best cases and covers for HD2 - HD2 Accessories

I have been thinking about buying a case for my HD2.I have spotted a particular leather flip case on ebay.My friend has this particular flip case however iv noticed that it has plastic frames where the phone fits in very tightly. Is it possible that such a case could damage the HD2 screen because of the tight fitting?

i think you posted in the wrong section mate!
ontopic: i don't think that the touchscreen will be damaged by a tight fitted case. i wear the hd2 with other things in tight pockets and never had a problem even if the display is under pressure. i think it's very robust!

I dont think that assumption is correct.I have my screen damaged due to keeping in tight pockets. The pressure results in a newton ring which is kind of ring resembling oil leaking on the screen.
Fortunately the screen was replaced by the service centre but they have asked for the phone not to be kept in jeans pockets.

case
I use "Piel Frama iMagnum" it has rigid sides that hold it in, that is 1 of the reasons I bought it, great protection. I used 1 on hd also, no problems at all, very protective case.

I got this case - fits nice and snug and yet doesn't make it too much thicker. It protects the HD2 from the sides etc by clipping a plastic surround on it, and the case it then attached to that. Used a similar one on my Touch Pro and had it for a year or more with no problems:

You can check the cases thread which is contributed by many users.
tons of info, but worth looking if you got some spare time.
for me this is a good case, for protection purposes whilst not in use, and also when i do use the phone, it's not bulking the phone too much.

just a classic leather pouch, though I have other choices with universal pouches, but this one has a tight fit to it, I also get free shipping and a free leather keyring. Why not huh?

HTC Case
Since in my country the official HTC representative refuses to import accessories at all (phones are more profitable, can you imagine that)
i had to find an alternative, and it turned out to be an excellent one:
Its a Case Logic GSM case, model CL-704SPH. 10 €, genuine leather, hidden magnet closure, belt clip, Leo fits perfectly.

Can you post a link to this case, I can't seem to find it on-line. thanks......

Since the US version won't include a slip cover (T-Mobile has instead opted for a gel case), I went ahead and bought the HTC one included with the Euro versions. I'm not a fan of cases, and I kinda got used to the slipcover my G1 came with.

Honeycomb Crystal Case (Rubberdized)
Heyy.. Anyone tried http://www.amazon.com/Honeycomb-Crystal-Slip-Smoke-Grey/dp/B0007PLUWA/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1268195842&sr=8-7 yet? Seems pretty neat. Rubberdized and comes in many colours!

Hmmm, strange, I cannot find it either on the Internet. And yet I bought it in the store. It is original, for sure... Maybe some kind of CEO version.

Are the dimensions for Tmobile HD2 and Euro Hd2 the same with regards to button placement and shape? Looking to buy zagg or something else similar for this baby when tmo usa releases theirs..
thanks

Ok so HTC has the USA version listed at
122 mm x 67 mm x 11 mm
The Euro version or telstra version is
120.5 mm x 67 mm x 11 mm
.
LOL Geez......which is it?

I dont see why HTC would make the USA version 1.5mm longer I mean what would they need all that extra space for lol. Also a whole new version of cases would have to be made just for the USA model let alone car kits.
I guess your best bet is to email HTC support and ask if in fact there is a difference between the 2 models.
Mark.

You're right.... doesn't make sense.
The weight on the euro version is 157 grams with battery....
HTC has the USA version at 157 grams with battery as well. A little extra length would show a difference in weight.

