Kaiser will not stop charging - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi all i'm new to the whole smartphone/ pocket pc scene and decided to buy a kaiser. However for some reason it constantly thinks it is charging when unplugged and not charging when plugged in. Also I cannot turn it off as soon as I do it turns itself back on. I have also hard reset it but that didn't work either. I have searched for people with similar problems but have found nothing. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Ty in advance.

I don't have the charging issue but mine turns itself back on too. I tried a solution using MemMaid and it didn't work. I've searched the forums too and found no solution.

Maybe it's a ghost.. . Sorry I couldn't hold that.
Back to topic,
Have you hard reset your device? as the fellow OP did. What rom are running? More info porfavor.
Cheers,

Hard Reset = Yes
ROM = 3.34.721.2 WWE
Radio = 1.70.19.09
Oli's HardSPL
It's got a problem with the front face buttons... It occasionally registers a center button press though I haven't pressed it. I can use the navigation/arrow buttons and it frees up the center button, but it's annoying.
No other issues. If I let it send itself into standby, it stays stood-by.

it seems you are using a WM6.1 ROM...am i correct?
if so, you are using the wrong hardspl...i have been using an htc hd2 for the last month and i'm already starting to forget the various versions and tips and tricks for the kaiser. i think you need hardspl 3.29 at least if you are using WM6.1...someone please correct me if i am wrong.

it was doing this before the hardspl install

ok, i see. still, you may run into other issues with a mismatched hspl.
regarding your ghost button presses, might be some dust/gunk/corrosion under the buttons that is causing the ghost button presses. also, might be a faulty main flex cable (the cable that connects the top half with the motherboard in the bottom half) because this cable takes the signals from the buttons in the top half to the motherboard.
finally, putting it into standby manually doesn't stick? but if the device is left to enter standby according to the timeout, it stays in standby? hmmmmm its hard to say but really seems to sound like a radio/hspl problem...but if the issue exists with stock ROM+radio+spl, then might be a faulty camera button. i remember reading somewhere here in the kaiser general forums that if the camera button is half pressed (like when you press to focus the camera), then putting the device to standby will wake up the device. so check the camera button for dust/gunk/corrosion also.

I'll check the buttons for crud.
In the meantime it's now:
WM6.1
ROM: 3.34.721.2 WWE
Radio: 1.70.19.09
HardSPL: 3.56
And it's still having the problem.

Same Problem on Vogue
Hey, I'm having the same problem on my vogue, this is killing the battery life and it only partly charges over night. Same issue, goes into charging state even after phone is unplugged from charger. I have multiple batteries I have tried this with and multiple chargers, so the problem is with the phone. I've also tried multiple android ROMs as well as WM6.1, same issue. PLEASE HELP

Looks like a software or a regedit is keeping it from doing so. Try resetting the device and see what happens.

I did a soft reset - nothing
I did a HARD RESET- nothing
I changed the rom - nothing , it still wakes up
This has nothing to do with ROM Dev. Moved to General
I don't have a clue what it is
Ok i have had this problem before. But it is when i put the phone in universal car cradle. It hits the camera button half way so when i put it to sleep, it wakes back up after about 3 seconds. Make sure none of the buttons are partially stuck.
Frank
yes , now it has no autofocus

UPDATE !!!!!
are you running igo8 in the background? Turning the phone off while running an *ahem* type of Igo8 may cause certain on/off issues...
I'm not running anything
Sorry bout the late reply. I work during the day so i didnt see this till now.
What i would suggest is turn on the camera and goto the settings. Make sure it asks for full press. Then attempt to take a picture, by half pressing the camera button, as this will make it auto focus. If the little broken square in middle of screen doesnt show, then it has something to do with your problem.
My problem wasnt an actual problem but rather an observation that i thought could help.
Ive just done a couple tests on my phone and the camera button is the only thing that causes this issue. I hold it half way as to not activate the camera and then turn the phone off to sleep, but after precisely 3 seconds, it wakes back up
Hope this helps you find it. As for solving it, i don't know. Possibly a few harder presses of the camera button???? Please, though, dont take what i am saying as Gospel as it may be something totally unrelated
Frank
i tried the thing with the setting for the full and half press and nothing , it was the same - the camera shoots ONLY WITH A FULL PRESS !
The good news is I took it for a repair
Hope u get it back soon with minimal repairs needed
Frank
more bad news - it turnd out that the camera button is realy stuck on auto focus but the realy bad thing is I CAN'T FIND A SPEAR CAMERA BUTTON
help me pleaseeee !!!!
I have this exact problem...press power button--3 seconds later phone back on again. Have flashed 6 different ROM's and it has not removed this issue. It is not any of my software because this remains before I add any of my software after a flash.....as per OP i am unable to do a hard reset.
I have done many searches on the forums and continually come up with the 10 second backlight fix....this is not the same issue.
If some of the senior members could please help I would greatly appreciate it.

