I have been trying to get my hometown, Olathe KS, to work in TNT.1437 but it will not allow me to update the weather and download data from accuweather.com but when I clicked the about weather link under Weather Options, Olathe KS is in their database. Does anyone know why I cannot use my hometown in the home plugin if my hometown is in their database?
All help will be appreciated and well received.
Thanks in advance, Dan.
You know, I had a similar issue using the Jaguar rom. Finally I had to completely modify the xml and add the keys in the registry. Then I had to reboot. It actually took me a few tries for it to take. I'm not sure if this helps you at all, but I wish you luck.
**Fresno, was NOT in the database...I had to write it. Perhaps your town needs to be re-written, maybe they entered the info wrong.
Maybe it's because I live in New England, where weather is all important, but I find the Weather tab on the Fuze to be totally lame. I'm used to running WeatherPanel on my Tilt. I'm looking for instant access to detailed current conditions, forecasts, temps, charts, and radar and satellite images that I can put in motion. All of which I had direct access to on my Today screen via WeatherPanel, which would update in the background. On the Fuze, I get a static picture and temp (which doesn't seem to update on its own), and a link to an AccuWeather web site that never loads any info for my location.
I've searched all over; is there any better weather functionality to be used with the Weather tab in TF3D? To I have to trash TF3D and go back to a Today screen to get better weather info?
Pocket Weather is probably the most advanced available. I live in New England as well and it is pretty good.

Will Pocket Weather work on the Fuze as a substitute under the Weather tab in TF3D? Or as an added tab? I looked at it and I came away with the impression its a Today screen plug-in, like WeatherPanel, and would not interface with TF3D on the Fuze.

I too, abandoned TouchFlo and went back to my SPB Plus and Shell, and SPB weather. It was cute having a windshield wiper in the rain, but I'd rather have function over being nice to look at. Hence, no iPhone.
So, I've been using SPB weather, doesn't do maps, but does do fairly accurate forecasting. And since I travel a lot it keeps many cities a few clicks away.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the page update automatically if you leave "data connect" on all the time? Mine seamed to always be updated whenever I looked at the tab with this setup.

That's what I was afraid of, there is no way to improve the functionality of the Weather tab. Which then leaves me facing the decision:if I'm not going to use TF3D to go back to Today screen with WeatherPanel plug-in, then will I return by Fuze and go back to my Tilt?
I don't know what you're talking about, i have my device set to update automatically and my weather updates regularly. You can make it update manually as well. SPB only shows the highs/lows for the day doesn't it?

SPB Weather
For the most part SPB does show hi's and low's and some detail on today and tomorrow, but no maps or anything like that, which is all I need when I am mobile. If I need a meterological lesson, I'll pop on the weather channel.
I just wish there was a way to access the "app" for the weather screen in the touch flo, b/c the weather feature was some nice eye candy. And your right most of the weather apps, built-in or 3rd party can update automatically.

www.weather.com saves a cookie so you get all that super crazy info as soon as the page loads up. Just a though.
I've got a persistent data connetion too, and usually as soon as i switch to one of the cities in the tf3d weather, it updates right then.
My issue is the cities, or lack of some. I'm in new brunswick, canada, and "fredericton, nb" is not listed, but 'moncton, nb' and 'saint john, nb' are. I saw a couple posts about adding new cities using some sql apps & db inserts - is that how this one is updated? the last weather app i used , had an xml file I could update with codes from accuweather.com.
has anyone updated their listed cities? if so, how involved was it?
tks,
dwight.

TF3D Diamond, Weather After Hard Reset
I have something different going on. Following a hard reset, my weather add-cities has changed. United States used to be at the top of the country list, and now it's clear down in the U's. Does the aforementioned database editor have anything to fix that? Otherwise, I don't need to edit anything, liking it as is. Thanks in advance!
Weather and CFNET 3.5
I had to get a new fuze due to a bad radio in the old one. I had the weather database and CFNET 3.5 installed on the old and working. However, on the new I have forgotten how to get the apps to use CFNET 3.5 and not the older version.
HELP ME.
I know I navigated to one of the apps and it was in a drop down but for the life of me I can not remember which one.
Thanks!