I sent HTC an email. Here is what she had to say....
Me - Hello, Your Telstra HTC HD2 (t9193) and Euro HTC HD2 (t8585) version... the dimensions for both phones are
120.5 mm x 67 mm x 11 mm
The USA HTC HD2 from tmobile on your site is listed as
122 mm x 67 mm x 11 mm
Is that really the case? Why the 1.5mm difference between the two? Is this a typo on the HTC.com website? I'm in this situation where I would like to buy a protective cover for this phone but am unable to because of this little difference. This information should be plenty to help you make a decision for me.
Her - Hello Duc,
I understand you have an interest in the HTC Touch HD 2 and you were wondering about the difference in the specifications. I have found the specifications for the US version but there maybe a difference in dimension due to the battery size. If you need to purchase an accessory, you need to be sure that you are looking for device specific accessories. If you have a carrier branded device, you need to look for accessories for that device.
Duc, I thank you for contacting HTC and please feel free to send another email if you have any other questions. In order to improve our service, I would like to invite you to participate in a survey on the worldwide HTC website at http://survey.htc.com/worldwide.
Me - Ok...so..... if battery size is probably the culprit in the possibility that the dimensions of the USA HD2 is different than the EUro version. Why are both phones listed as 157 grams in weight? Even a little change in size could cause a shift in weight... am I not right?
Her - Duc, I appreciate you sending another email for further clarification about the device specifications. I understand your concern about the weight but the size may not translate into weight. Size does not always denote an increase in weight. If you still have a concern about accessories, you need to find device specific accessories to purchase. Thank you, Danielle HTC Technical Support
LOL - so.... lol.... whatever.... I went ahead and gambled by buying the body protectors for this phone. 50/50 its going to fit.

US version is bigger
I own both the Euro version And the US version of the HD2 and yes the US Version of the phone is a tad longer

US is bigger because of T-Mobile logo in front.

Stylus

hello!
I'm looking for a new stylus for my Advantage.
the original one sucks (broke one on the early days) and I have some Proporta old one that looks like this:

}
Please notice that this isn't a problem with my Proporta Stylus, but with everyone since I've tested more than one. That's perhaps the reason that proporta changed its stylus for a new one.
So, I'm looking for a new one, if possible 3 in 1 (pen, stylus and reset). Also, thinner than mine.
Can you point me one?
I haven't found anything good enough.
I also own a P3600 and I love the stylus (thin and durable).
Thanks in advance
Deiota
can you find DOPOD U1000 stylus, i think it's better...
hello,
i think is the same as ours... the top colour is different.. is not metal right?
thanks
deiota
I am using a stock stylus with a piece of tape holding the two pieces of it together I tried ordering the most decent looking 3 in 1 stylus that was clearly described as a replacement for htc advantage and dopod u1000....sadly when it arrived it was about 1 1/2 inches too long to fit in the advantage slot and even though it was metal it had a way cheaper feal than the stock one did. So im looking for a replacement factory stylus, I doubt any of the aftermarket ones would have as clean a fit as the original.

new stylus
hello.
just decided and bought 3 of this:
after receiving it I'll post a feedback.
best regards
Deiota
those look like the same 3-pack i purchased off ebay...they were pretty cheap build quality and they were too long to fit in the advantage stylus slide spot. But heres to hopeing that yours are different than the ones I tried. Please do let us know if they fit, and where you purchased them.
The one I bought is similiar to this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1x-3in1-Stylu...ryZ38983QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
is this equal to yours? did you buy from this seller? thanks in advance. if so, I cancel my order imediatlly. please answer..
deiota
Honestly, it looks like the same as what I got, but its very hard to tell from the picture. And i purchased mine from a totally different seller from china. Its likely that they are different from the ones I purchased...but that doesent mean they will fit....please keep us posted.

