Can I check if my phone has been hardspl-d? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hi,
I just got a used TP2 from Aus to use on ATT. I am planning to flash a cooked rom, just would like to double check what I need to do. I am not sure if previous owner did a hard spl unlock, or not. Has stock rom on.
Is there a way to check if phone has been hardspl-ed and/or locked back to original spl?
Can I harm the device by using the hard spl, in case it was done already?
I am sure the answer is in these threads already, but I failed to find it, so please point me in the right direction.
Thank you!
I_Z

just go to bootloader (voldown + pwr or voldown+reset if it is already powered on) and check for SPL line

Flashing Rom

Hello, i bought a ATT kaiser last week on ebay. The phone is unlocked and comes with HTC WM6 rom. Now i was thinking on upgrading it when it gets here to WM6.1 Duttys. Just wondering if this sounds right. When i get it do i have to run HardSPL then the rom , and lastly the radio...Do i have to install a new radio or can i leave it out. and Since it has been hacked to HTC rom's do i need to run HardSPL first. Thanks and feel free to fill me in on anything i am missing. i really do not want to brick my new phone eheh. Oh one more thing is it really even worth upgrading the rom to 6.1 will i see a big differance with all the effort.
Thanx a ton Grand Pooba
Oh also i heard i might have to install the org. rom first. is this true ?
What you want to do is check out the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369282
Read all you can regarding flashing to understand the process better.
To answer your questions:
1) If the device is not HardSPL, then you need to do that first. To check this, hold down the Camera+Power Buttons, and press the Reset button using the stylus. If it's HardSPL you should see a tri-color screen (Red, Green, Blue) with "KAIS1*0 MFG and some additional info, including "SPL-1.0.OliPof. If you see this then it's HardSPL.
2) For the radio it depends on what's currently on your device and what's required by the ROM you want to use. Normally each ROM will have details as to which radio you need. It's recommended to flash Radio first and then ROM.

Quick question about HARD SPL

My Kaiser just arrived in the mail, and it came preloaded with DCS 1.7 rom. Since this ROM has already been loaded, I assume the the CID is already unlocked and HARD SPL has already been run once.
So does this mean I don't have to run it again to flash to Dutty's latest rom? Thanks.
not a good assumption, as there are other ways of flashing without hardspl. just put the device in bootloader and see if it says.....something with olipof in it. if that's the case the case then you have hardspl
And if I have HARD SPL, then I just go ahead and flash the Dutty ROM?

Thanks. I read through a lot of that stuff already.
I just checked and HARD SPL is already on the phone. So now it's safe to flash Dutty's rom?
Soounds like you have your answer
Well, it sounds like you've checked so if you're sure, flash away. Although, if you haven't already, I'd do a id10t check first to be doubly sure (i.e. press the camera button+Power button+soft reset) and verify you have Hardspl installed otherwise you run the risk of brickin your phone.

it doesnt hurt to do it again? or am i wrong? its just to be on the safe side

bricked herald ??

hello could anyone help me ?
my device is stuck in bootloader and its recognized by the PC

SPL (ditto)
I searche everywhere an there seem to be only ways out for people with SPL 4.00.xxxx
is there a way out ??
thank you
sorry fr the bump but i really need help
I tried placing the phone in bootloader and installing the official HTC rom
but i get an ERROR 300
and the percentage is stuck at 0 on the screen
Try to flash your device with the Stock ROM.
That usually works
He already tried this, but it didnt work.
Let me just quote a post from dougstoner:
dougstoner said:
Well, yes and no. In the long run, it's better to Hard spl your phone. A lot of the roms in the forum require hard spl first. If you somehow fail during the hard spl, then you end up with a "brick". I used the uspl method first to flash, and it was a little easier to do, but hard spl'ing insn't complicated either. You just have to make sure of your ipl number is higher than 4. You can check this by holdign down the camera button, and press the soft reset button (use the stylus on the side to press) and continue to hold the camera button until you get to what's called the bootloader screen. It's red, blue, and green. Here are the instructions for hard spl, but MAKE SURE your ipl number is hight FIRST. If it isn't, you will brick your phone.
I case of people who donĀ“t read 200 post and still brick their device - here is the guide that worked for ALL people with:
HTC P4350
XDA Terra
WING
with IPL 4.xxx and higher!!! (that is IMPORTANT)
and then follow this:
Default
For me it was working when:
1. install canonyang.cab
2. install aserpolicy.cab
3- install disablesecurity.cab
4. SOFTRESET
5. run RUU from Hard-SPLWM6 folder verison 4.70.yang
6. screen will become white - WAIT until it reboots itselfe.
7. done!
check if SPL now is 4.70.yang
Fore sure: I used this
http://rapidshare.de/files/38148213/...l_WM6.rar.html
mirror: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ot8zsn
It worked for many others, too.

