HELP ME... URGENCY, has to do with reverting to stock... - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

This is my case, the volume button on my xperia stopped working... so is it possible to flash stock rom without using volume down button?? Do u guys think it'll be simple to fix if i open the phone?? Maybe the button just slid off the thing that it presses (noob terminology). Does updating the phone via Sony ericson update utility install stock rom OR does it just change hard-spl to stock spl?? The reason for me wanting to stock it up is obvious, i want the volume button fixed and some of my keyboard buttons stopped working... its funny cuz i take care of my phone like its my life :S
PLEASEE MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS... tnx

- You can flash the stock rom using RUU ROM Update Utility via activesync connected instead of microsd method.
- Flash rom via SEUS doesnt change the hardSPL. But I think the latest SEUS needs stock rom/stock spl installed first, I'm not sure.

THANK YOU!!
So i should install my backed up stock rom then change the hard spl to stock?
Btw, should i install another stock rom intead of mine, for some reason i think something will go wrong (cuz I* backed it up)...

btw is this the tutorial i should be following?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508038
because it says that is for flashing radios but it seems like its the same thing no?

i think this linkmuch better, also has got everything what you need.good luck mate..

that thread is not what you are looking for, the one posted above this # is more suitable, but if you want to get back to stock because of warranty I would advice on
original x1 rom thread for the latest stock rom matching your country
olinex hspl thread to get the stock spl and read how to restore it
get customruu here as your volume control seems messed
biovolts tutorials for flashing and recovering if you are unsure (4.+5. for recovery)
bootloader app in case you still want to use sd card for flashing instead of synching with pc

do i just flash the rom as normal?
Read the steps at the end of the first post on this thread
You will need the stock ROM from the post you gave (ie http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444158) and follow the steps in the thread above. You will also need to revert to a stock 1.14 SPL as the final step (also in the thread above)

If you remove battery can you turn device on using power button? If so, you can still flash a rom as you can still enter bootloader
i'm pretty sure i found a small app that puts the HD in the bootloader anyway.
assuming you can switch it on LOL...but if you can do that you can already get there!!
....its in the zip
or if you pull out battery and put it back in with the datacable in itll boot
also remember orange dont check what u have on ur phone i know this as ive asked them and ive never flashed back to there rom before sending
theyre idiots

I wanna send my X1 back to Sony Ericcson because of some issues.
But i need to flash it back to the original rom.
when i try it with the SEUS it doenst work, the phone can't identified ... please reconect the USB.
i tried a hard reset already but that didnt do the job.
Is there any other way to flash it back to the original rom?
tnx.
try to find your original rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477801
or here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
when you found the rom, flash SPL back to original, than it should be possible to connect the phone with SEUS (at my phone atleast).
I hope this helps, good luck

Hi all...
I own a community in one social network, and i'm responsible for bringing them solutions, my doubt is: if i revert the x1 to the original rom and SPL, will I still be able to hardSPL it again to use custom roms again or is there any problem?

As I have understood, first you have a "virgin" phone:
1) Stock ROM, stock SPL - can only flash Stock ROM
2) Flash HardSPL - after that can flash any ROM
If you need to bring it back to SE:
1) Flash stock ROM
2) Flash stock SPL - it is important to do it in that order, first back to Stock ROM, then back to stock SPL.
After getting your phone back from repairs:
1) You can flash HardSPL again, to be able to flash any ROM (both custom and stock)
ok thanks, if there is any problem i'll do this...

SE Updater failed to install new rom, what is the best thing to do now?

Hello,
I know you guys got some excellent walkthroughs, roms, programs and threads where you've helped a lot of people out but I could really use some personal feedback. I had hoped to fix my phone using one of the excisting threads but unfortunalty I can't get it to work with those.
My problem is one I've seen more of in here, I used the SE updater and it froze at 53%, I did what the program said, reconnected and it froze again at 12%, and again, again, etc. So I disconnected thinking it might be a bad USB port. But then the updater didn't recognise my phone at all. So I used the mtty program suggested in some of the threads and I got past the red/green/blue screen but now it's stuck at the Sony Ericson logo, as if WM6.1 is gone.
This is what the red/green/blue screen currently states:
KOV110
SPL-0.78.0000
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
From what I gather this means I can't flash roms, right? I tried making it a hard-spl but when I use the tool it says it can't connect.
So is there anyway to get a rom on it and bring it back to life?
Thanks inadvance!
Get an original rom from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
copy .nbh file from the package onto your sd card and rename it to : Kovsimg.nbh then bring phone into boot loader via : vol down + power.
It should flash the rom now. i the problem is still present after that you
have to deal with mTTy but first try the flash...
i think you could also bring phone into bootloader without sd card inserted then connect usb cable, display should now print 'USB',and after that start rom update utility.
regards

Thank you for your reply, I will do as you said although I've already tried something similiar to this. I believe the problem was that I couldn't flash roms from my SD since I don't have the hard SLD. But I will try it anyway as soon as I get home.
In the mean time I would love to hear more ideas about how to fix my phone.

