did it work b4? I'm sure there is active synch (xp) or wmdc (vista/7) installed?
did you try another usb port (if possible also on another pc)? don't use hubs...
do you have a firewall that's interfering?
whats your config in start - settings - connections - usb to pc
is "Enable faster data synchronization" enabled? disable it
is start - settings - system - power - battery -> "When phone is on, don't charge the battery when connected to a PC." activated? deactivate it
gl
I have Win 7 and WMDC installed. I have USB charger to elektricity plug, if you understand, and it dont charge anyway. No PC, no elektricity. I tried a lot of roms, settings, but nothing help.

just did a little reg search
check these on your device
\HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\Battery\EnableUSBCharging (here it's on 1)
\HKLM\Software\OEM\USBToPC\SncMode (here it's on 2=>disk drive, 0 for active sync)
\HKLM\Software\OEM\USBToPC\EnableAdvancedChecked (here it's on 1)
\HKLM\Software\OEM\USBToPC\DisablePopUpUI (here on 0)
and connect your device to PC via USB and then soft reset x1, sometimes that works
I set it, but still same. I have pictures of my USB on board, disassembly. No oxidation.

yep, now it's accessible
but for me it looks good, but I'm no technician...
For me too, so it must be software problem, my guess bootloader or something like that.
Please clarify
You're saying that:
1. You can sync just fine.
2. You can not charge from your computer usb port.
3. You can still charge fine using the wall outlet/AC charger. (otherwise, how can you try many different rom if you're out of battery power)
4. What you want is to charge your phone and sync at the same time.
Am i correct? Please correct where i'm wrong.
My answers would be:
a. Modify your current active power plan, disable selective usb power down.
b. Make sure your usb port are USB version 2.0. Really old pc often have mixed usb1 and usb2 port, better read the manual.
c. Disable USB pop up selection on phone setting, make sure active sync selected. Also make sure to allow charging from usb in power setting.
d. Some mainboard are picky with certain usb device, if you or your friend have Powered usb hub, try that too.
Now, here's my advice.
Forget about charging from pc/laptop. When power saving kick in, vista/seven will power down that port. no more charging.
When Active sync kick in, charging stop, recharging again. If you're using any BT/Wifi/2g-3g/heavy workload, it's very likely that usb port won't be able to provide all the power x1 need. so what happend is while it's charging, somewhere in between it's actually charge-discharge cycle. That will kill your battery fast. Do search old posts from wm2003 age to understand better.
No, I am saying that:
I can not sync via USB.
I can not charge from PC.
I can not charge from wall outlet/AC charger. I have external USB charger and two batteries
Yes, I want sync my phone and charge (PC or wall outlet/AC). Are we clear now?
So it looks my USB on X1 is dead, but motherboard looks fine, and X1 shows me options after plug USB from PC, but its not working anyway. And in bootloader X1 detect USB too, but its all.
2 batteries and external battery charger. That explain my confusion.
One last thing, what method of flashing you use? Sd card method or romupdate/pc method?
Because, from my understanding if you can enter bootloader through pc utility, that means the data communication are fine. so usb port should be fine.
I'll try mine on win7 and see what i can do.
had my eyes on that rom too. i guess i should try that rom. i'll tell you asap. oh, since i'm on dial up, guess asap mean a few days.
I use SD card method. Let me explain the bootloader thing. When I go to bootloader, it shows tri color screen and it shows me on top some text (hardspl and other things..) and at bottom, it shows Serial text. If I plug USB into Xperia, it change from Serial to USB, Win 7 trying install drivers, but it fails. Its all. I try different roms, 6.5, 6.1 etc...
Ok, here's what i got so far.
Sync issues: 5 usb cable each from SE, nokia, shielded regular cable, cheap external hdd usb short cable, long slightly damage usb cable.
a. All cable show error or not recognized if connected through front panel pc case usb port. However phone display usb selection and of course none would work.
b. Connecting through mainboard rear usb port would work, and device detection and driver installation completed successfully (if you enable driver update auto download in device driver policy).
c. After driver installed properly, all cable work properly no matter which usb port (front, rear, hub) except wmdc (because i don't have it yet)
d. Wmdc version 6.1 from microsoft download center did'nt worked or installed correctly with no warning or whatever (no shortcut created, no entry in cp), even when that build worked on vista.
e. Wmdc that work ok must be downloaded from windows update optional tab. 2 update, 1 plain wmdc and 1 driver update for wmdc showing same d/l size.
f. after 2 hours, wmdc installed fine, but the other failed. No luck on retry. wmdc can detect the phone IF enable faster data sync not checked. However i don't have outlook so can't test sync result.
All cable worked after all that above.
g. I'm betting that in order to enable faster data sync required the driver update for wmdc.
Charge issues: Same cables, 1 SE Usb charger and car charger, 2 motorola.
a. All charger work properly.
b. Usb charging on front panel case show charging icon, however in about 30 minutes battery meter drop more than 10%, voltage dropped from 3.8v to 3.6+v.
c. Mainboard rear usb port can charge, but power output might a bit to low (around 250mAh left for the batt). With active 3g or wifi, not good.
Shall i continue the next step?
i think it's better to check wmdc and try another charger first.
I dont understand...I cant do anything with my USB on X1-no charge, no PC connection, nothing.
i think it's better to check wmdc and try another charger first.
>>I tried many chargers and many cabels, many computers, nothing.
battery pin
ok, the last thing i can think of is to check if there's power going or not.
do you have voltmeter (& know how to use)?
Do it at your own RISK..
a. remove bat. cover & battery.
b. notice there's 5 pin battery connector on phone,
like (+) TT T TT (-).
c. plug the charger on phone (without battery), using voltmeter get reading from the pin that i marked from L-R side (don't short circuit them).
like this .TT T TT. (don't do it like this T.T T T.T)
d. from what i've learn from batteries so far, the 2 (+) pin output 2 different voltage when connected to a single (-) pin. the other (-) pin either not used or probably for monitoring/controlling ic. i have no idea what the center for.
e. my reading from point c: 3.3v. no need to try the others. you don't want to kill your phone.
FYI, on full battery .TT T TT. = 3.3v, TT. T TT. 4.2v
if you didn't get proper reading, i believed it need proper service/repair job.
Sorry i couldn't be more helpfull. Best of luck to you..
dude, it just hit me. maybe we're thinking too much. most of usb problem i ever seen was worn out or bent pin inside the connector. have you look inside?
yeah, there is power going through USB, i checked 2 hours before...but i am stupid and i did stupid thing now..i flash via sd card stock spl, and now i cant boot into system, it always shows tri color screen, beacouse rom is not stock...