Hello!
I've bought mine over ebay, seller is maxpower-pc. Check the image:
Is similiar to Styra from Boxware. i dont know if its the same brand but is equal.
I must say that the stylus fits the advantage (I dont know if will be scratched, I'll tell you within a month or so...), but I'm very desapointed with it.
First, the seller took about a week to answer me, I had to call 3 times to Germany (found the number of MaxPower DE webstore), I live in Portugal, to ask them for the bank information so I make the bank transfer. The 3 stylus I bought cost 10,85 € with shipping costs!
After making the bank transfer, on 15/02 only yesterday the item arrived. ((
I've email them and the answer was pretty delayed...
I bought a lot of stuff over ebay, even China and USA stuff and I must say they can ship faster and the item arrives sooner than this.
When I open the envelope, I got pretty mad because I bought 3 Stylus and 2 of them were scratched (not one) and damaged... So, I only can use one, the other too are garbage.. ((
I don't know if boxware are equal to this but I regret the buying, since I had to wait too long, paid too much and had TOO much trouble for ONE stylus of bad quality.
Deiota
as far as ordering from "hong Kong" sellers, I think I am done, I went through the same stylus issues as you. Didnt even send them back for a refund due to all the trouble ( I think thats what alot of these crap sellers rely on, you, the buyer not bothering to return items). Second item, replacement battery, I honestly tried to find the best looking quality replacement battery...it comes in the mail and instead of having a hard shell like outer case on the battery, it has a sticker as the cover...and it just doesent fit in the battery tray of the advantage, it also has a plastic pin instead of a metal pin for the battery. Thumbs down on crappy import parts! I am just about to spend about 80 bucks on an oem battery and oem stylus pack from www.expansys.com
Expansys ROCKS
just thought I would let everyone know, that BOTH packs of stylus I ordered from expansys exceeded my expectations. I got a 3 pack of the ORA 3 in 1: literally 3 times the build quality of the one pictured above, the detachable piece is very snug and doesent feel like it would ever wear out, or pull off in the advantage. The second pack I purcahsed looked like an OEM 3 pack, however they offered them in two choices, one with a black end cap, and one with a white end cap, I am not sure if they are actual OEM stylus's....but they appear to be EXACTLY as the original stylus, clear plastic 1 piece, exact fit. I also purchased a replacement battery to have as a spare. The battery is Perfect as well, nothing cheap in any of the builds. Keep in mind that these items are NOT CHEAP in price either, but after ordering stylus's and a replacement battery from ebay sellers and basically throwing them away (just total crap, battery and stylus off ebay) I was ready to fork over some cash to have decent replacement parts. Just my $.02
Custom made Stylus
I used to own an O2 Atom. It is now with my wife. Anyway, I personally make my own stylus to fit how I hold it. It doesn't have any moving parts and is made from wood. I experimented with hard wood, soft wood and I end up using bamboo instead. I sort of burn it with wax to make it more durable and have a hardwood like finish.
I'll try to make one for my Athena and see if I would have the same result. I'll try to have an aluminum one made. I think this easier to do because my father in law has the machine that can make it. However, the wooden stylus is a different story. It is hand crafted and usually takes me a day or 2 to make 1 and that is if I can find the time to make it. Anyway, if anyone's interested, I can post the results here as soon as I'm able.

Athena and handmade bamboo stylus. Hi-tech device with old school flare. That's great.
1 came across a cool generic stylus the other day (and since it was on sale at the time) 1 took a chance. 1 really like it for my Athena. It's called the picopen. Wouldn't work for a lot of folks. But it's very cool for me.

Its silver metal colored so doesnt blend into the ground when dropped. Plus, since it clips on to the outside of your case, you can always see whether you put it away or not.
One end, the magnetic female part, clips to a tiny Key ring while the other, male end, is magnetically attracted.

My goodness , i was planning to buy it from my local htc distributer . Now i think im planning to switch to others .
Is this case actually leather or plastic like the sleeve one from HTC.
I have ordered a Noreve one but was also looking at the HTC one.
I think you've just been unlucky????
I think you've just been unlucky????
I've had the same case for nearly 4 weeks now - constant use every day and its still as good as new!!!!
Reference the question above - the case is made from leather with a felt lining - and it fits the phone perfectly without increasing its size too much - so unless your happy with something more bulky I strongly recommend this case..... really!!!!
As I've said - I think you've just been unlucky and you should ask for a replacement.....

Oic , i think i will reconsider again if you said like this . May be just sometimes we were unlucky !!!!
I looked at mine again yesterday in more detail. The right hand strap that has failed is considerably thinner and "weaker" than the other side. I am therefore not surprised that this happened.
Have ditched mine, gone back to a more secure case until the Noreve comes in. Not really prepared to risk a £500 phone in a case that can fail like this one just has.
The annoying thing is that, from a design perspective, its quite a good case. Just seems there are quality issues with it.

Looks like a nice case!! i didnt even know htc did cases!! lol
(I know its broke, but does anyone have a lin for a UK Supplier, or the name of the case so i can have a look around at them.)

