and chargers, but none have helped. Last time my phone started working properly, I had plugged it in to my computer, but that hasn't happened this time. Thanx for your comments - keep 'em coming.
I purchased a new charger/docking station for my phone and spare battery. It wouldn't charge my phone or the new battery I purchased either. The new battery still will not work in my phone - paper weight! The charger does charge my old battery, though. Does anyone know if you can run a Touch Diamond from the USB/charging cable without the battery installed? Mine won't, but I was wondering if it should.

you know that happend to me when i first flashed my diamond for metro i bought a new battery and nuthing changed so what i did was a hard reset and it fixed it for me but i dont know thats just me and if u want to try it make sure u back up ur contacts with PIM backup hope u fixe it

I had the same problem.. I ended up buying a new battery and it wouldn't charge in my phone. So I ordered an external charger from EBAY for 10$. My new battery is charging so It might be the solution you are looking for.

It's Fixed!!!
I wrote the Internet store where I purchased the non-working battery. They sent me another battery and now it's fixed!!! The battery indicator and status all recognize the new battery! Apparently, there is a recognition chip in the battery; the original battery's chip's software became corrupted, and the other "new" battery's chip was blank. The original battery still works, (as long as I charge it with the external charger), and still has an unrecognized status in WM 6.1. Please pass this info on to others that have simular problems. Hey guys.I just got my Xperia X1 and I noticed that even if I charged my phone to 100% after I unplug the cable (I use my USB cable to charge it) that battery meter goes to 95% the second I unplug it.If I send a text or two it will go lower.By the end of the day it will be around 50-60% left.I tried looking for a fix about that but nothing came up.
Is that a common problem for the X1?BTW the phone is brand new and the battery is the original one that came with the phone.

First I think you must charge your (new?) battery at least ten times to get full capacity. Secondly I think I remember there's a way to calibrate the battery. Look in settings or even better the manual or perhaps best, search the forums.

also if you leave your xperia plugged in once it reaches 100% i believe it simply stops charging, so the moment you unplug it you "real" battery percentage!
No I am using a custom ROM.I always unpluged the phone when it says full next to the battery metter.

I think its a problem of usb charging. I get this problem when I charge my phone with usb. I havent had this problem on charger. Maybe you usb is a bit lower voltage, so the battery isnt fully charged, but its not charging anymore so the percentage is set to 100% and rapidly decreases after short usage.
I think if you use a charger and do charge your batter a few times full with charger, the memory effect should go away.
Just correcting lpgsk, it's not the voltage, but the electric current of the USB. If I'm not wrong the charger has a 500mA current.

My suggestion is, if you have to charge it on USB, you should charge it when its off. The charging current should he higher since part of the energy wont be used to keep mobile standby. Therefor it should be able to get more power to battery.
2nd option, buy USB mini Y-cable. It is 1 miniUSB -> 2 USB cable. So you put the other end to 2 USB slots for more power.

It must have been my memory who failed me this time. I can't find any way to calibrate battery either. Sorry for that!
Saw that you're running on a custom rom so I guess the phone is not brand new. Question raised is, how old is the battery?
Searched Ebay for whatever to my x2 and found the batteries (same in X1/X2) damn cheap (fakes or not). Why not buy a new battery and test?

Hey there.The phone was brand new when I got it.It came with the standard WM 6.5 I just installed a new ROM.I tried charging via the wall charger and it seems that the battery lasts WAY longer then charging throw the USB cable.

So I seem to have a strange problem; my phone seems to be unable to charge my battery beyond let's say 10%. For the first couple of minute when I charge the phone via a usb connection with my pc; it displays a battery filled about 5% accoumpanied by a yellow triangle and a black exclamation mark in the triangle. Then after some times of leaving it in the pc; it does show the original battery screen, a battery filled up to about 10% with five black/grey dots underneath it, and one-by-one these dots light up.
I am on a rooted xxla4 rom with the accompanying kernel..... (I can't perform a "wipe battery stats from this CWM version" and I would like to stay on this rom, because it at least a bit like the stock rom, since I don't know whether with this battery situation I will ever get enough battery to install the stock rom again with odin 3.04 )
**Originally I was a while on Asylum 10.1, but then I tried out Parandroid 2.99 beta and to improve the performance I installed Rhythum kernel, when I was a Asylum about two days ago and everthing still worked properly I had about 7 hours of battery life and my phone charged (with the wall charger) to about 100% in three hours. I can't imagine a battery to break within 72 hours and I also can't imagine Rhythum kernel or Parandroid to have caused this, but if I am wrong PLEASE CORRECT ME.