Is my Diamond dead?

Hey everybody,
I was going out yesterday and I was in a bar when I tried turning on the screen of my Diamond, but nothing happened. I wasn't able to turn on the screen at all. So I pushed the soft-reset button, but again nothing seemed to happen. I didn't think too much of it, but this morning it still doesn't do antyhing. I managed to find out the following: it does seem to respond to volume keys being pressed; because I can hear the sounds and it will vibrate when I hold it down. The light thing seems dead, because it doesn't light up when I'm charging it. Also, I'm still able to set up ActiveSync connection and even flash different ROMS.
Any hints on what to do here? My device doesn't have ensurance or anything, and it was hard-SPL'd + SIM unlocked, so will guarantee cover this? (Device is not older than 6 months)
Kind regards,
ToxicWasted
Seems like a hardware problem, so you have to send it on guarantee but be sure to flash stock ROM and SPL back. If you need to use the screen of your phone try a program called My Mobiler.

Is my Kaiser dead?

Hi, recently my extUSB broke down, so I was unable to coonect anything. My friend changed the connector in proffesional way with IR gun. But now Kaiser won´t even boot up, no vibration on startup, only green LED is lit up.
I bought D2, but I am curious if there is any way to fix it.
Thanks in advance
What does your friend say?
What happens if, while holding down the camera button (on the same side as the power button but further down), you press the power button to power it on - do you get a stripy screen? If you do, you can poke the stylus into the reset hole to reset the device out of the bootloader screen. What did the friend have to say about it - personally I'd much rather have a TyTN II which boots and works fine except for a broken USB port (I presume it was working fine before the 'repair'), than one with a shiny new port that won't work at all.
Nothing happens it looks like it is absoluttely dead.
The USB port was faulty, that was reason, why I let it change.
Well, it is strange, but actually I am very satisfied with with D2, even more than with Kaiser...
Well I suppose you could always get an expert to look at it but if its motherboard is damaged (or there's other hardware damage), it may be more expensive to repair than it's worth. You could see what your local HTC people have to say about it.

Or you could sell it in the market section, plenty of people that would like to get a crack at fixing it or use it for parts.
Hi, I just encountered the very same issue. I know I'm ressurecting a very old thread, but I rather do this than creating a new one
I flashed my Kaiser with Android about two months back. Everything was quite stable, no hardware issues. Suddenly, it won't turn on.
When I plug a charger in the extUSB, the orange LED won't show up. And if I try to turn on the phone, the green LED shows up and stays solid. However, the short familiar vibration isn't there and also the screen remains black. Nothing was wrong with the USB port. I tried multiple chargers...

I realise you cant flash if it's not booting but if your battery has sufficient charge remaining (won't work if it's flat) it'd be worth trying a hard reset using the D pad key + stylus in the hole method (can be done at switch on time without needing a full boot).

How do you know that a fault hasn't now developed with it - I wouldn't rule that out at this stage. Have you tried a known good battery that is fully charged in the phone also is it the original charger you are trying (not all chargers with the same plug are compatible)? Are you able to get the bootloader screen to show and if so, what does it display?

No bootloader, no nothing - just black screen (there's not even a hint of backlight). I'll try a different battery today.
I tried using my old AC charger, my colleague's AC charger (for TouchPRO2), USB cable... the orange LED still doesn't come up.
What's the hardreset using Dpad key? I tried holding the power button + camera and also holding the two "context" keys (above explorer and messages buttons) and touching the reset button with the stylus.
I'll see whether a different battery will do the trick.
Thanks a lot for all your suggestions, guys! Much appreciated!

The context key one you mentioned is what I refer to as a D Pad hard reset. The one where you press the power button while already holding down the camera button is how to get into the boot loader - it's all explained in the Kaiser wiki. Sounds like another battery is definitely worth a shot - especially if you only have one (I have 3 for my Kaiser and on some days with heavy GPS use, I need all of them). What happened between it working and not working - what were you installing or doing with it?