Re: My HTC Flip Case After 1 Day...
Is it the HTC HD2 Optional Leather Pouch PO S511? I think that, and the pouch are the only 2 "HTC cases" Here's a link to the Expansys page for it: http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=189819.
I had it on order to weeks from Mobilefun but I ended up cancelling bcause they were incapable of providing approriate stiock update information and ignored my requests for information.
I've currently got the Proporta Mizu Shell on order from Expansys.

If you take the time to look more closley they are not exactly the same but far from it. Im happy with my £29.95 Noreve Case you buy the £7.00 one. As i said before it is personal preference.

Case Mate case Official

Looks like case mate made official their case for the samsung focus (other than just by the AT&T store: http://www.case-mate.com/Samsung-Focus-Cases/Case-Mate-Samsung-Focus-Pop-Cases.asp
EDIT (on 11-01-2010):
Just received the black version from case-mate. The reason for the case being 30$-ish, it includes a screen protector kit. I can defenitively tell that the black version looks slicker than the red one. But that's a mater of personal taste. I mean it's slicker in a way that it look like it's more *part* of the phone, meaning its less obvious that you have a case on it. Anyway that's my 2 cents
Pretty nice, but 35 bucks??? lol Otterboxes go for that much.

I purchased the red pop case when i bought the phone and it was a nice case. Very sturdy but an extremely tight fit. So tight that when I tried to pry out my phone one day a small platic piece right under the micro usb cutout broke. The phone certainly pops out when you pullllllll it out. Either way iam dissapointed I wasted $35 bucs on that case but very content with my body glove snap case.
On a side note how efffed up is it that otterbox make a case the dell venue, which by the way hasnt had a wide release, and hasnt made one the the focus? Makes no sense...

This guy is selling them for about 22.00 has 275 of them lol
How do you guys like the way the buttons stick up? Are you hitting them by accident? Does it help in preventing hitting the camera or power button by accident?
I bought the Red case-mate on Cyber Monday when they were 50% off from AT&T site. I couldn't resist taking advantage of this deal and I needed some decent protection for my Focus. Although I kinda like the case, I might get the Otterbox when it comes out . My setup right now is this case with a Zagg InvisibleShield. I use Cat Crap paste lens cleaner to keep the screen clean and slick. Any case you buy is going to be a balance of form, fit, function, and price.
Form - This is a area of taste for most and differs widely between people. In general, I'd say this case provides reasonable protection at a relatively slim design and light weight. It feels good in your hand and is attractive. Not being a big fan of colored cases, the red is actually attractive (can't believe I'm saying that). Had the black one been available at the time, I would have definitely gone with that one. But the red is masculine and I can live with it. Agree with cubanaso about the delicacy of the small plastic strip between microusb port and front of phone (screen). This went under extreme stress when I put the phone in and I thought I was going to break it (most likely because I didn't put it in the best way). Thankfully it flexed but didn't break. My suggestion would be to pay the most attention to this area when installing phone. Because of the shape of the phone, the natural instinct is to put the bottom side in the case first. Might want to try putting the top side in first and flex the bottom instead .
Fit - snug fit and definitely isn't going anywhere. Feels like a part of the phone. I actually removed it to instal microusb card, then put it back it. It is a challenge, but not impossible. Like I stated before, you have to be super sensitive to the case's thin plastic strip near microusb port. Overall fit is excellent if you don't plan on taking it on and off.
Function - I've actually dropped it from about 5 feet and it was fine. No damage to case of phone. I'd say the protection level is above average but not Otterbox Defender level. It is probably comparable to the Otterbox commuter series. Minor scratches to back of phone, but still looks relatively new after a month. As far as the buttons go, the case-mate setup actually works quite well. The protrude just the right amount to where you know where they are without having to look at the phone. I can feel the correct orientation of my phone and upright it without looking at it. Big plus. But they take just enough intentional push to where I have yet to accidentally turn off the phone. Not even once. The execution of the buttons (and the side grip as a whole) is probably the biggest plus of the case-mate Pop! Case. Who knows, if Otterbox takes to long, I just may stick with the Pop! Case. I'm not a huge fan of a Red case (by any manufacturer), but this one is actually a good one and is starting to grow on me.
Price - As of right now, I wouldn't pay retail for this case. There was a time when this was the only decent case imo and it was only offered on AT&T site. This is not the situation anymore. Here is another site where it is discounted:

