wireless tether

Hello I am having an issue with wireless tether 1.6. On any of the sprint 2.1 roms I try it freezes my phone and reboots when I stop tethering. Was wondering if there was a fix I didn't see when I looked around. It works fine until I go to stop. The only Rom I can get it to work is the my touch 3g port.

Sounds like you have bigger problems if the only rom you can get to work is the mytouch port.
When you flash a rom, go into the Wipe menu and wipe everything except battery stats.
If it still doesn't boot repartion the SDcard to Fat ONLY.
If it still doesn't boot, you have some issues somewhere.
I took care of a lot of stupid issues I was having by running the 2.1 RUU and re-rooting and flashing the rom again.

I've been having the same problem. It works just fine until I want to stop using it then it locks my phone, doesnt reboot though. It will sit there locked for 30 minutes if I let it, I have to pull the battery and reboot
There was a market update this morning though, haven't tried it yet with the new version.

I don't think he meant the mt3g is the only rom he can get to work. I think he meant mt3g is the only rom that wireless tether works properly on..

Are you running kernel .29?
I'll go even futher...are these kernels SDX kernals?
Edit: And even though it does freeze my phone if i stop it...its still a tether. and i love my phone being over clocked. so if i have to restart my phone instead of stopping the tether, its a small price to pay!
I am running the toast oc kernel. And yes I meant the tether only works on the mt3g. I ran the oc kernel on the 2.1 roms also that's actually when it started. I went from the oc mt3g Rom to aloysius 2.1 oc version and it quit working. So now I'm back on the oc mt3g Rom .

Well i think most ROMS run the .29 kernal while mt3g runs the .65 kernal. Sounds like its the .29 kernal.

Try this one it works like a charm xP.
and of course make sure your rooted
Edit:
Ive had problems in the past with wireless tether for root. this one works like advertised and works wonders no hot phone either
Ok Tyvm ill have to recover and install it then see if it works. And the kernel says .29 on the mt3g Rom so its the same one on both.
What I usually did to solve this was close the app with a task killer and it was ok with me. It's a known issue. However the problem I'm experiencing now is that If I want to change the SSID Name or any setting in the WI-FI app it takes me to a black screen labeled SU Permission? Suggestions anyone? oh and btw no one can see my her0 =/ help!
It works fine for me. I've used it several times and never had it lock up on me when I tried to stop it. I'm running the newest Damage Control 2.09.01 and android-wifi-tether 1.6.

I've always had trouble with 1.6 seems to work great for some people i linked the one for 2.0.2 same version for the evo and it works great even had a battery temperature shown in the program
Well the 2.02 doesn't work either. It freezes as soon as I give it root access.

Actually, the my touch rom uses .29 kernel, but version 65, the others are like version 83 or something. Only basic difference is no bfs or comp cache

[Q] WiFi not Working on N1 with CM7 RC1

I have recently rooted my N1, and used RA to flash the radio. When I install CM7, though, my WiFi says all networks are out of range and does not detect new ones. When I restore Froyo, it works again. CM7 is amazing and I want to fix this so I can use it. Any ideas?
Works fine on mine. Did you try wiping it?
Fixed
Thank you, Rusty!
A wipe got the wireless working.

Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance

any help available? sorry to bump
First thing I would try would be fix permissions (you can find this option in ROM manager) and if that doesn't work then I would just do a clean install.
I had the same problem, bad blocks and FC's. I spent hours trying everything I could to fix it. My phones been half busted for about 2 months. Someone suggested that I try this and it worked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717870
I didn't think it would but it did. It brought my phone back to stock 2.1. I grabbed z4root to root it, then reflashed hboot, radio and went back to CM7 nightly. All is well with the world again.
Good luck.

(help) Droid 1 root

Im at a beach house in north Carolina for a week and i rooted my aunts Droid 1 (i have a Samsung fascinate rooted with cm7 and some oc kernel, i have a bit of experience with android) She had stock 2.2.2 and i originally tried to root with z4root 1.3 then i read up it doesn't work with that android version so i then found a guide to root from whatever android version (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html) and i followed every step perfectly and everything went smoothly then i booted to see if it worked and su was there so i tried to download rom manager to test the su but it wouldn't cause apparently there was no data... I had perfect cell signal could make calls and whatnot but no 3g data so i broadcasted wifi on my phone and got it that way and installed cm7 and some other kernel thinking it would fix the data issue but it didn't... Im posting this long story so u know exactly what i did and if there's a way to fix this 3g data issue please help me.. I've reflashed many different versions of cm7 and also rsdlite a stock .Sbf file for 2.0.1 and 2.1 still no data please help.

wanted to make sure before i went crazy on phone lol
ugh great i made a backup of rom now im stuck in bootloop, trying to figure out how to get out of it
factory wipe or reflash
Ok saved my phone with v20c firmware and got it rooted im trying to figure out how to install nightly its in iso format, do i mount it and run it or is there somehting special i need to do i dont wanna make same mistake again lol, oh also for some strange reason when i try to go to market to download anything it says i got insufficient space which i have everything formatted and did mount unmount still wont let me download.
nevermind on market i emptied cache fixed that
you should be able to install rom manager (clockwork mod) then install the zip through that (after reboot).
you wouldn't have to change baseband or anything like that.
ok got the newest cm7 nightly on and reinstalled android market i tried reputting in my apn info wont save tried reinstalling still wont save, is there something special i need to do to make apn settings save so i can reconnect to att network? I hope i dont have to start all over again >.< this is a nightmare.