So the IPL should at least be 4.xx but as you posted yours is 1.xx?! Might this be the issue?
Unfortunately, a SPL of 1.x after a hardspl/USPL means that the phone has been permanently bricked. Did you try to hardSPL your device or use USPL? They're both only compatible with 4.x SPL's.
I saw that someone recently came up with a way to fix bricked phones. They weren't Heralds, I forgot what they were... They basically found a way to use a buffer overrun on the SPL to launch code so they could launch a patched SPL and reflash... i wonder if our SPL's have that same bug and the method could be applied to us, too.
hey,
if my Herald is IPL 1.xxx can I somehow make it a 4.xxx? Or is there no chance to flash other roms? What does the IPL depend on? Production date?
thanks everyone for your patient replies
I guess for IPL 1.x there seems to be no solution as of now !!!
it was actually working initially with touch IT after Hard spl but i wanted to give a try to another version of touch it thats when the device got bricked .
I feel really sorry for you, but dont give up yet. As ivanmmj said, there could be a solution. Just check the forum.
I am not sure whether it helps but I did a little search and found severals threads:
Fix Bricked HTC ELF/ELFin
Someone with the same ERROR300 as yours
good luck

UK Orange Diamond Unlocked - Rom upgrade?

Hi
I have a UK orange Diamond which has been unlocked using the legendary Oli unlock method....
Can I put the UK orange HTC ROM upgrade directly on this and will the handset still remain Sim unlocked?
I am on T-Mobile UK and want to make sure I can continue using this without a brick!
also is there a good method of backing it up?
are there any alternative ROM updates which anyone would recommend in this situation?
Thanks all
If your Device has Hard-SPL installed on it, you should be able to flash any ROM without any problems.
If your device has been SIM-Unlocked, do whatever you like it will remain SIM-Unlocked. Even if you flash a new ROM or even Radio ROM it will stay SIM Unlocked.
To backup messages, contacts, etc I recommend you use PIM backup.
But anything on the 4GB storage doesn't get wiped off anyway.
And about bricking your device...apparently Hard-SPL is meant to be a lot safer than the Stock-SPL because if you screw up your Flash you can just go back to the Hard-SPL and flash a new ROM, overwriting the corrupted one.
Thanks for that,
Silly Q but how do I know if Hard SPL is installed? I know the unlock method required installing something...
Im scared of doing this as I have bricked in the past my HTC Kaiser! lol... dont want to make this mistake again!!
Lol don't worry about it, I even freak out when installing official updates.
Flashing ROMs still scare me and I have been using and flashing PDAs since 2005!
To make sure HardSPL is installed, Go into Bootloader mode on your HTC Diamond.
I think its the Soft Reset Button + Volume down button.
Hold the Volume down button and quickly press and let go of the Soft reset button, whilst holding the volume down button until the bootloader menu comes up.
If you have HardSPL installed, you should see something along the lines of 'Olinex'.
As far as I know, if you used Olipro's unlocker then you must have installed HardSPL in the processess anyway, but best to be sure!
Thanks for the info, It does say OliNex on it so im flashing now....
still on 0% .......
only been 3 mins tho, so patiently waiting...
How did the flashing go?
got there in the end mate
had to put the HARD-SPL developers version as the official orange rom would not go past 0%..
was scary but its working a treat now!
thanks a lot for your help
Glad you got there in the end
Enjoy your HTC Diamond

How to restore to original?

