Right then with all the controversy with GOOGLE not being happy with cyan distributing there apps with his roms....
I HAVE THE SOLUTION
This Software will Take a BARE BONES ROM (no google apps included) and will basically aslong as you have a back up copy of these google apps will UnZip the ROM, Stuff it with your backup apps, ReZip the ROM and SIGN it so you have a fully fleshed out ROM to go out and update
Just to add this is just a test app to demonstrate a method to combat google threats make sure u check back when cyan releases bare bone app for update
HAPPY DAYS

Wow that's awesome! Great job Will test it out once cyan releases bare-bones 4.2
just download it !thanks .great work .how do you make it work and copy your google apps for back up ? will this work on hero roms if they strip down to ?thanks for your time and work

Does this only do Google Apps ?
or can it account for proprietary HW Manufacturers supplied files as well???
~enom~
There are four simple steps on how to use the program which you will see once you open it, you must already have the google apps backed up as i cannot distribute them(obviously lol) but there are scripts available around here which will pull all the google apps from your current rom and back them up, i may include this next time i get a chance to program
Glad to see we are already getting solutions to bypass Google's lockdown. Just happy that I already have the ROM with the new market and YouTube

it will push whatever apps you have backed up into system/app then zip it up and sign it ready for updating. tho i would not place any old app in there because it will save them all in the phones memory
Nice going. :]

You need to coordinate with Farmatito and his thread <HERE>. He has developed a script that backs up all the necessary files. But they don't all exist in /system/app. We need to all coordinate on these things so that effort doesn't end up getting duplicated and wasted.
This should be migrated into CM-Updater
Does this mean everybody is happy again?

Good point i think if were going to use an app to do this we will need to pull in all our efforts together so we can have the full monty in one app,
just looking through that script though and im wondering if it is actually necessary to pull all of those apps? i think it would be necessary to chat with cyan to get the specific apps that he will be removing from his roms, but this is a start.... at the moment this app is useless as there are no bare bone roms lol but its a light in the right direction

For the backing up part its just a matter of updating the lists of files and
the name of the archive. The infrastructure, error checking and testing
is already there. The needed binaries (zip) are compiled and tested.
BTW do you prefer zip or tar.gz archives (can do both) ?

a few weeks ago, I made a post about the "smoothness" of certain roms. I have come to the conclusion that the drc83 (or w/e it's called) version of donut is much smoother than the aosp version. is there any way for a noob like me to put the bits of drc 83 into a rom like super d? what is responsible for things like menu and window animations? is it as simple as flashing a kernal? if so, where do I find the kernal. if not, how should i go about doing this and what are the tools that I need? if it is impossible for a noob, are there any devs willing to do this?
The animations are in the frameworks folder but you can use metamorph to use the anim in S-D too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589315
Super-D is slower b/c it has a whole bunch of stuff back-ported from eclair and Enom doesn't which makes his rom quicker.I'm not saying one if faster or slower but the eclair stuff is making his rom slower, he does it since people will probably want it.

DL the blue anim(used in drc):

Goto market:
1. DL andexplorer

3. Open metamorph, it will check for root
4. reopen then seach for the blur anim on your SD.

the only reason I mentioned kernal was b/c I flashed a king rom once and it had a bunch of choices for kernals. one of them made the rom significantly smoother.

Copying animations isn't going to do anything useful. If the system stutters, its going to stutter no matter what you feed it.. even tasty kernals.

Does anyone know how to update the gmail app to 2.2.1?
I tried using the one leaked on Incredible forum (link below) with no success
Tried extracting the gmail.apk from the zip file and using rootexplorer to replace but still loads gmail 2.2
I am running frf91 deodexed - Thanks!
Incredible forum: h##p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746644
Do you know what the difference is between 2.2 and 2.2.1?
I think it has been updated within the 2nd edition of the FRF91 gapps...

Looking inside the zip seems like gmail.apk is still ver 2.2
2.2.1 should be a bit smoother and reply floats and stays on top.

Perfect, thanks!
I had a noob moment (actually mostly a stupid moment)
I used root explorer to move gmail.apk from zip to system apps folder but never thought I actually need to install it.
I then installed it using astro and everything seems to be working.
Is it okay to do it that way? Can you just install it like normal apk from sdcard?
2.2.1 seems nice. The biggest difference is a large reply arrow on top. When you press it reply, reply all, forward scroll in. This is a bit nicer than before.
Thanks fir the help!
No problem,
As for installing from the sdcard, I dont think you'll have a problem.
I usually just adb push any system app.

