Amidst the hype of Win7Mo, are we forgetting the 6.7 Build somewhere??
THe chances of using Win7Mo on X1 look slim, So i thought why not use the next best OS..
Also, can't we update the CE of X1...just asking, i don't know the technicality...

Circle': The general thought is that Microsoft has a two-tiered strategy: WM7 for the masses, but still supporting WM 6.x for business-type users. I suspect that we will continue to see WM 6.x and above ROMs leaked here. My guess is that MS will continue to polish the UI and increase finger friendliness.

@thread starter: I don't get your message. There wont be any cooked winMo 7 for x1, thats for sure. And right now we're not doing anything else than you suggested: using the most up to date wm 6.5 (6.6 - 6.7). What about it?

Supporting WM6.x does not mean continued development. Support in the sense that MS supported XP after Vista. <insert Vista Rant in another thread>
Let's consider Windows Mobile out to pasture. It was fun while it lasted, but now it's time to move on. If they could make WM any more modern they would have done so by now.

my guess is he eats microSDHC cards for breakfast...
Just an educated guess tho
I think itje do more job in one week, than all microsoft team (who creates windows mobile) in one month
A big respect for him.
LOL if I remember seeing correctly, itje had to take the rom down because of MS copyright or just complaints...Still looking forward to it tho man
No offence, but I'd rather Itje perfected Touch-IT Landscape v4.0 first.
Once that's been tweaked to his satisfaction, and he's had time to catch up with his life, THEN it may be worth asking him if he'll do a ROM based on WM6.5. Personally, I think I'll be happier with a streamlined TouchFlo3D interface than the honeycomb and today screen WM6.5 uses.
I am NOT working on a release to any 6.5 at this rom at the moment.
My only priority now is v4...
I did cook it for personal review, but it is still not worth the effort on posting it.
I will neither respond to any PM or email from ppl wanting to test it.

so u saying it makes not sence to try it yet?
That's exactly what he's saying.
Right now, everyone is using unofficial beta releases of WM6.5 to try it out and it isn't exactly ready for everyday use YET. That's also why MS has been asking XDA-Dev to close threads relating to WM6.5 ROMs.
If you hold fire for a few months, you may find that HTC and other manufacturers may update their phone's ROMs towards the end of the year.

Nice to see someone is still working on this. I have been following the development since it was started, and would really like to help. However my programming skills are litterally non-existent, so probably not much I can do apart from cheeering you on? beta testing? let me know..
Cheers
Finally,
Some people like myself too, were hoping in that. A full working version of android on the touch HD...Good luck...and post your results...we would be really pleased to test...

Hi tuxhero,
Touch HD is a very good device, but windows is not a good SO.
We all know windows, slow, always crashing...lost os bugs...
Android in Touch HD would be real great.
I'm available to do developments, testing, anything.
Try to describe really well, provide helpful link....you know info that can help...
I'm joining this TEAM TUXHERO ANDROID BLACKSTONE
It seams that at least now things are going on the right track, we have people working.

Why is Windows not a good OS? I'm not a fan at all, but such statements are simply not true. Furthermore you should consider that Windows has nothing to do with Windows Mobile ...

Mine isn't crashing that often, isn't slow and I haven't noticed any bug so far.
Just to make it clear: I don't want to hamper the development. In fact I would love to see an alternative to Windows Mobile, but saying things like above aren't the right motivation!
Windows Mobile - even in 6.5 version is good couple years behind functionality of Android or Iphone OS. It was build for PDAs or Pocket PC and it was working perfectly fine for those devices.
BUT for HTC Blackstone - it is not suitable, yes TouchFlo is making this beautiful phone usable, but its only thanks to it one can appreciate it's functionality.
That is why I would LOVE to see Android working on Blackstone.
So thank you for trying. I will be among the first people that will test it whenever you will make it available. [I am just a phone user/gadget lover - so can't help more than that]

I don't think that WM is a bad OS.
Ok, the shipped ROM of my HD was... omg it was horrible.
But when I look at the actually cooked ROMs, they are very fast and stable.
There smoothnes is almost as good as the Iphone's one.
I think all OS's has there positive and negative aspects:
WM is not the userfriendliest, but fully customizeable!
Iphone OS is very userfriendly, but its customizeable like a Gameboy (Customizeable don't means installing different programms)
Android is an alternative to both OS. Userfriendly and customizeable. So if anyone isn't that happy with WM, Android is an good alternative.
I would support this project with all I'm able to.
Greets
Thankyou for your support but please limit this thread to Android Porting only don't use it for other stuff.

It is possible but you don't need to extract it we already had source code so we can compile it. But the problem is blackstone is not designed to run Android
that changes lot of things. Now our task is to find what we need to change n change it.
So you said that you are using the android-msm and not the htc-msn kernel for now.
What kernel did xmoo and obus(?? not sure about the name ^^) use? The htc-msm?
Is the android kernel as good as working as the version from obus/xmoo, or is it working better in the moment?

Countdown to this thread being locked. These types of questions go nowhere. Everyone has their own opinions. Try one and see for yourself. If you do not like it go back. For me to tell you it's "great this" and "fantastic that" does not prove anything as the next person may say it is terrible and 6.1 is best blah blah blah. So how does that help you to decide?

Hello, I would like to know whether it is possible to have Win Mobile 6.5 installed on this mobile phone or not (HTC Desire). Please advise. Thank you in advance.
1. Wrong section.
2. Everything is possible if you make it. Is there currently a stable WinMo ROM? No, and I don't believe there will be.
There is something, though. It's called HTC HD2.

Sorry if this thread is not in appropriate section. Feel free to move it where it should be. I am new here.
Regarding my question, I don´t want to make flame what is better. The think is following. I had a HTC TP2 but it felt down from my tank-bag in 270 kmph. It survived but was damaged. My repair work was its end .o]
Now I am looking for some device which has suitable dimensions like HTC TP2 - Desire is OK, display res. 800*480, 1GHz processor. Of course I will try Adroid system, but I have many applications for WM, for example iGO8. So I am checking whether it is possible to change ROM and have there WM ROM. XDA developers are well known as a bunch of people who are able to do everything. I was searching forum slightly, but didn´t foind appropriate thread... Please help.

But you've been answered. No, there is no WinMo ROM for Nexus/Desire. No, the chances someone would want to make WinMo port for these devices in any shape or form is slim to none, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
