different .VOL files on root

hi all -
i knowwhat pim.vol is for, and trying to find out what's the role of other PIM's:
i'm trying 2 do some manual backup's etc etc things: reply appericiated:
mxip_initdb.vol = ???
mxip_lang.vol = ??
mxip_notify.vol = ??
mxip_sysem.vol =?? (espcially intrested in this one)
palmVol.vol = ??
and what info WMPInfo.xml contains? (i'm trying 2 copy on desktop and open it but getting error tat file cant open labh labh labh)

The only help i can provide is on the last issue. Get a file manager like TotalCommander and copy the file localy (in the device). Then you can use ActiveSync to copy the file to your PC as the new copy won't be a system file any longer

WMPInfo.xml is probably Windows Media DRM information to compliment WMP10.

thx for replies - got new problem now:
i 'm flashing my device from last few days to see which WM6 will work best- i always use pim.vol file 2 restore my contacts (jsut copy it on root); while doing it 4th time, i came to strange issue; my contacts are not showing up ; i press contact buttons and it flash for a sec and then gone; although all of call history is showing up, but i cant see my contacts directory
ne idea y this might b happening?? i dont wana flash one more time just for this issue.
do i need pimvol.vol file along with pim.vol?? (although i always used jsut pim.vol and it showed me alll of my contacts)

Sounds like the database got corrupted, that happened to my appointments and when one notified me it sent me over 900 alerts before stopping and wouldn't get out of endless notify-repeat-crash-notify cycle.

How'd u fix this database corrupt issue neo k? i'm still having same problem; pim wont work on aku 3.3 or crossbow ROM's, but if i flash to 2.26 Tmob rom then it's fine; and showing me all of my contacts, call histrory, appointments etc.
I tried this thing with sbp backup file but same issue. wont work on crossbow or aku3.3. i cant add new number either. whenevr i try, the screen flash for a second and thats it.
any idea>>anybody???

hehe, it's not a corrupt file but a difference in format. When moving from an AKU version to a higher you risk that. It's like wanting to use a word document from Office 97 in Office 2003 (without backwards compatibility)
It happened to me once when i moved from AKU 1.x to AKU 2

yep
i didn't bother much with contacts since i don't have much friends (kiddin' ) but it cost me a great deal to loose all the appointement's history

THANKS FRED_ I was about to post it that it's been resolved using your backup tool atlast (although it wasnt working in the beginning for some reason); although it was not that automated (means that contacts/log/appointments get backed up in separate file but hey!!!!! it works; and worked lke charm..even retained pics associated with contacts)
so thank you once again...for everyone replies and help;
~officially running crossbow now w/o ne error..or so they say ~

Finally after the sucessful work of the PV team...we have a working STK for our PPC's....attached is the STK extracted from Sonblacks Rom..

as per request..i have modded the cab file and added the REG keys also..now please try again and post the results..else i have started to learn Porting of ROMs..have extracted Farias ROM..will see later if there is something useful for our device.. ..

never tried the sonblack rom ather.. im using master c_shekhar wm6.1 build 19209..

the STK has been reported to work on Sonblacks ROM..so i dumped the ROM and extracted the STK from it..

No luck yet...
It's not working. Only opens a blank white screen. After setting the STK service to start at startup-and a softreset, the STK UI link in start menu/programs changes to DialogServices which is my network provider. I tried diffrent settings in registry too, but still No luck. Can you add the settings in HKLM/Services/STK_Service too in the CAB. Is there any other Registry modifications that affects STK.

Still not working.... But try this,
1.Install & restart
2.Open FdcSoft task-mgr or SKtools
3.Go to services section. You will see a service named Stk_Services. This is in automatic mode, but stopped.
4.Start it.
5.Now click the start menu shortcut. It may still show a white screenin the first time, but notem the soft-keys are now labeled.
6.Exit from it and clic again.
7. NOW IT WORKS. But when clicked on something in the second level menu, it gives a error message
"sorry, service is unavailable. Error:FF03"
Still something is missing. I think the best method available is to build our rom on the PDAVIET rom.

these files are extracted from PV rom it self..now i know it cant be the Enviromental Difference ..what could be the problem..will try again the Registery

I dumped the PDAVIET rom and searched the registry for anythink related to STK, but I failed. Looking forward for a good solution from you. Sir, how can I set the STK service to autostart & keep working at startup? I tried in the registry manually and with FdcSoft Task Manager. It says automatic, But still I have to start it manually after each restart.

after i installed the STK2.cab, it autatically restarded the phone, open my program folder and saw that there are two STK link.
one is the original "myservice" Menu
and the other one is STK UI
i clicked the new link program bt unfortunately, the same appearance that i see everytime i open my last link of STK program. There are only white screen and "STK Service" at the top.
here is what happened asther. hope that it will help you making the updated cab for STK..