hello
I know it's a very weird problem, but maybe someone have any ideas.
Here are the facts:
1) I can charge my Tytn II from the A/C adapter (amber LED on)
2) I could charge my Tytn II from PC USB (amber LED on) and sync with activesync, but it stopped working... it doesn't charge anymore (amber LED off) and also doesn't sync
2a) I tried to swap USB cables
2b) I tried to swap USB ports
2c) I tried to plug to another computer
2d) none of those worked
thanks
Long Shot Here. But see if you can find this setting. Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC. Toggle the Option (If it's Off turn it on, if it's on turn it off). Soft Reset.
If that doesn't work May try a Hard Reset But this will delete all you Main Memory Data. But it should leave your SD Card data alone.

that's weird, because the "USB to PC" setting isn't even opening
it just reacted as if it runned in background (it shows it's clicking it, but doesn't open anything)
i'm trying to avoid the hard reset as much as I can, because I just did it 2 weeks ago and now it's the way I like
if you're using wmdc i know under the connection settings theres a place where u can check to charge the phone while using usb or in some other wording..maybe u can take a look there

After going through the trial of my dead phone, I believe that this is the same culprit that plagued me. I was able to get a new battery, but when I connected it to my computer via USB it would not charge. The funny thing is though, I can charge from my car adapter only! I do have to wiggle the contact to get it just right. My phone connector must not be aligned right. But I'm still having the same problem. Tried different cables and ports. I can not charge from a wall outlet either, just the car.
Any ideas?!
The USB connector got a bit deformed and doesn't make good contact anymore?

That was my guess. Mine had this happen recently so I put a slight bend in the USB cable end so that it would pinch more tightly and now it charges.
So, after messing around with AC Sideload Wonder Machine installing a bunch of apps, something happened and now I can't mount my Captivate to my computer. When I plug the USB into the PC, it momentarily shows "Charging" on BattStatt, but then it goes away immediately and the phone does not show an option to mount nor does it charge the phone.
I have the USB settings set to Mass Storage and USB debugging off. I've tried a different computer and nothing. USB drivers have been installed.
For some reason, it charges the phone if I plug it into the wall.
Did I damage the cable? Did I corrupt some system files? Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Edit: Not rooted, stock android 2.1. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the USB drivers. Doesn't help.
Did you try enabling usb debugging again?
Sent from my Captivate

Yeah, that doesn't do anything either.
D'oh, just went through this too. Been a while I guess since I'd done it. You have to open the notification bar and select the "copy files for USB" option.

try using another cable, if it doesn't work, look into possibly master reset. If not that, try one click downloader reset.

