Is UK Picassa sync issue fixed with new roms? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There is an issue in the UK with people with googlemail addresses not being able to sync the gallery with Picassa (issue 6431 on the Android issues list, can't post link).
I am yet to root as I'm waiting a few weeks to make sure there are no defects where I might need to return the phone. Could someone in the UK who has rooted advise if either the leaked ERE36B or EPE54B roms resolve this issue?
Thanks

Calendar sync not working on G1 with Cyanogen 4.0.2

Hi , I hope someone will be able to help me:
I have a rooted G1 which runs Cyanogen 4.0.2 ROM, before this one 4.0.1.
Everything went fine until yesterday or the day before, when I noticed my calendar wasn't up to date anymore. I connected the G1 to my pc and started 'adb logcat', this is what is logged when trying to sync the calendar:
(note that I have replaced my real email with [email protected] for privacy reasons)
Code:
D/SyncManager( 146): failed sync operation authority: calendar account: [email protected] extr
delay: 0 key: {authority: calendar account: [email protected] extras: [force=true ]} rowId: 1
After some searching I found this problem mentioned before but no concrete solution to this...
I've tried clearing the calendar cache as described here to no avail.
I also tried a complete system wipe but the same problem persisted.
To make sure that it wasn't something at the google server I fired up my HTC magic which is still running stock software, and it synced fine right away.
So this definitely has to do something with my G1, only if anyone could point me in the right direction...
BTW:
Gmail and contacts sync goes just fine!
Thnx in advance!
Cyanogen calendar sync...
Hi all,
Exact same problem here, HTC Magic. I am new to the hacking, rooting, cracking in the android world but installing Cyanogen 4.0.2 was very easy with recovery flasher. ( http://gizmodo.com/5341915/android-hacking-for-the-masses)
I can not speak for any other versions but this version is great except for the sync of Google calendar. This also explained why my battery did not last for a day while is was doing nothing much. Calendar kept syncing without result but was trying all the time.
I hope that Cyanogen can fix this and if he can not or will not that's ok with me. I a happy that there are people who can make things better than they originally were. Good job! However calendar is important to me so perhaps i will switch to another ROM.
@bunster:
Are getting the same error when start 'adb logcat'?
Thanks for mentioning the battery life part, mine had bad battery live to but I failed to make the link to the sync problem, I was on the verge of replacing my battery LOL!
Just upgrade to 4.0.3.1 this morning, problem persisted
@Bunster: Are you using google hosted apps or a regular gmail account?
Because a colleague of mine also has Cyanogen 4.0.2 running on his G1, and his calendar syncs fine, the only difference is that he's using a regular gmail account while I'm using hosted apps account...
I have the same problem.
Previously with JF 1.5 the same calendar of my google account was syncing just fine.
Hope there is a solution soon..

Are you running google apps or regular gmail account?
Updated to 4.0.4, problem not gone...
I found something else:
When looking at the logcat output there's a URL in there which points to one of my calendars (there are URL's for each of my calendars - 5 in total). And when I try to enter this URL into my browser, it tells me that '[email protected]' doesn't have the necessary rights to view that calendar.
However I am the admin of my domain so I should be able to view all my calendars...

There has to be something else involved...

Yeah, nothing good however...
Check this link.
It's an issue that has been file on the GoogleCode page for CyanogenMod ROM.
If look at Steve's (=Cyanogen) post you'll see what i mean:
4.0.4 won't be updated. Any calendar/sync related issues for the next release should
be reported as an Android (Google) bug.

So he's basically saying it's not his fault but a Calendar bug and we have to take it up with Google.
Google off course won't do sh*t about this since it works perfectly on stock ROMs and even other custom ROMs.
As a software developer/tester I can understand that this bug is situated in the Calendar app itself, and since Cyanogen received the C&D letter from Goog he can't/does not want to modify and/or distribute this app.
However, since this only occurs on his ROM, it must be something he did that triggers this bug. So what I'd like to see from Cyanogen, isn't a fix in the calendar app, but rather a workaround in his ROM...
I've read that deleting all recurring events will 'fix' the problem, however that's not an option for me since I use a seperate calendar to store all birthday dates for friends and family in (birthdays being off course yearly recurring events, under normal conditions )
I hope Cyanogen reads this and will provide a fix somehow.
As I said i'm a software developer and I know it's f*ucking frustrating if you have to deal with other people's mess, but I think it's clear we shouldn't expect a fix from Google on this one...
so let's hope only in a cyanogen work... it seems to be the only solution for continue to use this fantastic rom with the calendar sync...
4.2.4

Missing Apps in Market after update to FroYo

So I updated to FroYo manually thanks to the methods posted here. I've nearly reinstalled all my apps with the exclusion of one; Square. I cannot find it in the market and thought maybe the dev pulled it, but it shows up in 2.1 and web-based market browsers, just not in 2.2. Anyone else experiencing this? Can I just force the apk onto the phone somehow?

Same here.. seems like the copy protected apps are having problems.
This is not root or something else regarded - everyone has these issues.
Regards
Great to hear I'm not alone, but being an early adopter can sometimes blow (in the BAD way) =\
Is this being discussed in another thread? I did a search prior to posting and came up empty
EDIT: Mods, thanks for moving this to the appropriate forum. I've seen mention of this issue appear in various threads, though no thread of it's own. Will wait for devs to catch up with 2.2
I reported the same problem on modaco last night... I'm sure google will enable de protected apps this week, just a slight oversight on their side.
i had same problem, just put them apk on your sd card and install it. if it is being a stubborn app like a certain few just copy/paste or move them to data/private-app and install from in there. should take care of it 4 u.
Same problem here (Tapatalk Pro and Extended Controls missing).
when you create an app you can set a max api level to support, or not.
applications that have that set won't show on newer devices.
exzeus, square, and a few others seem to have done it...
give them about a month or so and you should see them come around.