(But this is independent of the status of the service. No matter it is STARTED or STOPPED, the 'keep' stays in 1

But don't forget change region setting to your own in hklm\software\htc\quickGPS
Oh, i forgot, it's russian version. There are two mui in windows directory: Gps_aux.dll.0419.mui and quickGPS.exe.0419.mui. So rename it to 0409 for working in wwe rom.

PS: this version downloads xtra.bin file which used by qualcomm based devices (Kaiser, Polaris, Diamond) with GPSOne chip. I think it will work on Trinity (also GPSOne chip) but we don't complete all tests yet

You can get QuickGPS app which you like (English or other). All necessary registry values in attached cab! So, we only "teach" QuickGPS download right file.
Region settings=Country name. Russia=RU, Italia=IT, France=FR, Belgium=BE etc.
I don't complete all tests... BTW, i will say that it work (sometimes). Ex: I do HR, install QGPS, get fix, run GPSinfo, but there is no satellites listed and i get standard fix (very long, apx 200 - 230 sec).
Ex2: At the evening i trying one more time. Same schema: I do HR, install QGPS, get fix, run GPSinfo and i see that all satt in their positions. Fix get in 45-47 sec. I don't understand why.
Syncronisation with PC back up FIX? Any ideas?

I actually got quickgps to work by installing 2 versions
the first is the 760kb then i install over it the 238kb version and then restart and it works like magic
now i can get a cold fix in few seconds

I look this two cab files. First (larger) identical to my russian cab, but english version. Second look like a cab for sirf based devices. setup.xml in it have many "waste" registry keys... and i see that it reconfigure gps com port... i'm right?
Please, make HR, get fix and tell us: do you see sattelites in their positions after that?

Hi G-Max, I have just installed the two files; how do I "make HR, get fix" to see if it works?
On registry the right country code shows. but in folder 0, 1 and 2 the default region is not set; could be the problem?

Started TomTom 7 and not much of the difference noted.
Update 2,
Downloaded service.mio-tech.com/eeservice/packedephemeris.ee and placed it manually in Windows folder and Voila connected in less than 10 seconds.

There is No USB to PC Pop Up Universal Cab.
As i have understood from research by NFSFAN.
To get this working on specific devices it need specific values FROM that device to be added to the installation.

Sorry to crosspost but I have a problem related to UsbToPC:
I am using a custom WM6.1 ROM on a Kaiser.
When I used to plug the USB Cable I had a nice window opening which allowed to choose "ActiveSync" and "Internet Sharing". I think this is the HTCUSBToPCPopUp program.
The problem is I inadvertently clicked the "never ask again" box, and of course the pop up does not appear again... How can I enable it back?
I looked through the registry and the HKLM\Software\OEM\USBtoPC keys seems fine:
AskConnect: 1
Device_Type: 2
DisablePopUpUI: 0
EnableAdvanceChecked: 0
SyncMode: 1

I had the same problem. To fix it (and fix activesync) go to programs/usb to pc which brings up the interface check/uncheck ask when I connect option on bottom. you may also disable the fast sync option (i did both and now I can use activesync)

[Q] problem in andriod market

sir, i have very recently bought htc g1 mobile....but i experienced some problems right 4m its first day....
1. firstly when i select its andriod market...i go to some application say entertainment...there i dont find anything....even when i try 2 find something in search icon there, most rearly 1 or 2 applications do appear rest dont appear....eg i try to download talky tom...it dosnt arrives..
2.whatever application(very few) do come in andriod market but when i download them thay seccessfully get downloaded but on opening them they dont open rather there comes force close option..
3.when i try 2 write something on google search...there again comes force close and i m not able 2 search in google either.

what rom version and market version are you using? have you tried a factory reset or any other of the more simple fixes yet?

try going to menu - setting - application - market and clear cache , then restart market