Yes you do. But, you may want to try and extract Gmail.apk throw it on your SD card and install it. It should work.
For whoever wants the new version of gmail 2.2.1.apk
here is a link

Thanks!
Thanks guys! I was looking for this too!
Steve in CT
Has this gone OTA yet? Why wouldn't we get this?
Is this still in Beta or something? Is that why it hasn't been pushed out to 2.2 users? Or perhaps it's getting pushed to all NON-ROOT 2.2 users...?? IDK.
YES YES it worked perfectly, installed upgrade and now I'm playing with the big boys lol.... as this is official from Google themselves, how come were all having to get this from XDA and we didn't get this from Google themselves?? odd.. either way I'm happy I have it!! Thanks guys!!!
BTW where was this file acquired from?? A Froyo 2.2 rom from the nexus one?? If so that's odd b/c I just upgrade to Froyo on my EVO directly from Sprint/HTC. I'm running official stock Froyo that my EVO recieved OTA and I didn't get that GMAIL update....
Taken from an Incredible 2.2 ROM, I believe.

How stable is it and any ideas when it would be released officially? Will it be possible to roll back afterwards?
Seems as stable as the original client, and yes, you can roll back.
As for officially rolled out, who knows, if ever. Maybe it'll appear in the Market without telling anyone, like the improved search widget.
Still has the multiple account sync problem that was introduced in 2.2

Which nightly are you running, as I don't have the same Kernel version as you. I am running 2.6.69.6. It works, just features in Settings keep force closing.

Message from Mendozinas on the other thread:
sorry for all, we have some server side isues and all coocked files are corrupted.

I will try again later, and advise if I still need help.
Ok so im running CM6 6.0.2.1 "stable" from 9/12 I believe. it is not a nightly.
I downloaded the rom, extracted the res file and I got an error after the zip was compiled (at the pick up site)
after that I tried it with the res provided for cyanogen roms and it compiled fine, I installed it fine. When i rebooted I got a red circle with an exclamation mark.
i am getting the rom manager force close as well on liberated... not a major deal ... everything you can do in rom manager you can do in clockwork... back ups and restores...but on a lighter note i love the site cooked me up a nice little meal there... although after i d/l my framework res file and installed it the UOT Kitchen went offline at 2:30pm PST on 10/13/10 with a statement of
"Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen
We are sorry, server experience some technical problems.
All coocked files are corrupted.
You can get a lot of FC's and corrupted Ringer volume progbar.
We are fixing this now. Kitchen will be online ASAP.
Follow us at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775970"
may want to redo your meal there after things get back up
ok update... UOT kitchen is back up and i redid my meal and no more force closes!
Tried this again today, worked perfectly with the CM6 liberty res file.
I imagine that we can use this for the Liberated ROM as well? Been wanting the sort circle battery for a while, will get rid of the widget fire me.
I think I'm getting way ahead of myself, but is this only for rooted Aria's? Or can I use the kitchen to customize my stock phone?
Give me a tiny break, okay, I was using a Moto RAZR 2 less than 48 hours ago!

Root only... I don't think you can push something adb without being rooted, although I might be wrong!

I think you're right... I had come to the same conclusion earlier today. Thanks though!
so, im running CM6.1.0 RC
every time i upload my framework (which is custom), i am getting an error log file and it will not work for me!
-sighs-
all i want is a circle battery... it would take me a year to edit the files!!
UOT with FR008
Hi,
With FR008, I could not get it to work after I download the UOT ROM (with circle battery only) and installed it through clockwork, I managed to get to this message "Installing: SDCARD:UOT-.....zip.... Install from sdcard complete". But whenever I selected "go back", my screen would go blank and I could not get to the reboot menu.
Please help.
As most of you all know i am an avid phone explorer. Lol. Yes corny as it sounds, but i can get all sorts of things one would not normally try to flash to flash and actually boot. Myself and proto devano (sp) are going to port this Android Q leaked image or whatever soon as we get it. For the op6 and op6t..if anyone happens to have any insight as to where to procure this, please lemme know..
i have already flashed the pixel 3 and 3xl system images and gotten them to boot on my op6t. Not the port, the firmware. My friends are aware of the progress. Calls, web, and text work. Navigation is broken but i do know how to fix it with a few bits of hackery. But its not at the top of my list as i have been source building again and trying to learn new device bring up, which i hadnt done before. ( I have built roms but always a continuation of an existing project). So this will be my next port soon as we get the image, payload.bin, etc. If u can help, great, let me know. We can bring Q to oneplus, early.

I'm already excited to see how far the progress on this phone has gone when I get back! Hey...I see I am a little late to this party, but I read recently we are getting a dev preview of Q "officially." I found a link to a GSI zip and a recovery (not the mega one in this post), but there is no installation guide. I did this with P on my last phone (G5+), so I know there is a little more to the process than a simple flash. I am pretty sure I should not post the link, but PM me if you can shed any light. Thanks in advance...

Yeah I tried both, and with 9.012 and beta 7. Gonna try with custom vendor and stuff..
And why would you port a leaked/early/beta version of system? What's the logic?