My App ICE Donate wasn't found either.. I removed the copy protection until Froyo is officially listed - it can be found and downloaded again
I'm missing cachemate, I only see the free version and I've check the box for all sources for apps. astro will not install from my backups

This cant be the reason. i did only do signin via edge!
Having the same issue here. Wife's N1 can't find WeatherBug Elite, or the Helix Launcher in the market. Even after reboot.
Same. Paul actually fixes it in his roms by changing the Rom fingerprint. Some of the unofficial nexus updates he integrated did the same thing to protected apps. Once fingerprint was changed, it seemed to have done the magic. I'm guessing that he will do the same next week for froyo.
Same here my paid app wont show up which means I may be losing sales so I'm pissed right now
Yeah, so no MLB app at the moment... which makes me unhappy.
Any word on an official response from Google yet on this issue?

Froyo - Problems with Exchange Calendar

As soon as I updated my Nexus to the official release of Froyo, the exchange calendar worked great. No issues.
2 days ago, I wiped and flashed the Rodriguez ROM. Immediately, the calendar would not show any of my exchange meetings. The calendar is listed and shows it as "synced, visible"
Today, I wiped again and reflashed the official FROYO build (still on my sdcard). Set up my exchange. Same thing - no events are displayed.
I had someone send me a new invite and once I accepted, it showed up. But this was the only event displayed.
I created a new event and sent it back to him. Something went funky & it sent him 401 invites w/i 5 minutes. I eventually had to remove my exchange accnt from my phone for it to stop.
Any thoughts???
Submit the question to google, its something they should know before releasing 2.2 officially

Well, it is released officially to the Nexus. And it worked properly before... thats why I am confused as to what is causing this.
Nothing changed with my company's setup. All other Android phones (with Sense) are working fine w/ exchange.

Since when?
The leaked 2.2 was not "official" according to what google and members here are saying.
Maybe this is one of the bugs they are trying to resolve before officially releasing it for the N1 (or any other phone).
It might be worth adding your experience.

No it is not officially released to the N1 - the FRF50 was a preview/rc/testing release sent to a small group and not intended for the public release it got from someone pulling the URL from the logs.
The official OTA is being delayed until google irons out bugs and resolves performance issues (per a google employee's post on the Android help forums). They were hopeful it would OTA this week if the data that came back was good with the last release.
Haha, tough question. If it was entirely up to us, I'd say Definitely Yes! We have made some significant progress over the last couple of weeks and are now analyzing the data that is coming back. If the data looks good, then we will OTA (won't promise this week though!), otherwise this may take a bit longer.

@mr_christian: I was referring to Google as "us". I just want people to understand that we are not intentionally holding back the release. We work very hard on the platform for our customers to enjoy (including tasty names!), and would rather release it than not. That said, we will not release it until we are happy with it.
I am not at liberty to share details of what is being worked on, but at a high level we weren't happy with the performance and quality bar we had set for this release. There were also a few last minute bugs that cropped up and wanted to fix them before launch.
Hope that helps. Once again, we appreciate all the support and feedback!

Post about it on the Android forums if it's something you can recreate or supply information regarding what caused the problem. If it's something they can identify and resolve it will help everyone.
Sorry... my bad then. Been out of the loop as of late.
FWIW - I installed Kang-o-rama's Froyo and everything works fine now...just like before.
Something with Rodriguez ROM maybe? I mean, if it worked on stock 2.2 (and it does, I enjoy it myself) then it's not 2.2, but something else. Either bad flash, or something is up with the ROM. Check the ROM thread to see if anyone else has your problem.

email app won't let me go to xda-devleopers.com

When I receive a topic notification from XDA-Developers, my email app breaks the link into 2 separate links, neither one works. I would like to know if there is a fix for this issue. The problem affects every forum which I visit. It seems that the email.apk which I am using recognizes the equals( = ) symbol as a form of end-of-sentance punctuation instead of part of the hyperlink. Is there a better email app?
Which ROM are you using? I just checked my own XDA emails from my default email client (on Paragon RC6) and the links seem to work fine.
Like you say, try sending yourself a random made-up link that contains the '=' sign.
At that stage, I might want to try checking with the developer for your ROM, or I could find the email.apk that my ROM is using for you.
I had this problem in the stock 2.1 ROM and still have it in Cognition 4.1.1 using the default Mail client. Soon as it sees the = it breaks the link. This applies to all links not just xda.
From what I can see, this was a problem up until 2.2.1. 2.2.1is the first email.apk which fixed this issue.

I just did a new test. Cognition 4.1.1 does not have this issue. The old emails with these links are still broken but new ones coming through do not have the problem.

Replacement gallery.apk to enable picasa sync

Hey everyone,
so I was unhappy with the fact that I could not sync my Google+ albums to my Gallery app. Somewhere on the web I found another thread supplying a version of the gallery that needed to replace the original one (using Root Explorer and a little bit of fiddling I think), which worked great and I was happy.
Two days ago my phone was stolen though, and I'm currently setting up the new one - for the life of me I can't find the modified gallery.apk again though, and/or the thread showing where to get it and how to replace it to get Picasa sync back.
So does anybody here happen to know what I'm talking about and give me a hint on where to find the .apk and how to replace it to get Picasa sync back?
