nope it randomly did it its self

First thing to try is Hard reset. Failing that flash another ROM. If it still happens then its a hardware fault.

had the same problem, but my screen was not absolutely dark, so i could go to settings and changed the setting for backlight two times and then it worked again.

If a hard reset doesn't work then it's probably an lcd failure. You can replace the lcd if you want. If you have the insurance from your carrier then you might just go that route.

Kaiser No Backlight

i have a tilt/kaiser. my third one. after about two months of using this one the backlight stopped coming on at all. everything works on the phone besides the backlight on the screen. i was thinking about buying a new lcd but i wanted to see if there were any other suggestions first. and i have flashed about 3 different roms to it but that is not the issue.
also it gets real hot in a matter of seconds after i turn it on...

Do you still have the "Backlight" icon in start/settings/>System tab?
i cant tell. all i can see when i turn the phone on is the att logo, and i can barely make that out with the glare. then all the sounds and lights work on the keyboard and the phones face but the backlight will not illuminate. do you think a hard reset would fix the problem. i mean could it have been something i installed?
yes the backlight can still be manipulated through system settings but it has no effect on the back light

If you've completed a hard reset, it's time to look at getting it repaired under warranty for free. Of course if non-approved spl/ROM/Radio are installed you should revert them first but this would be tricky if you can't really make out whats on the screen - then if you can see it enough to do a hard reset....

X1 Screen problem.

Anybody have this problem with the Screen:
Before doing HARD SPL, my X1 have a great screen, it's all dark when open a black picture. But after HARD SPL, my screen show some brighter pixels at the corners and another at the middle. These brighter pixels locate exactly the same at the colours of BOOTLOADER screen.
I report this problem because I have 2 X1 and after HARD SPL, both of them have the same screen trouble.
I don't know where the problem begins. Does anyone have the same? How to fix it?
No issue on my side - I'm using 0.72Olinex.
mine is also the same after i've hard reset a few times....when booting the upper left n right corner of the screen seems fader than the centre...
Well, when I do get these issues, a soft reset solved it for me.
No problems here. I'm using 0.72Olinex

Mine too have some brighter pixels in the corners (most brighter in top right corner). I don't know if this is a issue of Xperia because I've hard SPL my phone after 10 minutes I've got it.
Cheers!
Just do a software reset. Sometimes my screen flickers like crazy, a reset solved it.
Sooo, some users have this problem but no solution...trying to reset my X1

For me it doesn't work. This is how always the screen appear, not after a while. Since I've hard SPL my phone I've hard reseted and soft reseted the phone for many many times.

Flash back Stock SPL but the screen is still being this issue.
I've actually seen this issue with many TFT screens. They all look great in the beginning but after some use you notice the brighter colors around the edges. I don't think SPL affects this.
But that's just my experience/view on this.
i had allways brighter corners of my display... since i put my xperia out from the box... and i notice it only when screen is all black (movie begining, boot etc.)
same problem
same problem here.......i have top left and right corners more bright then rest of the screen......this problem is from the date i brought it and unboxed it..
so i want to know whether it is a hardware screen problem or software problem...
even i have done hardware reset as well as updated the firm ware by SEUS
since my phone is still under warranty...so i would like to know whether i should get the screen replaced or keep it as it is..
please reply asap!!!
Its not a fault of the screen, and its not a fault in the software its called backlight bleed. Most tft's have it some way or another.
Its because of the way a tft screen is lit, just google it.

I don't think it will be covered by warranty, its just a perk of the technology. You can try though, let us know how you get on

G1 Unresponsive - Requesting Help

My friends G1 is unresponsive whenever the screen is closed, but seems to work when sliding it open. The funny thing is, while the device doesn't perform any actions when the screen is closed, it still seems to be responding to touch. When the screen is opened again, your touched actions will "catch up" and the phone responds. This happens from recovery mode as well as in Android.
Can anyone help?

The phone is in standby/sleep mode while screen is off, so you cant use the touch screen. You must double tap Menu to get to the home screen. While in recovery mode you cant use the touch screen cause you have to use the hardware buttons or the trackball. Im guessing you were unaware that the phone goes into sleep mode. When you slide the KB the phone wakes from sleep mode and allows you to use it.You only have to slide it when you need it not just to do it randomly.
No no, sorry if I worded it incorrectly. The screen is on and it is frozen when the slider is closed. Once you open the keyboard, everything works fine. As soon as you slide it in, the screen freezes on its current display and stops updating.

What rom are you using?
If it is a hero rom then it doesnt work while in landscape mode so you cant open the KB while on home.
Its a 2.1 ROM by Kingx
The screen behaves the same in and out of android though...such as in the recovery (JFv1.4) console. If the screen is closed, the screen "freezes", but the frozen picture is still displayed. If you slide the screen ouţand expose the keyboard, it works fine. The phone otherwise operates normally, as does the standby mode.