I tried another (fully charged) battery from my gf's Kaiser today. No change. When I press the power button, the green LED shows up and stays solid (no blinking/flashing). Screen is black, no short vibration. I tried all sorts of hardresets and also tried to get into the bootloader. No luck.
Also, I took my multimeter and measured voltages on the charger, the battery and the pins in the phone where battery resides. Everything seemed to give a correct voltage. So it's really not a power issue
Thanks for all your help, but I'm afraid I have a total brick in my hand.
My Kaiser
Hi I have a HTC Kaiser I bought the first week it came out and it was f=ine for quite a while but 6 months ago it stopped working. It'll go to bootloader but won't flash. When trying to turn it on it'll go and just get stuck on the splash screen. I figured it was a battery because I'm very hard on my phones but I just got a replacement battery last week and all 3 of my batteries act the same way. I may have been trying to flsh went it went down it was a few months ago so I can't remember.
--- Other things to note
My Kaiser got wet and I had to have the usb port replaced and the dpad replaced. The usb acts fine but the middle dpad button does not work
The charging light will stay orange or green after I unplug the charger
After reading for the last week I think its either bricked or maybe has a bad hardspl on it?!?
Thanks in Advance for any help you guys may give.

Time for it to visit the same phone repair shop (or HTC) again for an assesment/possible repair if economically viable. If it's only recently got wet, you may be able to catch it before corrosion sets in and causes any damage but if it's not dryed out/cleaned quickly, the damage (from the resulting corrosion) will eventually show up (possibly in all the ways you've described).

Blue Angel restarts after loading Windows

The issue happend, when I tried to download news through the WIFI. After hour or so of downloading, when I pressed power button - device restarts. And loads w/o radio like the battery was off. It loads windows almost till the end, and then black screen. Again power button - and the same....
sorry, have you tried charging the device and resetting it through the little hole? running the battery empty or removing it causes the device to boot without radio the next time. you manually have to reset then.
Hello,
I also have problems alike. Blue Angel works fine on its "stand" on ac power. However when I'm taking "her" out for a walk, she frequently reboots without the radio (1.15). I also suspect something physical wrong with her (battery). How can I tell her battery has reached it's end of live? Is there a fix out there? She has been upgraded with WM6.5.3 28008 -=[D-Two]=- ENG (yes, even a NOOB like myself accomplished this thanks to the great "how to's" on this site!).
greetings,
peter
Well, I bought a new main battery. Worked for me.

Buttons Not Working and severe battery Drain

Hi hope someone can help. Over the weekend my TD2 started playing up. All of the hardware buttons apart from the on/off button have stopped working. I also notice that if I turn the screen off with a short tap of the on/off button, after a few seconds it comes back on again. All touch screen functions are ok. It also appears to be draining the battery very quickly, to the extent that fully charged at bedtime (no bluetooth or wifi on and a stable 3-4 bar signal) it will be comppletely drained by morning. As far as I am aware the phone has not gotten wet at all.
I have also re-installed the office HTC rom, which made no difference
Any ideas??
So you reinstalled the stock rom and did a hard reset?
You can try Tarkim's Keyboard controller and see if your hardware keys can be mapped to a different function.
That would help eliminate hardware vs software issues.
I have the same problem. Also my backlight keeps working and won't go off. Can't perform a hard reset because my volume buttons(and all other hardbuttons accept the on/off) aren't working.
Searched for the solution but can't find it anywhere. Who can help me?

Try clear storage app to HR.
Thanks for your reaction.
Yesterday I managed to put an official ROM on my phone.(latest from HTC site).
Problem only got worser. Phone gets complety stuck(directly after boot) in the volume screen. Sometimes its flashes back to the normal screen but only for 1 second. Buttons still aren't working so can't do anything with my phone right now( not even the hard reset methode you told me).
Started to think that this is really some hardware issue. Can't remember that water got in my phone or the phone felt really hard. Any solutions maybe?
Otherwise I think I just go to the store.

One last thing you can try is a Task29 explained here.
Use your official rom (right click on .exe and extract the RUU_Signed.nbh and place in task29 folder, then connect device in Bootloader mode and run the Task29.exe. Follow the instructions in the link.
