can somebody advise me a task manager to manage and kill applications to seve power?
Taskiller full or lite.
TasKiller Lite is a bad thing. Dont use it.
Since the lite version has ads integrated it will always use between 1-13% of your CPU to load them. This program drains your phone in no time...
Buy the full...
With startup auditor you can choose to eliminate taskiller lite at startup.
what about EStrongs Task Manager ???

Hi guys,
There are numerous apps available for killing running apps.
There are Advanced Task Manager, Advanced Task Killer, Taskiller etc.
I am currently using the Advanced Task Manager as I see the most apps available for me to "kill" or "exclude". I tried Taskiller as recommended by a friend but I only saw a short list for me to manage and I figures maybe this app doesnt show all of the available-to-kill running apps?
Any comments on which one do you think is the best app for doing such task? And why? Coz I am not sure if I am using the best.
same question here.
I was running advanced task killer, and now I am trying TaskPanel. What are the opinions? (I know some of the opinions are that we don't need either one, but some apps are stubborn.)
I've been using Advanced Task Killer since I got my Hero and I've not had any problems with it. It's very rare I need to kill an app anyway Peep is the only one I can think of as I wanted to stop using it.

I bought Advanced Task Killer and I have tried Taskiller before but I LOVE the auto-kill function that 'ATK' has
but there is one thing that make me wonder why Advanced task Managers always have the most apps to choose to kill than others. But what are the goods of other killer app if there are many apps they cannot kill?
Hey does anyone have the problem that whenever you start a task manager the notification icon appears, but then after about 30 seconds it disappears and basically just quits the app. I tried 2 different managers (advanced task manager, task killer) and both do the same thing where they run for a bit then quit. They still work though so I don't really know what is going on. Thanks guys
I have Advanced Task Manager installed, and haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary.
Perhaps your task manager is killing itself. Make sure it's on the exception list.
It has stopped.. I don't know why it was doing it in the first place, but after the update to JH7 it stopped. Thx for the help anyway
Perhaps you should drop the task manager?

I have been using ATK ever since day 1. Never faced any issue so far.
See if u have any program like start up auditor installed and configured it to not start ATK at runtime or keep in memory.
edit:
by the way, i updated to JH7 I guess like a few days back, and I still have my ATK working with no issues.
can anyone recommend a good task killer? ive tried atk on 2.2 but its very sluggish. i dl task panel x and it doesnt update frequently lol. i have autokiller memory but not sure if i am using it right lol. so if anyone is using a task killer, what r u using and r u getting good results? thanks in advance!
Do not use autokiller. I can't remember what problem it causes but it does indeed cause a problem on all galaxy phones. Or at laast my fascinate

You shouldn't need one from all I've read about it.
but I use system panel to kill an app here and there.

Don't bother using a task killer. I used Advance Task Killer for the last two weeks but it probably hampered things more than it helped. Your phone will NOT slow down to a crawl. Most custom ROMs use good minfree settings that'll keep your phone snappy.
Just uninstall your task killer, or if you want to use it, turn off autostart, turn off autokill, and only use it for pesky apps that won't die.

I was using ATK and could not verify any benefit. I read the following article and gained some more understanding. I have been running without a Task Killer since and I see no loss in performance or battery life. I could say I have less FCs and more reliability with syncing email.

i have been getting random shutdown these few days (started like 3 days ago), about 1 shutdown per day. i'm not sure if it' the stock task manager, dolphin browser beta 4.0, or widget locker 1.2.7 causing it. i already removed stock task manager and downgraded widget locker to 1.2.4 to see what happens.
Task killers aren't generally needed on android. If its battery life you want then for one try not to compulsively look at your phone preventing the cpu from idling and screen from turning off. Get juice defender. It turns off data unless it is needed. Most apps don't use resorces when the phone is asleep unless they are designed to, like file sharing programs or apps that sync data in the background but there are also bad apps. In froyo Use the built in task manager (long prsss on home) to see what's running. If you havent used something in a while and don't need the process active then close it.
If it is performance you want then no task manager will help. You need to alter the minfree setting which manages memory and how apps use it. I use the one click lag fix app to do that. Other apps I used caused problems. I set the minfree to moderate. Its more agressive than stock but doesn't kill processes you might want running. Anything more agressive than that kills allshare while im streaming movies but there is a performance increase when set to optimal or strict however it is slight.

1) Is task manager doing any harm?
2) Which one is the best?
It doesnt harm, best task manager is advanced task killer
If you are using 2.2 or 2.3, we doesnt need task manager
2.3.7
29MB from 175MB RAM, that's why I am asking...
i like to use task killer pro (best app in my opinion) becouse some apps automatically start when internet connection is turnd on, or when you finished using some app and you dont want to youse yor RAM or CPU... so it your choice !
I have a few apps running in the background all the time. Facebook and blood and glory mainly. Is there a way to delete them for good? On Facebook I set it that no notifications and never refresh, and its still using up 12mb. Same with blood and glory. Any way to kill them for good? Is there an app maybe? Thanks.
Well, mainly in android apps have 4 components.
Two of those are Activities and Services.
The activities have UI, you can activate and use it. The services doesn't have UI since they are hidden. You can't Activate them manually and their purpse is to open the app fast. Deleting the app is the best way you can use a task manager to close them.
Advanced Task Killer, for example, has the ability to set timer for RAM clearing, you can set it to whenever you lock your screen.
if i helped you, hit the thanks button
Another way for ram.
I think of the amount of memory (ram) have effected to play game or run any application smoothly.
So If you use kernel Semaphore 2.7.4(GB) or 1.2.0 (ICS) there are choices for big memory to run application smoothly.
I want to kill an app like Facebook, and then I don't want it to run in the background after I close the app. When I kill the process , after aboit 10 seconds it goes on again!
Anyone!?
Anyone 2x?
use advanced task manager.or delete the facebook app and install fbm.it does not run in the background

Autostarts
There is an app on android market called Autostarts, it's an amazing app i've used it for over a year now and never had any problems. what it does it stops apps like facebook from starting up automaticly and keeps the app fully closed until you choose to launch it. Same goes for any other app which you choose to disable from auto-starting by itself. This is why Autostarts is so much better than say a normal task killer because apps closed by task killers restart themselves a few minutes later so your just running round in circles trying to keep the app closed probably eating up more battery trying to close it every 5 minutes than if you just left the app alone, where as with autostarts you dissable the app once then thats it it wont start until you tell it to, perfect!
Autostart sounds quite good
I'd also recommend using titanium backup to freeze the app, unfreeze when you want it and then freeze when you dont.
Autostart probably sounds like the easier option, no need to keep freezing and unfreezing, but knowing about titanium backup and freezing apps doesn't hurt