Install .Net Configuration. See attached cab below.
Once installed, go to the 'Device Policy' tab and select version 3.5. Select 'Apply' then 'OK'.
also you can use 2nd today you dont have to abandon tf3d entirely
Thanks!! I even had that on my memory card. Could not remember what it was. HOWEVER, I still get a message that "installation of weatherdatabaseEditor 1.2.CAB was unsuccessful. Any thoughts?

Are you running a custom ROM? How about custom theme? I've noticed that 1.2 sometimes has conflicts with these. Try 1.1 Modified instead.

it only update if you have wifi or data connection. It doesn't save any cache. I hate Manila Weather for this reason. It doesn't download a few hr in advance....
is it possible to change the tab to something else? like pocket weather?
I'm from Montreal
Don't have any custom rom. It is the stock ATT rom. I will try 1.1 and let you know.
I'm using touchflo and the people, weather, and programs tabs aren't working at all.
Just wondering if there's something I need to download to fix this, cause I've looked everywhere and can't even find anything on this issue.
The people tab just has the + Add boxes but they're all non-responsive, same with the programs tab
The weather tab shows Add Location, *Downloading weather forecast data may incur additional data transfer fees from your provider.
Add location, and Settings don't do anything, and About brings up a website which says it doesn't exist.
I'm not sure whether this is something I have to activate with my phone company or if there's something to fix this.
The weather works if I uninstall touchflo and use the default UI.
Bump, need help still please
I too am having this issue so its not just u. Hope someone can help us out.
Hey i read I tryed this and it worked fro me. I hard reset my whole phone and then re-installed everything using these instructions and everything worked fine. Hope it works for u also.