If i were you, i'd flash a kernel that supports remove battery stats and remove them.
If that doesn't work, you could try to flash your rom again, but this one is tricky...
because your phone doesn't charge further then 10%.
I don't know about the rom you said, but use a rom without aroma to be sure the least battery is drained...

Do a battery calibration using apps in the store, may be the 10% is 100%

Well, the 10%, regretfully isn't a 100%, because the phone kicks me out after about 5 minutes, because it says the battery is empty. I also can't use the battery calibration, because these apps say the phone isn't fully charged so they close.....
(flashing a kernel is possible, but because I can't get into the phone anymore; the battery now remains dead. It seems I am quite cornered now)
**But do you guys think this problem is purely battery related or do you think the phone itself is broken, I mean if just the battery is broken, I might just get a new one, but I don't want to buy a battery to find out the phone itself is actually broken....:crying:

I will need to buy one either way, since I don't own a spare battery and don't know anyone with a spare battery...
**Recently I tried to flash Asylum back on my Note, because it had a kernel which is able to remove the battery stats, but Mobile ODIN got stuck at about 12% of flashing the rom-> so now when I put the phone into the charger, it does not get beyond the picture of the battery with the loading sign within; does this mean the phone is broken? And are you still able to charge although the phone's UI does not show the battery is charging....(So does the battery still charge without the loading interface on the phone?)

Keep the charger plugged in with the phone off for a couple of hours. Download a good custom rom. Boot into recovery and most uab storage. Copy the rom on to your phone. Perform all wipes and installation the new rom.
The new battery comes with a little charge in it.

It is shipping to me; I hope this will resolve my problems (key will be whether the battery is already charged a bit, because I don't know if it will charge in my phone. Since I don't have a rom installed (mobile odin seems to have deleted my rom, but did not continue to install the new rom.....)) Fingers crossed!
(I also kept the charger in the phone some time, but it just does not want to charge; in the very few times I can enter download mode, I get the "can't download battery is too low" message)

There are external chargers which are pretty cheap. This will help in worst case scenario. Anyways good luck mate
New Battery just charges 3% in one hour
So I recieved my new battery, and flashed a new rom, but I seem to have an other strange problem; I let the phone charge for about an hour now, and the battery just went up by 3 percent. ->To put this in perspective the battery I previously had (which is apparantly broke now) charged to 100% from 0% in just 3 hours.....

This probably is a bad question, but I suppose it is better to ask than just to assume; does anyone know whether clearing my battery stats will improve the rate my phone charges my battery? I assume the phone remembers the battery stats taken from my previous battery, which might influence its usage of the new battery?
I don't think so as it's regarded useless clearing battery stats in recovery.. That's why it has been removed from the newer version of Cwm recoveries.

The same problems seems to also pop-up with this new battery, I suppose there is nothing else left to do except for sending the phone to the repair center.
->The phone does show something is plugged in, it does detect the usb cable connected to the wall charger which is consequently connected to the power output in the wall. The image it shows (BASED ON THE CHARGE LEFT IN THE BATTERY, so it does not show anything when the battery is empty) is a battery with a yellow triangle and a black exclamation mark inside the yellow triangle (the same icon I got with my old battery)
The battery also does not get hot neither does the phone in the slightest bit; and in my memory, before this problem occured, I remembered the phone getting at least a little bit more warm.
I suppose now all that probably remains is for the Samsung service center to either check the charging circuits and try to fix those OR replace the entire motherboard (which what I assume they will do). I just hope they are not going to make up some excuse about the garanty, because I have always treated my phone with the utmost care....
may be its just the USB module that needs changing.. Samsung should do it.
Well i also juat got a new battery this week. I went for the samsungs spare rather than the mugen extended or the gold battery.
My old battery got swollen and its because of my fault, i used to keep it on charge throuhout night to get 100% in the morning but i was surprised coz despite being in bad shape it was giving me a goos battery time. But after a discussion here on xda i got a new battery and i am happy now coz its giving me 30% more time plus i got extra power now

When you put your micro usb cable inside your note's usb port, does it wiggle? If so there is nothing else you can do, but to sent your phone to Samsung for warranty. They will fix the usb port and maybe even replace the motherboard. And remember don't wiggle aroubd your phone when it is on the charger or usb plug next time....