Hi there,
My brother also has an HD and off course I put a nice custom ROM on it
However, the screen is dead since yesterday.
I already put the original dutch ROM on it, but it shows a nasty green windows screen. I can't get any further beyond allign screen...
My question: when he sends his HD to HTC, they will probably won't fix it, because they can see it's HSPL (?).
So anybody knows how to restore to complete original, without getting into the phone with cabs? I put HSPL on it, the phone is 6 months old.
Any help would really be appreciated!!!!
Thx a lot

You can restore original SPL and rom without having to get into phone with cabs.
As long as you can enter bootloader screen you can restore stock SPL.
I came across this "step for step" process via a search. I have not tried it yet (and hopefully never have to -
How to reflash Stock/Shipped SPL - STEP BY STEP - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY!
0. be sure to first restore stock OS, and stock radio. stock SPL is always to be done last!!
1. download your choice of a stock spl package (ie the original SPL).
2. also download the original hardspl from the attachments in this post. (I presume you already have this?)
3. run the hardspl exe but do not click anything in RUU yet. just let the hardspl EXE extract the files for flashing. (You can probably skip this step)
4. the SPL you want to revert to is a .NBH file, put the stock SPL NBH in the extracted hardspl package, overwriting the original NBH file in it!
5. continue with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to tricolour 1.07.OliNex screen), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
+6. to verify, enter bootloader mode, see version number on tricolour screen, should now just say 1.14.0000.
that's it.
+7. no worries: if your device is stuck in bootloader mode with Hard-SPL and you need warranty service, you can still flash stock SPL.
As I said, I have not tried this. If this does not work, search on this site or Google for additional info. Hope it helps.

Thanks for linking to the post, I just added the steps
The OP however says that they have already flashed back to the stock ROM, but that the colours are screwy. This needs the stock SPL restored as well in order to recover normal functioning (or at least so that they can send in for repairs without voiding the warranty).

note that; if you restore stock SPL 114 or 115 please download the same rom version for flashing.
ex: when you restore SPL 114 you must have ship Rom:http://rs68l32.rapidshare.com/files....479.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
because the different SPL & Rom version will make wrong screen.
wow, thank you very much for the quick and usefull replies!
I installed this ROM:
http://rapidshare.com/files/2189268...6.404.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe
So after this I have to install original SPL? Can you guys see which one?
Thanks in advance!

The process of restoring stock rom/SPL is only to be used if you plan to return device. If you are wanting to keep you you mentioned earlier then you would need to put either USPL or HSPL on your device first. I would recommend USPL for you as it would be easier to return to stock SPL afterwards.
Once you have rom on your device, DO NOT restore stock SPL afterwards. You only restore this if you plan to return your device. If you did you would have to go through whole process of putting USPL or HSPL onto your device again to flash another rom.
The phone has to be returned because of screen problems.
I will put SPL 1.13 on it and then flash the earlier mentioned ROM.
Then return to HTC

No probs. Out of curiosity what screen problems do you have? Are they Hardware problems or is it something else which could possibly be fixed through the assistance of xda users
It's the phone of my brother, he tells me that the screen doesn't respond anymore, so he can't get past the calibration!
I'll give an update when HTC fixed this (or replaced it )
Thanks for all the help!
I'm doing this right now. I had been using Dutty's V6 before. I never updated the radio, so Ishouldn't have to change it, right?
Anyway, I flashed the stock RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe rom, and that went fine. I'm trying to flash the stock 1.13 spl, and I get error 202: connection. It thinks it can't see my phone, even though it does the initial connection, and even sees what version (1.56) of the spl is on there. Any ideas?
Ok, I did this: I put the phone into bootloader manually by pressing up when it boots up to get to the tricolor screen. That let me run the 1.13 spl pdate, and it said it completed successfully. However, when it boots ups, it still shows D:1.56 olinex or whatever. Did it not work?
Ok, acutally I think it did load up. The Bootloader shows SPL-1.13.0000. So why does it show:
R1.13.25.24
G52.62.25.34u
D1.56.00.00
Is this ready to send in for service?

If your SPL says 1.13.0000 then you are fine to send phone in for service.
R1.13.25.24 - Radio Version
G52.62.25.34u - Protocol Version
D1.56.00.00 - ROM Version