You want M2DC go to Internet tab and point to .exe of browser of choice.
so i recieved my viva today and so far i love it. but on the weather tab i cannot get it to pull up where i live. i got a city pretty close but not the exact one i want. am i missing something, i click add location type in city, state and hit select and i either get a random city or one i did not want. i tried zipcode but it failed too.
in which city/state do you live? So I can try in mine and let you know how it goes...
vine grove ky , or radcliff ky
Hey, the problem seems to be that the city is not in the database of the touchflo2d.
Actually neither Radcliff nor Vine Grove are in the accuwheater & HTC database.
What the application does is perform a query like this:
http://htc.accuweather.com/widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode=NAM|US|NY|NEW YORK
If the result is a nice, long xml then you will see the data in the wheather tab.
If you see
<weather>
<copyright>2009 AccuWeather, Inc All Rights Reserved.</copyright>
<usage>HTC Pocket PC Weather Forecast</usage>
</weather>
You wont
What you might want to do is replace the last parameters with some other combination of cities that might work. I have already tried
NAM|US|KY|VINE GROVE
NAM|US|KY|RADCLIFF
NAM|US|KY|FORT KNOX
NAM|US|KY|RADCLIFF
NAM|US|KY|IRVINGTON
Without luck... Please give it a try with some other cities (I just searched in wikipedia which cities are near you, I live in Argentina so you might probably have a better idea )
when you find a city with returns results, go to the windows folder in your phone and find the file: HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml
Copy it to your desktop, edit it and add a line like
<city name="Vine Grove, KY, US" loca="NAM|US|KY|VINE GROVE" land="United States"/>
(this one won't work, I have already tried that in my phone just to be sure, sorry).
Save it (is read only so you should change that before saving), and take it back to your phone.
Disable Touchflo from the Today settings, enable it again and that should be it
Best of luck!
ill give it a try tonight after work or maybe tomorrow before work. right now i got the city louisville on their. its not to far away lol
Cool, let me know how it goes!
Hi!
Bought an Omnia II for my wife over the weekend. She says she doesn't like the new widget home screen, and so she deactivated it and turned on the old Today Screen with appointments, tasks, etc.
She complained about the uber large fonts, and so I managed to access the original ctrlpnl (it's hidden on the omnia II), opened "Screen" and changed the font size.
Immediately after that, I installed rlToday and added a (nice) clock plug-in that I made for her.
She now complains that clicking the next appointment now launches the old calendar.exe, and claims that it used to open the tcalendar.exe (by samsung) before I "messed it up". Other Today messages now launches the default WM6 apps (tasks, messaging), and she says they used to launch the samsung equivalents.
A hard reset and format didn't fix this, and now I regret helping her out.
1. Can anyone help me to confirm that clicking on the "next appointment" on the today screen on the Omnia II launches the tcalendar and not the original WM6.1 calendar? (To disable widgets - go to settings/display/items on today, click menu\edit and deselect widgets.)
2. If so (and I did mess it up), I assume that I somehow triggered a change in registry. Any ideas to change it back?
Thanks in advance.
As for number 2 a hard reset would change any registry changes back to its factory default.
I fully agree that a hard reset will set back all changes on the device to factory settings!
However after the reset if you did again able the MS normal today screen then you will open the normal pocket outlook calendar if you click on the calendar plug-inn (it is dll file short cut for MS calendar)
I don’t have Omnia but I do believe in order to open the Samsung calendar from the today screen you need to able again Samsung UI.
BTW. I am also very interested on the omnia II/I800 would you mind to share your opinion for that device and may I ask how much did you pay for it??
Thanks for your comments - the thing is that after the hard reset (format - re-setup), the today screen launches the default calendar.exe (not tcalendar.exe as my wife said it did before I tinkered on it). My guess is that my wife couldn't have launched tcalendar.exe from the today screen - but she was adamant about it.
The Omnia II is well made - the camera is VERY smart - besides the 5Mpix and the LED light, it has auto panoramic mode, smile detection and even a name card reader (yes - OCR directly into contacts). Half-press autofocus is great - much faster in picture taking than my HTC Touch Diamond 2.
The interface is good - the UI design is a little gaudy for my taste. Haptic feedback is better (even during flick-and-scroll). The screen colours are VERY vibrant - so much that the red and greens look luminescent.
The phone is also crammed with everything you can squeeze - GPS, microSD slot, standar phones jack, camera button, G sensor, etc.
Strange stuff includes a missing original WM6.1 settings page. The samsung UI has most of the items, but not all (eg: screen). The file explorer replacement is nice, but does not implement cut, copy and paste. Rather, it forces you to "copy to..." and "move to...". On a good side, you can move and copy multiple files via checkbox multiselect page. "Paste as shortcut" is not available. No Dpad means some games don't work. The stylus (if you need it) is external like the Omnia (but built tougher like a mini marker).
Price is irrelevant as it is operator sponsored (in return for 2 year contract).
Anyone has an omnia II who can test it for me?
As this is an HTC devices only forum there will be a small amount of members answering, however if you look in off topic section there is a thread regarding samsung, perhaps there you´ll have more chances.
also you can go to winmodevs for non HTC devices
Good luck,

Can you elaborate on the "Next Appointment"?
On TouchWiz UI, it will go to Touch Calendar from the Today widget.
But if I go to Today settings, untick TouchWiz UI and tick Calendar, it will go to default calendar from the default Today screen.
Hope this helps.
cfhong, would you please share some your experience with Samsung omnia II. I was in love with the device but now I hear some bad comments which makes me little worried to buy as samsung has not much support as the HTC devices here in this forum (thanks)
do you know where we can download omnia2/pro rom
it would be really usuful in extracting the cool apps and skin for other WM devices

Yes!! This is exactly what I needed. About "Next Appointment", that's the string of text on the Today Screen that shows something like... "Tomorrow: Buy Groceries 9:00am-10:00am" Clicking on this test will open up the default Windows Mobile Calendar. I DIDN'T SCREW UP HER PDA!!