You need to upgrade your recovery though
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669
Try wiping and reinstall the rom and wipe everything. Also you need a task manager cause you might have a billion apps open.
I'll try it on his phone when I get off work. Thanks for the recovery link. Do you prefer this over JF?

JF is super old and lacks many features from Amon_Ra. But it's based off of Cyan 1.4 recovery. It makes a lot of things easier like partitioning, wiping, backup, restoring roms.
Alright,
Home now with his phone. I swapped JF's recovery with RA. The issue still exists, and I'm wondering if it's hardware related...
This is frustrating. I don't know if I can fix it for him...
The problem seems to have gotten worse on its own. If the screen is closed at all, the screen will go black with a slight image shown with what seems to be an unworking backlight. However, upon sliding the keyboard open again, the backlight does not return until the device is rebooted while leaving the keyboard open.
Edit:
The backlight seems to come on sometimes when you slide the screen open...

You might wanna wipe and install another rom to see if the problem stays. There might be a hardware problem with your phone.
I've wiped and tried a couple of other ROMs but the issue persists. If it's a hardware issue, is there anything I can try to fix it?

It could be the ribbon that connects to the display. If you can find the assembly guide you could replace the broken or loose piece. But i'm not 100% on which part of the display needs to be replaced. You could ask someone at T-Mobile or at a electronics store what the problem is.HTC offers a free 2yr warranty so you might be able to get a replacement.
Bumping this to see if this was ever resolved. Having the same issue, and considering replacing it brand new, but wanted to know what exactly needs to be replaced so I can order it.

Dead Touch Screen??

Hello,
My Touch screen doesn't respond to touching since an hour ago.
I see no logical reason for this fault,
My screen is guarded and nothing happend to it.
I tried to remove battery and insert it with no luck, I booted my phone into CWM touch recovery, and it also doesn't recognize touching.
update2:
The problem appeared again.
just flash a kdz to return to stock rom

The problem appeared again I tried a lot of times to remove battery&insert but it doesn't help.
Please help me.
I've just flashed my phone to stock rom,
I'm still having the same touchscreen issues - the screen won't respond to touching.
Any suggestion please?
Is it possible that the touchscreen issue is caused because of the screen protector?

Screen protector protects screen If you have got stock FW back on the phone, just bring it to your carrier and they should do it on warranty.

Thanks for the advice,
I flashed stock rom and now when I turn on my phone It shows me the "Android Welcome Screen", Is there a method how to bypass this screen without touching the screen? (If I'm taking phone to my carrier, it might seem strange to them that my phone shows the "Welcome screen" whether the touchscreen doesn't work so they could know I flash my phone and not to accept my phone's warranty)

You can try on-screen phone, which is a software by LG, but i think, that this also needs to be setup first... Otherwise, just tell them, that you did a factory reset, because your phone wasnt working properly anymore, and thats when your error occured.
I dont see another way... Maybe repair it on your own

I'm going to take my phone back to carrier
But there's very strange thing: the touchscreen rarely works.
I removed the battery for a night and when I got up in the morning and I inserted the battery and turned the device on, for a few seconds the touch worked . What does it tell about phone?
I've just received my phone from repairing, and my touch screen has been replaced.
I'm a little disappointed because I expected for getting new phone(I have a warranty). I've also noticed that the screen is a little thicker, about few mm, which is weird.
Is it right that phone with replacement touch screen won't be as smooth and good as normal one, or not necessarily?
Same problem of Freezing screen
Disappointing but i too have this very same problem with my brother's P970... any ideas how or why?
though sometimes it would respond but leaving it a few minutes would again make it freeze. The hardware buttons work but the 4 touch buttons wont. now i cannot get thru the rom manager to make it into Bootloader mode so i can install another rom...
some things i did a few days before this happened:
1. flashed CWM recovery successfully.
2. installed a lot of apps and happened to fill up the SD card.
3. installed a new ROM Gingerbread Repackaged V20N
I can still get to S/W Upgrade but all I need is the Bootloader Mode. I honestly dont think this would be a digitizer malfunction since it works well in a given time. It's like it lagggggs much and unresponsive. I cannot get past the lock screen. Any ideas or any other way to get to the B/L mode? Thanks.

Shot in the dark here. If you're getting vibrations and response to touch, my best guess would be that the screen itself is damaged. May have to get a new panel for the device. I wouldn't THINK it would be software related, but for the sake of ruling things out, what software is the device running? Custom ROM? Stock build?
EDIT: It could be a simple thing like a loose or disconnected ribbon cable inside.
stock,
it actually happened after a reset (and shipping by USPS)

This is the phone where you hit factory reset, threw it in a box and shipped it while it was resetting?
Probably the screen was damaged in shipping.