I just tried another cable on another PC and it sort of works if I jiggle it a bit - I'm able to maintain a connection and transfer files, and it charges as well. I'm starting to think the USB port on the my phone may be defective.
My usb port was a little bent on my phone, after one of my sons tried to disconnect the cable sideways rather than straight. I just adjusted the outer parts very carefully with small pliers, and also bent the inner contact slightly. After that I had no more problems with charging, just be careful! Maybe that could help you, mrpibb?
Also make sure your USB slider door is fully open. It will "click" when fully open or closed.

Yeah, it's fully opened. Using the cable that came with the phone, it never works. Using a different cable, it sometimes works. The weird thing is that it charges fine via AC adapter when its plugged into the wall.

Spitballing here but it might not be the cable but the adapter on the phone.
Pins 1 and 5 (power) might be ok but either pin 2 or 3 (data) could be defective on the phone.

That's my fear as well. I'm screwed?
Hello! After some experiments with POGO contacts on my Nexus 7 3G I have the following situation:
1. The normal USB-charging can not properly start. The battery state in the Settings menu eventually changes from Charging to Discharging and back, the battery level goes down as it is indeed discharging. If the tab is off, then the charging animation is not shown completely in an infinite loop.
2. No any connection can be established with a computer using USB cable. Windows 7 machines just ignore this connection without any traces. Windows XP machines repeatedly show warnings about a non-recognized usb device although all drivers were preinstalled.
3. If I put a USB-OTG cable into the tab (even if the cable is empty from other side) android shows that the battery is charging. Neththertheless, the tab in this state correctly recognizes flash drives as it did previously.
4. The POGO charging contacts are alive. The charging is normal. Moreover, this charging alllows to normally connect the tab to computer via USB cable.
I used the last feature to return to the stock ROM and to lock the bootloader, so the device is ready to go to service. But are there some chance to fix the problem by my own?
Thank you!

I'm having a very strange problem. When I plug any USB charger into my devices micro usb, it immediately connect (I use lightflow and get a light indicator as soon as I plug it in). However, it will take about 5 extra seconds for the device to actually begin charging. (indicated by the lightening bolt in the battery icon). Anyone know why this is or how to fix? I'm hoping it's not a hardware issue with my device.
This is also causing any PC to not recognize the device (regardless of ADB, drivers, USB debug, MTP, etc.).
Thanks

I do not think the two behaviors are linked. As I posted on your other thread, mine has the same delay when plugging in the charger. However, I have no problems with PC recognizing device. Explorer can see my device's SDcard. And ADB works flawlessly.
any fix on this? Mine has been doing it for a month or so now. Also my battery has went to **** as well. Also - did you buy yours from qualitycellz?
Hello guys
I recently changed from S9+ to S21 and I have a question : I usually use my desktop computer to charge my phone during night while I sleep. (with data USB cable)
I have no problem when the desktop is on (under windows) : my phone charge (with USB cable) and I can transfert photos.
When my computer is off, when I plug the phone, the screen show the charging screen for 2 seconds and stops
I have no problem with my S9 to charge when the computer is off. (I know that there is an option in the bios to keep USB charging when computer is switched off)
It looks like the USB power is too low, and the S21 doesn't want to charge with it.
Maybe ther is an option in the phone to authorize this kind of charging ?

There isn't such an option in the OS as of now. It's possible that the S21 battery amp requirements are more than those of S9
Do you think the computer's USB port has a lower supply when the computer is turned off ?
We don't know what kind of computer you have, or what it's USB port capabilities are. That's something you can try to figure out, looking at your computer or manual for the computer's motherboard. Also check the BIOS settings, sometimes you can control the power state of the computer when it is "off" and whether power is still supplied to the USB ports (e.g., to allow the computer to boot up when it detects mouse or keyboard USB inputs).
As an example, my MSI motherboard has a feature where you can install software to set the USB ports to a high power output state, so you can power USB devices using more than the standard output current.
My Dell laptop has a USB port with a special symbol that means it's for high-power output for charging phones etc. So it can handle charging modern phones, and puts out more than 0.5 amps, but only for those USB ports with the special symbol (lightning bolt).
You'll need to just find out more information about what your computer is capable of.
I have a MSI gaming pro carbon X370 ( the optional wake by USB is on, without that, you're right, the USB are totally off and nothing will charge)
I did more investigations .... I tried all my USB cables and all USB ports and finally find 1 combination that works.
Only 1 of 12 USB cables worked ( the one took from an external HDD ) even the original cable supplied with the phone didn't work and nor a 100W Ugreen cable...
And only the front USB work. The different USB directly on the motherboard doesn't work with this phone, despite I always used them to charge many devices...
for information the working cable is a KAIBAO revision 3.0
Finally it doesn't work with this cable : it take longer before the phone stops to charge, but it stops too ...
Hi,
You need to check the power requirements of your new phone.
Thank you.
