Root 【2.03.405.3】 ????

Hi there,I'm chinese,yesterday I got a RUU base on 2.03.405.3(LEGEIMG_Legend_HTC_WWE_2.03.405.3_Radio_47.39.35.09_7.08.35.21_release_130330_signed.zip)in my legend. now,I connot root...SOS~
So far, it is not possible to root a ROM above 1.31.xxx.
i've got the 2.03.405.3 version running, rooted...
[ROM] UPDATED Almost Stock Legend HTC WWE 2.03.405.3 Radio 7. 08.35.21
isn't that the version he wants ?
that version is rooted...
Yes, sure! But once used the RUU with 2.xx it is not possible to flash another ROM. So he also cannot flash the rooted 2.03.xxx. I am in the same situation - I am also waiting for the possibility to root my 2.xx ROM.

[Q] Froyo 2.2.1 - Rooted Version?

Hi All,
Was just looking into the prospect of rooting and I came across a post that basically responded to a guy asking whether subsequent OTA/Official updates would revert the root. the response was:
this might well happen. To be sure that this won't happen, don't update, or wait for a rooted version of the update to be released

It's the bit in bold that's got me wondering. I have my Nexus running stock ROM but rooted (with locked bootloader). I have the problem with the WiFi which 2.2.1 claims to fix.....and I just wasting time thinking that this update might get released as a rooted version so I can just install and not worry about losing root?
Any help gratefully received.
Cheers
1. Already released as a rooted version (check the ROM section)
2. Really easy to root with rageagainsthtecage ...
Right I can ask you the question then......with the rageagainstthecage root method, is there anyway to install the update without flashing a new ROM...I'm ok with stock.
If you're rooted - install custom recovery and install pre-rooted ROM.
Or try to apply the stock update through stock recovery, if you have it.

Just install the OTA - it will unroot you.
then root with "rage"
check out modaco, he's got frg83 completely stock with root. just flash using custom recovery. I didnt do a wipe so everything stayed the same just updated to 2.2.1 and yes it seems the wifi issue was fixed.
Just get the stock rooted from geo411m's rom!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=559
The links here will also do it in 2 steps from custom recovery:
http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8419658&postcount=194
The geo411m link is a deodexed ROM and the one in the link above is not deodexed. Either way you get the fixes of the newer version.
Going forward, think of it this way with future updates:
If you apply the OTA, intending to lose root and then re-root, you always run the risk that all avenues of rooting (other than unlocking the bootloader) have been closed by the new ROM.
If you apply an update repacked for custom recovery, you don't have to worry whether the root exploit you used last time will still be valid.

Thanks for that - honestly not sure why I didn't think of it
Ahh found a flaw in my plan.....it seems that verification fails on my Vodafone Nexus One (UK). I'm guessing there isn't an upgrade path from Vodafone's Froyo update to this yet. Suppose I'll have to wait for Voda's 2.2.1

[Q] Virgin OTA update fail

Hi there,
I'm trying to update my s-off, rooted IS to 2.3. There's an OTA update available which I understand won't work (and doesn't).
Is the best option to flash the stock ROM (hopefully my terminology is accurate) and then run the OTA update? Where can I get the stock files from?
Finally, is there a way to backup/restore my SMS history, contacts, etc. once I update?
I have clockworkmod installed.
Thanks to everyone in advance for helping someone without a clue!

If you are S-OFF and rooted, then just install a rooted GB ROM. Why take a chance and mess with a carrier OTA?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168796
This is a rooted version of the latest WWE GB ROM for the IncS. It is an unbranded ROM and doesn't have any carrier bloatware, just the standard HTC apps.

Thanks! Can I just go ahead and install, or do I need to wipe stuff first?
Will I then need to flash a new radio - and if so... how?
Thanks again.
If you already have gingerbread 2.3 than why on earth would you want to go back and download 2.3 again? Not understanding. And no I dont think you will need to flash a new radio going on the basis that you already have a gingerbread radio right now!!??!!

I just flashed this over my Froyo 2.2 install and it kept all of my apps and settings in tact. Yes you will also need to upgrade your radio and flash a GB radio, too. There is a thread in the Developers section about upgrading your radio.

You misunderstood the OP. He has a S-OFF and rooted IncS and wants to upgrade to 2.3. No where did he say he already had 2.3.

[Q] Upgrading to Lollipop with locked/rooted?

Should I be doing a full wipe? Could I possibly try just upgrading? Am I in danger of a brick if I don't un-root first?
Thanks!

Chances are small that you'll get bricked, but when going to another major version of an OS it's highly advised to do a full wipe.

Updating after Rooting With CH Method

So with the ChainFire method listed in this forum to root the S6, will I be able to update with OTA updates? First time rooting this way without installing custom recovery etc.
If not able, what will be the easiest method when updates come out?
Thanks in advance
Nope. You have to unroot or flash original t mobile firmware.
To take the ota you need 100% stock plus stock recovery.
Odin back to factory T-Mobile firmware is the only way

You can reflash stock firmware using odin and it will not delete data unless you manually do a factory reset. You should be good to go.

Thanks! Have rooted and deleted some bloatware and am waiting for the new firmware to fix the lit Flash LED issue. I just really don't want to go through the backup process for all my data and apps.