Forget $90. Forget $22. How about $10????? Free Shipping too.
Seems like a legit seller.
That's a deal right there.

i hope he sells the black ones soon
Got in the $10 red one today by USPS.
Pardon the lousy photos.
What I need now is a leather belt case that will hold it and close fully since it now measures 129mm x 69mm x 15.5mm with this case on it. My original size was 123mm x 65mm x 10mm.

i broke off the thin red strip where the micro usb slot is...this allows you to take the case off and put it back on with ease...case will still retain its tighness on the phone

In the process of taking a picture of the sd card for another thread here on the focus site under general, I took off the case to get to the memory card.
When I was putting the Case Mate back on, one end of the thin part broke. This is definitely a weak spot in the design.
Did you remove it (the red strip) completely, and if so did you cut away the rubber gasket or leave that?

i left the rubber there. The thin red strip makes it so hard to remove the case but without it, the rubber there can expand for easy removal.

Camera case

I bought this case from Jessops yesterday:
http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/products/lowepro/apex-60-aw-black--47601/show.html
It's the LowePro Apex 60 and is the smallest case you can get to fit this beast. Well at least that's what the Jessops salesman told me. But although it's a snug fit, the camera does squeeze in nicely.
The case is actually better quality than I expected, It has 1 divider inside and 2 internal pockets, also has a rubber base plate and a stow-able waterproof canopy, a belt fastener and a neck strap.
Pretty good value in my opinion.
Anyone know of a case for this that would let it hang off your belt?
Actually the case described above does feature a velcro-secured belt-loop.

Entirely not obvious, but once you pointed it out and I did a little snooping, you are correct. My concern/complaint is that I'd ideally like something that is easier to open when it's hanging off my belt, but I suppose I can keep looking and get something to get me by in the mean time.
Thanks!
I agree - this case, whilst snug in two dimensions, does feel a little fat along the lens axis direction, too. A simpler velcro-top belt case would be better for quick access, imho.
Lowepro Newport 30
Picked up the Lowepro Newport 30 at Best Buy here in the US - comes in 3 or so colors - and fits the camera quite well. It's not too padded so it's overall not terribly larger than the camera. It has a belt strap.
The reason I chose the LowePro Apex 60 is the fact it has extra internal compartments, a rubber bumper base and a waterproof cover yet still be very compact, quality materials and really good value. I managed to get it on special offer for £21 though I think it's around £28 now (but probably available elsewhere cheaper)
See the Jessops video for this case:
http://www.isitetv.com/4955943bc34e...re=VIDEO-_-PRODUCTSDETAILS-_-ALOWEBC205116013
Well worth it in my opinion.
Screen protection

Funny that, I can't seem to actually find those for sale anywhere. Though I have been looking on Amazon and I suppose it's more likely it's buried somewhere on the AT&T site.
The only official accessory I see on either the AT&T or Samsung site is a screen protector. I'm currently using a small cheap CaseLogic camcorder case that was in a discount bin at Staples. It is bigger than I'd like, but at least it is big enough to hold the camera.
What I would like to know is what happened to this wall of accessories Samsung showed off:

Would like to know this as well. Picked up my Galaxy Camera today at AT&T and they had no cases. Went to a couple other Cell Phone Accessory stores and nothing. Nothing on Amazon. Makes me wonder if they decided they weren't going to sell enough to make it worth even a minimal order of the cases...

Search google for "Samsung Black Pouch - Samsung Galaxy Camera", you will find a case for it.
However, I order it on Dec 9 at AT&T, I have not shipped until (Dec 13) now.
About original case: do you know when we can buy?