You really need have to flash the HardSPL first as, based in your above post, you still have not done that. It will be useless to flash cooked ROM with that. If you can still power on your phone and you have an activesynch in your computer, i suggest you download the HardSPL first and update your phone using your PC. If you are successful doing that, then you can flash all you want.
original roms will still work with original spl... but nevermind =P

My phone can still power on in the sense that it shows the Sony Ericson logo or that I can access the three collor screen. But it won't launch WM6.1. I also have a problem with updating to hard DSL. It does recognise my phone because without it connected the program finds nothing and with the phone connected it wants to start updating. It says ''updating from image version: (emply) to image version: 1.00.X1 Ipress next and it opens a progress bar on both my X1 and the PC. But it never goes beyond 0% and then gives me an connection error. I think it has something to do with not being able to get passed the Sony Ericson logo. I mean the hard-DSL program does recognise my mobile but activeSync is never active because my PC doesn't recognise a WinMobile phone (since it wont go past the Sony Ericson screen)

Really? That might fix my device then. Could you suggest a rom from the long list? Perhaps one that works on all versions? Because I'm dutch but my mobile has always been in english so I'm not sure what rom version I had. Except that it was identified as an R2 Rom by the Sony updater before it killed my X1...
Go here
Find the latest stock rom for your country (and perhaps your carrier) and flash it
No need to have Hard SPL for that

Alright so I got an R1 original rom (I now realize that the R3's were originals aswell) and it worked! I'm not sure if it was the different rom or the formatting with FAT32 that did but it works again. So I'd like to thank everyone who was kind enough to reply.
The device is incredibly slow now but now I can use the hard-DSL installer, right? DOes anyone have a suggestion for a good rom to use?

DON'T hard-spl if you're going to flash a stock ROM. And especially if you're going to use SEUS.
Try flashing the R3A first. The R1s are way slow, as you've seen.

Bad Flash?

Ok, here's what i did:
I'm sending my xperia back to vodafone, so i need to restore stock rom and spl. I flashed a NL Vodafone R3AA rom (found here) to my phone yesterday, which worked perfectly. Did a hard reset, and went on with restoring stock spl.I tried using the special RUU with a replaced stock spl .nbh (the method described in one of the topics here), but the RUU couldnt find my phone. Since i didnt have another PC here, i tried to flash the .nbh to my phone via the micro SD method.
This went well, the progress bar filled up and disappeared, followed by 10+ minutes of "loading". Advised by a friend, i pulled out the battery, put it back in the device and powered it on. The phone instantly booted, showing the bootloader-screen and saying it's going to resume flashing the device. Followed by another endless "loading" screen.
But, since i got a chance to look in the bootloader-screen, I saw the SPL version was now 0.72.000 (or something like that, at least the OliNex text was gone). Afaik, this means the stock spl is back. I tried replacing the stock spl Kovsimg.nbh with the default one provided with the custom RUU (which is OliNex HardSPL, right?), but it showed the same "loading" screen. I havent tried flashing the rom again, since the bootloader says it's on stock spl at the moment...
What can i do? I guess they dont accept bricks over at vodafone...
Thanks in Advance,
Sorbo
using the usb cable and the ROM flashing Custom_RUU.exe
flash the R3A Rom again. that should fix it not booting!
You also need to flash the radio back to stock (not sure what version it is, but it's around here somewhere) otherwise you'll face flash issues. This means flashing HardSPL flashing the radio, flashing StockSPL again and return. Also, best flash R2A. Not sure if R3A was ever properly released.
Ok guys, thanks for the replies

Ok, thanks for the tip R2AA it is!
When flashing the rom the radio was also updated, but i'll try this
R3AA was properly released!
if you want to be cure of complete stock why not just use SEUS?
and there is no need to flash radio with stock ROMs as they're included, all your doing is flashing a radio extracted from a stock rom anyway! this means you don't have to hardspl

And this was the winning tip. Just flashed back the R3AA rom (vfone NL), even though i doubted if it would work (since the bootloader said it was back on stock spl), but it did.
Phone works again. Bootloader now says 0.78.000 (or something like that, no OliNex), so i guess it's ok now. RUU still isnt able to flash the phone, tried on 3 different pc's ( win7 x64, vista x86, xp x86), but i cant flash the phone...
Ah well, i'll try to send it back, see what they come up with. Thanks a bunch!

Use the Custom_RUU (computer cable) method to flash back to the stock. Don't use SEUS. If you still have warranty, revert to stock ROM and spl and send your phone back for repair or have them replace it with an iPhone
I sent mine in a couple of days ago. It was not that easy. First I installed stock ROM and stock Radio (which I wrote down - fortunately). Then I had trouble with StockSPL. I did not want to use SEUS because I couldn't think of that as a solution. So I flash SPL like you would flash a ROM. Then the Xperia stuck in bootloader mode. Then I installed SEUS and upgraded ROM. So in the end I had newest ROM and StockSPL (72.000) and I could send it in. Hopefully they repair my cracks in case...
Good luck with your one! Do it like harvey says...