Id assume thoose would be mockups of proposed accessories, and Samsung will only start making them if the camera proves successful

These seem to fit the dimensions of the camera, (I measured the one I got today) -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Canber...SRKQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1355781564&sr=8-2 - could be a little loose inside
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Canber...1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1355781564&sr=8-2-fkmr0 - could be a little tight inside.
I'm actually just gonna go down to my local PCWorld tomorrow and test a bunch of bags and see which fit this baby the best.

Those do point to genuine Samsung accessories (though cant seem to find on insight.com). I found them on a french website -
http://eng.estock.fr/basketadd.php?partnumber=EFC-GC1BBEGSTD - Samsung Case for Galaxy Camera
and
http://eng.estock.fr/basketadd.php?partnumber=ETC-GC1WBEGSTD - Samsung strap for Galaxy Camera LOL 17 Euro for a STRAP
I went go pcworld and tried on a bunch of cases, and got the Lowepro Tahoe 30. It fits the camera snugly and has a small pocket on the outside for an extra memory card and/or battery.
Pcworld is selling the camera in a bundle with the lowepro apex 20aw, which is way too small. I tested the 30aw and it was too small, and the 20aw is smaller than the 30aw.

info on the illusive "Bodyglove Case"

Normally these kind of things are not worthy of a thread but I had a hard time finding this case so hopefully I can help with this thread.
As of today, you can not find this on ebay, amazon, or other web stores found through google search
The only known website that has this is sprint.com and bodyglovemobile.com and they are both out of stock. I saw them in stock around 11/12 on both site so it's not those "we haven't updated our website" thing. It really is out of stock.
I called 7 official sprint stores in Los Angeles and only one store has it.
If you have a hard time finding it. Do a search on yelp and call around your local official Sprint store and refer to part number CZS5478Q. Non-official store are not owned by sprint so they will mostly not carry this accessory, don't waste your time on those.
The price is $24.99 + tax, sprint store currently has a 20% on entire accessory order if you buy 2 or more accessories. If you get a $9.99 screen protector you will end up paying $27.94 + tax. Just something to think about.
This case will fit Sprint, ATNT, TMobile version of the Note II and very likely international version as well. I believe there are also T-Mobile version and ATNT version of the bodyglove however I find the sprint model most pleasing to my eye.
Last thing I want to add is that this case is very slim. Doesn't add too much thickness like generic ebay tpu cases. The protruding protection edge to the screen is only about 1mm.
photos are not from me but from another XDA member cac9478 all credit goes to him for the wonderful photos.

Nice pictures... and firearms :good:
How does the back feel in the hand? Looks like kind of a rough texture.
Back feels great. It's not as slippery as the battery door. This thing is also super slim; exactly what I wanted. Better grip and a little extra protection without added bulk. Only thing less bulky would be a skin. If you're prone to phone drops this may not provide the best protection but I'm careful with my toys so I'm not worried. Had my friend who works for sprint pick one up for me. Saved me a few bucks

feels great, I change phone and naturally the case as well.
The embedding diamond pattern is about 1/4mm for the "height".
It is not rough on the hand.
This is the best tpu case that I ever purchased.
Looks very nice. Going between this and the Blue/Black Seidio Active Case w/ Kickstand. Called all the local Sprint stores, no stock. I have a cheap $3 case on my Note 2 right now that I will keep using until I can get a hold of something better.
Here is a link on Sprint's Webpage if anyone needs it.

if any of you guys are interested, i have a bodyglove case i got from sprint store couple weeks back.
I bought a case from seidio and i am planning to return bodyglove case back to the store.
If any one is interested, i will sell it to you for the same price i got it +shipping 2.95. we can do paypal.
Hmm...I really want the case shown in the photos of the OP. I am investigating and will wait around with one of the cheap cases til it is available. It's GORGEOUS!!
Ok, just found one (the last one) in a local Sprint store. Still interested in finding this online though. My girl will want one of these for sure!!
Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I did manage to grab the last one at my local sprint store and grabbed one and I am happy with it. Wish the edges were a little firmer but it feels nice and doesn't add any bulk. HATE paying 25 for a thin piece of plastic but i guess it is what it is.
